Located in the same plaza as Barnes & Nobles, right off the 163. The plaza is currently under construction but the store is still open. Great place for learning supplies for teachers and students. They often have promo discounts so look out for those! We enjoy coming here for their bi-weekly free events for kids. There's a monthly theme for the events. Additional to the free event activity, they also have multiple other activities going at the same time in case your kids don't want to do the specific featured event (such as a scavenger hunt to get a prize - a scented sheet stickers, coloring, or other hands on activities to theme). There are also so many toys the kids can play with around the store, my kids usually need some coercing to leave. Hah. Again, a great place to buy learning toys, books, arts & crafts items or just hang out and keep the kids busy. read more

I was awarded some money through a grant request and bought a big rug for the reading area in my school library. It came fast and the delivery guy brought it all the way to my library. Now I can replace the dingy little rug that's there with this enormous 9x12 reading rug so all kids fit on it. Its beautifully made and super sturdy. I can't wait for the kids to see it! read more

Lakeshore is one of the last standing teacher stores in the area. It has survived by reaching out to kids and parents with workshops and advertising. It's a little costly, but they often have coupons or sales. Lakeshore has everything you need to start up your classroom. read more

I have been a teacher for 7 years, and today I decided to go to Lakeshore (the last time I visited this store was about 10 years ago). I walked out of there MIND BLOWN! The back to school sales are INSANE, and just EVERYTHING is quality material! The workers were constantly checking in with me and also offering to go check the back for more supplies! I feel like I have missed out for years now! They truly have the best selection and can't beat the prices for the amount/bulk they sell! I walked out of there with the best deals and the best items to set me up for the year! read more

I'm not a teacher or student... I'm an artist who needed to laminate a piece of artwork that was too big for my home laminator. Someone told me that Lakeshore had a large laminator for dirt-cheap. I entered the store to the genuine smiles of the staff who pointed me in the direction of the laminator. It was pretty self-explanatory but the staff person still came over to ask if I needed assistance, which I so appreciated. She gave me great advice (to laminate the artwork twice for a harder finish) and was just super friendly and I really dug her kindness! Her name was Chandraya and kudos to her and the entire store for being so very helpful and inexpensive! read more

I have bought a number of supplies and props for my program here that I can't get anywhere else without ordering online. Great customer service and return policy. read more

Such a fun learning toy store for kids and teachers. I didn't have much time to walk around to get look at the entire selection of toys but I was impressed. The toys are all interactive and help kids learn all sorts of things. From reading time, counting, math and critical thinking skills. There was also I nice section for teachers, decor for the classroom. Little prizes and toys you can give out to students. I found so many things for my niece for Christmas. I like the fact that these items are not just toys but they are learning tools. There is also an art section with colored papers, paints and brushes. Book section in the back. And all the items have age recommendations so you can pick the toys for your child's age group. Even as an adult I found this store fun to walk through. I noted some items I will come back for Christmas gifts. read more

I still enjoy coming to this place at the beginning of the school year. I come here, not only because they always have exactly what I need, but they always have good sales and teacher discounts with membership in their Teacher Club. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lakeshore-learning-store-san-diego?select=ej7rhunO0mYDTpdItMozRA#ej7r) I picked a class set of desk name tags with useful curriculum information on them, and I picked up some Common Core supported materials in writing, reading comprehension, and vocabulary development. They were all at reasonable prices after the discount was applied. Oh yes, with a check in, you will receive and additional 25% off on non sale item. I did, yippee! The employees are very helpful and very friendly at the register. Now I need to focus and start preparing for the upcoming school year.. read more

One stop shop for all educational needs!! I really do LOVE this place. They have everything ranging from storage bins (various sizes, colors, shapes), read aloud books, posters, charts, resources for parents assisting kids with filling in gaps in their child's learning or just plain old review of concepts. Seriously, the list is endless. And if you don't find what you need IN STORE; they'll order items from their warehouse for you and ship it to your house for FREE! I recently did this with some math workbooks I wanted to purchase for my classroom. I gave it 4 out of 5 only because of price of items. I'm a teacher and the items here are absolutely wonderful, but despite discounts and back to school specials, items still can be pricey. Will I be back? Absolutely! As a matter of fact, I'm probably going back tomorrow!! read more

The cashier was very helpful and the girls on the floor were really sweet. My favorite Lakeshore to shop at.

Now that I'm a parent of a young toddler, I understand the hype of Lakeshore. It hosts a weekly Saturday hands on art project from 11-3 for free! So you make the project (rocket with a straw to blow so that it propels as an example) and then you look around and shop in the store. While these educational toys are expensive, a bunch of them go on sale (20 to 50% off) every week and display models are available for your child to play with all over the store. Some shelves have small items for under $5 for great inexpensive fun gifts. You can get a 10% teacher's discount (free to apply) with your purchase. The people who work there are helpful and nice. We love going here! read more

I needed a last minute birthday gift for my niece. A colleague recommended Lakeshore Learning so I checked it out. Oh boy, they are a huge store filled with more educational and crafty toys. This might also be a teacher store as there were classroom decorations and workbooks on one side of the store. The staff wonderfully assisted me in selecting different presents--all of which were a hit for a picky little girl. So happy to have found this place: I'll be shopping here for gifts until my niece becomes a teenager and just wants a phone or money. read more

Great options for presents that are not only fun but teach our precious little ones the skills they need to flourish!

This store is pretty cool. As I walked in, the store had some door buster sales. There was so many items for kids, mostly educational including books, flash cards, crayons, etc. Pretty cool if you have kids or nieces and nephews. As I walked further back in the store, there was kinetic sand that kids were playing with. A lot to sample out here. There were employees assisting customers if you had any particular questions about the items they carry. In the back, crayons and colored markers were on sale. Aisles were organized and clean but it's difficult to maneuver in the store especially when there are a lot of people in the store. Once in awhile the store will have activities outside in front of their location with arts and crafts. The kids get to take their creations home once they are done. Pretty cool store! read more

Walking into this store is a teacher's dream and worst nightmare all at the same time. They have all of the perfect tools needed to enhance your classroom, but they come at a very steep price. Although the constant flow of coupons is nice, getting all those extra things you just need for your classroom can put a dent in your wallet or classroom budget. I do want to highlight the customer service at this location. I'm continually impressed by how kind and attentive the staff is here. Around each corner, they are ready to offer suggestions or help if you need it. I had a huge issue with a return a while back and they did everything they could to resolve it and get me the products that I needed. I really appreciate the customer service here. The store is clean, neat and easy to navigate. I love coming here! read more

I will not be shopping here anymore due to the blatant lie from an employee. When I was at the register, I inquired about their teacher discounts and the employee said they no longer offer it because they have switched to a rewards program. I said fine and purchased my item anyways. After researching, I found a website that says they offer teacher discounts, so I went back to the store and after showing the same lady what I found through my phone, she responds by saying three things: 1) The only discounts they give for teachers are classroom decorations. 2) The discount was already applied to my receipt 3) My member account was now converted to a teacher account. All three statements were a lie because 1) She stated there was no longer a teacher discount program, but the only thing discounted for teachers are classroom decorations. So, which is it? 2) I looked at the receipt and there was NO discount applied. 3) How can she state that my membership was converted to a teacher account if there was no such program to begin with? Needless to say I will no longer be shopping from this store again. Their prices are high to begin with and the fact that a store employee would lie and then smile after being called out on her lies is a major turn off. I am an educator and will be telling my other co-workers about this place. If you are in need for school supplies, just shop at office depot or amazon. read more

Extremely kind staff and they were willing to help provide ideas when I was stuck in my planning.

The customer service at this location is the best I've received from a company since Covid hit. I was instantly greeted when I walked in, and when the line went away they asked if I needed help with anything. They even interacted with my child while he played with the displays. They had a lot of great activities for learning and I will definitely be back for some math manipulatives. They even have programs on the children on the weekends read more

This place is awesome!! Great stuff for learning! It is very educational store. A bit pricey on the materials they have. They have items that you won't be able to find at a Walmart nor Target. Great for teachers for their classroom. Highly recommended. read more

Lakeshore has it all, if you are a proactive parent and enjoy teaching your children new things and watching them learn and grow than this place is definitely a place to visit. This is the teacher's mecca. Everything you could ever want for your classroom and more. Makes you wish you could expand your classroom and the hours in the school day to accommodate all of Lakeshore's fun learning activities! On Saturday afternoon they have free craft time available to any kid who is interested. And their membership card is something worth checking out; save 15% on purchases, all of which adds up with supplies for the year. The store is extremely organized; by subject and then developmental stage. Music, language, science, math, art, etc. etc. etc. The staff is extremely friendly and is very knowledgeable about where things are and seem to be pretty creative when coming up with ideas and solutions to problems brought in by customers. The prices are a little costly for some items especially when you start to add up individual items for the classroom. Gets a little steep. But who can put a price on knowledge? read more

I remember when I was in elementary school, I used to come in here with my mommy =) to buy my teachers gifts. They have so much stuff here for any teacher's classroom. Great variety of material for the classroom, of all ages...and I've taught every grade except 1st!! (Well, K-6) Anyhow, Lakeshore has a lot of stuff and it's useful. It's a bit pricey for the public educator in me, but...sometimes you gotta spend money to shape young minds. I do wish to disagree with Amy C., though...nothing in that store would make me want to expand the hours in the school day...don't get me wrong, I love teaching, but...a longer school day isn't good for anyone... read more

This store has all kinds of teaching resources. It's a pleasant surprise to come in and not find a line to the door like the one in my area. There was even books and items outside the store on sale. This is an educational supply store for teachers and parents, too. Lakeshore is a chain, so there is consistency, and you can count on them having what you need in stock, for the most part. They have school art supplies, although you can get a better deal online at other school supply sites. Good place to buy educational toys, too. Their website has customer reviews for all their products, which is helpful. read more

The staff here is friendly and helpful. They have tons of great educational supplies. Although some things are on the more expensive side, you will find quality things here. This is the first store that always gets recommended to me by veteran teachers. I just wish they had a better teacher rewards card. As it stands I think you get 10 cents off the lamination and a 10-15% off things like posterboards. They send out coupons and deals through email occasionally but keep your eyes peeled for the storewide sales! :) read more

Great place for teacher resources aka Teacher Heaven! If you subscribe to their texts program you get coupons that really come in handy. They always have things on sale whether its the beginning of the school year or the end. I have my card on My keychain so even if I get stuff that's not marked down I always get a discount ! Btw you don't have to be a teacher to get the discount benefits ! They also offer workshops on Saturdays, so you can bring the kiddies to make crafts and look at new books, maybe even get a Spanish book or cd? A continent puzzle, a sensory book in Spanish, a cd about animal songs, whatever their little minds are interested in they must have it! I could spend hours and hours just looking at all the books, different teaching resources and colorful things to decorate classrooms with. Sometimes I just come in for fun, but I always end up buying stuff :) The staff is always super friendly and very helpful. They always keep you up to date on workshops or upcoming sales. The store has a section where kids can just sit down and look at books or listen to the CDs that they are playing. I've never seen a child going out of control in this store. They always seem to feel at ease because they can pretty much touch everything and find something to keep themselves occupied. read more

I remember getting a Lakeshore $200 "voucher" from my school district during my first years as a teacher, and visiting this place, in search of math manipulatives. That was 15 years ago, and though I recall thinking that it was they had a pretty great selection of math supports at the time, I hadn't been back until becoming a dad two years ago. Now, Lakeshore is a regular haunt, and our daughter has become a big fan. Count on this place to have quality stuff (not cheap stuff), that will help kids develop a variety of thinking skills. The coolest part is that it looks and feels like a toy store (our little one thinks it is!), but it's chock full o' great learning "toys". read more
