We stopped by this Dollar Tree on Town Center iDrive in Santee for a couple of greeting cards and a few other items. The cupboards were bare. The place was wiped out. Every aisle had multiple empty shelves. the freezer case, home goods, food, cleaning supplies all empty. We found suitable greeting cards, but nothing else. At checkout, I asked the woman who was working if they were closing this location. She said that they were not. In fact, she informed us that they are opening a third Santee location on the south side of Mission Gorge where the now closed 99 Cent Only store location was next to Bev Mo. She offered no explanation as to why the shelves bare. read more

I can't walk out of a Dollar Tree without buying something. I went in last night looking for a specific item I had found in a Dollar Tree in AZ but couldn't find more of in La Mesa. They didn't have it either but I found a two-pack of plastic cutting sheets, a box of Betty Crocker Turtle Supreme Brownie Mix, and a bag of egg noodles I needed for a recipe. Three bucks for all. I came here with my daughter and this location has plenty of stuff from balloons to household items. I looked around and nothing to my liking. My daughter found a few things for herself. She absolutely loves this store because they have kid's toys, snacks and drinks. I like how everything in here is a dollar. At checkout, it's more like a dollar plus tax. Still a good deal. Location is right next to Ross in a small shopping center and there's plenty of parking right in front. There was only one person at the cashier ringing up people. The dollar tree always has some good, simple holiday decorations so for this trip, I had come to look at their St. Patrick's Day items. I knew the store had them because I had seen some at a different store and they are all the same however I was disappointed to see they had already switched over to Easter decorations. Kind of sucked since it was the first weekend of March and Easter is at the end of April this year. Otherwise, it is a typical dollar tree. You can get a bit of everything here, some random brands, some name brands. The quality isn't the best but you are paying $1.00. Cut your losses and get over it. Just like every other Dollar Tree in the country, there is never enough staff so give yourself extra time to get through the check out. read more

I suggest you go to the .99 store in Santee, near Firestone. They will allow you to return an item if it doesn't work out. The clerks are nice. I went to this store and had a similar experience as some other people. I got a 12 pack of pens and the clicker to open and shut the pen did not work. I did not want to get ink on my new car or new purse-that stuff doesn't come out. So these items are defective and I still couldn't return it. I did not want to exchange it for the same cheap defective pens. So I left the pens there and ask for the receipt that she moved away from me. When I asked for the receipt, she said you can have it all. Very rude. Not an apology but more like get out of here. I was not rude at all. She could've said Let me check another group of them out for you to see if it's just this pack or why not try another type. read more

The Dollar Tree is pretty nice. You can pick up all sorts of shit there for a George Washington. My current obsession is making origami flowers so I decided to come here to look for vases. They have a decent selection as well as colored beads to fill the vase....all for a buck. If you need greeting cards, birthday bags etc, this is the place to go. They sell birthday bags for like $5 bucks everywhere else, but you can get a wide variety here for only a dollar. My purchases yesterday included 2 vases, 2 things of beads, some sponges and some AA batteries. Total was 6 bucks...cant beat it. read more

I don't write reviews often, but I need to for this store. The two women working there around 5:00 today were amazing. I brought my service dog into the store, and as I was standing in line, the woman behind me started complaining and arguing with me. I tried to explain to her that he is my service dog, but she continued to raise her voice and call me names. The cashiers were very supportive, and even walked out with me because the crazy lady was waiting for me outside. Worst experience ever! I purchased several items to build gift baskets for an opportunity drawing for a charity. I spent close to $100. Before checking out i asked about the return policy and I was told by the cashier " as long as it is unused and you have a receipt, we will take it back" my husband witnessed this conversation, which took place before I paid. Flash forward 5 days I went to return the items that I could not use about $10 worth and the VERY unconcerned cashier told me they dont take returns or store credits, you must pick other items. This Dollar Tree is by far not the best one in the county. They do have a good selection but its a mess in there and needs a good cleaning. Customer service is much more unprofessional than other locations. And who says just because its a discount store that you can't have friendly service. It costs nothing to smile. I went to the Dollar Tree in Santee for the first time a few months ago. As soon as I walked in the door a very nice lady called out, "Welcome to Dollar Tree!" The shelves were well-stocked and had lots of seasonal items on them. I was surprised at how many items they have! I was able to pick up some great party supplies for him and for work. The cashier was the same lady who greeted me when I came in and she is super nice. There are a couple of other ladies who work there that are very friendly as well. The store is clean and neat. I love a great bargain and this is definitely a place to find it, especially on party supplies and gift items such as paper plates, napkins, gift bags, ribbon, wrapping and tissue paper. Horrible Horrible customer service from tracy this lady had the worst attitude and snarky remarks. She was helping the older gentleman in a wheelchair and the poor guy couldn't get past cuz there was cart everywhere and it's only 11:00 so they've only been open for an hour so he asked her to move it and she was smirky about it and did it and then seeing someone was watching myself so then she asked him if he wanted the door open with she did at this point I've already been waiting for a few minutes because she wanted to have comments rather than just help him then she walked away from the register area so the back of the store to go grab something as I'm waiting for her and three others behind me then she comes up and start sweeping and I told her you know I'm a customer in line waiting and she said well when I'm done I will help you very rudely after she swept the floor went and threw the trash away then decided to come to the register then she had a bad attitude with me because I told her that you know your customer should come first had she probably cleaned and did everything she was supposed to do before her shift started or in the beginning then she wouldn't be having to do everything while she's helping people actually she's not even helping people she's doing what she has to do I tried calling corporate but there is no answer so I went ahead and left a Yelp so other customers know how rude these people are at this location read more

I always feel very cramped at this particular location, it seems small and uninviting. The cashiers usually are very somber and quiet. I'm the type of lady that likes to be greeted with at least a smile when I'm making my purchase. Also, they don't have a very large supply of things.
