For the record, I love cava and wish I lived closer to one ( or maybe not because I'd be eating here everyday the n lol). That being said, disappointed with this location. I ordered online and went in after I received the text saying my order was ready. I spent the same amount of time waiting to get my food, as did the person who entered right before me and ordered on the spot. Their pickup counter was empty and I could see my food sitting behind the counter. While I understand this may be for safety reasons, I still don't see why I had to wait this long. There was a couple of folks just milling around who weren't actively preparing orders and ideally I'd expect someone to keep an eye on the pick up counter. I tried to catch the cashiers eye a couple of times but it felt like she continued to ignore me. I left feeling frustrated with the whole thing. Anyway, now for my bowl. I asked for a light drizzle of skhug sauce and what I received was a bowl doused in the sauce. So much so that I didn't taste anything else. Maybe 3 pieces of grilled chicken. Rice that was super lumpy. This was the first time in a long time that I didn't enjoy or finish my bowl. Def highly disappointed. I enjoy cava for a lot of different reasons, one them being predictability with my meal when I need it. Their recipes are set, all this location had to get right was assembling and they didn't. Tasty, fresh, quality ingredients. There was even a little heat to the harissa. The sweet potatoes are good. Love the sauce, however, 10 mins later when I got home all the salad in the bottom was completely soggy. I had to drain off a bunch of liquid in order to make this palatable. Not sure if the sauces need to be shaken up or what, but maybe don't put the salad on the bottom if there's going to be that much liquid in play? Nothing worse than slimy lettuce, blech. read more

Tells us to order through the app since their POS is down and we proceed to do that which takes them 20 minutes to make our bowl meanwhile they start taking orders from customers after us and they have been happily eating for 5-10 minutes. This is also after waiting 5-10 minutes in a line that wasn't moving for some unknown reason despite having only 4 people in front of us when we entered. Also the portion size is small, they measure your protein using a small plastic dip cup which is pathetic. Employees have no urgency to get the food out to us after making us jump through hoops. Don't normally write reviews for fast food places but I was at Cava in Reston near RTC and thought I'd post some pics of the menu and prices to help out my fellow Yelpers. Cava or Chipotle - which one? My pref is Cava. My go to is the "grains & greens" Build Your Own Bowl - romaine (for the crisp and crunch) and white rice. For the mains, I get half half Harissa Chicken (an upcharge for this main and many other of the seasoned meat options) and roasted veggies. (Read my Tip about a sneaky Cava overcharge practice that I discovered recently - not cool.) A side of Pita Chips makes a great accompaniment to the meal - they have a new "for a limited time" Garlic Ranch pita chip "flavor" (the ones in the blue sleeve/pouch). In general, I dig their pita chips. Crispy deep fried pilllows of goodness that are a bit chewy when you bite into them. Just the right chewy consistency. The new garlic ranch ones are the same great consistency but imho are toooooo seasoned-up. Way too salty. If they toned down the seasoning a bit, they would be so much better. I also love their Apricot Honey Cookie!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Get those at the "end of the line" when you pay for your order. I haven't come across anything like these - they're super soft and chewy with chewy bits of apricot, not too sweet with an ever so slight hint of ginger. A nice cap-off to the meal. At just under $20 for a one-person meal (no drink), it's no McDs or Taco Bell or Chick Fil A "cheap-eats" that's for sure. But for every once in a while, it's a nice fresh healthy alternative to a burger and fries and depending on how you "build" your bowl and what you put in it, it's a satisfyingly hearty meal. Truth be told, I can usually get 2 meals out of 1 bowl - just get your dressing on the side so you can add in a little at a time as you go so the dressing doesn't drench the leftovers and make them soggy. 3 stars isn't a knock. 3 stars is average. Cava in general has become one of my favorite "fast" food options for a variety of reasons with the most important being that it's truly a healthier option and the food is always fresh! This location definitely lived up to that expectation in addition to providing great and prompt customer service during the busy lunch hour. All the staff was friendly and super attentive and they knew exactly how to smoothly handle the lunch rush. They have a nice amount of indoor seating and also have ample outdoor seating as an option. It's definitely a bustling location which is also good for not just enjoying your meal but also people watching. read more

Cava is my absolute favorite fast-casual restaurant. I've only gotten the greens bowls there. All their toppings are so flavorful. Their marinated cherry tomatoes, cabbage slaw, roasted corn all are bursting with flavor. I've had the chicken, harissa chicken, lamb meatballs and the steak. All are just so good. They prepare all the meats at the restaurant. I could literally eat there every day. I've been going there about once a week for about 6 years it's still my favorite. They really know how to do Mediterranian. The Reston Cava is great. I've only ordered in person. The people who make your order are friendly and are always willing to give an extra spoon full of the vegetable toppings. And those pita chips! Just the perfect consistency and amount of salt. You get a lot of food for the price; but regardless of the quantity, the ingredients and the cookiing are just top notch. The unsung heros of this store and CAVA in general are the cooks who generally aren't customer-facing directly, but i really have to hand it to them for cooking wonderful tasting meat and anything else that's prepared in house. read more

Prior to going to this Cava, I tried the one in Ashburn but never reviewed it. Recently, we were looking for a quick, cheap meal that was close to home. Since this Cava is an easy walk from where we live, we decided to give it a try. We were here on a Saturday around 5 p.m. The place wasn't busy at all then. We were able to walk right up to the counter and place our orders. The staff was friendly and patient plus well informed when it came to the food offerings. We both chose bowls. I did white basmati rice as my base, while my husband did black lentils. We both added sirloin meatballs. I also added roasted red pepper humus plus tomatoes and cucumbers and couscous. For my dressing, I chose Greek vinaigrette. While my husband only added tomatoes and onions to his. We both got sodas. This all cost $26 + change. The food was okay---no complaints there. However, having been to Mezeh more than once, we found Cava to be lacking when it came to the number of choices available. At Mezeh, there is a lot more choices when it comes to creating your bowl. Plus the meals cost about the same as Cava. Still, I have to admit that it's nice to have a place so close to home when looking for a quick, cheap meal in a pinch. Cava is my go to place for a great green and grain bowl. The ingredients are always fresh. There is always great add-in choices for your bowl. You can choose from 3 of thflavors of hummus and two all excellent salad dressings. Don't forget to ask for the pita bread which is very good as well. I made a mobile order during my lunch time at work. They put someone else's order in my to go bag which had my name on it. I didn't know this until I drove 15 minutes out after picking my order up. I had to drive all the way back to the restaurant and they found my order which was definitely sitting in the wrong place on the pickup shelf. 2/28/19 Chipotle comes to mind, but this isn't Chipotle. This is Cava and it will be a restuarant I eat at tomorrow. Today I need to get some pens from Navy Federal Credit Union for my new vehicle. After acquiring what I needed from Navy Federal Credit Union, my throat felt dry. Upon checking out the place I saw it was busy like Chipotle. The brown rice and chicken looked delicious. I must admit the food was making my mouth water. "Patience is a virtue" they say. That depends on the situation your in...in this case, I can wait for tomorrow. I look forwards to seeing the same conditions as this place minus the unisex bathrooms. Those bathrooms were about to be worked on when I came out of the it. The staff I saw had smiles on their face and it was nice to see. The cashier greeted me with a smile and thanked me for stopping by. Today I only bought paid for a soda, but took sparkling water instead. Tomorrow I will buy food and a drink. If the food is as good as it looked, i am looking forwards to trying the different flavors...we will have to see. As of now, four stars to this place. read more

Went to this location for dinner last night and ordered a make-your-own bowl and curated falafel wrap. Overall, we were disappointed with the food quality. The rice and lentils were under-cooked, the chicken was dry, even though the portions in the bowl were good. And the curated falafel pita wrap was so soggy and unappetizing. I am such a fan of this new Cava in Reston! Now I don't have to drive more than 10 minutes to one of these chipotle-style Mediterranean chains! It's a great location for them since it's not located in the busy Reston Town Center and still within walking distance from a lot of apartments and condos. It's assembly line (chipotle-style) food where you build your own bowl with base (greens/grains/peta), dips/spreads, proteins, toppings, and dressing. I like the saffron basmati rice as the base, tzatziki and harissa (spicy!!) as the dips, and the grilled and spicy lamb meatballs as the proteins. I tend to add those ingredients and the rest is what I feel like at the moment. It's a creative, flavorful, and "healthier" way to eat out. The service was very friendly. I do notice they're more on the slower end. It wasn't crowded when I ordered but I noticed a longer line afterwards and service was trying to keep up. I guess there isn't anything wrong if they're taking their time with each customer, unless you're the last few customers in line. Still, awesome service, location, and food. read more

I LOVE Cava and a good portion of that is because they let you get extra of all the toppings.. In person ordering from this guy you would have thought he was rationing the food for hibernation. Even after asking for extras going and asking a coworker in another language if he could do it. I've never had a problem at any other location and will never come back to this one.
