Ok, I've eaten here probably 300x. So to say I've been a fan is appropriate. But... In recent years, quality of service, and MOST importantly, quality of food has declined. :( I'm not certain if there is a new chef, or if staffing changes are causing the issue, but here is my experience. Usually I dine in. A house speciality is 'Micky Mouse', large shrimp served in a spicy sauce with avocado, tomato, and onion. It's quite amazing. After several trips with a sub par dish, I sent one back to the kitchen. (It was cold, and the shrimp smelled expired!) Before I sent the dish back, I tucked a piece of cilantro from the salsa in one of the shrimp tails to be certain I was served fresh, well prepared food. Guess what? Yep! Same shrimp, reheated on the plate, probably in the microwave. Still rancid. :,( My take out orders have become equally dismal, and when I check the boxes before I leave (Due to YOUR prior mistakes) I am given looks of disgust. I have always, and will remain a 20% tipper. I have complained here ONCE. I'll be making my dishes at home now. La Fiesta, you broke my heart. PLEASE IMPROVE!!!! Dropped in today for lunch. My colleague and I were in town for business. The food was average Mexican fare, but by far the best food we had all week. At noon we were told it was too early for the horchata... it was still being made. That was a disappointment. I asked the server what sauce the enchiladas came with red or green and that apparently caused some confusion. I was told "enchilada sauce". I took that to mean the sauce was canned. The servers should still know whether the sauce is red or green. The food was decent. And service was good. Just little things to improve on that would make the experience better. The prices were decent for lunch as well. $10 for a lunch combo. read more

This Restaurant use to be THE BEST Mexican in Northern NV. After the death of the Owner it still has great food, but NOT the best service. I've been here 3x in the last month and all 3x the service was very poor. I got up to get more silverware and napkins. Pick up the pace is my suggestion to the staff! read more

This was a good find out there on the wide open interstate. Great Mexican food offering many authentic examples of the cuisine. Got in at the tail end of a busy night to a full, but happy group of guests. Large portions, good prices. Had a potent pitcher of margaritas for $16 split 3 ways was a helluva deal. Just because a place is a proverbial "hole in the wall" does not necessarily mean that it's a bad place to eat. As a matter of fact, excellent food can often be found in places that are not mainstream, small and authentic. La Fiesta, is not that. When we were there, the air conditioning was not operating, there were flies buzzing around the food that had been left too long on an unbussed table. A few of the walls are basically unfinished sheet rock. The food itself was not fresh, i.e. typical Cysco-provided, canned and frozen ingredients. You could probably find better food at McDonald's. To top it off, the staff was rude. I realize that Elko is not exactly a mecca of fine dining, but there has to be a certain standard that you demand from a restaurant. read more

I sincerely don't understand how this place only has 3 stars. Maybe because nobody has tried the Carne Asada? It was love at first bite. A truly enjoyable experience from beginning to end. I was actually sad when I ate all of the meat because there wasn't more to enjoy. And they give a lot of meat. I don't consider myself a carnivore but this carne would make me think twice. I'm like Sally from "When Harry Met Sally" when I order but I ordered this just the way it came and I'm completely obsessed. Get the carne, get the carne, GET THE CARNE. We were also just passing through, and staying the night in Elko. I had a chicken chimichanga, and my fiancé has chili relleño. Both were great. Service was friendly and prompt. La Fiesta is "hit and miss" lately. The food is usually pretty good, but the service is often mediocre. An acknowledgement that you are present in their restaurant would be nice. After being seated, you shouldn't have to wait 15 minutes for your drink order or to even be noticed at a table. There are a few waiters, though who are very attentive. We would like to be seated in their areas every time. :) Of course we will go back, because it is a decent local place, and if you want a decent margarita that isn't from a slushy machine, this is the place to go. read more

Food is decent, but the place is very much understaffed. They weren't even very busy on a Tuesday night, and it took 5 min to get someone to acknowledge me and offer to seat me. Another 10-15 min for someone to take my order (although I had some tasty chips and salsa to munch on). Another 15-20 min to receive my order (and I was alone). I had the daily special which were the 3 enchiladas. Turns out the special simply means they discount the price of the combination plate by $0.50 (not much of a special). Shredded beef enchiladas were large and contained lots of meat. Not a ton of flavor, but the meat was good non-fatty shredded beef. The rice and beans were better than average. Price is about what you would expect ($8.75 after discount). I have eaten at Dos Amigos on the other side of town, and I prefer it to La Fiesta. Much better service, and tastier food. read more

Worst Mexican food ever!! Terrible service Please take your money elsewhere. I ordered chicken chalupa and a chile rellno combo, the rellno is completely cheese, I love cheese but this rellno literally made me choke on cheese. This chicken had zero seasoning, and was dry; terrible taste. The chips are served ice cold. It took my waiter 15 to get a ice water. I went here on a Monday night!! As a Latino I am use too mothers cooking so it's hard to find a good place. I noticed as I drove into town this had a nice Latino vibe... Well let's say I'll rather have Taco Bell then eat here again. The chile relleno had mozzarella cheese instead of Mexican queso. The chicken burrito was flour tortilla filled with shredded enchilada juicy chicken nothing else(which made it really soggy). The service was good the busboy was amazing but the food was very low quality. I ordered for pickup and like many restaurants they couldn't seem to get a simple order right. My food was dry and they forgot to add condiments that I paid extra for. Without these condiments my meal was barely edible. Thanks guys! I hate getting all the way home only to find out the restaurant just couldn't get it right. Because of how the food was wrapped up for the pick up order it was impossible to check my order before leaving the restaurant so I had to put my trust in the staff....never again. read more

After hiking in Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains, we went to Elko and stopped at some traditional American restaurants, but told them that we wanted Mexican food, and they sent us here. What a gem off the main drag in Elko! I had the pollo asada and Susan had a seafood dish and they were both excellent! We also had a mango margarita to wash it all down. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. The cabbage salsa is delicious. read more

Let me just start off with 5 stars, isn't enough for this place! I'm originally from Arizona, amazing Mexican food there. Green chilé, Red Chile, you name it. Amazing food. I moved to Pennsylvania in Nov. of 2016 and I still live there, no good Mexican food what so ever! I come here to Elko for work, have gone 9 months with out Mexican food. This place is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Not bad for Mexican food in the middle of Nevada. The rice was excellent and I forget the name of what what we got, but it was also tasty. It was kind of like fajitas, but not served on the hot skillet. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I'm not a beans person, but mom said they were also quite tasty. Although the food may be "authentic" to some, the taste was off in several items. The chips were stale, unsalted, and tasted like old grease. The salsa was not fresh and was practically all juice. The cabbage they serve along with it was relatively good, but different. I ordered chicken/steak fajitas and was surprised to taste maybe soap? Or chemicals from the washed vegetables? I'm not sure, but it was disgusting. The meat came out burnt, and being on a hot plate they only got worse. All the sides that go along with it (beans, rice, guac, etc.) were all flavorless. If I had wanted to eat anymore after the nasty fajita vegetables, I would have had to salt, pepper, and pray to get any decent flavor out of this meal. Now, my wife ordered Chile rellenos and they were delicious! I lot more cheese than what I'm used to, but still very tasty! The manager did remove the fajitas from our ticket, so I guess that was okay? We just wanted them to know there was something wrong with it, not a discount. Overall- food was about a 3, service a 2 as the server completely forgot to take our order and had walked by multiple times asking if everything was okay, price was decent, atmosphere a 1 due to the freezing air conditioning blowing right on us the entire meal. Super easy stop with 5 road weary kids who are starving. The food comes out fast and the portions are giant for the kids menu. So glad we stopped here. The only complaint my kids had? there was no salt on the chips. Ha! They don't need anymore salt after all the snacks in the car. In my opinion, La Fiesta ranks 2nd to Sergios. La Fiesta is a very good restaurant, family owned and operated. Good food,it keeps people full with their burritos and tacos, they have better refried beans than Sergios. But what Sergios has is quality care for customers that La Fiesta doesn't. It is a serve yourself salsa bar and soda bar, which is fine but there are days and nights when you feel like you don't have the energy to get up and do anything. I have to say that I am a huge Mexican food lover, but this was not good at all. I was unimpressed starting with the chips that were stale and not so good. The salsa was okay, but I hoped it would get better. I ordered a taco and a cheese enchilada which of course also comes with rice and beans. The first thing I noticed was that there was so much lettuce it took forever to get to any food. I ordered shredded beef and it was dry and not so good. The taco shell was soggy and the beans, rice and enchiladas were cold. I cannot remember the last time I did not eat all or at least most of my dinner at a Mexican food restaurant, but I could not do it. When I went to pay I shared my issues, but was very clearly ignored and all that was said was sorry to hear that and please give us another chance. I am very sad because I heard such great things about this place. I will most likely not be giving them another chance. Sorry. read more
