For four egg rolls and some beef chow mein I was charged $30 which kind of seems a little atrocious

We're driving through I-80 and stopped here to get food for dinner. We got 5 orders to go and when we get to our destination to eat there was no utensils inside the bag. I called them to ask how come we didn't get a forks or spoons and this lady told me that "she does not put forks or spoons unless the customer asks"! How are we supposed to eat?! Always put utensils in the bag lady! Paid almost $70 for our food with tip and we can't even eat our food cause we don't have no utensils! Ended up buying utensils from gas station so we can eat. The food wasn't even that good and does not look good and too expensive for a fried rice, one burnt spring roll and a little meat. We should have never stopped at this place! read more

Great food, however, the sesame chicken I was confused looked more like orange chicken with sesame seeds on top. I'm used to sesame chicken being a breast with sauce and sesame noodles. Otherwise, I love the food here. Potsickers are good. I just wish they didn't look like mini postickers. Hot Tea is a good drink to order here when you dine in. I do wish they had Shrimp Sizzling Rice Soup not seafood Sizzling Rice Soup as I'm not a fan of crab in my soup. Service is great. Everyone is so helpful and spot on. I do wish they did better at bringing everything to the table at once, especially when dining with others. Lunch combination is the way to go a great amount of food for the price. My only main complaint is that the restaurant is fithly when you look at the ventilation system they need to be cleaned very dusty could cause a fire and the restaurant is cold read more

I thought Elko was the smallest town I've ever visited in the US when I first stepped off the plane and exited the tiny airport building. I stayed in Elko for 2 nights but my work assignment actually took place in Carlin, which seemed like a ghost town upon my arrival. There were literally 3 or 4 restaurants in this town, and surprisingly one of them was Chinese. The only day it snowed in Carlin/Elko wasn't my arrival day or departure day, but the one day I had to spend outdoors counting inventory. Coming from the tropical humid weather of Houston, I did not enjoy this snow that wasn't even enough for me to build a snowman. So to warm ourselves up, the team unanimously chose the Chinese restaurant in hopes of finding some hot soup to rejuvenate our frozen souls. TBH I had my doubts regarding the authenticity of this "Chinese" restaurant, given diversity was basically non-existent in Elko/Carlin. But lo and behold the owner was actually a Chinese lady, and my faith was immediately restored. A lot of Americanized dishes like Mongolian Beef and General Tso's Chicken on the menu (surprise surprise), but fortunately there was a wonton soup available. I went with the "War" version since I was pretty hungry. The War Wonton Soup had about 50 ingredients which made it a bit weird. Never had celery, cabbage, snow peas, shrimp, and chicken with my wontons before lol. But the soup was hot and flavorful, and the wontons were pretty genuine. #269 read more

Like many others don't judge a book by the cover. I've lived in San Francisco and this place is better than 90% of Chinese restaurants there. It was the perfect spot on our road trip across America. The owner was hilarious and the locals were so nice. We had the Szechuan Beef, Kung Paso Chicken and House Fried Rice. The highlight was the BBQ Pork. Might be the best I've ever had. Stumbled in to Chins this afternoon looking for a quick meal. From the outside this place is certainly nothing to look at and if not for the open sign I would have turned and headed back up the hill. Upon entering I see a large dining room and a sign advising to seat myself, so I did. Sat in excess of 10 minutes waiting to see a sign of life from any staff. However when she finally came out I immediately liked her with her snippy attitude and straight forward approach. The menus were presented and a drink order demanded, wish I lived closer I would be a regular customer. She brought our drinks back quickly and demanded our food order. It was given Szechuan Beef, Curry Beef and a bowl of Hot and Sour soup. The soup comes out and thankfully I'm not eating alone the bowl is ginormous the soup is very flavorful actually some of the best I've have ever had. Our plates come out and they look amazing the rims of the plates are clean the food was not just slipped on to the plate. I'm still enjoying a third cup of soup, someone please bring a wheelbarrow to get me back up the hill. The vegetables are crisp the broccoli not over cooked the beef is so tender. The curry in my dish is liberally applied the aroma is calling to my soul. I must add that the portion is huge and definitely a great value for the money. Did I mention how good this soup is I'm working on bowl number 4. The server comes by occasionally to check and see if I'm in a coma yet this is really great food she brings to go boxes. Have she no faith I've come to eat the soup bowl is now empty as I start cup number 5 the tea is hot and strong just the way it should be and the go box isn't needed really a great meal. In closing it is often said " Never judge a book by its cover" that is certainly true here. Good location just a short walk down the hill from the truck stop. I'm not even sure how this place survived the pandemic ‍ I thought I had the worst Chinese food on the planet about 30 years ago. Nope! We left after several bites of food. I have never done that before or since and I travel extensively. For some reason completely unbeknownst to me Yelpers in central Nevada apparently have no ability to actually taste their food. Buyer beware. McDonald's is your safest bet across I-80 snd I'm not particularly a fan of fast food. read more

Wow what a nice surprise! My husband and I were on our way to a dance weekend this past September and we passed through Carlin. The restaurant is nice and clean. I ordered the shrimp chow mein and paid an extra dollar for the pan fried noodles. So good, and it really tasted like authentic Chinese food. We are both chefs and we appreciate good ethnic cuisine. While we were waiting, I started looking around and saw all of these beautiful paintings. I treated it like a gallery and walked around and enjoyed each one. I noticed the same name signed on all of them, although they were different styles. It turns out that the owner painted them and she is such a humble woman. The people of Carlin are so lucky to have her there, I am glad I got a chance to enjoy such a great place! read more

Great Chinese food! Thank you, Yelp, for helping us find this place. Friendly service. Varied menu. Reasonable prices. I had the special chow mein with shrimp beef pork and chicken. Delicious! Bob had curried beef. Yummy with stir fried green peppers and onions. We shared. It made a great combination plate. We were served in a timely fashion with hot tea and a pitcher of ice water. Bob had a glass of Merlot for $2 !! We'll definitely stop here again on our way to/from CA/MT. read more

This such a good place! My husband and I were passing through and wanted some Chinese food. We both had the chicken chow mein. It was sooo good! I could tell the veggies were fresh and it wasn't salty or with sauces...which I like because them I can add how much salt I want. Great place! read more

First of all everyone is really unfriendly in here. I sit at a table and the no smile waitress says sit over here because that table isn't made up. So. Go get a knife and a fork for Christs sake. Then the owner waitress comes over after ignoring me for a while and it's like she's pissed off to take my order. "No special order" she barks a me. Oh my God, she is just begging for a Yelp review. I ran out to my car to get my phone, and it was -7 out. The won ton soup smelled and looked like dirty toilet water but tasted ok. It was obviously everything that they haven't sold that week ended up in the soup When the owner serve the soup she had a bit of a smile. But my son remarked that she looked like Kim Jon Il from Team America. The shrimp chow mein shrimp were tiny popcorn shrimp. If you like being abused by a waitress this is the spot. I had the D4 Pepper Steak combo and I really enjoyed it. So often Chinese is very greasy but this place was very flavorful and light. The egg flower soup was a bit heavier than I'm used to but not bad. I requested a sweet wine to have with dinner and a plum wine was suggested, it was fantastic and I definately recommend you try it. The service was friendly, helpful and attentive. I will stop in again when I'm in town. read more

We love this place! A small mom and pop Chinese restaurant that's been a local favorite for nearly 20 years. The food is always prepared fresh and the flavors are out of this world. Had I not been drug in by my now wife I would never had stopped. Chin's Cafe is now one of our weekly haunts. Pot stickers or egg rolls are always a must and my favorite entrees are Mongolian Beef, Mushu Shrimp and House Fried Rice. Really though I have never had a bad meal. Want something special? Excellent food! Excellent price! Excellent service! Building and decorations look a little old but the food makes up for it all. I recommend pot stickers appetizer, Kung pao chicken, pepper beef. Terrible food... Ordered general chicken and orange chicken and both orders came out looking and tasting the same. Very bland and the chicken was so rubbery it tasted like it had been fried 2 days prior and then microwaved. read more
