Ribeye with all the sides that come as is. Chopped, grilled garlic is awesome. I took some to go with all the leftovers.

I was in town for work and decided to walk in as it was recommended by the team I was visiting. The food portions are enormous for anyone - but for one it was on another level. Starting with soup, salad, bread and butter. I ordered a petite ribeye and received even more food: spaghetti, beans, another chili cup, green beans, a huge handful of fries!! And the always appreciated bowl of croutons. Everyone there was very pleasant, along with the portions - I will definitely be back when I visit the site in Elko!

Pretty average experience at the Star Hotel... definitely not worth the hype. Old-feeling dining room, noisy bar tables even though the staff is friendly and try hard. Steak was cooked well but under seasoned. Chicken was overcooked. Sides were weird... chopped up spaghetti, salty soup, white bread, fries, canned-looking beans. Wine was average (and only one from Spain). Have these folks been to the Basque region??

In Elko one night on the way to SLC and asked a local which Basque restaurant would be better. It was a close call, but for atmosphere and variety of entree choices, we headed to The Star Hotel. Wednesday night and the place was packed! It's traditional family-style seating at tables for eight, but we shared a table with just another couple so there was plenty of room. Even before we order our entrees, cabbage soup arrived at the table. The soup was excellent. Of the other sides, we liked the salad (crunchy lettuce with creamy ranch-like dressing), the Basque beans (super flavorful), and the french bread. Green beans and fries were fine. The spaghetti, meh. Filet mignon was under-cooked for the order (server comped us a beer when it was pointed out to her). The fried Mountain Trout was very good. House wine as average as expected. We had a great time and would definitely recommend.

The name listed here can be confusing. I've seen it listed as The Star Hotel Basque Dining to make it clearer it is a restaurant. Which it is. Not a hotel. My wife and I went for dinner and sat in a high-top table close to the bar. See... the way it works for dinner is that you pick your entree and then get cabbage soup, salad, and a few sides to share. The entree was excellent. Their house drink was great. Dessert was big and tasty. The sides were just ok. Friendly service. We got live music come in at 6:00! The place was packed when we were there.

Pork chops - there were two of these!

Looking for a hearty Basque feast? This place delivers. We had the garlic steak and pork chops - massive portions with green beans, Basque beans, spaghetti, fries, salad, and really good cabbage soup. The Picon Punch is not for the faint of heart, you will want to let the ice melt a bit unless you want some serious kick. This gem in the heart of Elko is a must-try.

Everyone was raving about how amazing the food is at the Star Hotel. I was rather disappointed. If you love restaurants that serve large quantities of food then you will love this place. Your meal comes with cabbage soup, salad, green beans, spaghetti, beans, and french fries as a side. It's served family style where you share. All of the tables are long so you could end up sitting next to someone else. I ordered the steak sandwich and thought it didn't have a lot of flavor. There is very few parking out front so we had to park a couple blocks away. It's right next to a few brothels which might make parking awkward if you're with kids. The Basque style dining served in a family setting was a fun experience, but not something I would do again.

As always... delicious food and fantastic service...the guys and I enjoyed. One ordered the T-bobe, another ordered the steak sandwich and two of us had the Baked Lamb with a few Picon Punches. One day I'll figure out the secret behind this baked lamb...so fall off the bone delightful. Aloha and Mahalo much for another super visit.

The Star Hotel brings family style to a whole new level. Basque food in the desert, who could ask for anything more. They start you off with a welcoming tureen of cabbage soup, dense bread, and tasty, cold salad. When entrees come, they bring you additional sides: chickpeas, baked beans, fries, spaghetti with meat sauce, and green beans, which they should banish from the menu. The petite lamb chops were anything but-- 16 oz cooked to medium perfection and spiced just right with a heaping helping of roasted garlic on top. You don't need desert, but can't go wrong with a piece of cheesecake. I saw enormous lobster tails pass my table and crab legs as well. Impossible to leave here hungry. Also have beer wine and cocktails. Eating here made my long drive through the desert a bit more palatable. Don't miss this place. It is special.

Next our server gave us a warm welcome and helped make decisions that involved a food sensitivity. And I haven't even got to the yummy food yet. My husband had the smaller of the two complete American breakfasts offered and it was quite a generous portion. A highlight was the sausage patties. I chose the half and half Benedict which was perfect because I couldn't decide between the two. I selected that one while still looking at the yelp app in my hotel room and it did not disappoint! Each half was huge. And the presentation was beautiful too. Wish I'd taken a picture! A specialty of Dreez' is the chili infused hash browns. They were great and full of flavor and had a delightful mouth feel. A bit of light crispy and just enough creaminess from the cheese and cream in them for balance. Though our super sweet and friendly server did tastefully warn against having them four days in a row for comfort sake, they were not overly spicy. Great flavors! I ordered their Greek Goddess omelet, which traditionally comes with sausage, but I subbed in shrimp instead and WOW this is my new favorite omelet! The combination of the feta, sundried tomatoes, and pesto delivered a lot zest and flavor in each bite. Please keep this item on the menu forever! I opted for a side of the country potatoes with my omelet, and was disappointed when they came out covered in bacon and cheese, as nowhere on the menu did it say they came with bacon and cheese. Just a small inconvenience, and it won't change the fact that this is our new go-to breakfast spot when we pass through again in the future.

I've stopped here before and I do like the food they have at the Grill coffee shop inside the casino. We get seated and drink orders taken. You know I do notice a sandwich on the menu I never had before. It's the Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Usually I'd think grilled cheese was a boring sandwich you order for kids or something. But I saw it had bacon and tomato in it. You do have you choice of cheese (besides American) and choice of bread. I got it on sourdough and cheddar cheese along with onion rings ($2.00 extra). I couple of my crew got the same but with fries. The other girl on the crew got the Cali Omelet. Our food arrives and I'm surprised at the heft of the grilled cheese on sourdough. I bite in and wow, this is pretty damn tasty! It's not what I expected at all, better! The other guys liked it too and said they'd get this sandwich again. OK, I was impressed with this new grilled cheese and I think they have it at all the other Gold Dust west locations in Reno and Carson City. Portion sizes for his sides, however, were generous and satisfying. I went with the penne alla vodka but received penne with marinara instead. While the garlic bread was decent, I missed the creamy, robust vodka sauce that was promised. - Service: A little on the slow side, though staff were polite once they arrived at the table. May 2026 Elko, N…read more Hmmmmm . . . 3.0 stars. Here is why. Arrived a little after 5 pm on a Friday. Two tables were already sitting. The hostess sat us in a separate room from the main dining room. It was hit brightly by the sun and felt like a second thought of leftover dining. Asked if we could sit in main dining room and she obliged. We asked about the menu and took time to review it. After some time we ordered. My husband had the chicken Alfredo and I ordered the PASTA MILANO which is described as: Chicken, Tomatoes, Mushrooms in a Roasted Garlic Cream Sauce over Penne Pasta. Sounds good right? It could have been good. But it was not. First of all, I never got chicken in the dish. The mushrooms were diced and very few in the dish. The only thing they got right was the tomatoes. I called the waitress over and told her that my dish had no chicken in it. She said well do you want some? I smiled and said well that's what the dish was supposed to come with. So I waited. Then I decided to go ahead and start eating my food because seven minutes went by and I still have no chicken. When the dish was originally served,, I asked the waitress for Parmesan cheese. She said we don't have Parmesan cheese, but we have black pepper. Huh???? of course you have Parmesan cheese. I have it on my Caesar salad. I really don't think she knew what Parmesan cheese was. I just shrugged my shoulders and took a bite of my food. Again, great concept. But the food had NO flavor. I added salt and pepper. Still nothing. I took the balsamic vinegar that was on the table and added it to the dish. There, I finally had flavor in my meal. But still no chicken. Finally, another waitress brings out a plate of squiggly worm like meat. She said, did somebody order chicken at this table? I was disgusted. First of all, it was not pleasant to see it look like that. Also, you should've offered to remake my meal, or at least take it back and mix it with the chicken. But to make me wait until my dishes is half gone and then bring over a plate of chicken is a poor decision. The chicken fettuccine had a good flavor. But the chicken was tough. Hard to chew. Not good flavor. I ordered a n/a Heineken. She brought it in a glass to the table. It was already poured so I don't know if I truly got what I ordered. Also the glass was too large for the amount of beer that was in it. Makes it look like it was half a drink. The waitress was kind, but we did not see much of her. She never offered to refill our bread basket. According to the menu, you get two baskets of bread and then if you want more you have to pay. We only got one basket of bread and never offered anymore. I was looking forward to some good pasta, and this restaurant did not deliver. Very disappointed in the service, and most definitely the food. The waitress took five dollars off of our meal, but she never explained why she did it or why she decided to take that amount of money. She never apologized for my dish, not having any protein, she never apologized for any thing. Management needs to teach staff that they can take ownership of the situation. It is OK to say you are sorry that the chicken was not put in your dish. Let's see what we can do to make it right. That would have gone so far. Instead, it left my attitude about this place as tough as the chicken in the fettuccine was.
