I forgot to write this review...until now. One stop to get Wifey an anniversary gift. The traditional list tells me to get tin, and the modern suggestion says an aluminum gift. Ok, I'm looking for something metallic. I needed something other than the usual picture frame or keychain. There are a couple of store associates, and the friendly gal helps me narrow down some items. She made sure to verify the engraving: layout, font, message, spelling, etc. She gave me an approximate time for me to return when the engraving would be ready. The engraving was not ready as promised so I had to come back another day. Disappointing, but not devastating since I had time before anniversary day. All in all it was ok, except for the one hiccup. My grandfathers mother's son recently passed and I needed to find a way to encapsulate all that he was. Ronnie took his ashes and molded it into what seemed to be the finest diamonds made from the hottest lava. His spirit will long live on through the workings of this master crafter. I don't get frustrated a lot but this place did it. Placed my items to get worked on and they promised me they will be done same day and they will call me. I never got a call and when I called the next day they didn't pick up. I stoped by the next day and they said they will be done in 30 minutes when I got back after 30 minutes they had take lunch. I don't like to blame the employees there, but I blame the management for only hiring one person during holidays. I love "Things Remembered" but this location is the worst!!! read more

I came here after going to the Mission Valley location. I called in my order from the Things Remembered in Mission Valley because they said they couldn't have my item finished the same day (which I don't know why because it was dead). Melissa at the El Cajon location was so sweet over the phone and took care of everything for me. By the time I had gotten to the El Cajon location, it was already completed and ready to go. I used to really like the store, but the last orders have been pathetic. I specifically ordered three different gifts and all of them to be engraved. One came out fine, one heart jewelry box they had to keep re-doing the engrave because they were scratching it. Then after we took the last one, give it as a gift, the whole thing was detached in which we found out while giving the gift. When getting it fixed, we left with it even worse than when we came back in. The frame that we ordered, that was supposed to be delivered engraved, came completely blank even though I had paid for it. What a mess read more

Any time I want to get something special for a friend, I like to come here. They usually have pretty good deals on their jewelry and they typically come with a pretty box. I always get a small inscription which doesn't cost much. The ladies are always very friendly and helpful. Can be a little tricky to find this location since its in a mall, but not too hard. read more

I'm giving two stars because the previous experiences I've had here were good. I purchased an item here yesterday and was told it would be ready in one hour. Specifically 5:45pm. I went to pick it up around 7:30pm and it was not ready. The only thing the girl said was "sorry" and asked me to come back for it later. She had offered to have it ready in another hour, but I had already made plans to work around the time initially and had not eaten yet. They close at 9pm so I could not make it back by then and let her know that. My only other option was to pick it up at 11am the next day, thus having to reschedule all of my other appointments around that as well. I am usually very busy, so time is a huge factor in my life and is very important to me. I thought I would give them another chance to rectify the problem by mentioning how unhappy I was with it not being ready yesterday. (That would have stopped me from writing a bad review). Unfortunately, the girl just acted like I did not say anything important. Very disappointed in the service! read more

Wrote the wrong time to pick up my wine glass. Extremely annoying. It was off by 5 hours. I wasn't able to pick it up that late and they didn't care. When I went in to pick it up they offered me 10% off only with my receipt. I had thrown it away thinking I would just be able to pick up my wine glass at the correct time. They didn't care and wouldn't give me the complimentary discount. They're rude. Be aware that they also charge $10 per word and then $3 for every additional letter. Things add up very quickly. And just to let you know if you write I love you, they count l as one word and then charge $3 after that. It's not cheap. Defiantly won't be coming back. read more

This is the second time I have purchased items at this location and wasn't impressed. This last time put the icing on the cake and I will not be returning. Not only was the engraving on the glass crooked, it just looked horrible. They are rushing you at the counter to pick a font and it completely looked like crap as a monogram. Yes, they did offer to redo it, but if they hadn't, I wanted my money back. I even had the engraving filled in with gold so it would pop. Not only was it distributed unevenly, it was all over the glasses and decanter. Anyone with good vision could see this, how she didn't is a complete mystery. Poor attention to detail. I had to spend my time, scraping the gold off the glass before I could gift this item that wasn't cheap. They don't even deserve 1 star...smh read more

The girls who helped me were tops. The store is ok. There is no sign of Christmas anywhere. It makes the store look and feel dead. Had a lot more to buy but will go else where. read more
