Food was fine however the service from the manager Lorena was absurd, a drink was spilt on accident and she proceeded to go in the backroom where we were seated and make a rude comment calling the whole table childish and kept going back and giving us nasty looks, it completely ruined our experience and made our visit short, never going back! read more

In Elko for first time and decided to stop in for supper. We're seated immediately, they took drink order and gave time to look at their big menu. Chips and salsa and drinks were on table even before we decided what to eat. My friend got carne asada and I did fajita combo with steak and chicken. We added guacamole for the chips, which were thin crispy and warm. It felt like they were homemade. The food was excellent, flavorful and very filling. Service was excellent. Overall good food and service. Good parking area (for trailers + large vehicles) due to being adjacent to a large shopping plaza. Chips and salsa were plentiful and refilled often/quickly. There were a number of salsas with the chips. A nice touch. Food portions were large. I had ordered a two-poblano meal and it was really more than I wanted, but I don't know how to not eat what's in front of me. It was tasty, too, so that helped. The restrooms were nice/clean. We ordered take out and the way they packaged it was genius! My husband ordered three crispy beef tacos with rice & beans. The taco shells were separate from a container of beef, one of lettuce & tomato, and from the cheese. A separate container held the rice & beans. My salad was in another container with salsa on the side. The chips were amazing! The salsa was so great I wanted to buy more to take home. Everything was ready quickly and the staff was very helpful with utensils and drinks. Everyone inside seemed to be having a great time. I wish we had discovered this place earlier--between the incredible food (so fresh!) and great hospitality, it's our top spot. read more

5 stars aren't enough for this true gem in Elko. Everything from the flavor, presentation, and portion of my food was top tier. I had the enchiladas suiza plate and the esquites (corn appetizer). I wish I took pictures as soon as it came to my table, but Iy looked too damn good to wait. My bartender Chey was the icing on the cake. Excellent customer service and was great at multitasking while training a new employee. I will definitely be a frequent customer here, and once you try it, you will too. read more

Wow we moved here from Henderson, NV about 10 days ago and have eaten here twice now! We tried a couple other Mexican restaurants in the area and my husband and I prefer this out of all of them. Our server Trudy had been so pleasant both times, and on top of it! My 5 year old son is a picky eater and got the kids beef taco meal and ate the entire taco. I recommend trying it out, or giving it another shot if it's been a while since going. :) read more

I have visited here a few times as well. This was my first try with the shrimp. A little skeptical a first these were cooked well and tasted delicious. The portion to satisfy most and while the dish typically has the queso poured on mine was on the side. My guest had the same dish. I'll be back when in town. K - so (queso) here is another mixed review, and this is a generous 4 star rating. We were seated right away. Food a drink service was fast. Our server was super busy, but for the most part was right on top of service. The salsa and beans were "eh," but the queso was pretty good. The chips were just your basic basket of tortilla chips. Some were a little crispier than they should have been, but it was a whatever. I ordered a margarita and hubs had a Modelo. I have had a lot of margaritas in my life, and I'd honestly say it was probably the worst margarita I have ever had. The Modelo was apparently tasty. Hubs ordered the arroz con pollo. He rated it a 3.5/5. He said it was decent but not anything spectacular. I had the camarones al mojo de ajo, Diablo style. The shrimp were good, but the dish didn't even come with tortillas ... or they forgot to bring them ... or didn't ask if I wanted any. Looking around all the other tables had tortillas. And literally every other place I've had Diablo shrimp has peeled the shrimp. Not a huge deal, but ... The rice and beans were just mediocre. From Colorado traveling through Elko for work and tried to stop at Dos Amigos for some food and a marg based on the good reviews. Since it was just me dining (27 yr old Female) I sat at the bar, where the horribly rude bartender did not greet me, only asked to see my ID. After giving them my ID, she says she doesn't believe its real then takes it to the back to show the manager (mind you, its 8pm on a Monday and there is almost no one eating here). She returns and says that neither of them believe my ID is real to which I offered to show them my alternate form of Colorado ID but she rudely told me I can no longer sit there and need to leave. In all honesty it seemed like the bartender just wanted to close the bar and was looking for any excuse for me not to serve me. The whole brief experience was really terrible. Ordered Jalisco Fajitas. Worst fajitas I've ever had. All I could taste is salt. The chicken and steak is cut in weird chunks. Ordered the blue moonlight. You can tell it is all premixed. Visiting Nevada for the first time with a friend, stopped in Elko for a bite. Dos Amigos seemed like a safe bet. Our server was a gem of a gal as well as a fantastic host; Maddee made pleasant and polite conversation, accommodated me asking for extra tidbits, and checked in on us studiously. Not only did she bring us our drinks promptly and remembered our specific requests, but she also gave us plenty of extra time to decide on our meal. We felt wonderfully welcome in the restaurant. The enchiladas we got were tasty and hot, but I wouldn't recommend the tamales if you're used to having them homemade as they leave something to be desired. The food was good but the service was excellent. Maddee helped to impress a love for Nevada on us. If we were locals we would certainly return for Maddee. read more

Fast, friendly, good food, and good website to see menu. We were staying one night in Elko, tired from a long drive. The website was easy to navigate to see what was on the menu (including what was in each menu item, as well as menu item prices). We ordered pickup. In less than 20 mins we were pleasantly greeted and given our order. Hubbie had a burrito of some sort which he said was good. My taco salad was great - a good amount of meat which was not grisly or fatty. I highly recommend this place over the other big sit-down Mexican restaurant in town that we ate at a few yrs ago. read more

I don't know what it is about Mexican...but man, I'm not sure I could care less about this style of food. It never makes my brain go "wow" or my mouth go "oooh" but many times it has made my gut go.."uuugh". This wasn't one of those nights thankfully. For Mexican, Dos Amigos was ok. Oh Kay. Nothing spectacular and nothing bad at all to complain about. The bar is small and intimate. I was able to enjoy a long conversation between a husband and wife about the details of their next European getaway. I could NOT not hear it. So at least I was entertained while watching the worst major sport on TV. Who watches basketball? No, I get it, the last 10 minutes are great. Why don't we just have a 10 minutes game? Ooooops got off track. I had the Jaliscos Fajitas. That came with Shrimp (bland), beef (not cooked right), Chicken (awright), and chorizo (finally! Flavor!!). The dish was food! I also was able to get a "Top Shelf" margarita. Yeah, I paid for that one in more ways than one. No mas margaritas pour favor. So in short. I wasn't impressed. Nothing blew me away and made me wanna go back......ever. But please take into account Mexican is my least favorite "ethnic" food choice. 30 minutes to even get a drink order. Party of 11 5 people got food after an hour. 4 people after a hour 20. 1 hour 45 minutes a order of kids cheese qusadia and chimichanga showed up. By then the other people had already finished their meal. We've have eaten there occasionally over years. Never been very good food but some place to go. Never again. Almost forgot to mention that my daughter had long black hair in her enchilada and couldn't eat it. read more

My Order was to Go 1) Initially I ordered 2 main plates to go (aprox $24). Shrimp Fajitas and Queso Fundido with Shrimps. 2) Then I asked for some Churros to go. Guess what the woman who took my order did. (Spanish Woman) A) she said is $30, but SHE REFUSED to give me my receipt, using the excuse that she will need it to prepare my order. B) Without opening the registered, she gave me out of her pocket ¢50 and put the money for the churros on her pocket. Once I received the order, GUESS WHAT A) The Churros were not in there B) The Woman charged me for the churros, but never put the churros on the receipt. Im not concerned about the Churros, is the dishonesty of people working there. She took $4.50 from me (not a big deal) but for the dishonesty, they lost a Customer. read more

To start the service was terrible. There was only two other occupied tables in the restaurant along with ours. It took the server 20 minutes to return to take our order. We had to request refills on our chips and salsa. The guacamole was mushed up avocados with no spices or flavor. The waitress seemed annoyed each time. The food was subpar. My mother's burrito had red sauce only on top which was straight tomato sauce out of a can. Their famous fajitas had no flavor, the meat was chewy and dry. The other two member in our party order Chile Verdes which was watery, tasteless, and unfamiliar meat. The meat consistency was odd. The food is pretty good but the service is horrible except for Maria who I believe is a bus girl or a hostess. She outperformed everyone else there. We asked our waitress several times for some Tapatio and she never brought it. We asked Maria once and she brought it to our table immediately. She also brought us fresh chips and drinks right away. Went to dinner on my last trip to Elko with some locals. They had me meet them at Dos Amigos. I have to say, I was pleasantly suprised. Good food, pretty good service, and the prices seemed reasonable. Definitely a safe choice for anyone travelling across I-80 looking for a sit-down meal along the freeway (in the Smith's parking lot at the west exit in Elko.) We have eaten here many times when traveling, we are headed home to Reno from Jackson, Wyoming. We drove for hours-with plans to stop at Dos Amigos for an early dinner. Gabe was our server, I took notice of his name as we've had him serve us previously. We prefer cheese on our steak tacos, instead of sour cream & guacamole. Our tacos were fantastic & our teen boys loved their food as well! Gabe got all the orders correct off of memory. I noticed the updated remodel first in the restroom, it looks great! The lighting! Yikes. Awful. Please dim the lights, like a ton! It's been a challenging year and I hate to be negative, but was so disappointed to stop in tonight to a completely different place lacking the charm it once had. I always stay in Elko to/fro Sun Valley and it's perfectly close to Hampton Inn. Food is still great and staff so sweet. I adored my waitress Trudy. Not a fan of the remodel.
