The project was to be finished same day on Saturday, but then he said he would come back Sunday at 9am. Sunday at 8:45am he texts to say he can't make it (no explanation), so he reschedules for Monday at 1:30pm. Monday at 1:30pm he doesn't show, then we get a text at 1:40pm, & he ends up rescheduling for 5pm. 2) When he finally shows to finish the job, he brings his 2 boys w/him w/out even a heads-up. (Unprofessional & inconsiderate, in my opinion.) And he left black smudges & scratches on our newly painted kitchen cabinet doors. The bottom line is, we were just a small job for him, & therefore not a priority. I felt that acutely. I Yelped through handyman and came across Handyman Services. I was delighted that I saw Terry K.'s used him and was very impressed with Ryan's work. So I made the call to Handyman Services (Ryan/Owner) and explained what I wanted, an estimate on installation of two doors. To my amazement, he said that he would be in my area in the afternoon. Sure enough he came by and took the measurements and within a couple of hours texted me the estimate. Now that's the kind of service that everyone expects, but rarely receive from any type business. I won't say how much the estimate was for, but I found it reasonable and less than I anticipated the job to be. I scheduled the next open date which was the following week. Ryan came by as scheduled and quickly framed and installed two security screen doors with some modifications. He's quick and efficient, also takes pride in the quality of his work. He tore down an old closet and removed a door to give us a flat back wall for a new built-in, framed and drywalled around a lava rock wall so we could install an AC unit, and covered up a CMU wall to give it a clean, smooth look. He also helped with a few smaller fixes along the way without any fuss. He showed up on time, worked quickly, and paid close attention to the details. The work areas were kept tidy every day, and he explained what he was doing so we always knew the plan. What stood out most was how versatile and skilled he is--he handled framing, drywall, and finish work all in one go. He's easy to talk to, gives honest feedback, and genuinely wants the end result to look good. We're really happy with how everything turned out and will definitely be calling him again for future projects. Highly recommend.

Sometimes, it often took 1-4 days to receive a reply, particularly when I was following up about permit submission delays. Workmanship: Average. The completed work was acceptable, but nothing stood out as exceptional. Contract and Warranty: The company did not fully honor the terms of the signed contract. After the deposit was paid, and before work started 10 months later, Solid Masonry requested additional compensation due to increased material costs. While material prices may indeed have risen, much of the delay appeared to stem from their failure to submit the permit application promptly. They initially requested approximately 30% above the contract price, though we eventually negotiated a lower increase. Additionally, a newly repaired pipe was later found to have been bent during the backfilling process. Despite the damage resulting from their work, Solid Masonry still attempted to charge me for the excavation required to expose and repair the pipe. Trustworthiness and Follow-Through: I was charged for both excavation and plumbing work. However, on the day excavation began, no plumber was present. Solid Masonry described this as a miscommunication, and I ultimately had to hire my own plumber despite having already paid for plumbing services through them. Another mistake on my part was paying the final balance before the permit was officially closed. Once payment was received, the company appeared to move on to other projects and did not proactively follow up on permit closure. The permit remained open until I contacted them and repeatedly followed up. Architect: The architect associated with this company had a reputation for overpromising and procrastinating. This was not only my experience but was also echoed by inspectors I spoke with at HPP. After receiving my deposit, it took the architect approximately five months to submit the permit application. After the project was completed, the architect again failed to follow through on closing the permit. Multiple calls to both the architect and contractor were required before action was taken, and even then, it took another two weeks to finally close the permit. Overall: To their credit, the company ultimately completed the project, although it took nearly a year from the time we signed the contract to finish. Unfortunately, the process was far more stressful than it should have been. I found myself constantly having to follow up on issues that I reasonably expected the contractor to manage, including permit submissions, plumbing coordination, and permit closure. My recommendation to future customers is to withhold final payment until the permit has been officially closed. I was also disappointed that the company chose not to stand behind its work regarding the bent pipe and instead attempted to charge me for corrective excavation. My overall rating is influenced less by the quality of the workmanship and more by concerns regarding integrity, accountability, follow-through, and trustworthiness.

I called eight people and only five showed up. I really liked how Clayton helped me decide how to configure our kitchen. I wasn't really sure how. We also decided to have our bathroom remodeled. This whole crew was so amazing. We were still living in our house during the renovation and every time they left it was as if they had never been there meaning it was so clean. They had to demo the whole kitchen and when they left, there was no evidence of debris. Our kitchen turned out amazing, and the bathroom was exquisite.
