I read about this place on Yelp and decided to try them out since Midas had recently told me I needed some items replaced on my car. I was told by Midas I needed front & rear brakes and 4 new tires. Stanley at Honcura was so nice! He told me I only needed front brakes replaced- the back could wait another 10,000 miles. He doesn't do tires but recommended me to another place and told me I could wait another 4-5K miles on replacing the back ones. Hands down would recommend this place to anyone who needs their car serviced. He replaced my front brakes and changed my oil in half an hour and for $140. What a deal! Also, I drive a Toyota, so he works on other manufacturers than just Honda & Acura. read more

I rolled in without an appointment, and got my oil changed very quickly, for an extremely reasonable rate. I am done with Colonial, and sticking with Honcura as long as I'm in LA. I was looking for someone honest, trustworthy, and aware that I do not want to spend my savings fixing my car. He is sooo all of these things. And fast service, great prices, too. Now with all the Yelp business, it's a good idea to call ahead and just let him know you're coming. The ONLY thing I'd say (my reason for 4 instead of 5 stars), is you need to know what you're going to see him for. He's not huge on preventative maintenance (he's not trying to look for business suggesting things you don't really need), so you have to make sure to tell him to check other areas of concern. As a female, I hate taking my car anywhere. Even those oil change places on every corner try to tell me I desperately need something else done every freaking time I get an oil change. And I really do not know any better. Stanley at Honcura's(he only works on Honda and Acura's, if you couldn't tell) is someone I actually trust. Not only do I take my car there for real mechanic work, but I always go for just an oil change. He is fair and honest and doesn't try to sell me crap I don't need. I started at Diamond Honda because I thought the work would fall under my extended warranty. They told me the warranty expired because of time and not mileage. I left with a quote for dollars and time for the work (replacement of multiple door and trunk lock actuators which gave out within days of each other). Stanley's cost was only $650 versus dealership's quote of $1900+ and he only took 3 hours versus dealership's quote of 6+ hours. I was at Honcura earlier this week. My car had electrical problems (meters would go crazy) and the throttle cable was burned out. I - as many of u- trusted the review of this place and drove out here from Downtown LA. ( not a pleasant ride, since the gas pedal would get stuck.) Anyways, I told Dan what was wrong and what I had tried to do to fix it. Such as bought a new ground wire to connect to the transmission. I also mentioned that both terminals were loose and that was not the problem. So I left my car there and was already on the bus back home when he called me and said to come back it was fixed. It had not been 20 min. since I had left! ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS TAKE MORE THAN 20 MIN!!! GRR!! So he claimed to have fixed my car. At first it worked fine. However as soon as I pulled out of his shop it started messing up. I did a U-turn about 100 ft from his shop and confronted him about it. He looked at my car then he just added brake oil and called it fixed. He said I might have a problem with my ABS. I said no shit. I told you what it wasn't and I asked you to look at it. He charged me $20 for connecting my terminals and adding brake fluid!!! First of all my car didn't need brake fluid. The level was full. He topped it off to the point of which I had to wipe off the extra fluid because it was pouring out. Then he said the throttle cable was burned out and it would be $20 for the part and $70 for his labor. I said no thank you. He noticed I was pissed so he also said my battery was no good. Yeah right... bet he didn't even check.. I went to autozone and they checked my battery. Their meter read Battery GOOD. I also asked for the throttle cable and they said $25 with a year warranty. They even suggested a mechanic that would charge me $45 to install the cable, check my car for any electrical problems (shorts) and go to my house. Thank YOU Autozone!!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO HONCURA. EVER..... GUY DOESN'T TAKE HIS BUSINESS SERIOUSLY. read more

Finding an honest mechanic who knows what they're doing is almost reason to never move away from the city you're in. Unfortunately, I had to depart Los Angeles for Boston. One of the things I'll miss dearly is having Stanley available to work on my Honda. I've been taking my Honda to him since about 2003. He tells you when you need to repair/change something, and how long you can wait before you REALLY need to do it. He uses genuine Honda parts and his labor costs are reasonable. One of the last places I visited before my road trip to the East Coast was Honcura for a quick lookover. Stanley gave my voyage the thumbs up and even offered to be a reference if I ever wanted to know whether an east coast mechanic was trying to pull a fast one on me. Call a mechanic you no longer give business to for advice?! Stanley shatters the scheming mechanic stereotype. If you are looking for a rip-off, a cheat, a dishonest, an incompetent, very expensive mechanic, then Honcura is NOT for you. This guy is the epitome of an honest mechanic, which is really hard to find. I like to work on cars myself and am very skeptical about mechanics, but you don't have to worry about this guy (Stanley) because he is as honest as it comes. I called him to get a quote on my car, which wouldn't start and needed to have the radiator replaced, and he tried to help me over the phone so that I may be able to fix the first problem. All in all, when I brought the car in, he cranked it a bit longer than I did and voila...it started. He also educates you on what the problems could be, however, he did not try to screw us and tell us we needed to fix something just to make some $$. In the end, he replaced our radiator (labor only) for a very very reasonable price and didn't try to sell us anything else. I like to try and do things myself, but I would go to Stanley anyday. He is great and knows what he's doing since he's been working on Japanese cars for over 24 years. Btw, he does other foreign cars as well (i.e. Infinity, Toyota, Nissan). Just call and talk to him. Stanley is excellent No up selling, no nonsense, just great work. So far, he has refilled the coolant in my A/C (with a dye to show where leaks are taking place should it run low again), and most recently, he replaced a cracked radiator which was also leaking badly. My Acura has fairly low mileage for its age (going on 15), but it has held up like a champ barring a few part failures here and there. Stanley calls problems as he sees them and will even show you what he is concerned about. I appreciate that as I try to milk just a few more years out of my excellent ride. read more

Stanley gave me the best price out of a lot of people. Honcura is the best!! I needed a new motor mount and trailing arm & bushings, so I called around: Robertson Honda quoted me at $750. Creeps, do not go here! S&S was $500 (just the trailing arm & bushing) Olive $350 but then change to $400 (just the trailing arm & bushing) Honcura ........ was only $320 for everything including labor and tax. Stanley is truly one of the good guys. On a recent trip to LA I had some problems with an oil leak in my oil pan on a 1999 Acura Integra. He was just about the only guy who would squeeze me in, as it was around the holidays, but I was having to head back to SF soon. Got me in and charged me a very fair price, and I was able to hit the road. As it turned out after being back in SF for several months, it seems that it started leaking from the oil pan gasket and I had to get the work redone locally. I thought it worthwhile to call Stanley as it only been about 6 months, thinking he might be able to give at least a partial refund. Of course I was prepared to send him the receipts and even the gasket that was taken out if needed. To my surprise he just looked me up and sent me a refund for the entire amount I had paid. No muss no fuss, never asked for a copy of receipt. A more decent and honest guy you won't find. It turns out sometimes these gaskets can be tricky and I've read a number of owners often have to do this a number of times before it "sticks". So if I am ever back in LA you can bet I would take my Integra back in a heartbeat. Honest and decent guys are getting harder to find these days. So my hats off to Honcura, and add me to the list of Stanley fans. read more

Correction for Julie C, Stan's shop is open on Saturday, but not all day I think... Stan's got a great shop going. It is also relatively clean for a mechanic shop. I too, hate to go to mechanics because they CONSTANTLY try to rip you off. If you need something "extra" fixed stan will not hesistate to give you your options, and show you what is wrong with it. He is extremely knowledgeable about his Honda/Acuras. I think he can probably fix a car blindfolded. I have called him several times from the road saying, "My car is broken!!!" and he will respond, "Does it make a sound like, THIS? Brrrrrrrrrr or THAT? Brbrbrbrbr?" and he can usually diagnose your car before you even get there. That has come in handy because that can make the difference between driving it in and needing to tow it. I have been going to Stan since I started driving (2000) when he was located on La Cienega Blvd. I made sure I followed when he opened his own business in Glendale! I drive a 1990 Acura Integra with over 230,000 miles on it and she still runs very smoothly! Everyone in my family who drives a Honda/Acura goes to him now! He is friendly, honest and reasonably priced. 5 stars for Stan at Honcura! read more

Stanley has been great to my 99 Honda Prelude SH so far. He replaced the radiator on one occasion and my clutch master cylinder on another. Both were done within a day. And both at prices that are virtually unbeatable. It's kind of odd, though, that the shop doesn't provide a print-out estimate/invoice of the work that was done, along with part numbers and coinciding repair/replacement times per the book. It's more like... "Oh, that'll be about $220" and... you pick up the car, pay $220, and... off you go. Granted, I haven't asked for this, but it is standard practice at most shops. It could cause some problems if there were issues with the work (especially if you had work subsequently done at another shop) but Stanley seems pretty straight up, and he'd probably own up to any mistakes made at Honcura. PRELUDE OWNERS!!! Stanley is not a fan of the Prelude SH clutch. The ATTS differential needs to be dropped when you're replacing a clutch replacement, and he's hesitant to do it. Too much work. Anything is negotiable, but good to know ahead of time. read more

Having recently moved to Glendale and with the price of gas, driving to Valencia to take my 15-yr old car to Pacc for minor issues is cost prohibitive. So when my blinkers stopped working in January, I tried to ignore it until one night, as I was driving home from work in the rain on the freeway, I realized people have no idea I needed to change lanes, and being typical LA drivers that they are, they wouldn't let me through! I had hubby take my car to Honcura based on all the Yelp reviews. I was pleasantly suprised when hubby reported that Stan looked at it, pulled the connection apart, plugged it back in, blinkers came back on, and sent hubby home - no charge! A car mechanic who doesn't nickel-and-dime you death - what a concept! A few months later, we took our son's Toyota Forerunner to Stan to make sure it's road-worthy of a trip to Austin, Texas. We were told by another mechanic that it needed a new timing belt so after we dropped off the car, we braced ourselves for an almost $1,000 expense. In a short time, Stan called to let us know that it did not need a timing belt because it does not have one. What it has is a timing chain! What a relief! Once again, Stan proved to be a very upright kinda guy. He checked, changed and replenished all fluids; put in a new battery, and made sure the drive through the desert is as safe as it could be. At the end, the huge bill we were expeting turned out to be $270. I am pleased to report the car made it to Austin and back with no problems., and I didn't have to make a trip to the pawn shop. This review does not in any way diminish my opinion of Pacc in Valencia, it should stand on its own merit as both establishments have been good to me. So if you're looking for a mechanic in Glendale, see Stan, you won't be disappointed. read more

I have no complaints. I brought it in to get my front engine mount looked at. He was able to diagnose it on the spot by having me shift it into neutral and hitting the gas. When I dropped my car off, I left out a replacement door handle part that I had, he replaced that as well as diagnosing my check-engine light, which he quoted me $20 to do (check-engine) but didn't end up charging me for it. read more

The reason I went here was because of the 5 star reviews here. I have to say that those reviews are accurate, and my car is not even a Honda (it's a Nissan). Because of my car make, I called first to ask if they would work on my car (wheel well's fender fell off & needed to be attached back) and they said they could work on it quickly. His quick assessment on the phone after I tried to explain what was wrong, was very accurate. And when I arrived, that was exactly what he did. Only took about 10 minutes - I barely had enough time to check my emails. Overall, he was honest about what needed to be fixed and friendly about it. Btw - he said he also works on Nissan & Toyotas too, despite the name and I would highly recommend him if anyone who owns those cars needs a mechanic. Wow!!! I think I've found a hidden gem!! Stan was so nice and knowledgeable. Even though he mainly does Honda and Acura, I called to see if he maybe also worked on Toyota. I mean it's not too far of a stretch from Honda/Acura. He does!!! I needed to get my brakes replaced so made an appt to drop off the car. He called me later that day and I was like "uh oh".I thought he was going to tell my brakes were worse than I thought and I would need to replace the rotors. But was I wrong. He called to ask my why I brought the car in. I told him I felt like the pads needs to be replaced. He said that my brake pads were fine and had about 4,000 miles still left on them.What the what???!!! I was so surprised by his honesty!! He said there really was no point and the noise I was hearing was probably dirt or something that got in there. I picked up the car and told him I would be back to ACTUALLY get the replaced! I checked some reviews locally to find a place to install my new hitch. This was one of the only shops that had some reviews with hitch installation. The job is really easy, 15 minutes of work between two people. I don't have the tools or second person to crawl under my car with me. So I called these guys up and they were going welcoming. I came around 9am as requested and the main guy told me a bunch of parts need to be disassembled before we install the hitch. I said for another hitches yes, but not for the model I had. I offered to show him a quick online instruction but he was very quick to neglect me and tell me " I might mess it up ". I could have sworn he said something like " waste of time " to his other employee prior to chatting with me. 14mm ratchet, 6 bolts, and one person to hold the hitch while you screw in the bolts. I'm leaving the review based off everyone else's high ratings. He wasn't friendly or helpful at all. He wasn't busy either with 2 employees sitting around, they could have made a quick buck in the middle of doing nothing. read more

Stanley seems to be a pleasant person and he does very fast work. So fast, in fact, I wonder if the job was really done. But based on reviews here, I'm trusting that everything was done as promised. So far so good. My only issue is that he was a $200 higher than other highly rated Honda specialists for a major tune up. Only reason I still chose to use his services was because he ensured me that he only uses genuine OEM parts, hence the cost. Open on Saturdays $25 oil change I was checking my tires while the car was on the lift and saw two huge nails on 1 tire. I asked Stan if there's a tire shop around the area... but found out that he can fix tire leaks as well. ended up paying $25 on the oil change and another $20 for the 2 nail patch up... not bad... one stop shop... this is my first time going to honcura... but will definitely be back... read more

I had an issue with my engine light , where my coolant thermostat wasn't functioning properly, I was told around 300 $ by other shops which were trying to rip me off. Stanley told me the fix was not necessary and the car could run without an issue. I was not charged for this other wise I would be charged a lot at other places. Found my new car guru. Honcura is awesome!!! I came in for brake pads and rotors replaced before and now replaced my spark plugs with no problems at all. Very fast service with reasonable price. When Stan gave me an estimate I said " Why so cheap?" and Stan replied "You still complaining?" hahahaha... Very respectfful to customers. I have a toyota and he can fix toyotas with no problems.
