While waiting properly behind the designated line sign to purchase an item, an aggressive male customer began crowding and verbally harassing me to move up past the boundary. When I directly asked the cashier on duty to enforce the store's line policy, she explicitly agreed with me that customers are supposed to wait behind the sign, but then followed it up with, "Yes, but it's okay." It is absolutely not "okay" for a boutique toy store in San Diego to permit a grown man to harass a woman shopping alone. By refusing to enforce basic civility and line boundaries, your staff actively validated hostile behavior over a sensory toy. When I contacted corporate regarding this incident, I received a completely generic, automated brush-off stating they hope I "visit again soon," completely ignoring the safety breakdown that occurred under their watch. Allowing this type of unchecked aggression to slide in a toy store where families and children shop is incredibly dangerous. This total lack of accountability and failure to expect basic respect from adults is exactly what escalates into full-on physical brawls over merchandise. I now actively dread going to this location because management refuses to hold disruptive adults accountable. I am putting this on the public record now, and when a major escalation inevitably happens here because staff refuses to maintain basic order in the NeeDoh line, I will be back to update this review. Shop elsewhere if you value a safe, respectful environment.

While times if have changed from this place actually being $5 and below for items, then moving to $5.55 and now offering items up to $25. Somethings are not a great deal anymore. While somethings can be found under $5, it seems like the mass majority of items are $5 or $7. There is a lot to see and look through from toys, to games, to candy to clothing and bath essentials. The store is for the most part stock with the exception of holiday or seasonal items, then its pretty much first come first served. They do have steal deals for clearance items in the past... like 50% off items. Again those items are first come, even if ordered online for store pickup. Which they have and I've used in the past before. Saves time, especially if its in-stock items. This store kind of reminds me of a higher end Dollar Tree. Because 5 Below does carry more name brands than Dollar Tree. What's new is that some of the cosmetics line offer a sample trial before you buy (see pictures) super tiny but awesome!

However, I didn't see any to my liking for me to buy one. They have lots of different selections. They also have themed plushies. They had a few baskets that contained plushies on sale... buy 1 get 1 50% off. The prices were a tad higher IMHO. If I saw a really cute one or two, I probably would have still bought them, but none resonated with me unfortunately. The lady working here was very friendly and helpful. I asked her if they had any frogs. She showed me a few. There was one that looked okay, but it didn't match the frog that my eldest daughter currently has. Additional to the free event activity, they also have multiple other activities going at the same time in case your kids don't want to do the specific featured event (such as a scavenger hunt to get a prize - a scented sheet stickers, coloring, or other hands on activities to theme). There are also so many toys the kids can play with around the store, my kids usually need some coercing to leave. Hah. Again, a great place to buy learning toys, books, arts & crafts items or just hang out and keep the kids busy.
