One of the owners, Diane, was very pleasant and friendly in nature. One could tell she has a beautiful soul. My friend is a joker but loved and appreciated the quality of the work and had last been there about 5 years ago but remembered the excitement and pleasant experience at the store. It was a pleasant experience to enjoy my first time here with my friend and Diane. As I walked around the store I instantly fell in love with a small pair of green and blue glass earrings. I knew I wanted something to buy as a memorabilia. I must say of all of the pieces of jewelry that I own and as expensive as mine are, that these earrings are my favorite!!! They were inexpensive but so beautiful, caught the light in a way that was absolutely stunning on my complexion. Love them and have worn them every day since. As I was going to pay for my earrings my friend took notice of a beautiful peacock that was blue, green and had streaks of gold. When asked if I liked it of course I did who doesn't like peacocks, it was gorgeous. To my surprise, My friend bought me the small Peacock and my earrings!!! Of all the gifts that I have these are my prize possessions. They're absolutely beautiful, well made and made with love. I knew this shop was special and I can see that it's because of the integrity and craftsmanship that goes into each piece. Diane is a blessing and I wish nothing but good health, success and happiness for her and her family. I can't wait to bring my out of town family here!!! There's only a few places that I frequent and this will be one of them when I'm in the area to appreciate the art and buy something and the other is the seashell shop in Morro Bay, CA.

I wanted to bring a piece of beautiful San Diego home with me. We met with Diane and talked about what I was looking for and she offered so many wonderful ideas. We went home and I took all types of pictures of our home and sent them to Diane so that she could get a feel for who we were and how we liked to live our lives. After emails and all my silly questions, (Diane is very patient) we had her create two (2) fluted pendants to hang in our kitchen over our island and she created a inverted fluted bowl to hang over our dinette table. They are amazing. Words can not describe how beautiful they are. The colors are so rich and lush. We love them and every time I look at them I think of San Diego. Diane you are very sweet. Thank you for the beautiful pieces you created for us. We will be back very soon to San Diego Diane and we will be in to visit....I'm thinking centerpiece for dining room table now. So.... We immediately made a reservation for a class and got a private class 2 weeks later. And here we are... The class was so fun! We started with a clump of clay and ended up with wonderful, functional, and pieces of art. Our teacher, Leah, was a great teacher! She was patient and explained everything! She had the perfect balance of teaching and then letting us work the clay a little of our own way. She kept us on track so we actually made 2 very unique pots. Very unique is my way of saying crooked and lopsided but lots of character. Lol We had a solid hour and got to work a few different pieces. For the price and friendliness and fun, I suggest this class for beginners or any level really. Oh! And check out the awesome pottery for sale! Leah is an amazing artist with some very nice pieces for sale.

They can accommodate 8 people at a time. Could have used a little more instruction (but I did watch you tube videos before hand which was helpful) if you want to go it all on your own. The friendly staff will help you make it look like what you want if you don't mind assistance. The studio dog Buttercup is super sweet and friendly. The service is also really good, they are always eager to help you whenever you are having trouble. For someone who has never done this before, I really appreciated the help! The colors are also really nice that they let you choose and there is a plenty of selection for the colours. Your items become avabile about 2-3 weeks after we had out event. The parking can be a bit difficult as there is a smalll parking lot in the side but it can get filled really fast. I had no trouble with parking when actually doing the class but when we picked up the items it was a bit crowded.

Sooooo... where do I start?!?…read more I have completed a couple of metalwork classes in the past - full on semester-long courses - and I feel like I learned more in one afternoon at AC Silver Co with Aaron. Studio space: The studio space was clean, organized, comfortable, and frankly, inspiring. It is set up in such a way that I wanted to immediately drop my bags and get to work. Good work gets done there, that's the vibe. If you are a creative then you know how important the right workspace is. If you are not creatively experienced, you'll be spoiled by such a nice space! Aaron put as much care into the flow and design of his space as he does each of his pieces and it shows. He was also super patient in giving me directions because apparently I just wasn't listening well that day and I would have been frustrated with me, but he was chill and patient and ready when I got there. The Artist/Teacher: As I said, Aaron is so nice! And so ready to share knowledge and work with you at your level. You need to watch more than do? He's got you. You want to be more hands-on? He's got you there, too. I was under a time crunch myself, and I would have loved to take more of a role in the fabrication of the ring for my then soon-to-be-wife, but due to other circumstances I was less hands on than I would have liked. Still, Aaron kept me involved in the process and showed me how to do things so I was still putting energy into the ring, and I was really grateful for that. Overall Experience: Overall, the experience was fantastic. I felt like I was hanging with a friend making art. Aaron was just as invested in meeting my deadline as I was out of his own sense of commitment to making sure that his clients leave with something in hand, on top of the urgency of needing the ring that weekend. I brought in a stone he hadn't worked with before, and he worked out a way to use the stone since he knew there was a sentimental reason behind it. I am so grateful for his persistence in figuring out a way to use it, and for his patience and knowledge throughout the whole experience. He even checked in with me after the ceremony to see what she thought of the ring, and of course, his design suggestions were on point because I went with them and she loved the final result so much she almost cried. I've visited Yarn and Thread Expressions three times now and every visit has been genuinely…read morewonderful. The shop isn't open every day, and while part of me wishes it were, it actually makes catching it open feel like a treat. It turns a simple supply run into something I look forward to. My first visit was just to browse. I picked up a few skeins from the discontinued/orphan bin and some fun extras for a crocheter friend. The selection immediately stood out -- this isn't big-box store yarn. The fibers are higher quality and much more enjoyable to work with. On my second visit I purchased a beautiful wool/alpaca blend hank for fingerless gloves. Carol balled the yarn for me and then taught me how to split it into two equal balls for my project. The concept honestly confused me at first, but she explained that you divide by weight rather than yardage -- and suddenly it clicked. One of those "aha" moments you remember later. Shortly after, I returned for two more hanks of the same yarn. Carol again walked me through using the swift and ball winder. I even sat at the big studio table ripping out a glove... twice... while she patiently taught two young students to crochet. Watching her explain foundation chains and rows made it clear she isn't just a shop owner -- she's a gifted teacher. Most recently, I brought in gloves I was struggling to finish. She patiently explained the construction in a way my brain could actually process and showed me an alternate method that achieved the same result but was much easier to understand. That kind of support is priceless. Carol consistently shows kindness, patience, and deep knowledge of fiber arts. The shop also carries a huge variety of patterns for knitters and crocheters at every skill level. Parking can feel confusing the first time, but it's easy once you know: there's a lot behind the building -- enter via the driveway to the left of the neighboring house -- plus plenty of street parking. As long as the shop is open, I'll keep coming back. This place feels less like a store and more like a fiber community.
