Elko, NV May 2026 We entered the restaurant and the hostess told us to seat ourselves. It is a very uninviting dining room. Concrete floors and about 15 tables. There are many framed pictures along the wall, and some baskets hung as well. The restaurant and bathroom are exceptionally clean. The waitress is very kind and full of personality. Told her I had some food allergies and she seemed to know the menu very well and told me what to stay clear of. I ordered the SHISH TAWOOK and my husband ordered the chicken rolls. After 15 minutes, they came back to the table to tell us that they were out of chicken rolls. So he ordered the same thing as me. The food came out on a wooden board similar to a charcuterie board. There were six small pieces of chicken, and the sides of hummus, rice, and tabbouleh . I ordered a side of pita as well. The chicken was flavored perfectly. However, the chicken was overcooked and dry. The rest of the plate was delicious. The pita was very good as well. We both really enjoyed this meal. We were really looking forward to a great meal here given all the great reviews. Unfortunately I don't have anything to compliment at all. The Dolmas was hard and relatively flavorless. The pita bread that's supposed to be fresh daily tasted as if it was 2 days old and cost us two dollars each. Everything you see on this plate was dry. The chicken was dry. The hummus was dry. The rice was practically unedible it was so dry. The tabouleh was OK, but the parsley was overpowering. We asked for some olive oil to make it a little easier to eat and was able to get that for $.50 extra. It took a really long time tonight for some reason to come out of the kitchen. We can forgive the lack of ambience, but we are just so bummed about the food. We didn't even eat it all. We couldn't. We were on a road trip and hungry for lunch. Not a ton of choices, so we were excited to find something that wasn't fast food - and especially glad to find Mediterranean. We wish we were more impressed. The food was unfortunately "meh". The falafel was dry, and the beef and lamb shawarma sandwiches had an odd flavor that neither of the meat eaters enjoyed enough to finish. No no and no. I came here because of the ratings but obviously since it's like the only restaurant of its kind in these neck of the woods, people who are local are gonna love it. But people like myself who are from big cities with world renowned restaurants are not going to like this place. The shawarma was absolutely not edible. Tough as nails meat, to where I couldn't even bite it! I tried 2 bites and spit out both. Just not edible. The chicken skewers are not skewered and are over seasoned and that rice was not it! Soggy, wet, yucky rice. The hummus was thick and dry and some yogurt salad they had was watery and just yuck. Server took forever to check on us to the point where my friend was almost done eating. So I didn't order anything else....but I'm glad I didn't. 2 outa 2 not so good at all meals...I wasn't going for a third! They are made with spices that come from the Middle East. This dish is also served with four sides: hummus, tabbouleh, rice, and fries. The meat is very tender and so flavorful!! They have 2 types of baklava, walnut and pistachio. I had the pistachio, to go as my meal filled me up, and it was one of the best baklava I've had. I am a huge fan of Mediterranean food. I wanted to try a little of a lot of different things so I ordered the Vegetarian Combo and added a side of chicken. Every single thing was exceptional. The hummus was rich and smooth, the baba ghanoush was perfectly smoky and possibly my favorite. The falafel was hot, fresh, and crispy and perfectly seasoned. The service was very friendly and prompt. The place was spotlessly clean. I see why this restaurant gets such high reviews. It deserves them. Nothing screams awesomeness when thinking of how great the food tasted last time and being excited to come back and try everything all over again! I had went with a coworker for lunch and this was the name of the place she recommended to me the last visit. We sat as there was plenty of seating. Our waitress was very kind and friendly. The food took a bit to come out and my coworker was getting anxious. I ordered the exact same as my last visit, a Mediterranean salad add chicken and an appetizer of pita and hummus. The portions were enormous (enough for two meals). My only gripe was that it was rushed. So I know this is more of a leisure dinner spot. The waitress was great in terms of explaining why it took a bit and very helpful in helping us set up with leftover containers. We even grabbed desserts. We took food out to go while staying overnight in town on a road trip between San Francisco and Idaho. - Falafel: Wow! Seriously, some of the best we've ever had. The outside was extra crispy, and the inside was moist and flavorful. - hummus: The Zohar would be proud! It was freshly made, very thick and had a bright lemon and garlic flavor. - Koftah: Excellent flavor, if a bit overcooked and dry. Loved the tabouleh and saffron rice served with it. - service: a bit slow, but the ladies that handled the front were very friendly and courteous. - atmosphere: It's a somewhat stark inside, but that enables you to focus on your friends and the food. There is a full bar in the restaurant, but we had ordered to go. - Bread: First time I've had Mediterranean where it didn't include the pita. We ordered two plater dinners, but we didn't realize bread was a La carte. Bummer. Overall, I'm going to stretch here and say it's the freshest and healthiest option in Elko. read more

My family and I were traveling from Reno to Utah, and stayed the night in Elko. I was looking on yelp for a restaurant, and this popped up as the top rated place, so I was really excited that it was Mediterranean, which I did not have on my radar in the middle of Nevada. The place is very clean, and decorated super cute! There was only one server for the place, but she did a great job keeping up with all the tables. My husband ordered a chicken shawarma pita, my son got the hamburger, and I got the Shish Tawook (chicken with rice, hummus, and tabbouleh). We also got a few pitas on the side (highly recommend). The burger and fries were good, but although they said it was served plain- there was some sort of mayo or sauce on it, so we just tried to scrape as much as we could off. Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Both were flavorful and fresh! We will definitely be back here the next time we're in the area! read more

My husband and I have been here several times and it is pretty consistent. Small dining room and everything is made fresh to order. I always order the Arabic mint iced tea which is so refreshing. I ordered Chicken Shawarma and Banagnoush for lunch with a mint tea. The Chicken Shawarma was ok. I am sure everyone cooks Chicken Shawarma differently. The way I have gotten it in Abu Dhabi, UAE and around that area of the Middle East (Vs Lebanon) is the pita is filled with Chicken, a pickle spear, tzatziki sauce and filled up with french fries. The first and most plentaful ingredient is chicken. That is how I was introduced to this deductable dish and what I so look forward to eating. This sandwich was good but less than 50% chicken, allot of veggies, and overabundance of tzatziki sauce. I added the French fries As I said to my taste it was ok. Hard to tell the chicken from the other ingredients. As I said I am sure it is cooked and prepared many ways. But with out a doubt a pita filled with 75% chicken, a pickle spear, a medium splattering of tzatziki sauce then filled up with fresh french fries is to die for. The Banagnoush was superb and the pitas were soft and fresh. Service was attentive and helpful. The ambience was traditional - Spartan and clean.
