I should start out saying, I'm usually not the type of person to leave a review of any type unless I feel it is absolutely warranted. It is in this case. The Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, my significant other and I ate at this establishment. We were greeted by a seating hostess with an attitude in overdrive. The server was actually good and the food was decent. When the check came, I paid but then recounted my cash change to ensure it was correct. This agitated the seating hostess for some reason. I gave the cash tip directly to the server not to her to give to him. This again, agitated the seating hostess for some other reason. I accidentally left my expensive prescription sunglasses on the counter where I recounted my change. I went back the next day, but they were closed and I had to be somewhere for the holiday weekend. I returned the following Wednesday to retrieve my sunglasses. I asked the attitude ladened seating hostess if she could look in their lost and found for my sunglasses. She said it was two weeks or so ago, and they wouldn't have them since they throw items they find out immediately. I reminded her it was only four- or five-days prior, and most establishments keep items a week or two after finding them so they can be possibly reclaimed by the owner, if not longer. I asked if she could talk to her manager to see if any sunglasses were found as I waited. She said she would but did not...this tells me she already knew what had happened to my sunglasses. She could not maintain eye contact while discussing the matter...avoidance from the truth. She made up different timeline to obscure the facts. I do not know if she had a hand in the tossing of my sunglasses or not, but Karma is watching and whoever did, may they get everything out of life karma has to give them. Decided to give La Fiesta a try. Had been here years ago but after finding Garibaldis, we rarely go anywhere else. Now we know why. My wife got a taco salad and it was disappointing. The tortilla was stale and soggy and not much flavor. My carne asada was very good but the rest of the meal was flavorless. Our chips were stale and soggy, no flavor to the salsa, cabbage was bland. A great lunch place with some different Mexican food comparing to Chicago. One of nice things is that they have jamaica drink. But limited choices of taco meat. I went for the fish platter while some of coworker went for typical taco platter and one of them went for bacon wrapped shrimp which was pretty interesting/more Spanish? My food was served in a big plate with soft tortillas in the side. The fish was not chopped, not breaded and fried, not grilled. It was two fillet and deep fried in whole. La Fiesta never disappoints! We have loved this place since they opened over 23 years ago. (I only remember this row frame because it was my favorite place to eat when I was pregnant with my now 23 year old!) While the staff is always amazing, Willie is definitely our favorite! He always has a smile and knows how to treat the customers. But what difference is a good staff if the food isn't good? And the food here? Good doesn't describe it adequately! It's exceptional! I'm a creature of habit, but when I stray from my normal choices, I'm still pleased! Tonight was a shrimp a la diabla night for me and a #17 two-chimichanga meal for the hubs. In town for work and I came here as a recommendation from someone local. We came early at 10 minutes till five. By 5 o'clock this place was already 90% full. We opened the menu and we were absolutely shocked at the prices. So incredibly inexpensive. Could we possibly be getting that gargantuas plate of food for this low price? My husband ordered a peach margarita for $4.50. We both ordered the chimichanga and enchilada plate. You get your choice of chicken, shredded beef, or steak. There is no up charge for ordering one over the other. It was just a flat $11.25. Sidenote here, when the bill came the meal was priced at $12. I have no problem that the dish with $.75 more than it was listed on the menu. However, I think this was brought up in another review about the price difference. Perhaps they should update their menu to reflect the difference in price. The food was delicious. The chicken chimichanga was nothing but chicken. But the flavor and the amount of chicken blew me away. It was topped with cheese and tomato. It also had a large amount of sour cream and homemade guacamole. The guacamole was a party in my mouth. I had the shredded beef enchilada and my husband had the steak. Both had great flavor. There was so much food we could not even finish it. Before the meal began they bring you corn chips and salsa with a side of cabbage relish. The salsa was not spicy but had great flavor. We did not try the cabbage relish that was brought to the table. Williams was our server and he seem to know everyone that walked through the restaurant. He was attentive, quick, and kind. The restaurant which is situated in downtown Elko, is definitely a place you want to check out. With so many Mexican restaurants in town I would be sure to make this your first stop. read more

Burrito was made great, green sauce was bland and no spice at all. The Spanish rice needs more flavor as well. My wife loved her cheese enchiladas but again the red sauce was the same as the green sauce. No spice, no heat, no kick! My wife ordered a sopapilla and she was given fried tortillas with whip cream and strawberry sauce or something. Maybe that was a misunderstanding. If sauces had heat definitely a 5 rating. We came here for flan. The other Mexican restaurant we ate at did not have flan either. Maybe it's not a thing in Elko. We stated margaritas and maybe dessert. We were seated and promptly provided chips/salsa and then ordered a big top shelf margarita. Our server, Willie, was our tequila educator introducing us to Don Julio 70 (a generous taste), Campo Azul Select and Centinela. We couldn't imagine better service. They also have a nice bar and they are located in a peaceful and historic part of Elko. We would definitely go back and hope that Willie is still there. read more

My whole review is based on the hostess putting a tip on my bill (to go) hiding that she did that and then had me sign (my bad, I almost asked her to show me the previous screen). When I asked her about it, there was no apology just, yes 12%. That was it. I was going to give her a $10, twice the tip, too. They had homeless people in the lobby, they were being nice to help them, but I have three little kids and I was pretty uncomfortable. We were in Elko, NV for the night and was craving some Mexican and Margaritas. We were so happy to stumble upon this place. Expect a little wait we got there at 6:30pm on a Saturday and there was a 15 minute wait. Luckily, we ordered margaritas while we waited, so the time went by fast. The entire staff was very friendly and never stopped moving. Our server Sergio was very helpful answering our questions about the menu and was very attentive during our meal. The atmosphere is very family friendly. The walls are covered with Polaroids of past guests wearing a sombrero and blowing out their birthday candle. In the bar area people write messages on money from all over the world and tape it to the wall. We had a great time here. Four of us visited for lunch mid-week. We were seated right away and took a while to review the extensive menu. I finally chose chicken fajitas with salad and French fries (instead of beans and rice.) The chicken seasoning was delicious and, amazingly, the chicken was not overcooked. Grrrr. I REALLY wanted to like this place. If you are from elko, you know that there's only a handful of good restaurants to visit. I was really hoping this restaurant would be on the list of good restaurants. Our first red flag should have been the fact that we waited 15 min to be seated or even acknowledged! So by the time we sat down, we were already annoyed. Our server took our drink order. After he dropped our drinks off, he disappeared for another 20 minutes. At this point we were confused?....Are they going out of business? Was the waiter on his lunch break? How could it take this long to grab lunch? After our server finally reappeared he took our order. We ordered: Chicken fajitas: These were awful :(. We were given about 1/2 of a sliced chicken breast that was basted in a tomato paste? The onions and peppers were so undercooked, that they made a loud crunching sound and tasted raw. The tortillas were rubbery and over microwaved. Overall, we were not impressed. Large Nacho: It's very hard to mess up nachos, but somehow they succeeded. The chips were greasy, the cheese was sparse and the beans were unseasoned. We ordered an extra side of sour cream (since they do skimp on the sour cream). Our meal came to a total of 38$. Considering we got one entree, an appetizer and a side of sour cream: 38$ was outrageous! Terrible service, subpar food and insanely high prices. My hubby and I were traveling through, stopping in Elko overnight. Our motel person recommended them and it was exactly what we needed. California is sooooo locked down, and nothing is open, it was such a nice relief to go out for dinner, our first time in a year!! The food was good and filling, the pitcher of margaritas was probably more than we needed, the services was friendly and professional. We will definitely come back next time we are traveling through. The chicken asado's seasoning was delicious and the whole beans the same - seasoned perfectly, not bland like the usual whole pinto beans are. I wanted a chili colorado tostada which wasn't on the menu and they made it for me - without skipping a beat. We stayed in Rodeway Inn and we asked the desk person what mexican food he could recommend to eat for dinner and it was fantastic La Fiesta restaurant and there margarita was awesome drink!!!! We lived in Oahu, Hawaii for the passed 2 years and just moved back in the mainland & there's only one restaurant in Kailua, Hawaii I could say that was decent mexican food in Oahu and tolerated to ate while we were there.
