Got to check out the new La Jolla Village Square location this weekend which is a really nice addition to the area. Right next to World Market and the AMC theatre, it's a pretty sizeable location with various sections decorated to the different genres, entertainment, board games and toys and more. There is only one entrance and the layout is straight forward, but there was a lot to look at. Staff were friendly, and the prices are standard as other locations. Thank you for bringing another bookstore to the area.

I was also informed of sloped floors and uneven areas since I am a cane user which I GREATLY appreciated. This store is stacked with literature and poetry, I'd say that's definitely their forte here. Their lit section for new releases is huge and they had so many different editions for so many popular literature books. They also had a lot of lit and non fiction used options. Everything is great pricing. Basically either list or discounted for used items. The store is cozy and small with memories, photos, and clippings everywhere on the walls. It you are a wheelchair user it is not accessible for you, but if you use a mobility aid like a cane or crutch you can manage. There are very small tight sections. Next time I'm in the market for a classic book, this will be my go to.

I personally love to take pictures, especially on vacation. As do many others. When we came in, they literally have a gate to enter the book part (talk about gatekeeping in real life lol). They give you a set of rules before you enter and there are signs that you can't take pictures. Only once you listen to those rules can you enter... I overheard the men working here complaining about young people taking pictures in front of their book cases outside while a young girl was doing just that. Basically making fun of anyone who does that. I said "you all have a beautiful place, it's so photo worthy." They just said ya, but if you're not looking for books then don't come in here and start taking pictures. lol - can you not do both....? They didn't have the book I was looking for, I was going to buy a journal but ended up not wanting to after hearing all that negativity. 2 stars simply because the space is pretty. Enjoy the pics:)

While the bookstore itself has a decent & varied selection of new books, and they'll order any book for you that they don't have, it is not the most pleasant place to shop. As a bibliophile and an English teacher, I really want to like and support Warwick's, but unfortunately, they've treated me poorly on multiple occasions which makes it challenging for me to give them more chances. There are many book sellers & employees, but they are not very helpful and they treat you like an inconvenience or worse. The right side of the store is book-centric while the left side of the store is mostly stationery & cards, writing utensils, gift items, and tchotchkes. Today, I purchased a book and a pen refill with a credit that I had at the store. I requested the pen refill from one counter, and I had to go to the book counter to pay for my book. Instead of giving me the refill so I could bring it over to the book counter and pay for both items with my credit, the employee brought the refill over herself and told a 2nd employee while pointing at me that, "that woman over there is also getting this pen refill along with her book." Then the 2nd employee handed the refill to a 3rd employee who stashed it behind the counter while I waited for my turn to pay. Keep in mind that the pen refill was a mere $6 item but they treated it like a precious gem that would surely compel me, if I held it in my own hands, to run out of the store with it without paying for it. Meanwhile, I'm holding the much pricier book that I'm going to purchase in my hands, but I rapidly felt like turning on my heels and vacating the store, and leaving the book behind, of course, because that moment was just so strange and uncomfortable. Over the past ten years, I have regularly patronized this store and I've purchased items here multiple times per year. However, there is no recognition, no friendliness, nothing to indicate that I'm more than just a tourist popping in on vacation. At the very least, a friendly greeting would do, but no such luck. Every time I cross the threshold, I feel a wall of snootiness that is just unpleasant and takes away from what could be a lovely shopping experience. As I'm sure you've figured out by now, items are definitely on the pricey side here. You can certainly find a better value and probably way friendlier service at other bookstores outside of LJ. I think Warwick's probably provides a different type of shopping experience for patrons depending on who the employees perceive them to be, even if they are way off the mark. C'est la vie. Just know that if you are a POC and you shop here, you may have an unpleasant experience, but I certainly hope that you don't! Peace.

For my dad, I picked up a dad hat, which he wears often. For my mom, a hoodie and a tote. Not only are the designs cute, prices are reasonable, and are of good quality materials. I recently completed an employee survey and scored a free mini tote, similar to the ones at Trader Joe's! After my shopping spree, I like to head outdoors to lay in the hammocks near the fountain. Went to go check this place out with a friend because according to Yelp it's a "Record Store"…read more All I can say is WTF Yelp? While this is certainly a unique and interesting little spot, there's virtually zero reason to visit here unless you live on the UC San Diego campus. Finding parking anywhere at the school is a real B, and it gets pricey very quickly if you have to purchase an hourly pass. As far as "records" are concerned, they do have a handful of vinyl here, however, seeing as how I was looking for CDs (I don't have the six figure salary seemingly required to collect decent quality vinyl these days) the aforementioned sonic dinner plates are likely the basis of Yelp's inaccurate recommendation, and lemme tell ya, the vinyl selection was nothing to write home about. What Red Brontasaurus TRULY is (I know, it should be obvious based on the name, right?!) is a GENERAL STORE for students who live ON CAMPUS. Great place to go if you're looking for scantrons, blue-books, pencils, random dry foods which can be stored/cooked in a dorm room, etc. But wait! Don't think this place is just for squares to gather study supplies. No, they also sell old video games (which I guess would qualify for vintage by now?) for the Original Xbox, Playstation 2, Playstation 1, Gameboy Color, and a few cartridges for older consoles (if I recall correctly). There's also a random Sega Dreamcast controller if you're in the market for one of those. There was additionally an offering of used DVDs which were at a great price (don't recall exactly but it was somewhere around 3 DVDs for $5) and some extremely random dorm-room decor. There are comic books too, but they're overpriced so don't even bother. Oh yeah, and they also sell graffiti artist quality spray-paint. I'm not joking. This business is a student-run co-op, so it's pretty difficult to describe. It certainly defies expectation, and I find it ironic that there are marijuana references on the pricing signs all over the store, seeing as how most of the items for sale were likely pawned off on them by students who've run out of weed money. When I went to check out, I just kind of stood there awkwardly for several minutes waiting to be noticed, as two students behind the counter just kind of tangentially ranted to each other a la "Omg, college!" "Omg, I know rite? Hashtag!" Funnily enough, the only person (of THREE) behind the counter who acknowledged me was some dude so far towards the wall that I figured he was one of the other two's friends just loitering around. I guess I can't blame them though, I mean if I was a teenager running my own business and there was zero chance of failure, I'd probably just hang out and do nothing too. Don't get me wrong, this is definitely a coooool spot maaaaan. It just doesn't offer much value to outsiders besides a through-the-looking-glass view of what it would be like if Peter Pan's Posse ran a junk shop nicknamed "The G-Spot" (You think I'm joking about the name too, don't you).
