My wife and I visited this location since we were in Reston and love the food in Rockville. The place is extremely cold. My wife is frozen and normally I'm fine but it's sooo cold as to be very uncomfortable. Waiting on the food and may have to eat in the car. We mentioned it to the staff and they said the heat was on but after walking around every vent is blowing cold air. Next they made our dessert but never made our food. No other customers are waiting. After 20 minutes with NOBODY AT THE COOKING STATION, we asked the manager nicely for a refund since we simply didn't have anymore time to wait having to get food somewhere before picking up family at the airport. Justin, David said the cooks were on break and REFUSED a refund saying it would take weeks to get our money back and that that was company policy. Really? Payment in advance of cooking food is expected. Immediate reimbursement is expected if the food isn't delivered. David forced us to take a gift card or nothing! We want our money back, food was NOT delivered and nobody was even working to do so. If this is policy, it needs addressed. As for the freezing cold and managers attitude, training or removal is warranted. Customers have a choice and don't deserve to be treated this way or have there money not returned. read more

There was definitely enough spice, but my taste buds were a little bored about halfway through. - Packaging: the first time I ordered this it came in a little Chinese take-out box. I convinced my coworkers to take a longer then usually walk to go to honeygrow today. It was definitely worth it! When you walk in the staff greets you and there is a bunch of tablets where you place your order (they had hand sanitizer next to each tablet). It was very easy, although I do like watching my food being put in the bowl (like Cava, Chipotle, etc.). There was a lot of people there but no very crowded feeling. We waited less than 5 minutes for our food. The food was great and reasonably priced, I got the chicken stir fry with lettuce wraps. The lettuce warps were kinda small but you get like 5. I was really excited for Honeygrow to open in Reston and to explore their menu of stir-fry bowls, salads, and honey/yogurt cups. The setup of this restaurant is really cool. You walk in and see the open kitchen to the left, with a bunch of registers in front of it for customers to place their orders and pay without a cashier. On the right is a wall of pressed juices and there are tables between the two. I've been here twice now and both times I got the honey bar and one time I bought a noodle bowl as well. The honey bar has definitely been my favorite. I've bought the seasonal honey bar both times. The one during the summer had lots of fresh fruit and a light taste, while the winter one included a combination of fresh and dried fruit, with ginger cookies. You can also make your own, but I always seem to create weird combinations. The same goes for the noodle bowls and salads, but I stuck with a pre-made one here as well and ordered the Philly Roast Pork, which is also a fall seasonal bowl. This included noodles, pork, baby spinach, broccoli, red onions, au jus, Parmesan, and chili flakes. I wasn't a huge fan of this. The pork was tough and chewy and there really wasn't much flavor in the sauce, other than just a lot of spiciness from the chili. But nothing else. I may come back and try another stir-fry bowl. But overall, I don't think Honeygrow is really worth it. I loved the honey bar, but it's way too expensive for the teeny tiny bowl you get. And even if I find a stir-fry dish that I love, those are also super pricey, so I can't imagine this being a frequent stop for me. When I saw honeygrow on yelp for the first time I knew I wanted to atleast try it myself to see what all the hype was all about! It looked so yummy and cute so my friend and I decided to check it out. It is kind of like a fast food stir fry restaurant but the interior is really cute and the staff is friendly. We were able to choose what protein, carb and veggies and sauce we wanted and everything was done electronically on a computer which you can select everything your self. I personally got the sweet soy garlic stir fry with noodles. I think it was pretty decent and the size was just the right portion. I think it was a little pricey for the food I got but location is great, parking is ner by and the food is freshly made. Definitely recommend trying it out! read more

I came here with a co-worker for dinner on a weekday. There was no line and one of the workers, Robin, came and explained the menu and walked me through the whole process of ordering through the kiosk. I ended up ordering the Red Coconut Curry noodles but with egg instead of tofu and broccoli instead of pineapple. The red coconut curry sauce was a little one dimensional. I only tasted spice and coconut flavor. Even though there was cilantro in there, I didn't really taste it. Also when substituting the egg for tofu it seemed like there was only one egg in the whole serving of noodles - not much. There wasn't much of the other veggie toppings either so it was mostly noodles and sauce. Overall, not bad for a fast casual restaurant. I read other reviews after my visit there yesterday and was shocked to see the bad reviews. Maybe the restaurant improved after these reviews? We were greeted and had a kind guide of their menu and ordering process. Although order is taken on the screen, I still felt the friendly atmosphere by the staff. Your order can be customized million different ways! I pretty much stayed with what they recommended. Their ingredients are almost all from local farmers and they list on the wall. The price is a few bucks more than similar restaurants but I don't mind paying extra to support local farmers! The curry stir fry was really, really delicious and there are several other items I want to try in the future. It's next to my office. I am sure I will be a regular here. read more

I like this place, especially for takeout. It tends to be a good choice when you have people over because most people always seem to like it. However, they never, ever get online orders right. Every single time someone will say "oh no my order is wrong" which immediately sends me into a mini-panic attack "oh no, did I screw up while ordering?". But then I check the ticket and I breathe easy, "ah Honeygrow, you did it again with your reliable unreliability". I'll still get food from there, its good. But a place that specializes in takeout should have a better batting record I think. read more

Moved back to Reston recently and looking for new restaurants to try. So, I came across honeygrow this week and decided to try it. Downloaded the app and placed my order online for dinner. Very nice that honeygrow offered $3 off your first order through the app. Ordered the spicy garlic, added bean sprouts and mushrooms + subbed shrimp for the chicken. Food was waiting on a pickup shelf near the door. Fast. Convenient. However, I was disappointed to find my food lukewarm and missing my additions of bean sprouts + mushrooms. The sauce was tasty and had a nice kick to it. I had higher expectations I have to admit; but my first meal didn't knock my socks off. I went to honey grow for the first time yesterday and it was just delicious! The kiosk aspect was nice for ordering in regards to convenience and ease. I like how you can either customize your dish or select one from the menu. The price is fairly average for places that are similar (ie. chipotle, cava, &pizza, poke, etc). The vibe of the place is really good too! The only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of is their honeybar. I did not pay for the dessert myself but it was just not worth the price in my opinion. Overall this place is quite good. The ordering is simple and convenient, and the service is quite quick. The drink machine could use a bit more variety, but what they have is good too. The stir-fry I ordered seemed a bit dry, and it was hard to tell if that was how it's supposed to be or not. I heard of the grand opening from a post on restonnow.com and decided to try it out. I found it interesting and convenient that they had "ticketed" time slots for their grand opening where customers could come during lunch or dinner time. There was plenty of free parking spaces. The interior and set up reminded me of Chipotle, but it was much more hipster. Unlike Chipotle, there were some kiosks that customers could use to order instead of ordering at the cash register. Navigating the kiosk was simple and it had the added convenience of providing you with the option of joining their rewards program. I ordered the Shiso Walnut Basil Pesto stir fry with shrimp, although customers have the option of customizing or making their own stir fry or salad. My order ended up totaling $11.97. As expected, it was crowded and the wait was long for the stir fry. I ordered it to go, and was surprised that the container wasn't filled all the way to the top. There was about half an inch at the top. However, once I saw my friend's order, which was a stir fry with lots of extra ingredients, I realized that the portion I was served was their standard. It tasted okay and filled me up. It reminded me somewhat of Noodles & Company. Given the price and average taste, I do not think this is a place I will frequent. Also, the egg white noodles had a chew, so I would prefer them to be cooked a bit longer for a softer texture. Unless Honeygrow retrains their staff at this location, I will never return. Prior to my relocation to Reston in July 2017 from Jersey City, NJ, I use to be a patron at the Hoboken Honeygrow location. There were quality issues at the location, but it's worse quality at the Reston location. I was the only customer in there around 3pm today, so definitely no excuse on the lunch rush. You need to have the training manager return immediately before you lose any more customers. I don't blame the employees because they are new. It's Honeygrow's responsibility to ensure proper training and quality control. In Reston, there are several other lunch and restaurant options. The quality of my stir fry today was so awful. My stirfry barely came to the halfway point of the takeout container, there was maybe 3 tablespoons worth of rice, the tofu has changed, either the sesame garlic sauce recipe changed or I was given the wrong sauce, and so much sauce was added that my coworkers thought I ordered soup. Disgusting and not worth the prYou may think I am only one customer, but please note that my colleagues and I work locally at a globally recognized company, and two of us, including myself coordinate team lunches and catering. My colleagues went to the Reston location last week and were disappointed and I went today. This is the lowest quality I have yet to experience at Honeygrow. The noodle dish came with noodles that were so under cooked they tasted like paste. And they were all stuck together. The third noodle bowl came 10 min after the other two entrees, only after I had to go ask about it twice. The staff were pretty much lost and helpless, they couldn't find a salad dressing. The meals came out one at a time - mind you we only ordered the things and it was not busy. The concept is great. Yesterday, I received stale bread. When I broke it apart, there was mold. They are beyond lucky I didn't come down there and address them like they deserved to be addressed. Whoever packed that order, there is ZERO chance that they didn't realize the bread was stale the minute they touched it. I'm going to try another location and hope for better results. My wife and I came here regularly, probably every other week, since it opened. We've endured many problems, for example, a couple times they've repeatedly forgotten our order, even after being reminded, and once after 1.5 hrs of waiting we had to ask for our money back and leave. We always make excuses for this place because we liked Honeygrow, but tonight was just too much. Cockroach on the table: My wife, my infant son, and I got there early-ish tonight, at about 5:00. It looked like we were the first there for dinner service. After placing our order, we sat down to wait for our food, and a large cockroach crawled right across our table. We alerted the staff, and when they came to look, they acted like they were so grossed out that no one wanted to touch it. Finally, an employee brushed it off the table and squashed it with his shoe. He told me he was sorry and he was embarrassed, and that most customers would have walked right out. He said he recognized us as regulars there. Then he got back to work. As we continued sitting there (at another table) I looked around and it became obvious to me why there were cockroaches ambling around the front of the restaurant. There was loose food all over the tables and the floor. It must have been there since at least lunchtime, and while there were employees hanging around, no one was wiping the tables or cleaning up. And no one wiped down that table even after the cockroach was walking across it. Blocked from exiting: When the food came out, my wife chose to eat since we paid for it. I had lost my appetite and just waited for her to finish. At the end, I took my full bowl back up to the register and told them I didn't feel like eating it after our experience. Weirdly, they looked shocked and insulted, so I just turned around to leave. At that point, the employee who killed the cockroach stood between me and the exit, blocking me as I held my baby, and asked if there was anything he could do. I did not feel threatened, and he was again apologetic, but still, this made me uncomfortable. He offered me a free meal for a future visit (though he did not offer me a refund on the meal I did not eat). I told him no, I wasn't sure I'd be back, but I suggested that he wipe that table down after the cockroach was crawling across it. He shook my hand, and I walked around him and left. The employee appeared genuinely sorry. I get that things happen. Maybe if, after seeing the cockroach, they had cleaned that table (as well as the others) I would've felt more inclined to eat there, but there just seemed to be a lack of care for cleanliness and this is the inevitable result. The fact that I wasn't offered a refund for my untouched food after that experience was also surprising and disappointing. Update: Later that night, my wife got food poisoning and vomited in the middle of the night. She was too sick today to go to work. Now I'm even more glad that I elected not to eat what I ordered. Went in to do a to go order instead of ordering on the app. I will say the app needs work as there needs to be a place for comments or even notes. For the reason I'm about to say below. I got a beef CYO stirfry with noodles and spicy garlic sauce and it was delicious...mostly because I got extra spicy garlic sauce on the side. I like my food very flavorful and the regular amount they put in just wasn't enough for my taste. But the app didn't give me the option to get extra sauce on the side ON TOP OF the regular amount in the stir-fry. See the dilemma? Service was wonderful tho. I wanted to check this place out - didn't want to get a whole meal, so I just got one of the little cups from the "honeybar" to go - it's basically fruit, honey and mix-ins. I ordered banana, strawberry and honeydew. (As another reviewer mentioned, it would be great if the ordering system could accommodate special requests... for instance I would have liked to have had double strawberry instead of a 3rd fruit). I didn't even get any honeydew in my cup, and it only had like 5 drops of honey (maybe that's the norm?) Fun concept, but definitely not worth it for $5.79. I will be back to try the stir fry, so I'll adjust my review accordingly after I've tried the "real food". read more
