It's now called Compadres Tacos, the menu looks a bit different than pictured here, but it was delicious! Our party of 3 enjoyed asada tostadas, an al pastor burrito, and al pastor and chicken sopes. The meat was delicious, cooked and seasoned perfectly--no fatty or gristly bits in any of it. The portions were very generous. The salsa bar was well stocked with 5 salsas, plus pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños/carrots/onions, chopped onions and chopped cilantro. All house made and ranged from super spicy to mild. Stayed in elko last night and I ordered some food from this place and it was the most disgusting mexican food I've ever had tacos de lengua- trash, rolled tacos-trash, beans and rice-trash would never recommend this to anyone read more

Coming from San Diego, no Mexican food compares. However this hole is the wall for being in Nevada and having tried other spots through this state... I'd give 4 stars for effort. I got a California burrito however no French fries. There wasn't barely any guacamole and the cheese was not melted . Also there was a lot of fatty parts in the meat and it's usually supposed to be pretty tender meat, but I got some hard over cooked pieces. The green salsa and jalapeños are DELICIOUS ! Barak got the ceviche which he loved since it was fish and I enjoyed it too. He also got a chicken burrito just no rice and beans. Service was good. read more

This little place is quite small, but seems to have some regulars coming. I got a burrito and was surprised at how spicy it was. I wasn't really asked about the spiciness so if that's a concern, make sure you're clear when you order. They have a salsa bar with several choices, and a very small menu with just one chef so quite a small operation. I probably would not come back again, but I was glad I went. read more

Driving through Nevada stopped in for lunch. My friends got the burrito and the combination plate carnitas respectively, and I got the torta with carne asada. All three of us liked the food. Very much a hole in the wall restaurant, 5 or so booths with torn seats so not fancy. But lunch for 3 was about $40, tasted good. My friend who got the carnitas was impressed with them. read more

We just moved to Elko from Reno and saw this little hole-in-the-wall taqueria while on a dog walk. Hoping to find a replacement for the taco spot we frequented just down the street from our old place, we decided to try Taqueria Ayala the same night for dinner. We got there just before they were about the close (earlier than indicated on Yelp) so some options were already gone, but we were able to get some asada and lengua tacos and they were WONDERFUL. We will definitely be going back to try more options. If you're looking for a Tex-Mex restaurant style experience where your tacos are pre -loaded with all the fixings, this isn't it. Ayala will give you some fresh tortillas topped with your meat of choice and then you can add pico de Gallo, onions, and salsas from their salsa bar. That's the sort of taco place I prefer personally. Plus, there are other, more elaborate, options on the menu if that's what you want. Taqueria Ayala actually outshines our previous favorite because the salsa is better. The green is mild but flavorful and the red has a nice kick to it. Definitely recommended and we'll be going back to try more! I can't wait to try the al pastor. read more

Elko is no longer equivalent to gross food. To be fair, I had only eaten in Elko once before but it was so terrible that it gave Elko a bad name (pss, don't go to McAdoo's). Taqueria Ayala is a hole in the wall and there is absolutely nothing fancy about this place but the food and service are just perfect. We had tacos de asada, carnitas, cuerito, lengua, chile verde and cabeza; sopes; tostadas de ceviche; bean and cheese, and carnitas burritos (we had our children and were very hungry, don't judge!). Everything was delicious. They have a small self serve station with pico de gallo, onions, cilantro, salsas. All the vegetables were very fresh and the sauces were good. We are very happy to have decided to try Ayala's and knowing that there is a good place to eat there next time we drive through. read more

Wow, this place was great! I came to grab some lunch, and I got three carne tacos. I initially asked for two carne and one pastor, but there was no more pastor. There were some other customers sitting inside too despite covid (but only one person at each table), and so I sat there to eat as well. I waited a bit for my food, and my taco was literally meat on two tortillas. There was a bar with red salsa, green salsa, onions, cilantro, cucumber & tomato & cilantro mix, and pickled peppers, so I helped myself to that. The tacos were so delicious; meat was super flavorful and the salsas were great. I really enjoyed this meal! It came out to be $5.11 including tax, which is definitely on the cheap side for three tacos! read more

Delicious food and huge portions! definitely will come back! I had the carne asada quesadilla and it was full of meat and sour cream (yeah not healthy but was amazing) and my husband had a carne asada burrito which was awesome. We ate about a third and took the rest home. And the woman at the counter was super nice. read more

Ordered ceviche and there was no apparent seafood in it when I opened it up at my place. There only seemed to be onion, cilantro, tomato, etc.. but no actual seafood. Then I tasted it and it tasted fishy. I went in to actually smell it and it smelled like fish. I looked even closer and it looked like they ground up old fish into it that is why there seemed to be no seafood or anything in there. It was so disgusting. I took a few bites of it unfortunately and it made me sick. My spouse also got sick from their food and threw up. People probably don't expect decent food in a little town like this, but for the sake of your well-being, you should probably stick to fast food in this place. Don't eat here. read more

Stopped by this small "mom & pop" restaurant on my road trip. We ordered Carne-asada rice/bean combination, Al pastor burrito & tacos with crane-asada & al pastor meat. This is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. It is a "Hole in the Wall" kind of restaurant; small, secluded, quiet, but just perfect. The staff is Small, but the customer service is better than anywhere else. They really do treat you like you're their family. My family loves to eat here, it is always a treat. The burritos are huge, the tacos come with tons of filling, and there is a little buffet type thing with salsa and other taco condiments. The rice is AMAZING, and my son absolutely loved the chicken quesadillas. If we want Mexican, we always go to Taqueria Ayala. read more

Great family operation, traditional food is exceptionally prepared to order and they understand that Customer Service only exists at 100%. During lunch time they give school kids who order a meal free bottle water...also soda, but meh w/e no sense in forcing morality on other people's parenting preferences. The only thing preventing me from giving them a 5 star review is cleanliness. The staff really needs to start cleaning the tables and floors more often. The smell of bleach and/or soap is not a deterrent. read more

This is 100% family owned and operated, and orders are taken on post-it notes. I always order the street tacos, which are delicious and extremely cheap. I have heard that their burritos have an amazing balance of flavors. If you want something fast and delicious, this is always a great choice. If you're a person who prefers authentic taquieras over Tex-Mex, and wants your tacos to be full of tongue, cheek, tripe or Al Pastor, this is definitely for you! read more

I live this place, Lengua and tripas tacos are off the hook. Only down fall but not a huge one is quesadilla is microwaved instead if cooked in the flat top it was still delicious but missing the crunch.... this place is still 5 star worthy if you are not in the mood for a quesadilla read more

We were looking for a tasty bite, and we're not disappointed! Their chewy soft corn tortillas and diced meat really hit the spot. Onions, pico de gallo, cilantro, jalapeños and limes as garnishes. Great place to relax, and have a nice meal. I stopped here with my dad when we were looking for a spot to eat that wasn't too packed, and this hit the mark. The carne asada burrito was delicious, and the street tacos were flavorful, and very cheap for a great tasting taco.
