If I could give this store negative stars I would. They have a huge assortment of items which is a pro, but I refuse to further dedicate any money to an establishment that treats their customers like garbage. Employees lack professionalism. They talk about other customers, swear, and act as if you're bothering them by asking for assistance. I thought that this was a one employee experience, but it is a systemic problem from the manager down. Like any other Hobby Lobby it has just about anything you're looking for and then some. I've gotten a lot of cute wall decor here along with unique shelving! I've been here a few times and would give them five stars but several times I've almost been knocked into and rolled over by dollies and employees walking through. Wow this was the first time I've walked in here and OH.MY! It is massive!!! None of the other craft stores even compare to half the size. They have so much product and a huge huge variety of absolutely everything. I'm still on shock on how much they had and I didn't even hit half the store! Opening up in San Diego was a great move. They have everything and anything you need for your projects. Great selections and good prices. Staff was friendly and helpful. However, I do have a few concerns when my daughter & I were checking out. Their policies & their way of transacting is so dated. 1) First, as big as Hobby Lobby is I'm so shocked they have no scanning system in place for check out. The cashier has to manually enter every item. No wonder the lines are so long and take long to move. This made me think how much inventory can be lost. 2) My daughter showed the cashier the item that was on sale from the online site but the supervisor informed us that do not honor the online prices. They have different prices than the store. 3) Lastly, my daughter changed her mind on an item that was already entered in the system right in the middle of all our purchases. The cashier told us she CANNOT void anything out and would have to start all over with our transaction. She said she was only allowed 1 void a day and that she already used it. She had to call her supervisor to void the whole transaction and start all over again. Hobby Lobby is a great company, however, to be more efficient in moving inventory and consumers, they really need to invest in a NEW/CURRENT cash register with using the bar code and scanner. This would definitely make the cashiers jobs more easier. Work smarter not harder. read more

This store is pretty huge arts and crafts overdose that's for sure. Second time shopping at this store. This store a lot better then the one off of 4th ave Chula Vista. I'm not surprised to see many bad reviews about customer service. I experienced this today. I always come here and love their stuff. Online is just not the same. I prefer to see everything in store. I came in today and my toddler fell asleep in the car. I ended up holding him in one hand and walked in to browse. I saw a beautiful vase and moved it to see the price. I didn't realize the frame behind it was being held by the vase and it had no stand. The picture frame fell back once I moved the vase and it fell on other frames which caused some figurines to fall and break. One woman who worked there seemed a bit annoyed but the icing on the cake was when I tried to move something and something else broke. She asked rudely are you done? Why don't do you try to place your displays to avoid these accidents. And accidents happen. I did not purposely do it and felt bad about it already. I felt even worse with her attitude. I think I'll stick to homegoods. Lines are always long too. read more

Called for a floor check of an item I was looking for. They said it was in stock and i asked if it could be put on hold for me and gladly said yes. Well, i go later in the day to pick it up, to horrible customer service. They hardly looked for the item, when I asked where the item could be found they just pointed that way. I was shocked at what horrible service they have. I worked with customers for years the least you can do is walk them to the right direction. long story short, the item that was put on hold, was not there, no help at all from the sales associates they didnt even bother to look for it up front, just a half ass sorry when i walked out the door. very dissapointed how unhelpful they are :(. read more

I recently went To the La Mesa Hobby Lobby to find a special frame for my original watercolor. I was so pleased to have Becka in the framing department to help me find a reasonable priced frame I could afford. A special order frame wasn't going to work. But, I was able to find a barn wood frame on the sales floor and Becka was able to Dry Mount it and put a professional hanger on the back and do it all in ONE hour. As promised, Becka called me and I received a beautiful frame for my watercolor. Becka, has great customer service skills and even escorted me up front to the cashier holding the over sized frame for me. She was extremely helpful and pleasant. A co-worker came into the department to give her a break but, wouldn't go until she escorted me up front with my picture. Becka is a great asset to Hobby Lobby and I am so glad to have met her. I will continue to bring all my original works of art to have Becka frame them. Thank you too Hobby Lobby for hiring individuals like Becka that really have GREAT customer service skills, that make you want to come back to your store over and over again. I had been into this store earlier and purchased a few things. Once I got home I realized they had overcharged me for an item. No worries, mistakes happen. I went back and got into the return/exchange line. Even though I was in line they were having an issue with the gentleman's return who was in front of me. They put up a register closed sign. After no one acknowledged me I went over to the regular line. I saw there was another return register which also had a register closed sign. An elderly woman with grey hair who was some sort of a manager removed the register closed sign. So, I walked up to that register to ask if I could make a return. She held up to her arm at me and very rudely told me to back away as the new clerk was counting her register. First maybe do not take down the sign until the register is open. This review is for that manager alone as I had to spend time going back because an item was rung up incorrectly. Secondly, do not so rude to your customers. It's a bad look for your company and you are old enough to know better. read more

Very clean store but the beading and craft sections are downsizing. They used to carry a wider selection at better pricing. I was especially disappointed that they are no longer carrying crucifixes and rosary findings. They are becoming more of a decoration store. I still enjoy shopping but don't buy much because the price is more than what you pay at Michael or joJoan.But what you get is a quality and pleasant shopping experience. read more

I have been here several times since it opened. At first I loved it. All the great art and craft supplies all neatly organized with plenty of space in the aisles. Then I went to get rung up and the cashiers have to remember the promos or manually look them up. And if you need to return anything it's the same way. Takes way too long to buy anything or return anything and I'm not sure it's accurate. I prefer it to Michaels or Joannes. You can save money when you use the app. read more

This is the first hobby lobby i have ever been to and let me just say it was awesome! Next time i need decorating ideas or items i will be back! Each area is set up according to theme to make it very easy for you to set up your theme. The fabric selection is also very large as well. The only downside to this place is the parking lot. The shopping center is shared with a ToysRUs and some others and people do not seem to know how to park here. Sure fire way to get your car dinged just from witnessing some of the horrific parking on my walk to the door. C'mon people, park your damn cars right. read more

The ladies are so sweet, but they make so many mistakes every time with each person that the line the last 3 times I've been took an hour and I only had 3 people in front of me!!! This happens every single time, even if u get there right when they open. Same thing, doors opened, 3 people were ahead of me in line. Took an hour! It's actually very painful. I wish I had time to waste, but I don't :( I love the items and the company values so much though, I have to keep it at a 5. This place sucked totally. Got my daughters college degree customer framed here for $107+. Was supposed to be ready 2/4. Waiting to hear from the shop that it was ready and nothing, nothing, nothing. Called on 2/28. Her degree was framed and sitting in their shop since 2/2. No one ever called. They discounted it by $17 but, when I went to pick it up, I had to stand in line for 20 mins to pay for it!! I would think if you pre-ordered a framed article, you would not have to stand in line to pay for it!! I would never recommend this place to anyone and I will never use it again!! read more

Well this was my first time going to this place and I thought of the place as being pretty ok store I pick up a few hobby paints and when I got home and looked at my receipt I notice I was charged for 2 things that I didn't get. I had to go back the next day and take everything that I bought with me so tbet can check it off then they would give me a refund. This store is brand new to me and my wife, and we love this place. Well she loves this place more than I do, but still, a fun place to shop. If you have home furnishing ideas and ways to decorate your house, this is a must stop for you. Every section of the store you will find something for your house. Great customer service! Shopping to decorate our new home took hours. Being 7 months pregnant and raining outside could have been a nightmare scenario for loading all of the items, but Steven took care of us! He loaded and managed to fit a barn door, oversized mirror, stair bookcase, map, flower pots, and misc. items into my medium-sized car IN SPITE of the rain. Really a poor experience checking out. I went to return an item without receipt. I was honest in saying it was 40% off when I purchased. The girl had everything ready to go, when manager Martha came over she was extremely unpleasant and rude. She was rude to the girl at the register and made her redo the return with 50% off the item. I ended up being there twice as long and leaving with less all while listening to Martha belittle this girl ringing me up. I was in disbelief at how cold and uncaring to the customers this lady was. Then as if that wasn't enough she didn't believe me when I spelled my name for her to write it down on their copy of the return slip and then forced me to get out my ID so she could check. I've been here many times, but today will be my last. There were many, many people waiting to check out and instead of keeping the cashiers on the floor, they were removing them. Both on the right and left of me, I heard the cashiers say, "sorry, I'm closed" multiple times. The customer at the register was waiting on an employee for something, so the line I was in was not moving at all. Taking into account all the newly closed lines and the fact that mine was not moving, we were now down to one working line. The lines were backed up at least ten people deep. The Sr. Asst. Manager was up at the front and didn't seem concerned about any of this. After ten to fifteen minutes, I realized how ridiculous this poor customer service was, so I abandoned my cart and left. There are just too many choices out there to tolerate such apathetic service. I'll stick to Michael's. read more

My worst visit ever!! The cashier I dealt with was named Tyler he was beyond rude I was in shock. He was working the return counter he was finishing up with a customer as I walked up with my return items to be next he then without looking at the line to see me called over to another customer to come over to be helped when he turned around and saw me and I said I've been waiting proceeded to ignore that fact and say well I already offered to help them you'll need to wait... Meanwhile I will add there were two other registers with cashiers that had nobody in front of them which I could not go to because I'm doing a return but that other customer could have been taken care of immediately.when he finished with that customer I have to say he gave me attitude I placed my items on the counter he then looked at me and said I need you to move your purse in a rude manner I was quite shocked I've never experienced someone just being blatantly rude and their tone of voice no please no nothing my purse wasn't in the way I was attempting to get my receipt. I did accidentally give him the wrong receipt and in a very rude tone he handed it back to me and said this is in the receipt I can't help you I then pulled out the correct receipt he made no eye contact with me just stared at the cash register looking annoyed finally ran my return handed me my receipt and said you're finished.I will tell you right now his mannerisms and his tones were so rude that I was going to make a purchase I decided against that if they don't appreciate me as a customer I will keep my dollars to myself let me also add I will not be shopping there again for quite some time if at all I don't give my dollars to people who do not treat me respectfully and politely.if anyone at the store is reading this review I hope you sit down with Tyler and have him work on his customer service skills his lack of attention to detail making sure he's taking care of the appropriate customer at the appropriate time and that he speaks to them politely and not in rude loud tones hobby lobby used to be a very friendly welcoming store one bad Apple sours the barrel and I no longer will be shopping there I also plan to contact corporate because Tyler does need to work on his customer service skills read more

Definitely a step up from Michael's and Joann's (the 2 craft stores I'm used to visiting for all my crafty needs)! I feel like this store has it all! Some items are even priced lower too. The 1 thing preventing me from giving this a 5 star is the distance I have to travel to get here hahah and on top of that, it felt a little hard to navigate through the store to find what I needed. Other than that, I really appreciate the variety they have displayed. I spent a lot more money than needed simply because I got lost in this crafty abyss haha.
