Once walking in? You our greeted by the cute pup named buttercup. The staff were welcoming, informative and helpful. This was our first time but was such a great experience. You are provided with 2 clay bricks and are allowed to take 1 home. Once you have a vision for what you would like to make, the staff helps guide you along. There's an additional fee for the extra one which is not bad. You are able to pick out what color you like and also how you want the bottom to be engraved. The overall value and selection is worth it all. The experience was so fun and I would encourage you to come check them out. They even gave us a tour of the back where they do the firing and coating.

I started at Ceramic Heights with my daughter at one of their Muddy Time classes and was forever hooked. I appreciate the opportunity to get the intro class and then practice (over and over) with their studio packs. I combined my practice time with you tube videos and have advanced considerably in the past 10mos After being a stay at home mom for many years, I have a creative outlet that brings me so much joy. This would not of been possible without the reasonable pricing that Ceramic Heights offers. This studio has been a gift to me and to my family who benefit from my happiness bc I practice the art of ceramics. Thank you, Ceramic Heights: Amanda, Bailey, Jazz, and Buttercup.

Ceramic Heights is a great spot for beginners, and they have options for more skilled artists too. I have signed up for multiple Muddy Time classes ($32/person, 1 hour of wheel time, 2 balls of clay, 1 item fired and glazed included). It's a fun spot to come to alone or with a friend as the staff is friendly and helpful. Instructors guide you through the basic steps of creating a piece but let you have a lot of time to yourself to gain experience. You do have to sign up for Muddy Time months out or look for a last minute spot that opens up (they have a great cancellation policy). I heard that you can get a few hours of unguided wheel time, and they have recurring classes that have a long wait-list. This is one of the best deals I've seen to create a piece and have it finished by the studio. I highly recommend getting a reservation in for a Muddy Time class!

What a FUN date night. This place is amazing! I've never made pottery BUT I can't wait to come back again! It's so relaxing! Think of what you wanna make before you arrive. Don't wear your best clothes, you will get a little dirty. It's only an hr long so make sure you do a little research on what you wanna make. They offer two blocks of clay, the wheel colors and designs for $25. The two ladies working made our experience so fun! They were a lot of help! Understand that they only have 6 wheels and if you are thinking of booking same day, think again. They are book out pretty far in advance! So make sure you sign up soon. Can't wait to see our finish products!

I can make this review really long and detailed but I will try not to lol I'm going to try to keep it as simple and short and straight to the point as possible. I want to start by saying Amanda is hands down one of the best business owners I have ever met. Her friendliness, welcoming personality and attention to detail with her clients makes her customer service hands down out of this world! I had been in touch with her throughout the week hoping to get myself from my fiancee in on such short notice this past weekend. She not only allowed me to call and text her throughout the week to double check for openings but her herself contacted me to let me know there was availability for us. That was beyond appreciated. She also had another young woman working there who is also very friendly and helpful. Together they both made this place very welcoming and enjoyable. And to me like always, customer service is number one. This is a great activity for any occasion. A highly recommended for anyone either trying to get in to this regularly or for the occasional date night. I'm sure other pottery studios are fantastic but this one can't be beat in San Diego. I know my fiance and I will be back sooner than later and hopefully anyone reading this review will give them a chance as well.

My boyfriend took me here for a date and it was really fun! The owner of the studio is really fun and super friendly, it really made the atmosphere of the ceramics class feel more like a group of friends hanging out than an actual ceramic class. You get two pieces of clay and whichever one you like more, you get to keep. It's about 3-4 weeks after the class you take before you can pick up your art piece. It was a really cute date night and a unique experience with everyone that attended the class that night!

their classes are so good. the price was super reasonable and my girlfriend and i got to share a wheel. they give you a lot of freedom but also a lot of support if you ask. the place is super cute, 10/10 recommend!

Booked my 32nd birthday at Ceramic Heights. We had a party of 14 I believe, with 2 kids hanging out. The 2 kids waited in front. Amanda had activities for them to do at the table while us adults stayed occupied. Imagine a bunch of grown ass adults creating pottery and catching up. What better way to spend your birthday?! Amanda has 6 tables in her shop so with a large party, expect to take turns. It isn't a problem at all though, as it's fairly quick to make something when you don't know what you're doing. Everything we made was super cool and unique i'll definitely come back to create more rad stuff!

Heavy emphasis on really beautiful stuff. Makes me wish I was Catholic. Not in the Vatican/catechisms kind of way. More in the ancestor-worshipping kind of way. They bring gorgeous artisanal materials from various regions in the south, and they really get a lot of great stuff. My living space is getting progressively more Mexican despite my best efforts to avoid buying more. They also do workshops in the fall to make sugar skulls, pinatas, and those papel picado (paper cut banners) as well as paper mache skulls. Super cool. Wish I had an 8 year-old to drag with me. Kind of like Vintage Religion on 30th, except this place is more specialized, more quaint, and though I like Vintage Religion, I just like Back from Tomboctou better.

While I walked away with new skills and 4 pieces that I am proud of, I found Misha's style of instruction difficult to follow and unpleasant at times. Misha began the first class by telling us that she will intervene if she notices our projects going south. However, on multiple occasions she purposefully stayed quiet when a student was having trouble and then when it was too late to save the piece, she said, "I was waiting for you to ask a question." This resulted in students having to scrap their projects without time to retry. I understand that Misha aims to strike a balance between hands-on assistance and letting students figure things out on their own, but her lack of intervention felt like punishment for not following her instructions well enough. I also found it challenging that Misha structured her classes by verbally explaining all of the tasks of the day at the beginning of class. After this intro, she did not speak much for the rest of the class. During several classes, she began to work on personal projects and did not seem approachable for questions. I would have appreciated a few more demonstrations and for instructions to be repeated throughout the class. Because this was a class intended for beginners, I expected a bit more patience and active involvement from Misha. The 5-week course was structured well and allowed students to learn the entire process making ceramics, but the style of instruction made the course harder than it had to be.
