My husband got his burger first then about 10 minutes later I got my fish and chips . 10 minutes after that my grandson got his sushi roll . Burger was dry overcooked and cold by the time all the food came out . The fish and chips were terrible would never order again . Did not like this place . Then the waitress comes over for us to tap to pay, but never gave us the bill. First of all the service was excellent. Our server was very nice and apologitic. The all you can eat sushi was good except for the pot sticker, frozen in the middle. 2 of our diner ordered bowl and did not get their food for an hour. There were many conversations with the waiter and the manager never came out to talk to us. It's been awhile since I've updated my review and since then, some things have changed! All you can eat sushi is back at Himiko and I couldn't be more excited about it! Upon entering the staff may try to seat you at a table but no worries, if you're there for sushi, you can ask to be seated at the Sushi bar. We asked to sit at the bar for lunch and virtually nobody was there! I like going when it's a bit slower because my food comes out faster. At Himiko, you order sushi only from the man/woman behind the bar. Any drinks and appetizers, or any other kind of food will be placed with, and come from your server. Since my last review, they've also come under new management and I believe it has been for the better so far. My mussels weren't cold this time, and we didn't wait hardly any time for the appetizers to come. My only complaint is that most sushi restaurants will offer "lunch sushi" where 'long rolls' and 'hand rolls' are separated from the 'dinner rolls' and lunch wouldn't include the dinner rolls and the price is cheaper. That's what Himiko needs. A cheaper lunch sushi option. Otherwise, as always, Himiko is the best sushi in Elko. Don't risk the food poisoning at the other place. read more

We had a party of 9 (4 of which were friends) with two birthdays. Ordering went smoothly somewhat. Appetizers were pretty quick to come out. Food came out sporadically with almost 30 minute wait from ordering to get a 10oz ribeye rare 10 mins after everyone else got their food. Salad that was supposed to come out with the ribeye never came out. My youngest wanted chicken nuggets. They brought out very thin crinkled breaded chicken (maybe) breast. It looked weird and he refused to touch it because it was obviously not chicken nuggets. I asked to have it taken off the bill due to it not being what we asked for and the server refused. I told him he didn't even touch it because it isn't chicken nuggets and he said well it's real chicken. While that may be he knows what chicken nuggets are supposed to look like and those didn't look like chicken nuggets. My husband was not happy and the kids were over it being there over an hour and a half. Our bill was $186 with added gratuity for 2 adults and 3 kids. Drinks were $4.00 each for ice tea, Dr Pepper and 2 kids drinks. Yes even the kids drinks were $4.00 each. Pretty ridiculous. Gratuity of $28.82 was added to our bill and then it was also added to my friends bill as well. So for what little service we got this server got a $50+ gratuity on top of tip. We go here for birthdays and celebrations several times a year but this time really left a bad taste in our mouth. Be aware the prices are out of control. Service is hit or miss- it had been decent in the past but this time the server seemed like we were inconveniencing him. Food was decent but not worth the price- sushi isn't any better than what you get at the local grocery stores. Really don't understand the low ratings on Himiko's? I invited one of my customers out to dinner and told them to pick any place in town they wanted to go. They picked Himiko Steakhouse and Sushi. Thinking to myself that this is cattle country so the steaks should be good but Sushi in Elko? It can't be any good. Well I was totally wrong and soon realized why it was my customers favorite place eat. The hand grenades are amazing, some of the rolls are the longest I have ever seen in any Sushi restaurant. I'm talking like 15 inches long! The service was excellent and atmosphere fitting. I would definitely recommend giving the place a try and go easy on how many rolls you order at first. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. They told us a 20 minute wait to be seated. Slightly delayed in the kitchen. We sat there for 50 minutes with no update. We over heard the staff talking about sushi was over an hour behind in the kitchen. Waited another 5 minutes and walked out. 7 other groups came in and left. The hostess was nowhere to be found. Flavor was fine but the amount of fish to jalapeño was lacking. Also the rice was a bit dry and crunchy. The have started to do AYCE for $40. A bit too steep for me but at $16 a roll it wouldn't take much to hit the mark. read more

The food is good, they were short staffed so it was a bit of a wait. That's not why I dropped a star, unlike some very rude people that don't want to understand the problem of being short staffed, my complaint was with the chefs choice sashimi. Generally with 12 pieces you would get 2 of 6 kinds of fish, or even 3 of 4 kinds. This was 4 of 3 kinds. I just rather have a little more variety. Okay... so the owner is now IN restaurant most of the time. He's made the manager shape up, and he's actually polite enough now. They pay more attention to you and the quality of food seems a lot better now. No more hour waits to get food. It's been a night and day difference to never wanting to come back when the owner wasn't around, to actually being a decent dinner spot. Visiting Elko, check this place out, really good sushi. Apparently reservations may be necessary. Group of 6 in front of us need to wait an hour, our group of 4 was small enough to get a table just in time. The sushi was great! Service was great, food arrived fresh and fast! I liked the Chef Special, what you want inspired by the chef and Gotta Have it. I enjoyed spicy tuna in the Chef Special, I believe that was the finest spicy tuna sushi I have enjoyed recently! There is a certain expectation when you advertise as a "Japanese steakhouse" in America: hibachi, teppanyaki, table cooking... whatever you want to call it, that's what the American brain associates with "Japanese steakhouse". I should have left when I walked in, was greeted by a hostess that treated me like something she'd stepped in, then proceeded to have no clue whatsoever what teppanyaki-style cooking was. Fine, whatever... I wanted to try their seared tuna, so I asked to be sat at a booth or table. So after she sat me at the sushi bar instead (seriously... what the hell?) I started giving the place the once over. Nice decor, but the whole restaurant seemed to be run by two older white dudes, and a WHOLE BUNCH of kids that couldn't have been more than 12. No, seriously, none of the wait staff or sushi chefs looked old enough to be out of high school, much less culinary academy. Got my seared tuna steak. Was advertised as coming with a variety of dipping sauces... there were none. There WERE some sauces slathered on it, though not nearly enough to mask the overwhelming amount of pepper on the fish. I couldn't taste the ahi over the burning in my mouth (which kinda makes me wonder if that was the chef's intentions). Look, I don't expect authentic Osaka izakaya or Kyoto street fair food in Elko frickin' Nevada. But I just left Kansas City, and several places there have figured out how to work a hibachi (not to mention sourcing and serving seafood better prepared than what I had tonight, all while being a couple thousand miles more inland than Himiko's). And the snooty attitude and ambiance only highlights how much more terrible this place is compared to sushi restaurants run by trained chefs in less desirable locations. I've eaten at a sushi place in Vegas that's set up in an old 50's diner stand that's worth A THOUSAND Himiko's. read more

I tried to take my family in for lunch and was turned away at 1:38 because they said they were closed at 2:00. I have been on several occasions closer to 2:00 and been served. We have been to Himiko twice since our stay in Wells, Nevada. Both time we celebrated a special occasion. The bartender was very nice and friendly. The food was amazing both times. Gyozas and miso soup for appetizers. Teriyaki steak dinner and sushi rolls. The steak is also amazing with parm wrapped asparagus with mashed potatoes. We also got drinks that were delicious and did the trick. definitely recommend this place if you are traveling through Elko. read more

If I could give a negative star rating I would. The service is absolute shit. We decided to give them a try after continuing hearing everyone say how much this place has changed and for the better. We were served the same rolls over and over again with a different name each time. None of which we actually ordered. We asked for no fish eggs and they sarcastically dumped what seemed like a whole bottle of fish eggs on top of one of the rolls. When I sent the rolls back they had an attitude about it. I asked for the manager and he "oh I'm sorry" but didn't want to do anything to correct the problem. I told him if he didn't want to make it right then I would go to the owner, he then laughed in my face and said "no you're not going to the owner, and I'll make sure he doesn't talk to you". Seems that all the sushi places in Elko have at least one thing in common. They serve more things than just Sushi. Normally this is a sign that the business just isn't focused on their sushi enough. Buy way out here in BFE (Bery Far Elko) you need that other facet to the business to stay IN business. One place has Chinese another place has a random assortment of stuff. And now this place has a ton of Japanese to go with the Americanized sushi. And the cool thing is...lots of that "other" stuff is part of the All You Can Eat price of $31 for dinner. They had noodles and teriyaki and tempura and desserts and more things than I could sample in one sitting. I broke my newly minted rule of no eating AYCE sushi by myself...but I really wanted to try the new place! And sure enough...I was a beached orca when I left. This place is the nicest sushi restaurant in Elko and would easily be top 3 in Reno when it comes to atmosphere and ambiance. Lots of space and dark colors make this one step above the old Kabuki place that they moved out of. Totally a date night type of place. One thing that is weird is the bar is WAY too deep. I had to stand on the legs of the chair just to get my set up of ginger and soy bowl. Conversely it means you actually have lots of room at the bar for the sushi as it comes. The food was pretty good. The girl that was making mine was overwhelmed at times with lots of orders, but she handled it pretty well. I honestly wouldn't go back for the nigiri because the rice to fish ratio was a bit heavy on the rice. She did put a good hand roll together and the tobiko with quail egg was really good. I also had some beef Yakisoba which was a nice change of pace...but very filling too, so if you want to get your money's worth...make for sure you can share this one with at least a couple of people. TLDR: Wife and I at here 9 months ago. Good time. We came back 4 months later, bad time. We came back tonight... NEVER RETURNING AGAIN! This review requires an amount of back story. 9 months ago, my girlfriend (now wife) and I chose Himiko as our date night spot. And to their credit, they were amazing. They had creative, inspired chefs and amazing wait staff. Even though I got a steak, the waitress was alright with me picking off of my wife's all you can eat order. Their steak was good and the dishes were mouth watering delights to the last. We were expecting amazing service. We were ready to test the creatives behind the sushi counter. We got a newish, pushy waiter who, within the first dish hitting the table, killed the mood. We spoke to the manager and paid our bill. We returned again this evening, and hadnt even gotten our drinks before the night was once more punched in the face. Our waitress, who was nice enough if a little tired, prefaced our order with a warning that they, a sushi/steak restaraut, were not serving all you can eat meals due to COVID-19 and the restrictions because of the sickness. They said that serving AYCE sushi classified them as a buffet, and that they weren't going to offer it. Instead, they had a meal deal of 3 rolls of our choice and an appetizer for $33. Their AYCE meal (the personalized Omikaze) cost $38 per person. It is interesting to us that sushi restraunts are not allowed to serve AYCE sushi as my wife and I, not four weeks ago during Phase 1, had all you can eat sushi at Himiko's comotetetor, Blue Moon. So instead of paying way too much for way too little, my wife and I decided to have an amazing meal (and overall experience) at THE BLUE MOON. I would further argue that TBM is a much more affordable and higher quality establishment that could sweep Himiko off of the Elko map, if they were competing seriously. To close, we were excited for a warm, inviting restraunt to enjoy a night out at. We instead recieved sub-par service and sub-par management and will never take our business back to this restraunt again. I strongly urge all of my friends and family to avoid this place like the plague and choose instead, much more quality small town family restraunts. read more

The food and sushi was good when I had it back in March for a birthday dinner for one of my family members. The only complaint I have is they had the music turned up to the max they didn't have the courtesy ask if it was too loud. It was so loud that ai couldn't talk to my brother an father when they were literally right next to me it was very rude to have the music so dang loud. read more

Now to what actually matters. Our waitress was extremely nice, the service was great. Someone came and got our drink order almost immediately. And out waitress came by right after to get our order. Our drinks were always filled by either our waitress or a buss boy. The appetizers came out within 5-10 minutes and the food was close behind. The wait time has improved immensely. I've never had food come out so promptly at this location. We were done and check was paid within an hour. Also the food had a fresher taste and didn't taste like it had sat out all day. I got the all you can eat for 33$ and barley had a enough room for everything. I don't have a single complaint. The experience all around was great. I really hope things stay this way. read more

At this point, the mussels which were ready to eat at pickup were now cold. The timing for my wife's lunch break was now destroyed. When asking for a manager, I was told that they did not have a manager on shift. I asked who was in charge to resolve issues, and was told that there was no one. I was told that the owners were out of state but would be back. I left my contact information and was told the owners would call. Have not heard from any owners. Really good for all you can eat sushi. This place was pretty cool. I loved the music and the service was really good. I thought the menu was really open and diverse for all you can eat as well. Usually the specialty rolls are included in all you can eat, but the menu was inclusive. I really enjoyed it and will be back whenever I'm in the area. read more
