I was looking in Grossmont Target for Hershey's milk chocolate Kisses the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Not my most sensibly timed errand, to go looking for chocolate the day before everyone goes to Easter Egg Hunt parties where everyone who is sensible has, several days ago, already bought up all the chocolate in Target. Fortunately for me I found a Target employee called Freddy who searched the usual shelves for Hershey's Kisses with out any luck. I actually Love this Target, 2 floors. It's my favorite Target in San Diego. It's in a nice shopping center, plenty of parking. If you can't find parking in the front part of the lot they have a double parking garage on the back side. The parking area overall is pretty well maintained and I'm always able to find a cart. The staff here are overall great. In the four years I've come to this Target I haven't had a bad experience. Even the staff in the Starbucks inside the store have good customer service skills. Also the store is clean. The bathroom continues to need some work but it's gotten better. What really needs fixing is the escalator haha. It's pretty easy to find stuff here. I bought into the whole Target 360 plan. Paying $99 for a year of "free" Shipt deliveries. Which aren't really free because they still charge you a $5 service charge. I have consistently been getting expired groceries for the past 6+ months. I got an order delivered on June 18th. It contained this Naked Juice which expired on May 17, 2025. How can this keep happening?!? I fully blame the people working in the grocery department. Are they not stocking from the back? This is insane. Target gives a refund when I get expired product but how does that help me when I plan on using the things I order. This has to be fixed. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING WITH A SECURITY DEVICE. I purchased an $18 Xbox controller battery which was wrapped in a security device. After I purchased my item I was told I needed to go to "guest services" to remove the security device. Why should I have to wait an ADDITIONAL 20 MINUTES in line when it should have been removed once I paid for it the cash register? How many hundreds of hours cumulatively have you wasted of your customers time, making them wait 5-20 minutes extra to remove a security device? I never would have purchased it if I would have know I had to wait in the return line to remove the security device. I understand you need to reduce theft, but wasting hundreds of hours of customers time is doing more damage to the revenue of this specific store. I will never buy another electronic with a security device from this store ever again. read more

It is impossible to contact this store by phone! I left a product in my cart while loading into the car. I phoned to see if a good Samaritan turned it in by chance. I have called 5 X and it just rings and then hangs up.... nobody to put on hold and wait or the opportunity to leave a message. No email for customer service. I needed to buy some charging cables and other items for my cell phone this morning. I don't know a lot about electronics or exactly what to buy, so it is always with a bit of trepidation that I enter a busy store and hope to find an associate who can help me. However, in the past, I have had good luck at this particular Target store at Grossmont Center, in La Mesa. That fortuitousness proved the same today. As I approached the electronics department at 10:00 am this Saturday morning, I saw a worker in the department not engaged with other customers. I went right up to him and he helped me with utter patience and kindness, His name was Harrison. Harrison sat with me at a little table in the center of the department and brought over every kind of cable and plug I might need. He even had samples in a drawer for me to try to be absolutely certain I was buying the correct product for my needs. After making my selections based on his expertise assistance, Harrison packed up my items [at Target, you can pay for your items directly in the electronics department without proceeding to the main check out registers]. As he handed me my purchase, he said with a smile that if I had any issues at all once I arrived home, to come back and see him and he would walk me through the entire process, step by step. Big Target store with 2 levels or is it 3? Anyways it has more to choose than most locations, other than Mission Valley which is also 2 levels. The parking garage is large and has an entrance to the store at both levels. Tons of parking that should never be a problem to find, including the huge lot out front on the street level. I like the selection here overall because of its size, and I've really never had to wait long in line. It does get busy here, but there seems to be more employees overall. This is important for a discount type store for me, not having to go at odd times to avoid crowds and lines at registers. A big box store with competitive prices. Hard to beat some of the values here, and let's face it, you just can't get everything on Amazon can you? I do have one closer to home, and it suits me well. Though every time I stop in, I wonder why I don't just drive a little farther to this location to have so many more choices. And I feel Target is a little classier than any Walmart, but you probably already realize this.. read more

Target #997 La Mesa. Instead of cleaning up the store when. not busy, this employee just hit on the other cashier next to her telling her how pretty she was. Totally unprofessional and a machine will replace her in the future. No idea where management is hiding to allow this. Half the employees are still in masks, too embarrassed to be seen working at Target. This company will cease to exist in the future. Came to target for one thing and one things only. PUMPKIN FOOD! I know it's not September even YET but I was able to find pumpkin cinnamon rolls, pumpkin Mochi, pumpkin creamer, cold brew, and ICE CREAM! The main product I was looking for was the ice cream, but I could not leave without getting all the other goodies! Apparently if your kid bounces a ball in the store they will kick them out , and they've kicked kids out before , as I was told by the rudest girl at returns/ pick up area . Update: adding a star because the customer service support reached out and said they would address this issue with the employee. Their registers downstairs are such a cluster. The self checkout will be shut down when there is a line at the manned registers. Then there's no line and the self checkout is open. There were 4 of us in line while self checkout is closed. A man named Jessie was standing at his register with his light off. He hears us all in line wondering what's going on and he doesn't say a word. Someone from the Back of the line asks him if he is open. He answers with a very Snarky "I have been open this whole time." He acted like we are the idiots for trying to form a line. He could clearly hear us in line talking about what's going on with the line. A lady from the very back of the line cuts everyone and goes to his register. He says nothing then. I went into his line and he would t even make eye contact. Terrible customer service. I only come her because my daughter likes Target. If it was up to me I would never come back. If you are not going to have customer service and train your associates customers 1st! Especially Redcard members that have been loyal customers for years then make your app user friendly. Logically why would someone purchase a list of items and the platform knowing items are going to be ordered at two different locations to not have a pop up saying "you have items at two different locations" or "are you sure you want to purchase items at different locations?". Many are not tech savvy & Amazon.com always accommodates customer's. My daughter initially picked up an order drive up, noticed one of her items were missing so took the time to get out of her vehicle, go to line and speaks with customer service. They told her what could have happened and suggested her to pick up at the other location or cancel and purchase there but won't give the 5% Redcard knowing it was used in the purchase receipt. It could've been an easy fix for the customer and a supervisor can accommodate. Her name was Nicole in exchange and returns 3/4/24 @ 8:25pm. She didn't even try to talk to the manager. Didn't do anything to resolve customer satisfaction. Who ever designed the platform needs a second opinion. User friendly. Btw. Target is making you created two different accounts and logins for target.com and target.com/redcard. Instead of doing like Amazon and having a one stop shop even with 3rd party and login in the same platform and selecting if we want grub hub or prime video in one app and login. Target is one of my favorites! This specific store usually has a great selection with lots of good items and it rarely gets too busy. One thing I have noticed about this particular store and I feel is worth sharing is that they seem to be on their own clearance and sale schedule. When I see Instagram accounts posting about big clearances and sales, I'll usually hit a few stores in town to see what I can find. I've noticed while checking out that this store never has as cheap prices as the accounts I follow or what I see in other stores in San Diego. I've asked associates about it but they say each store is on their own discount schedule (totally understandable!) but I've noticed multiple times that this store seems to always be behind other stores on discounting items. I wish management would consider either matching prices at other stores or prioritize mark downs earlier! read more

Another Target that you should have check it out everyday if you could, come in the early morning or late evening, you will more than likely to be on the winning side of finding your toy items, maybe even good clearance that none of other Target would be up to date, I got it every time. For examples right now the Netflix MOTU Battle Cat is on sales from 40 some dollars down to $23 excluded tax, but I never seen that scanned at any other Target except for this one, meanwhile the Walmart next door still have the same item for the full retail price of $40 plus tax, smh On the contrary their self check out was kinda lackluster, no fountain drink machine, only the frosty icee's machine available, although no sign of "no refill" or "no food or drink consumption during shopping", they had super empty shelves, nothing on the hot food except to go nachos, wow, minus one star for me read more

I came here with my wife to check the parking lot at sunset. The third floor was close. We went up walking, beautiful sunset and the view on the valley and the city. After that we went inside target and we discovered you have 500 yards of stores all around on that hill, they even have a Panera bread next to it at the movie theater, etc. It was late so I did not get the check all of the stores. We went inside the Stargate. It was two stories. Very helpful employees and clean inside and very classy. They do have covered parking so your car will stay cool and waiting for you. It's one of my favorite target store so far in California. read more

Target!! You take all my money but idc! I had to stop going to the target closest to my home (college ave target location) bec there was aggressive solicitation going on out front. As a petite female I felt uncomfortable patronizing. Amongst other things see review on my page. Anyways. This target is very nice and easy to get to. It's inside grossmont mall at the far entrance. Easy in and out. Small ULTA shoppe inside with helpful ulta employees. Has hand carts. Self checkout is clean, helpful employees, and it's a all around good experience. But I will add that it's a Saturday, approximately at 5pm to checkout and there was one cashier available, when a second cashier that was on her way to clock out- came back to reopen her line- TO HELP OUT. The lines were completely out of control. Who is responsible for managing this place? It's horrible. Same situation 2 days prior. I know it's post holiday, and hours are cutback. In the words of our president "come on, man".... re allocate and make better use of your payroll budget. We're in the middle of a pandemic and your restroom looks like this. Way to go Grossmont Target! I've been to a few different locations trying to find patio chair cushions to fit my oddly shaped chairs. Went here on a Sunday afternoon, there was a long line outside but it moved quickly. They had markers on the ground to ensure social distancing. They had a security guard and target employee out front directing customers. This is the first target a saw with a sign outside with in stock and out of stock highly sought items. I found that very helpful to reduce my time inside looking for items. I really liked that they directed us in every 5 minutes in small groups one by one. The Starbucks inside was open but you must get it on the way out of the store. They have clean carts and baskets clearly marked. All employees wearing masks. I really liked the way this location ran their store, I felt safe and it was very organized. I went to customer service to pick up my order and they brought it out quickly. It was way too big I didn't check sizing online. They were so quick and nice! She asked if it was too big and I said yes. She said no problem we can cancel your order. She did it right then and there on her scanner! It was so easy and fast! Went around to get a few other items. They had sanitizer in stock, face masks and bandannas. No cleaning supplies. Pretty gross, literally the grossest restrooms. They seem to have zero upkeep, I mean the whole bathrooms are just disturbing. Even the family one, the changing table is riddled with filth. Everything is locked up. They closed self check out and NEVER allocate enough cashiers for the downstairs registers, so the line is always like 8-9 people. Best target around! There is about 5-6 Targets around a 10-mile radius and I can find more at this location. Lines move fast, great selections in all areas. They are always opening up registers when lines get too long So what if you have to drive a couple miles further. It's worth it! read more

The customer service while I was shopping today was terrible. I was shopping for a backpack in an aisle where employees go in and out of their backroom. I wanted to look closer at the backpacks, so I requested assistance using the call feature. No employees came to assist me and as I was standing there multiple, (probably 7 or 8),employees came out of the backroom. I was completely ignored, no eye contact, nothing. I have shopped there before, and the customer service at check out has been fine however I've never needed assistance on the floor. I bought nothing. I will never go back to this location and possibly not shop at Target at all. read more

This Target store is very close to my house but I find that I must go to either the Lemon Grove, Santee or El Cajon store to find what the Grossmont store is always missing. This morning I called them 7 times. Only once did someone pick up and she transferred me to another line that no one answered after 15 minutes of ringing. I am a big film buff and buy a great many blu-ray's and 4K movies but this store almost always has nothing but old kid movies on their rack and rarely is a new release there. I guarante you that if you went 7 days in a row, you would see no change in their offerings. I even asked one of there so-called reps about a film and they sent me down to the El Cajon store saying they had 4 copies. So I drove all the way down there only to find that they had nothing. I don't know who the manager is but they clearly are not doing their job at the expense of those who want to purchase something. Since they continually refuse to answer the phones there, I will have to get in the car and drive there probably only to find that they do not have what I want. I am 73 and disabled so this is really not an easy or fun thing for me to have to dol read more

If you close at 10pm are guests allowed to shop until 10pm without being harassed? I was done with my shopping and on my way to the front door to pay at 10pm and had already had three employees making sure to tell me that I need to leave now because they are closed, and they had been telling me that for the last few minutes over and over again, and one of them started following me to the front. I came in to buy one thing right before closing time... I get it, the staff wants to go home. Or maybe it's company policy to have all guests out by 10pm... so maybe close at 9:45 so people can leave by 10? I've never seen a business fight so hard to lose a guest. read more

I always have such a positive experience in here. I wish I had gotten the name of the retail assistant that helped me. He had medium long brown hair in the front kind of wavy, with a shock of almost White in his hair, and glasses. A young, very nice man. The music wasn't too loud although I could hear the bass, my car works just fine, the item that I was looking for was right where he told me it was, and I even got some other items that I needed. If you are expecting any service from Target avoid the Grossmont Center location. There is an entire floor that is dedicated to costumers checking themselves out, usually with a crazy line while 4 check out stands remain empty and a Target employee leans against the empty check out stand on their phone. When you ask them a question while you are doing their job and checking out they are the least helpful and most useless people. The nasty attitude of the actual checkers is no better. It is a shame Target no longer cares about QUALITY customer service. This is why we use Amazon. Get what you need without the attitude of employees. read more
