This is the only hobby lobby I have been to. I'm a repeat customer. Prices are relatively cheap for what you are getting. I do like the variety of crafts and materials and tools available at a single store and not needing to drive around town looking for things in different stores. I have always received good customer service. Some even above and beyond. The only thing I did notice is that for a Saturday afternoon the lines were pretty long. Which I understand since they are closed Sundays. Not sure if they need to open more cashiers to help customers get out the door. But I'm usually not in a hurry when I visit so it hasn't really bothered me. I recommend you stop by for your hobby needs. Chances are you will find it and will get good customer service. read more

O like to buy small, crystal objects when i shop at Hobby Lobby. It can get busy in here, so i usually go in the evening. The store closes at 8:00 pm, so you have some time to shop. There is a lot of parking out from the store. However, often all of the handicapped parking spaces are taken. After Christmas sale was crazy!! I purposely went three days after Christmas because I missed everything in 2024. In 2025, shelves were cleared out and there were broken items or Christmas trees up for grabs. Well, I now have a second tree lol! I could not pass up this deal!!! A $600 tree for $150?!? I was super excited because it looks real and is beautiful. I'm so excited to decorate at the end of the year. I was impressed by the girl at checkout. She wasn't flustered by the crowds. The tree I was waiting to get packed for me ended up being packed and sold to someone else due to poor communication. I went in today to check if the fabric was on sale this week it's on sale Monday, but I decided to get a yard of fall for fabric that was 40% off. there was a employee standing by the fabric cutting station as I was walking there she walked off and I said excuse me you're the girl that does the cutting she didn't say anything just came back. Got in a drawer.. slammed a pair of scissors down a pen and the note pad. Then proceeded to remove the pins from the fabric where she stared at them for a little bit and then started to flick them off the table and onto the floor.. I have never seen anything like that so I just told her I'll come back Monday for this. Then she said oh it's OK first words she said.. I honestly didn't know what to say to her. The lines are out of control often including today. Only one line for returns but of course everyone is lining that line buying carts full of stuff. If every line is backed up why would you not at least hold the return/exchange line for that only and then maybe grab purchases if that line is empty. People should not have to wait in the only line to return something if it's a hybrid lane. Just make them all hybrid then. Poor management for sure. My adult granddaughter and I went shopping today at Hobby Lobby around 12:30- 1pm. We were going through the store selecting items we wanted to purchase and looking at the pictures. My granddaughter decided to look at the flowers while I headed back to the holiday section. She came to find me after about 15 minutes and told me 3 different persons followed her around the store who she believed were loss prevention. When we brought it to the attention of the manager, he denied it and made her feel like she didn't know what she was talking about. To bring more context to this review, my granddaughter is 1/2 black but looks black. Was she followed after we separated because she looked black? Was it because she was wearing a baseball cap? What would Jesus do? While driving back home she told me it happens to her all the time. I told her when that happens she needs to confront the person following her and ask them "Can I help you? I had been to the National City location and it was packed and the Christmas tree that I wanted was no longer in stock. I called this location in the hopes that they would actually answer the call and let me if they had the tree I was looking for, they did and it was the last one, Sixto was kind enough to hold it while I made my way there. The front line manager was super attentive and said not to hurry shop and we have it ready for you at the front. They even had an employee help load into the car! My complaint is regarding your floor manager Noami at the Grossmont Hobby Lobby. Situation: I approached the area to pay for my products. Noami approached me and said "Sir, you can go to this line. For one I am a woman(birth). I stood for a minute stunned. The cashier stated you can come to this window. I stated I didn't move because she address me as "Sir". The cashier apologized for the floor managers wrongful determination of gender. I was so upset. I ushered the floor manager over and advised. Next time take a lot before you address some gender inappropriately. Naomi floor manager looked at me & walked off. Never apologizing for incorrect her observation. This individual had placed items at Rita, the cashier, counter and was allowed to cut in line of about 10 people as Rita placed her items on "hold" while she retrieve forgotten items. This store is just like any other Hobby Lobby but could definitely benefit from retraining their staff. Not one person on the sales floor to ask for help, and the cashier was not friendly at all. I usually go when I'm in need of some arts and crafts material and they usually have it. I went twice recently and for the most part had everything I need for my personal projects. Every time I've went however, no one greets you at the door unless you purchased an item while leaving. The cashiers are either in a good or bad mood, but I usually assume it has to do with a previous bad interaction that day with another customer. The prices are good and things are usually on sale so most things are affordable or sold at a good price. Hobby Lobby used to be my go to place for all arts and crafts in the past, because they always gave me good deals, for example you came inside the store to but something, the employee would remind you at check out that you should use your phone to access Hobby Lobby website to get 50% of your entire purchase, so if you are buying a $20 item, you will only pay half, if you can't use your phone, they still apply discount for you at the register. That used to be the case, well not anymore. I came in today and thought I could get some good deal on poster frames or even some random figures since they have some limited stuffs I didn't see anywhere else. Everything is overpriced at this point, any small hot wheels which costed about $2 at the big retails, they would cost you $9-$12 before taxes, and forget about the frames because it's even more expensive than Michaels, but at least Michaels would still try to give you 10-20% off regular price. When I came to pay at the register and asked the employee about the discounts, she said no more, and I thought she was crazy, but she said due to some lawsuit regarding people cannot use their phones to get the discounts, they sued the company, so Hobby Lobby no longer doing that. Well let's fact check that, I Googled the lawsuit , it has nothing to do with the discounts, it was something about abortion and that was it. So not cool Hobby Lobby, you spreading lies among your own or your employee just misinformed me on stuffs, I don't get why you discontinued and will you be able to compete with other chains, I am wishing you good luck. One more thing I don't like about this store is that they close on Sunday, and any Christian holidays, I have nothing against their religion, I just found it inconvenient for others who want to shop here, but I guess from now after I found out about the discounts fiasco, I won't be back here anytime soon. read more

I made a visit to San Diego recently. I had the opportunity to be a tender in a creative project for such a beautiful city yet I had a disappointing experience while acquiring some much needed commodities. I went to this location over the summer and was shocked how primitive the amenities were for the customer experience. They do not use barcodes? The registers do not have scanners? Is this company a reenactment of u.s. commerce pre- 1980's !?! How is does this help the customer in their physical sensory of shopping? Or to the employees trying to provide the best service to their consumer. It doesn't, it can't. This would require double work from the manager. a level of work that I did not see getting accomplished. Alining the values of customer satisfaction done through employee ease. I was disappointed to learn from a team member that morning, that due to the complexity in frequent arraignment of sales and discounts without scanning abilities and or efficiency in coordinating updates and changes to the teams on the floor, especially to the front line (registers) - massive setbacks and mistakes are manifested. I watched and waited and could not understand why these staff members were setup for failure. Bringing impatience and frustration in myself and those in the line before me. This is management's responsibility in representing the "brand" through providing the best service to its customers and the best experience to its staff. Customer service and any other trades dealing with the public is the hardest occupation in my opinion. Overall, hobby lobby is an incredibly polarizing mixed bag of an experience. On one hand, it has an amazing selection of excellent art and home decor options, most of which are sold for excellent prices. On the other hand, customer service quality is a huge hit or miss, and the complete lack of any Halloween selections is frustrating and head scratching; they have seven isles dedicated to fall and Thanksgiving, six dedicated to Christmas, and still have Fourth of July options available, which makes the absence of anything relating to Halloween even more odd. If the customer service could be improved and at least an aisle worth of Halloween options to select from, then I would be happy to improve my review for Hobby Lobby. read more

OMG I can spend hours in here! I spent a total of 3 hours on this day walking aisle to aisle twice to ensure I didn't miss any sale items. This place is the best discounted wall and home décor department store. Think about arts and crafts of Michaels, fabric of Joanes, and Ross, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Living Spaces, Pier 1 Imports, all under one roof! What you won't get are kitchen items like utensils, bathroom pieces, and bathroom sheets. It's mainly home and wall décor for tiny to large houses as their items can be as tall as me! What I love about Hobby Lobby are the prices for quality items. There are always sales of at least 50% off items such as home décor, frames, flowers, etc. It rotates weekly so pay attention. Regular items can be purchased with the 40% coupon from the app. I would recommend downloading the app and do your searching and save items to your wish list to check for sales. One week, a certain home décor item I saved in my wish list was on sale for 50% which was more than using the 40% but then few days later, it went back to regular price. Checked back again the next week and it was marked down to 66%! Heck Yeah! Hobby Lobby has all types of themes such as Farm House, Ranch, Comics, Western, Coastal, Girlie, everything interior design you have in mind for your home at awesome prices. If you're throwing a party, you can find items to plan out your event or decoration your home according to the holidays. It's July and there are already October fall items and Christmas available. They capture all holidays, right now it's Independence day. For the most part, their items are organized by themes but it moves all the time. One day it'll be in one aisle and then it's cleared out the following week and in another. That's why I walk aisle to aisle twice to find the items I saved on my wish list. If you're in a hurry, you can always ask but then that would take the fun out of scavenger hung. However, I was looking for a particular window frame which this location does not have and the she recommended me to call the Chula Vista location to give the sku number. Turns out that the La Mesa location is smaller than the Chula Vista. The future Mira Mesa location will be the largest. I got 9 out of 10 items at this location and was missing that window frame. I called Chula Vista and indeed, they had it in stock and held it for me on the side for same day pick up. The return policy at Hobby Lobby is 90 days with receipt, without receipt is okay too because each item has a pricing sticker that says "Hobby Lobby" so you know it's an original item from their store. Must have the label to return. Also, an item on line may say it's "sold old" but chances are, you'll find it in store. I was bummed that an item I wanted was "sold out" according to the app but thanks to going aisle to aisle I found it at another location away from the actual theme. Again, you can always ask for customer service to take you directly there. Hobby Lobby is also pet friendly so bring your fur babies! read more

This a cool place if you are into arts & crafts. I'm not that much, but I did need to come in to pick some lanyards and rings for my students to make key chains for father's day. I could not find them right away but a nice young lady who worked their helped me out. The bag of multi-color lanyards and rings were each $1 more than you can get them for at Walmart, but I was here already so I went for. I think they should give teachers discounts. read more

Walked in at 9am to the front end manager and cashier loudly talking major smack about an employee who called in late because of a flat tire. They were making a lot of assumptions about how long it should take and both of them were like "well I can change a tire" it should take x amount of time. Not everyone can change a tire, and calling for service can take some time. I've had two employees recently call out for tires, the recent flooding has brought a lot of debris into the roadways. When I was checking out two male employees were just gabbing away like there wasn't anything else to do just standing in front of the register section lording over and ignoring customer service. Blah. I have reservations about shopping here because of their religious views being pushed on employees, company theft and smuggling of religious artifacts, and they're closed Sundays which is eternally annoying when you need supplies for your small handmade business. Plus they don't scan anything which makes the lines long and checkout take forever. I just shouldn't shop here at all. The holier than though tire changing conversation got me though. Wow. read more

I found myself going round and round in this store business they don't have isle signs. They want to you to get lost and spend more time in the store. This store almost never has what I need. Which is wild, because it's huge and they have so much stuff. However, for whatever reason, they are always out of what I need and on the very rare chance you find an employee, they could not care less to tell you if they have any more of the item or if they are ever getting more in. They also aren't open on Sundays which is super annoying because that's when many people, even churchgoers, need to do errands. They also don't do any coupons or discounts which is pretty sad. Michaels and Joann's both do coupons AND military/teacher/student discounts. But, ya know, Hobby Lobby is closer and sometimes ya just gotta make do. Also, the cash registers don't seem to automatically apply the advertised discounts so you seem to have to rely on either the cashier knowing or you remembering. Seems like... not great for me. Anyway, the real reason I return to this store is Ruth at the fabric counter. Not sure if Hobby Lobby requires the fabric lady to be dead inside to be hired but if so, they lucked out. I have never seen anyone who appears to care less about anything ever in my life, never seen someone who appears so dead inside, so completely devoid of personality, in a customer service position and this is the Covid era so that's saying something.
