Ribeye with all the sides that come as is. Chopped, grilled garlic is awesome. I took some to go with all the leftovers.

I was in town for work and decided to walk in as it was recommended by the team I was visiting. The food portions are enormous for anyone - but for one it was on another level. Starting with soup, salad, bread and butter. I ordered a petite ribeye and received even more food: spaghetti, beans, another chili cup, green beans, a huge handful of fries!! And the always appreciated bowl of croutons. Everyone there was very pleasant, along with the portions - I will definitely be back when I visit the site in Elko!

Pretty average experience at the Star Hotel... definitely not worth the hype. Old-feeling dining room, noisy bar tables even though the staff is friendly and try hard. Steak was cooked well but under seasoned. Chicken was overcooked. Sides were weird... chopped up spaghetti, salty soup, white bread, fries, canned-looking beans. Wine was average (and only one from Spain). Have these folks been to the Basque region??

In Elko one night on the way to SLC and asked a local which Basque restaurant would be better. It was a close call, but for atmosphere and variety of entree choices, we headed to The Star Hotel. Wednesday night and the place was packed! It's traditional family-style seating at tables for eight, but we shared a table with just another couple so there was plenty of room. Even before we order our entrees, cabbage soup arrived at the table. The soup was excellent. Of the other sides, we liked the salad (crunchy lettuce with creamy ranch-like dressing), the Basque beans (super flavorful), and the french bread. Green beans and fries were fine. The spaghetti, meh. Filet mignon was under-cooked for the order (server comped us a beer when it was pointed out to her). The fried Mountain Trout was very good. House wine as average as expected. We had a great time and would definitely recommend.

The name listed here can be confusing. I've seen it listed as The Star Hotel Basque Dining to make it clearer it is a restaurant. Which it is. Not a hotel. My wife and I went for dinner and sat in a high-top table close to the bar. See... the way it works for dinner is that you pick your entree and then get cabbage soup, salad, and a few sides to share. The entree was excellent. Their house drink was great. Dessert was big and tasty. The sides were just ok. Friendly service. We got live music come in at 6:00! The place was packed when we were there.

Pork chops - there were two of these!

Looking for a hearty Basque feast? This place delivers. We had the garlic steak and pork chops - massive portions with green beans, Basque beans, spaghetti, fries, salad, and really good cabbage soup. The Picon Punch is not for the faint of heart, you will want to let the ice melt a bit unless you want some serious kick. This gem in the heart of Elko is a must-try.

Everyone was raving about how amazing the food is at the Star Hotel. I was rather disappointed. If you love restaurants that serve large quantities of food then you will love this place. Your meal comes with cabbage soup, salad, green beans, spaghetti, beans, and french fries as a side. It's served family style where you share. All of the tables are long so you could end up sitting next to someone else. I ordered the steak sandwich and thought it didn't have a lot of flavor. There is very few parking out front so we had to park a couple blocks away. It's right next to a few brothels which might make parking awkward if you're with kids. The Basque style dining served in a family setting was a fun experience, but not something I would do again.

As always... delicious food and fantastic service...the guys and I enjoyed. One ordered the T-bobe, another ordered the steak sandwich and two of us had the Baked Lamb with a few Picon Punches. One day I'll figure out the secret behind this baked lamb...so fall off the bone delightful. Aloha and Mahalo much for another super visit.

The Star Hotel brings family style to a whole new level. Basque food in the desert, who could ask for anything more. They start you off with a welcoming tureen of cabbage soup, dense bread, and tasty, cold salad. When entrees come, they bring you additional sides: chickpeas, baked beans, fries, spaghetti with meat sauce, and green beans, which they should banish from the menu. The petite lamb chops were anything but-- 16 oz cooked to medium perfection and spiced just right with a heaping helping of roasted garlic on top. You don't need desert, but can't go wrong with a piece of cheesecake. I saw enormous lobster tails pass my table and crab legs as well. Impossible to leave here hungry. Also have beer wine and cocktails. Eating here made my long drive through the desert a bit more palatable. Don't miss this place. It is special.

We arrived early before the crowds came in. Our server greeted us the water, bread/butter and soup. We orders Cocktails and viewed the menu. I ordered the filet, my dining companions ordered the shrimp and the other one ordered the prime rib. We enjoyed our salads next, then the sides came out. Our entrees followed soon after. The whole meal and the ambiance of the restaurant was enjoyable!

The Star Hotel has all you want to see in a Basque restaurant: 'hotel' in it's name a bar just inside the door; a crowd enjoying picon punch waiting for the dining room to open; a dinning room with shared tables and Basque memorabilia. Soup comes quickly to the table here. A light vegetable soup eases the appetite to all the other sides. The sides of salad, bread, beans, green beans, sphagetti and fries were fine. I had the pirk loin, which resembled more like a thick pork shoulder steak. Roasted garlic is offered with no additional charge. The pork was very tender, juicy, and flavorfu. We shoulde have shared this dish. Service was very good in a busy place.

We were in town for a wedding and The Star was a big part of the weekend! I'm told that this is an iconic spot. We started out here on a Friday night for a welcome party. The place was still open for business, our group mostly stayed in the front by the bar. The inside walls are decorated with countless quirky items, you could come here multiple times and still be finding new things to look at. Despite how busy they were at the bar, we didn't have to wait long for drinks. The drinks were very cheap, we're talking like $5 for a cocktail. The wine I ordered was almost up to the brim of the glass. No wonder people love coming here for drinks! Some friends ate dinner here too and said it was incredible, especially the steak. There was some downtime in between the wedding and the reception the next day, so we came back here for some more drinks and hanging out. The reception had The Star do their catering, so all got to enjoy some of their food as well! The food included salad, pasta salad, chicken tenders, fries, and NY steak sandwiches. The steak sandwiches were served with their signature garlic and even had a roasted jalapeno pepper which was quite spicy! I was a little nervous to have a steak sandwich, thinking it would be a tough meat to eat as a sandwich. However, it was sooo tender and was actually really easy to eat as a sandwich! All the food we had was delicious, even their signature salad dressing. We had a great experience with The Star throughout the weekend, I can see why it is a staple in Elko. I'll plan to come back for a dine-in dinner next time we are here to get the full experience!

We were told no reservations were needed. My wife, two of her friends, and I came in, ordered drinks, and had an exceptional meal. The food quality was excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We were enjoying ourselves, having conversation after dinner, and had spent around $300 on the meal. Then, unexpectedly, someone other than our great waitress came to the table and told us we needed to leave because there was a reservation for our table at 7:30. This was shocking and incredibly awkward since there were several open tables including the one next to us that was the exact same size as ours. We were not informed of any time limit when seated, and we had been explicitly told earlier that reservations were not required. Being asked to leave after spending that much money--while still sitting and talking--felt rude and unprofessional. What made it worse: we drove by about 30 minutes later (around 8:00 PM), and the table was empty. No one was seated there. Great food does not excuse poor hospitality. If there are time limits or reservations, customers need to be told up front, not pressured out mid-evening after a premium-priced meal. This experience completely overshadowed what would have otherwise been a great night. Unfortunately, because of how this was handled, we won't be returning.

I heard the food was pretty good here and a decent deal. I go in with one co worker whose driving me around Elko. It's not really too smokey in here, so that's a good thing, but it's not a crowded Saturday night either with all kinds of drinking and smoking at the slots going on. We get seated at a nice table and I go over the menu. They have a prime rib special here for $17.99 and it's available everyday from 11 am! Most of these casino restaurants that have prime rib, only have that on Fri and Sat after like 4 pm. I passed this time, but what I did see was the Chicken Fried Steak! It's supposed to be a 10 oz. beef patty, breaded and deep fried served with country gravy, hashbrowns and toast, and then even THREE eggs, for just $13, that's a deal. In the Bay Area where I was just working, they don't even serve Chicken Fried Steak ..... it's like truck driver food I guess. My friend had this Cali Omelet ... yeah it was sort of breakfast time for us. That was the more healthy option with veggies and no meat, just the opposite of what I ordered! The food came out in short time and look fab! I ordered my Chicken Fried Steak on a separate plat with gravy on the side, so I didn't get gravy all mushed up with my eggs and potatoes. Holy moly, that was a lot of food! Super tasty, I just ate half and took the rest to go, gave it to my friend since I flying back out soon and I don't think the airline would appreciate me bring Chicken fried steak on the plane to eat! May 2026 Elko, N…read more Hmmmmm . . . 3.0 stars. Here is why. Arrived a little after 5 pm on a Friday. Two tables were already sitting. The hostess sat us in a separate room from the main dining room. It was hit brightly by the sun and felt like a second thought of leftover dining. Asked if we could sit in main dining room and she obliged. We asked about the menu and took time to review it. After some time we ordered. My husband had the chicken Alfredo and I ordered the PASTA MILANO which is described as: Chicken, Tomatoes, Mushrooms in a Roasted Garlic Cream Sauce over Penne Pasta. Sounds good right? It could have been good. But it was not. First of all, I never got chicken in the dish. The mushrooms were diced and very few in the dish. The only thing they got right was the tomatoes. I called the waitress over and told her that my dish had no chicken in it. She said well do you want some? I smiled and said well that's what the dish was supposed to come with. So I waited. Then I decided to go ahead and start eating my food because seven minutes went by and I still have no chicken. When the dish was originally served,, I asked the waitress for Parmesan cheese. She said we don't have Parmesan cheese, but we have black pepper. Huh???? of course you have Parmesan cheese. I have it on my Caesar salad. I really don't think she knew what Parmesan cheese was. I just shrugged my shoulders and took a bite of my food. Again, great concept. But the food had NO flavor. I added salt and pepper. Still nothing. I took the balsamic vinegar that was on the table and added it to the dish. There, I finally had flavor in my meal. But still no chicken. Finally, another waitress brings out a plate of squiggly worm like meat. She said, did somebody order chicken at this table? I was disgusted. First of all, it was not pleasant to see it look like that. Also, you should've offered to remake my meal, or at least take it back and mix it with the chicken. But to make me wait until my dishes is half gone and then bring over a plate of chicken is a poor decision. The chicken fettuccine had a good flavor. But the chicken was tough. Hard to chew. Not good flavor. I ordered a n/a Heineken. She brought it in a glass to the table. It was already poured so I don't know if I truly got what I ordered. Also the glass was too large for the amount of beer that was in it. Makes it look like it was half a drink. The waitress was kind, but we did not see much of her. She never offered to refill our bread basket. According to the menu, you get two baskets of bread and then if you want more you have to pay. We only got one basket of bread and never offered anymore. I was looking forward to some good pasta, and this restaurant did not deliver. Very disappointed in the service, and most definitely the food. The waitress took five dollars off of our meal, but she never explained why she did it or why she decided to take that amount of money. She never apologized for my dish, not having any protein, she never apologized for any thing. Management needs to teach staff that they can take ownership of the situation. It is OK to say you are sorry that the chicken was not put in your dish. Let's see what we can do to make it right. That would have gone so far. Instead, it left my attitude about this place as tough as the chicken in the fettuccine was.

I wish I remembered our servers name, she was fabulous. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My husband got some wings and a burger and I did the Korean rice bowl. The bowl was delicious, I just wish it had a little more heat. Husband had the Korean wings and he said the same thing but that the wings were cooked perfectly. Our son had the chicken Alfredo which you don't see on a kids menu very often and he loved it! All in all, this is going to be such a great addition to Fernley. Good food and family friendly!

We really wanted to enjoy our experience, but the service was disappointing. They eventually became frustrated and left. During that time, it appeared that a server and the manager were engaged in a lengthy conversation with another group of customers while multiple tables were waiting for service. We politely brought our concerns to the manager's attention, hoping for some acknowledgment or explanation, but the response was simply a head shake with no apology or attempt to address the situation. I understand that restaurants can get busy and that regular customers are important, but every guest should feel noticed and valued. Better communication--such as letting waiting tables know there will be a delay--would have gone a long way. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as the food and atmosphere deserve service that matches.
