Honestly one of my favorite things about the dollar tree is how clutch it is for party supplies, like if you've ever had to throw something together last minute or just don't feel like spending a ton, this is the spot. They've got everything balloons, gift bags, wrapping paper, decorations, candles, paper plates, cups, utensils all in one place and super cheap. You can literally put together a whole birthday setup for like 25-30 bucks and it still looks good, which is kinda crazy compared to what you'd spend anywhere else. I come in thinking I'm just grabbing cleaning supplies or dog stuff because yeah they have all that to , and somehow I always end up checking out the party section because it's just too good. If you've got kids or you're hosting anything at all, this place saves you big time without sacrificing the vibe. I only recently started giving feedback on Yelp. I noticed only 3.5 stars and thought otherwise so here I am. IMO some people are probably hating on them because of the price increases to $1.25 then $1.50. And the $3 and $5 items. I understand business realities though and think that rating is too low for stores doing the best that they can. This Dollar Tree store is one of the locations I go to when I'm up for driving farther and I don't go frequently. The store is always clean and well stocked. No inventory blocking aisles that I've seen. I went there today. Or maybe yesterday now since I'm editing my original review. I was greeted when I came in the front door. The shelves were stocked well, as always. There was even a rack of bread products. There were TWO checkout lanes open. A rarety at small business locations these days. The woman who rang up my purchases was friendly. That's rare these days too. Yvonne was the name on my receipt. And while I know there is security in the strip mall, I didn't see them. Contrast that to my experiences at the other El Cajon location I reviewed recently. Ugh. So good job to the management and employees here. Dollar Tree is another store chain that I'm sure struggles to find inventory that is appealing and they can buy cheap enough to make still make their profit on. Did a return here for a coaster I bought at another DT location. This seems in line with the other DT store I initially bought the coaster at. No issues returning the item; however, they only do exchanges so no refunds. I found the same coaster at this store and swapped them out. The associates were helpful. read more

No start if I could. They had one cashier guy working while the manger and 2 other lady's are in the office. The cashier guy called for manager to check an ID and all 3 lady's come out they see the line and don't open another register. But when a homeless lady said she was in a hurry the manager only rings her up and has us wait in line. The homeless lady proceeded back in the store to shop more. Never coming back to this place. " This Dollar Tree Is Very Good " I drive an extra 3.5 miles to go to this Dollar Tree on Fletcher Parkway. The Dollar Tree on 2nd street in El Cajon is closer for me but is terrible compared to this Dollar Tree on Fletcher Parkway. Their Greeting Card department is Awesome, and the store is always nicely organized, compared to the 2nd street Dollar Tree location, which is a mess. We all LOVE dollar trees and 99 cent stores. But dollar Tree I prefer a little more, so when I go to this location here. The line is always wrapped around the store, I know they try they best. But its consist, all the time. Today I went in and seen 2 cashiers coming in, then when I get to front of course the line is long. I'm being patient as I always am. But I was talking to a older lady in line and we were talking about how this location always seemed short staffed and we seen 4 employees not one came to to help. But seemed like someone heard out convo and open up a line. Because it doesn't make any sense , when you see 5 employess and only one at a cash register. read more

Customer service is outstanding! The poor cashiers have to work alone with an overwhelming customer count. A lot of their customers are pigs and enjoy snooting through the store like pigs in a pigpen, which makes it an unpleasant experience for those who actually clean up after themselve, keep their children in check and/or pay someone else to do so. The store, and every piece of equipment in it, is ancient, dirty and beyond repair. The building is filthy and, due to a lot of the clientel, it is in quite a bit of disarra. However, thanks to the very few employees who are still there, the place still offers the best selection in town and is a pleasant place to do business with if you have the time. Expect a long line and only one cashier. Those cashiers can really move you through though as long as you let them do their job and keep your impatient thoughts to yourself. It is obviously a very thankless and high profile for abuse job, yet they still find it somewhere inside themselves to care about their customers and try to make it as pleasant as possible. It would do you well to remember that it is NOT a convenient store and that you never pay more than a dollar per item. It is my opinion that this company really needs to reevaluate it's business model, but as for this location, it does as well as it can possibly be expected to do with what it has been given to work with. If you're a crafter that watches a lot of diy videos on YouTube and are always wondering wth, my dollar tree doesn't have all this stuff, then this dollar tree is for you! I've been to a few dollar trees around San Diego looking for specific things to use for crafting but have had no luck. This dollar tree is a lot bigger than most and has lots of inventory. I needed a couple of birthday cards. The El Cajon Dollar Tree is near my work so in I went. Greeting cards are two for buck! This store is much like the Santee store, but a little larger and lacks the dirty green carpet. Pretty much the same merchandise presented in the same fashion. I love Dollar Tree. Went in for two b-day cards, grabbed some toiletries and a couple of other items. Less than 10 minutes, a full bag of goods $7.48. How can you not like that? read more

Why does it smell like forty-four gallons of bleach were spilled just prior to me walking into this place? Unless someone was murdered in an impromptu moment of passion, then tried to desperately clean it up, there is no excuse for me to be grabbing my nose in agony. I felt like the Invisible Man was using a washcloth soaked with chloroform to knock me out. The items in the store are pretty inconsequential to anyone's life, unless you really want a Jeff Gordon coloring book or a wicker basket with a dolphin on it. The food here looks pretty old and unreliable. I would imagine the Charleston Chews are from the first batch ever created in the early 1920s. I suppose if I was in a jam I could pick up some napkins or toiletries here, but I cannot get behind purchasing food at a Dollar Tree. I can only imagine, whether the items are name brand or not, that they have copious amounts of lead in them. Want green beans? I don't know, let me check the asbestos content on the manufacturer's recall paperwork. I did like the Theodore Roosevelt looking gentleman who was wearing an undersized Chicago Bears t-shirt. But they weren't selling him, so I cant add a star to my review. Go for paper plates and party supplies, but stay away from the movie props dressed up as food. read more

Superb deals!!! This location is cleaner than other locations that I have visited. The parking here is excellent. The customer service is average. At times lines are remarkably long and there only 1 cashier. They are very unstaffed. Don't ever pay full price for birthday, thank you, graduation cards again. I usually only go into dollar stores for quick stuff that I know they'll have. I don't go in here for quality items. If you are looking for gift cards (2 for $1), party supplies, or simple pens and stuff, this is the place. People here are really friendly. That's including the staff and the shoppers. Nothing like Walmart... i hate it there. I much rather shop here if I could for whatever I would find at walmart. It's a fairly small store but it does hit the main stuff. It has kitchenware, and trash bags/ziploc bags, some frozen food in the back, tons of party supplies like gift bags and ribbons and wrapping paper. Happened go be in the area and was looking for something I need to finish my Halloween costume. This store was pretty big and had alot of good things but it always happens when you are looking for something you don't find it. The store was a bit unorganized but it was a busy Sunday. I did see an employee walking around cleaning. It might look more tidy during the week. This is the first Dollar Tree I ever went to and it's probably still my favorite. I was just in here a couple of days ago and while they didn't have what I went in for (correction, they had some but not in any colors I liked) I did find other things to buy. You just can't beat the price and save a lot of time by not having to do "price comparisons" since everything is the same price! They have greeting cards, party supplies, stationary products, food items, kitchen items, toys, and lots of knick knacks. Today I went to get my grandpa a card for his birthday. When I walked in the place looked very small. It's smaller than a Panera bread. I went in one I'll and I found this mess with stuff on the ground. I think it was some spoil brats that were there early. Why can kids ever learn to understand that stores are not playgrounds. THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD IN 35+ YEARS!! If you like to get harassed and threatened with bodily harm by ghetto thug employees named "Ivory," FOR READING A BOOK then this is the place for you! On January 16th 2013 I was repeatedly harassed and threatened with bodily harm by an employee named "Ivory" at the of Dollar Tree Fletcher Village - Store #3207 in El Cajon, CA! I was innocently shopping and sifting through books at the front of the store along with another customer. Ivory told me there was more down the aisle. I said okay and went back there to look. After a while of browsing a couple of customers had knocked some items off the rack near me. He came back to tell me to "You need to buy something or leave" in a very stern and serious voice. I said I didn't knock anything down, it was them, but okay...I plan on it. He embarrassed me and disturbed a bunch of other shoppers to look at him like he's crazy. Less than 5 min. later he came back and said "are you going to buy something or what?" I said look dude, I'm trying to decide on which books to buy, do you mind? I asked rhetorically, "Do I look like a thief? (I was dressed very well compared to their average customers). Please leave me alone. I chose 3 books and moved to the shampoo isle picking up several more items, less than 5 min. passed and he came over telling me with a enraged crazy look in his eyes, "you need to leave!" I said I'm shopping, lighten up and please quit harassing me! How long have you worked here anyway? He said "over a year." I said I seriously doubt that as I'm a regular customer and have never seen you before? He immediately got right in front of my face with the most evil crazy eyed look on his face, telling me "do you want to take this outside?!" "We can settle this outside if you want, bud." I asked "Are you threatening me with violence because I'm a slow shopper?" This is so ridiculous!?.. He didn't answer, just kept glaring at me. I said you just threatened me, you seriously want me to fight you when I'm trying to buy stuff? I said I'm going to report you to your boss. He said he was going to call the police. I said, for what, slow shopping?! I said, No I will call the police if you keep this up. He went back to the register and kept glaring at me like some crazy pitbull as I walked around. Finally I decided the last thing I was going to do was buy from this ghetto store after being harassed by a thug employee. So I left my items and and left the store. Later I emailed the corporate website my complaint and got a quick phone call from the District Manager Juan Zapata at (760) 622-7430. He said they're taking this very seriously but refused to tell me what they said to him or were going to do about it other than review the video tape. I said if this kind of thuggish behavior doesn't get somebody fired from Dollar Tree, what will?!! I warned him I will get a restraining order against him so next time I go there he won't be able to work and sue the store if he attacks me. This should be a no-brainer for corporate, but maybe this knucklehead Juan is scared of the albino and needs replacing too? Any company that condones this kind of behavior needs to boycotted! I stopped shopping there and so should you. SHOP AT THE 99CENT STORE INSTEAD. Juan never called me back and didn't answer my calls. As far as I know the douche Ivory still works there. I will be reporting Juan Zapata to his boss as well. Next time I go there I will be recording everything on camera! You can find all your usual DT items here, it's just a little more unorganized than other DTs in the area. I almost always find packages ripped open and spilled into shelf containers throughout the store. I did get food poisoning from a package of generic soft baked cookies, so I stopped buying snacks here that aren't popular name brand. This could be the coolest dollar store I've ever experienced. It reminded me of how great Pic N Save used to be when I was a kid. They had Yardley soap (pure quality), Disney products, beautiful gift bags, just all around great stuff.
