a dining room with tables and chairs

Are staying at the Red Lion Inn on our way through to Colorado and had dinner here. So glad we did! The space is very nice with Aspen trees that made you feel as if you were dining in a high mountain grove, with lovely muted lights, linen, crystal, comfy booths and lots of space between tables. What stood out are the amazing photographs of horses and cowboys. Not my favorite genre, but the photos are amazing. It really added to the county-elegant vibe of the restaurant, fancy but not fussy. High end, but down to earth. Great balance. The service was very good, friendly but professional - it is what I consider great service in our casual way of life in Nevada. Fresh bread was provided right away. The wine list, while not extensive, had some very nice choices. We ordered a Ferri-Corano Merlot which was full bodied with hints of black cherry and spice. Our wine was brought right away and we were given time to enjoy before ordering. Out food was brought out in a timely manner. My Fillet and my husband's prime rib were cooked to order. My fillet was flavorful and tender but was just a tad dry. Staff were all wearing masks and distancing was in place. The space was not crowded and they have plenty of room in the restaurant to seat people comfortably. So solid 5 star covid rating. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would come back again even if we were not staying at the hotel. We

Love this restaurant. We try to stop here every time we pass through Elko. We have yet to have a bad experience here. The wait staff is so nice and friendly and prompt. Nothing better than a good waiter or waitress. Usually we get a cheeseburger with fries and some sort of pasta dish. A big plus is they serve Pepsi products. That goes far with my boyfriend, he's a huge Pepsi drinker. Last time we were there we were there for dinner. He got a cheeseburger with fries and I got the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. So good and had the right amount of garlic in it. They bring a bread basket too and it has this cheese dipping sauce that is so good and honey butter. There are two different types of bread they bring. Will definitely be back again!

They are a good place to go and have a drink and appetizers. They have a good ambiance in their bar. It seems that their specialty is prime rib and steak. They do offer a variety of other menu items, too. They have a wine list, and a cocktail of the day. I got the prime rib medium. It was a bit tough and not too much flavor. Definitely needed the au jou and horseradish. The bread didn't taste fresh and wasn't warm. The brussels sprouts were overcooked and over salted. I probably wouldn't come back again for dinner, unless they got a different chef. But having said that this is probably the closest thing to fine dining in Elko. It seems like they are trying to compare to a Flemings or Houstons. Which is a great idea, but the food isn't there. They should order bread from Donuts and more - at least that way they would have fresh bread. It's located in the Red Lion casino. They only take reservations for 6 or more and they open at 5 pm. I like the Aspen tree decor, and prefer to sit in the bar - they have plushy booths.

Really great experience! The ambiance is perfect for a date night/ special occasion. You're more secluded from the casino that you walk through to get there.... More so than the other dining options available. I ordered the chicken fettuccini which did the job of filling me up. He ordered a steak because we've heard such good things about their beef options. His first steak came out wrong, just cooked well done instead of the requested medium rare, BUT the mistake was fixed and it came out perfect the next time. Overall, the waitress we had was super sweet and we came in 40 minutes before closing so we couldn't of asked for anything more than what we received. This place is a little more $$ than the quality of food but I would recommend it to anyone who's hungry and out in the Elko area. Side note: there was a live performance going on next to the restaurant so we enjoyed some live jazz music which was a great addition to the night!

I come to Elko a couple of times a year for work and for the motorcycle rally and I have always stayed at the Red Lion. Aspens is a nice place to have a cocktail, some appetizers, and dinner. You can eat at the bar or sit in a comfortable couch and enjoy some peace away from the casino. The food is good and the service is spot on. The restaurant dining room is very nice and is a great place for that special occasion.

In reading reviews from others, one needs to know the style and intent of the place. People looking for sophisticated, fancy meal will be disappointed. People looking for a family style meal, with the warm and engaging people, with honest, real, good food, will be thrilled. We were there for a late lunch. Our server was extremely kind and explained the menu, process, and local favorites The Pico Punch had a touch of Vicks 44, but that's exactly what it should taste like. The quantities are huge. Cabbage soup broth was delicious. Italian bread would be better if warmed, but still good. The salad was robustly tossed and the dressing had a nice touch of garlic. The steak sandwich was tender and had an excellent marinade/flavor. Fries: very greasy and not their finest moment. We have family in Iowa and this all felt similar: Midwest friendliness, warmth, and good food. We were leaving at 445 and the line had grown to 20 for dinner! Appeared to be locals/regulars. As another noted, yes, there are brothels just down the street. Hey, it adds to the local charm!

I heard the food was pretty good here and a decent deal. I go in with one co worker whose driving me around Elko. It's not really too smokey in here, so that's a good thing, but it's not a crowded Saturday night either with all kinds of drinking and smoking at the slots going on. We get seated at a nice table and I go over the menu. They have a prime rib special here for $17.99 and it's available everyday from 11 am! Most of these casino restaurants that have prime rib, only have that on Fri and Sat after like 4 pm. I passed this time, but what I did see was the Chicken Fried Steak! It's supposed to be a 10 oz. beef patty, breaded and deep fried served with country gravy, hashbrowns and toast, and then even THREE eggs, for just $13, that's a deal. In the Bay Area where I was just working, they don't even serve Chicken Fried Steak ..... it's like truck driver food I guess. My friend had this Cali Omelet ... yeah it was sort of breakfast time for us. That was the more healthy option with veggies and no meat, just the opposite of what I ordered! The food came out in short time and look fab! I ordered my Chicken Fried Steak on a separate plat with gravy on the side, so I didn't get gravy all mushed up with my eggs and potatoes. Holy moly, that was a lot of food! Super tasty, I just ate half and took the rest to go, gave it to my friend since I flying back out soon and I don't think the airline would appreciate me bring Chicken fried steak on the plane to eat! The omelet looked better than I thought it was gonna for the price. Tons of avocado on top and fluffy hashbrowns! 5 stars for the food here!

Once seated, our experience was a mix of highs and "almosts." - Appetizer: We started with the fried pickles -- crisp, flavorful, and addictive -- though a seasoned dipping sauce would have taken them to the next level. - Entrées: Antonio ordered the prime rib, advertised at 12 oz, but it appeared a bit smaller than expected. Portion sizes for his sides, however, were generous and satisfying. I went with the penne alla vodka but received penne with marinara instead. While the garlic bread was decent, I missed the creamy, robust vodka sauce that was promised. - Service: A little on the slow side, though staff were polite once they arrived at the table. Overall, the food was decent, but not quite on target. We're planning to give them another try for breakfast -- here's hoping that meal hits closer to the mark.
