An online Hallmark order for a corporate event arrived incomplete despite expedited shipping, leaving me short just days before the event. After calling every Southern California location, Elam's was the only store with the inventory I needed, even though I'm based in downtown LA. Bella and the management team were incredible--they processed my order over the phone, accepted a shipping label from my corporate UPS account, and personally dropped the package off at UPS at the end of their shift. I have loved this store for years. Very kind and friendly people working there. But today I could not believe the way I was treated. I went in to buy some cards and I had 2 Rewards, the clerk told me one of the crown rewards was already used! I told her I just got them and had not used them. She said it was in the computer that it was used. She was explaining it and another clerk started talking and was so rude. I was in shock. I have never used the rewards online. I realized when I got home that is what they were saying. I am 81 years old and that is the only Hallmark store that I can walk to. I hope someone gets fired. read more

I've always been taken care of here. Not sure how many employees work here but someone is always asking if I need help. I found out to get on those "must have Xmas ornaments" that seem to show up on Instagram in the summer, you need to sign up on the hallmark registry. Staff went above & beyond to make sure I was in the list. It's a constantly changing seasonal store so buy it when you see it (if it's holiday or seasonal). Big selections and they call you when your orders arrive. Great operation here. read more

I haven't been in a Hallmark store in years. I used to buy cards there all the time over 20 years ago, but rarely purchase cards anymore. I decided to stop in because it was right next to the "big box" store I usually pick cards up from if I do need one. Talk about nostalgic! There are all kinds of goodies in this shop. From seasonal treats to fun Snoopy and Nightmare Before Christmas items. I even saw a few Loungefly bags for sale behind the register! The woman who checked me out was very sweet. She helped me sign up for the rewards program. Prior to helping me, I overheard her having a conversation with someone that I can only assume is a regular customer. The shop really has a warm, small business feel. The next time I need a card, or a small gift, I will come here first! I ordered a Christmas ornament online and had it shipped here to avoid lying the shipping costs. It came very quickly and the process was very easy. I came on a weekday late afternoon to pick up my ornament but since it was the holiday season, finding parking was an absolute nightmare. When I finally parked and got in I was impressed. I knew this was a larger location but I have never been to a hallmark as large as this. They had everything you can possibly imagine and I know in the future I will be back to look for items. I went to the register to be helped and there was a very short line that took no time at all to get through. When I got to the front I told the cashier that I was picking up an order and showed her the information on my phone. She had a hard time finding where my ornament was and had to check 3 different areas but she finally found it and that was that. It was a super easy and simple process and I was out in under 10 minutes. Everything was good and I know I will do ship to the store in the future and will also come back to look at gift shop items I may need. read more

It's a typical Hallmark store, but bigger. It's sort of tucked into the back corner of Grossmont Shopping Center. There's actually two entrances, one on the backside and the main entrance in the front across from where World Market is. This store has been here forever. I remember coming in here with my Nonna when I was a kid. They carry pretty much everything here: cards, ornaments, wrapping products, a full range of gift items, toys, you name it. This is a good place to shop for candy too. Plus stickers! Lots and lots of stickers! I don't care how old you are, stickers never stop being fun! The service here is always good. The ladies here are always nice and full of smiles when I stop in. If I bring my son they are even friendlier, kids are always welcome here. read more

Up until recently I was a loyal customer to this particular Hallmark shop. In May I went in to purchase some graduation cards. The store was not very busy and upon going to check out no one was at the counter so I stood and waited. Within a minute or two a clerk came up and walked right past me with another customer, completely ignoring the fact that I was standing there. She went around the counter and waited on the customer, while I still stood there. The customer had made mention that the clerk had assisted her, but the clerk still remained silent. Then, after a few more minutes, another clerk came up and asked if I was with the customer, of which I noted I was not, but I had been waiting there. That clerk said she was sorry as she was also assisting another customer. The first clerk then made some comment under her breath and said something about "customer service." After the clerk rang up my items - no gold seals being offered as all the other store employees do - she handed me my bag and said, "I hope you have a better day" in a sarcastic tone. I replied that I was sure I would. Upon going to exit, I heard a snicker and when I turned around the two clerks were facing each other, talking. So much for customer service; it has gone out the window. I will begin to shop at another Hallmark store within the area and will not return to this one. It is a shame too, as the elder employees are all very nice and welcoming. read more

Great Hallmark! The broad assortment of cards is great & the the pickings for Valentine's Day are still a plenty. Tons of wrapping paper, apparel, gift bags, toys, etc. It is difficult to find good greeting card shops let alone a decent Hallmark & this location is less than 15 minutes from my house. Signed up for the Gold Crown card and look forward to racking up points towards discounts on future purchases. read more

Love this store and its selections BUT made the mistake of purchasing identical Christmas ornament on two separate occasions. Went back to store and was told "BECAUSE OF COVID YOU CANNOT RETURN ANYTHING THAT HAS LEFT OUR STORE." Give me a break!! The ornament had not been removed from the wrapping or the box. These excuses for unreturned merchandise are totally ridiculous!!! The powers that be cannot get their act together to present uniform directions regarding retail services. Since when is Hallmark, Walmart, Ross, TJ Maxx or Barnes & Noble an "ESSENTIAL" service? I can try on and return clothing to Macy's and Ross but not to Walmart? I can squeeze all the produce at Vons and Trader Joe's but I'd better not go in without a mask. This world has gone nuts just as many of the retailers!!!! read more

I have always shopped at this Hallmark. I collect the ornaments and have my whole life. A couple weeks ago I went here for the 2016 new ornament release weekend and was disgusted by the huge display of Donald Trump merchandise sitting next to the counter. At first I tried to give benefit of the doubt and looked for a display of Hillary Clinton merchandise, but there was none. I was in utter shock and sickened. I'm done with Cynthia's Hallmark. Staff not allowed to give credit for discounts offered unless you have the discount card with you even when the card has you personal ID number connected to it. I had to go home get the card and bring it back, return my purchase and then re-buy it to get the discount. What a pain in the b---. When I asked for the gold seal stickers that you get with your cards I was told that the owner doesn't want to supply them. Isn't that one of the Hallmark signature items that we have come to value as a loyal shopper.... Looks like it time to look for alternative card shops. read more
