Best Mexican food in town. Hits the cravings right on the spot. Shrimp tacos are amazing, fish tacos were Yum! If you like legit Mexican food you should go here. We pass through and stay in Elko periodically as we travel between CA and MT. We tried Rigobertos for (take out) dinner this week after a very long day of driving. Pleasantly surprised that we all enjoyed our meals and it was a welcome change from typical road travel food. Chicken tacos, vegetarian burrito, rice and beans were a bit bland but not greasy and tasty, esp with the yummy green salsa! Will try it again on a future trip! read more

We were stopping for the night in Elko on our road trip. I didn't have any expectations about dinner and was pleasantly surprised! Everything we ordered was flavorful and prepared well. We are from Southern California and eat Mexican food all the time and this was great. We both remarked we wished this was by our house and we'd eat there all the time. Passing through Elko? Rigoberto's is the best Mexican food in town. Try the street tacos or Wet Red/Green shredded beef burrito with cheese melted on top. Had the pozole today. Very good flavor!!!! Called ahead to order for pick-up. It wasn't a straightforward process, so I'm not sure they've had much experience with this yet. The employee didn't ask my name for the order, tell me the total amount, or give me an exact pick-up time. There was some confusion about whether rice & beans were included with the meal, so my husband accidentally ended up ordering a side of extra rice and beans (which was fine). The cheese enchilada that I ordered was rubbery and the lettuce on top was wilted. The side of rice and beans was average-tasting. But my husband's order of the bean & cheese burrito was actually quite good. Overall, my experience here was just okay--I'd probably go somewhere else first before trying here again. read more

Small business, pretty close to authentic Mexican food. Second time here, so far tried the menudo twice, it doesn't have any hominy, first time was good and second time seemed to be watered down. I wish they served hand made corn tortillas or yellow, since both times they have been out of bread. Definitely pass on this place. I was jonesing for some good Mexican food, something that I haven't found in Elko yet. I had heard about this place at work. My wife and I went in on a Sunday. It's a casual place. You order and seat yourself. On our visit there was nowhere to sit. Not because they were overly busy, but because the table that weren't occupied hadn't been cleared yet. There were multiple tables that had dirty dishes on them. So we stood around for a few minutes after we ordered, hoping that a busser would clear some tables. Nope. We had to bus a table ourselves! I figured that it may be worth it, considering the hype that I had heard about the food, but the food itself was subpar at best. I ate there two days ago, and liked it enough to come back again the next day. Yesterday's chile verde was different from a lot of the chile verde I've had - very thick sauce with well-balance flavor, and lots of meat. I hesitate to order chile verde 'cause so many places don't make it well, but no problems with this one.... This place was recommended by the hotel staff. It's new, they had eaten here once and thought it was great. I beg to differ. Ok, adequate or fair would be a more apt description in my not always so humble opinion. I got the carnitas platter to eat and horchata to drink. The carnitas were dry, clumpy and lacked any seasoning. In fact everything on the plate, refried beans,rice, all had the same over cooked tasteless flavor. The drink I tried because it is a local favorite. Not sure what it is but it was a sweet cinnamon like milky water. Not sure I liked it but it had flavor. The free chips and salsa were self serve but nothing to put chips in. Plus, chips served in a bus boy dish bin isn't appetizing. I had a few and yep, cold and tasteless. The price is good. The portion size is good. I'd try it again earlier to see if it's better but I can't give a real positive recommendation. read more

The food here isn't bad, and in fact the place seems to have a really loyal following with the locals. It's just kind of the place you go if you want to get food in your face quickly and don't care about the environment or what you're eating on. I'll give him four stars and if they updated the interior and used real forks and silverware they might get a higher score. This is probably the best Mexican restaurant in Elko. I'm from the San Francisco Bay area and have many varieties of Latin food in which to choose. Bottom line, the prices are right and this is the place you can just get your food with no-frills and get back on the road. Today I had the Carnitas plate. Carnitas were very well cooked actually with a crispy skin texture. The salsa was also satisfying but not too spicy. This is the same location and same authentic Mexican food that I raved about when it was Sergio's Restaurant. They've moved the wall of picture menu off to the side and freshened the place up, but the new owners have kept the same great quality. We had the Chorizo plate and a burrito/enchilada dinner, both of which were served piping hot and came with chips and salsa. After a great days hike in the La Moille Canyon we were in the mood for Mexican food. The service was indifferent (you order from the counter) the prices relatively high, the complimentary tortilla chips were cold, the salsa thin, the meat seemed old and stringy and they had NO Margaritas! Rigoberto's is our go to for burritos and tacos. Unfortunately our last experience wasn't what we were used to, meat in our tacos was way below acceptable temperature and after one bite the stale shell the flavor was unbearable. When I brought the food back I was met with hesitance even when I was the one being apologetic, after the food was being remade there was lots of banging and yelling from the kitchen, after waiting an addition 15 mins for my order to be returned, I opened it and was asked to examine, the food looked like it had been thrown in there aggressively. I did not want to take the chance on having it made a 3rd time. When I opened my tacos my guacamole did not make it to its home inside the tacos instead it was thrown all over the shells and the container, my girlfriends tacos were pinched shut and finger marks through the shells. Not sure what happened that day to the cook. Again this is not our normal experience and I hate for this to be the reason I have to write on here but I honestly felt like I did something wrong and offended the cook by just wanting the delicious Rigoberto's food we were used to getting. read more

I had 3 tacos and they were very good. The tortilla chips were good too, thin, crispy, and lightly salted. The salsa could've been more spicy and it was a little bit bland but it was still good but it could use a little more salt. I would definitely eat there again. Also, the girl working there was very courteous and attentive and she cleaned and bussed a table promptly when the other guests left. read more
