I do enjoy books however this is not the reason I come to Barnes and Noble. I come here for their one piece cards, Pokemon cards and their baseball cards. Not sure why this place only has a 3.5 rating, it's huge and definitely busy, but not overwhelmingly crowded, which makes for a really pleasant experience. I stopped by the café inside and ordered a latte along with the lemon loaf, which was labeled as the barista's favorite and it did not disappoint. Both were delicious. They also offer a variety of drinks and sandwiches, giving you plenty of options. The staff was very friendly, which added to the overall positive vibe. It's an easy place to spend an hour or more just walking around, and it can also be a great spot to study or get some work done, though it may get busier at times. I'd highly recommend checking this place out. read more

For a long time, I went to Barnes & Noble and Borders and lots of other bookstores. Nowadays, I don't have the time to go to them unfortunately to sit there and read, but I do still get gifts for people from this particular Barnes & Noble, as they've got a pretty large selection. However, this isn't why I'm giving the place 5 stars, as that's something you can find at most Barnes & Noble locations. No, I'm giving this place 5 stars because this place has an IMMACULATE bathroom. Anytime I've been out driving and couldn't make it home, or after watching movies at the nearby theater, or eating at Islands nearby, I've used the bathrooms here. They're ridiculously clean, almost never have anyone in them so no line to wait in, full of toilet paper, floors clean, windows clean, large stalls, and so on. The bookstore itself is quiet, which also adds to how great it is to take a dump in there. Honestly, I've even bought something here once or twice on the way out just to show gratitude for having such convenient, well maintained, spacious bathrooms. And of course, they cost nothing to use, no number code to put in, nothing like that. So if you're in the area, and you need to take a huge dump, you go to Barnes & Noble. There's nowhere better for it nearby. read more

This B&N has had my business for years! This is a larger location than the smaller Carmel Mountain one and has a cafe. They offer a wide variety of everything and the store is pretty clean. Their kids section is so cute and my kids love coming here. The employees are always friendly and they have so much patience with everyone. Parking is pretty easy as they share a huge lot with the movie theatre and other good sized businesses. Highly recommend! read more

It's just a block off the freeway with easy parking, and there's plenty of spots. This Barnes and Nobles offers a great selection of books. The place is a convenient place to grab a coffee and study or simply spend a few hours going through a new release. There's good seating. One of the biggest Barnes and nobles in the San Diego area. I love this Barnes & Noble. Years ago, I used to have a Meetup group that met here - the staff is fantastic!!! It's a great place to start out the morning - the largest selection of magazines. Love their servers - use those coupons you get at checkout ! Then walk over and get yourself an excellent pastry. The baristas have been coming up with their own selection of drinks, yesterday I had an iced chai with a strawberry topping that she made without dairy! That went above and beyond! Nice place to sit down and just read a magazine - and now they have novellas for $5 - they choose one and recommend it at the counter - very helpful. Picked this one up yesterday - nearly done!! It's Barnes & Noble first, Starbucks next. Therefore they don't accept Starbucks gift card or gold card at this location. They accept cash or card though. The workers are nice and friendly. My cousin got ice water (free). Added some lemon juice packet to it, very refreshing. I ordered an iced shaken espresso with whole milk and a little bit of sweetener. I like that they didn't fill it all the way up with milk, therefore it's not like those other Starbucks where they give you 99% milk. I thought it was perfectly balanced and nice and foamy! The price was under $5 at $3.79 which is pretty good for a tall (small cup). They have outdoor seating (but it's hot out) and indoor seating (nice seats and tables, very big space). The vibes are warm and open. I like it! You can walk around Barnes and Nobles with the drinks too. read more

I frequently go here and there is something for everyone. The store is organized, clean, and has tons of gift items for purchase. You also can't go wrong with the cafe. They even have sandwiches and cheesecake. Workers are always helpful and friendly, and the patrons generally seem respectful. I feel safe letting my kids browse on their own. We have spent many afternoons here browsing, reading, and sitting at the cafe. Books are a bit pricey but that is to be expected. I hope they never close! read more

Loved going to this Barnes & Noble for years, then now that I am back for good in SD I feel like I did not spend 8 years at another city when I spend a Sunday afternoon reading magazines and having a coffee there. Feel simply 'home' and 'cozyness'. You would think how can you feel cozy at a big establishment with many people. I don't know why, maybe is the layout, how easy it is to find an empty table to pile up with those magazines while enjoying a capuccino. I like this B&N so much. read more

This bookstore is awesome because they hosted a book signing with authors: Jeff Yang, Phil Yu and Philip Wang. These 3 guys wrote the latest book on RISE! So cool to meet them in person and have them sign my book, attendees did not need to buy their book directly from BArnes but it's suggested. Browsing through bookstores is something I used to take for granted. There are so few bookstores anymore that you don't have many opportunities to do so. I personally love walking through the store and seeing what new books are out. Barnes and Noble is now offering more deals to compete with online retailers and started selling more toys and gifts in addition to books. Bringing my son in is a great way to peak his interest in reading as he can actually walk around and look at the covers and see what all is available. Note to the reader* when I walked in there were only a few other customers as they had only recently opened for the day. I browsed the appropriate section for at least a couple minutes before I regrettably asked 3 employees if they still carried the product I was looking for. The first employee was talking on their earpiece and ignored me, the second said they would look, but instead proceeded to talk to another employee and then make a phone call. The third employee I asked was about to check, bless their heart, before the second employee overheard my repeat question and finally graced me with their bad news, "Oh yeah, we don't carry it anymore, sorry". Then went right back to her phone call.... Great. Thanks. I'm beyond relieved to still have brick and mortar book stores that make the walk-in customer their first priority. Thanks B&N. This store was big, organized and clean. We needed a few books for my sons school work. We looked around and couldn't find a section for Black history month. I thought for sure, they would have one section since this is an important month. We spoke to a staff member and she walked us over to a small section at the end of an aisle. It had a few books that were very good books for Black history month. We found a great book for my son but there wasn't much to chose from. I wish the selection was bigger but at least there was a small section. The staff member was very kind and helpful. The cashier was fast and friendly. Overall, it's a great store with great staff. Used to spend lots of time here studying or readingnall the magazines instead of buying them lol. The coffee shop was always a good place to get my brainstorming on. The reading material here is always available and reasonably priced. The place is always neat and organized. Every so often there's a meet and greet of authors. I don't usually buy books. My wife does as she is a bookwo so I happen to join her when she needs a book or two. With most articles and media being digital it's a rarity that I feel the need to buy a paper back or magazine. Once in a while I'll find one read that's worth buying to collect such as Kobe Bryant's Book. Added it to our growing collection at home. Not sure if I'll read it or just keep it on display as I am a diehard Lakers Fan. Got a great price! I'll be back for sure as my wife is a teacher. Lots of different sections full of interesting books: history, sports, cooking, science, adult and young adult fiction, a children's section.. and a whole section at the front (opposite end of Starbucks) with a bunch of discounted finds. I'm a student/ Author and this is my absolute favorite place to go after school or on the weekends. The staff is always friendly (shoutout to the event manager!) She was super friendly and I enjoyed coming to the Harry Potter events and meeting new people. The cafe is a wonderful place to study, but the chairs fill up quickly so get there early! Recently at the cafe, they had a limited time "buy one get one free" cookie deal, and my credit card only had 3 dollars on it so I was able to get a tea, but this sweet employee who ran the counter gave a warm smile (and gave a warm cookie!) I am going through a literary phase now, I just want to dig into good reads. After searching online, I stumbled upon this title. I have Barnes and Noble very close to me. They are not open for in store shopping just yet. They will starting June 5th. However they offer curbside pick up for online orders. I made my order online and it was ready in less than 5 minutes. I got the text message and went over on my lunch break to pick it up. They had a sign outside with instructions and a box next to it. You call the number with your name or order number. You will need to stand on the orange x and wait for them to drop off the book in the box. Once they are back inside you can get your items. It was a very easy, safe and quick process. Came here with my friend a few times to do our schoolwork because there wasn't wifi on campus. It is also open pretty late. We worked in their cafe area, which was fairly small and the tables weren't very clean. This bookstore is quite small compared to a lot of other Barnes and Nobles. From the outside it looks like it could be two stories, but it is only one. We were indoors and they had no mask enforcement. read more

What's not to love about a book store? This one is clean, has great displays and an amazing staff. We popped in today after a quick dinner. It was like hanging out with an old friend. I've been visiting with online but hadn't seeeeen in person in a while. To see the categories of books next to one another, discover new writers akin to meeting new friends. This trip we lingered in the magazine section. Which was robust with titles I had forgotten about and some which were new. TallGirl was eagerly awaiting the new release of GQ, which we found in pristine condition. I picked up a meditation magazine, and thumbed through some books I am bound to be reading soon. This location also has the OneBook OneSanDiego program. Which is cool. They also have a ton of other community and neighborhood programs for reading. It's a wonderful resource to supplement our great libraries and other independent book sellers. Go, hang out with your fav authors, grab a coffee and take a great read home. read more

It's a typical, solid B&N with a good selection. Much larger than others near the area (e.g., the Carmel Mountain branch.) Mainly writing a review because they had one of those buy-a-book-without-seeing-it sections where they keep the Nooks, and the employees were SO great about it. Seriously, the cashier even turned a part of the register and covered the keypad so everything would stay a surprise until I unwrapped it. I had, perhaps the best experience I've ever had with a problem being taken care of. Since I live near here, I've obviously come here for books over the years. I came in this morning and something I thought would be there wasn't (long story), but GWEN...who I believe is a manager there...could not have been nicer in trying to help me locate the book at another location. She offered me coffee or tea while I waited. It was quite simply, the best experience, in my 50 years on this planet, of having someone take care of a problem. I stopped in the Noble to pick up a few holiday gifts for some colleagues and to browse to see if I could find anything interesting. I do like to browse. I needed a baking cook book with I readily found a great cookie one featuring cookie recipes from around the world for $10.95. I was happy to learn that they had an abundance of not just Star Wars genre books, but also quite the layout of Star Wars toys and memorabilia for reasonable but nor cheap prices. I pick up a couple of Star Wars figurines that will hopefully some day be collectables. As I browsed, one of the employees offered to hold my stuff at the front, so I would not have to carry stuff around. She was nice and so was the lady who rung me up at the register, and let me tell, you it pays to be a member, especially if you come often. Good discounts. read more

The Barnes & Noble Cafe deserves it's own spot on YELP as their menu is extensive and while they are still part of the bookstore, it is practically a separate entity! The Cafe is inside the Barnes & Noble bookstore. You can enter through the front of the bookstore doors or the side door which leads right into the Cafe. The Cafe looks like a Starbucks....but it is not! Starbucks is their vendor though, so they do make 99% of your Starbucks drinks...you order just like you would at Starbucks. Their teas is from Harney & Sons... and not the same as Starbucks but their flavors are nice and tasty! They have a wide selection of hot foods, soups, desserts, and drinks. I have eaten here and have gotten many drinks and desserts here so here is my rundown: Hot Teas: Camomile, peppermint, blueberry green, green tea, green tea with coconut and ginger, tropical green with pineapple, earl grey, english breakfast, African autumn (cranberry orange herbal bush) Drinks: Same as Starbucks. They have a secret menu that is BN cafe exclusive (ask for it!) which includes items like Skittles Frap, Oreo Frap, Twix, Thin Mint. Food: They serve two different soups everyday! Chili is served everyday and is quite tasty! The other soup is rotated. My favorites include the turkey wrap, caprese sandwich, and the chicken bacon ranch. Food items are pre-made and cooked in the oven...takes 1-4 minutes to make. They also have hot pretzels and personal pizzas. Desserts: They have the best selection of desserts from all sorts of cookies, cupcakes, muffins, scones, bars, and Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes. My favorite is the peanut butter cookie, chocolate chip cookie, blueberry muffins, cannoli, and their Red Velvet cheesecake! Their cookies are baked daily in-house and are fresh! They also sell whole cheesecakes which are Cheesecake Factory brand and way cheaper than what Cheesecake Factory sells them for. The cafe also has tons of seating and 4 tables outside. They have free wifi as well (labeled under at&t). This isn't exactly the place to study as there are no outlets... but you are definitely welcome to. They even have baristas coming out to take your order and check up on your from time to time! They are quick and efficient and customer service is great! Come check this cafe out! The lines are much faster than the Starbucks across the street, and you will get your items much faster :) Tips: They always make special drinks for movie premieres, so come check this place out to try one of their inventive menu of special drinks when a big new movie comes out! They do not take Starbucks gift cards or loyalty cards or coupons as they are not owned by Starbucks but they do take Barnes & Noble membership for 10% off your order if you have one! read more

Spent about three hours here since I needed to do some work after setting down chairs for an advance screening at Edwards and needed wi-fi. I love that they have a cafe here where you can order food, order drinks. I've come here before just to get a drink or a snack and talk with friends, or grab a drink and walk around and browse the book selections. This particular Barnes and Noble is very large. It has all their nooks on display and lots of areas to sit, especially in the cafe, which is where I decided to sit. Chairs/bench aren't the most comfortable but I guess that's to be expected. There is one couch to sit in the store, but it was already occupied. I was surprised to see how packed it was with people just sitting in the cafe area. Was hard to find a plug which I later found Panera might have been better for my purposes as they have dedicated plugs all over the place, but I'm just happy this bookstore still exists and is here. Love being surrounded by books, and the people here are friendly. For people who love Star Wars collectibles and Lego sets, B&N does sell a few of these items here and are discounted. They have POP figures too now - definitely expanded in offerings throughout the years of what they offer (I don't frequent B&N so I'm not sure when these items were added). I come here quite regularly if it's not too late after a movie at Edwards and still want to hang out and talk to the company I am with, and I will continue to come here. It's a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the busy complex. read more

I love visiting book stores. There is something about picking up a book right in front of you, looking through the content, and deciding to buy it right then and there. It is often cheaper to buy it on line but you have the satisfaction of taking it home immediately and enjoying it. The selection is pretty good. They have the latest popular novels. The few staff members I have interacted with directed me to some authors I was not familiar with. There recommendations were excellent and I enjoyed some great books. read more
