We pay a handy sum to Ben have our bench done but only after 3 months, it started to deteriorate. We tried to contact him multiple times to see what can be done but got no response. BTW, he even posted photos of our bench on Yelp without our knowledge or consent. The bench show further sign of wear and damage at 6 months. It is now almost 12 months later and it has deteriorated further. We now have to pay additional fee to hire someone to repair this. We again tried to contact Ben to see if what can be done and again, no response. Not recommend. read more

I called Ben to inquire about a door installation. I saw the great reviews on yelp so I was surprised at his attitude. He seemed very unfriendly and kept asking me questions about the door that I wasn't sure about. I ordered an entry door. I'm sure there are many variables but I felt like I was putting him out. BLS Carpentry put my children's playset together. They were quick to respond and professional. They even worked over the 4th of July weekend! It took two days to complete the playset, but it was well worth it. They also measured extra wood to place at the bottom of the playset to make sure it was even and stable. My girls couldn't wait to use it and were on the swing before BLS could clean up their tools! I was quoted a price far below what I thought I would pay. Wife burnt the laminate countertop at the sinkbase of our rental. We are moving out and working hard to get our deposit back. With less than a week to turn over the property I was hard pressed to find a way to repair the countertop. I called several handyman services and most said the entire countertop needs to be replaced. I called BLS, described the damages, emailed photos, and was surprised when Ben said he was confident that he can repair it. He did say it may not be perfect. He quoted a fee over the phone. I called in the morning to ask for a last minute AC removal. They were very understanding and were able to come out that night and remove the AC from the window without damaging the frame (previous tenants had glued it into the frame) and came back the next morning to install the new AC that I'd bought. I didn't get the guy's name but he was very polite and worked pretty quickly. The cost was reasonable as he had to cut through layers of rubber cement to get the old AC out and install the new one. What a gem of a find on Yelp! I was in need of a handyman for several repairs to my home. I emailed two but one was not taking new appointments till January. Ben from BLS Carpentry & Handyman Services contacted me by email right away and scheduled the estimate. After quoting me an estimate, he went in search of the materials he needed and called me back later that day to say that he had found the siding for my carport wall and could come the next day (Saturday) to do the job. He and another guy worked on the three repairs and I was so excited with their workmanship! The pictures show before and after. Ben and his partner were very professional and cleaned up after the job was done. Ben was also very courteous and contacted me when he was going to be a little late to the estimate appointment when his earlier project took additional time; and when he was at the hardware store picking up the supplies. Ben's workmanship is excellent! I hired Ben to reset all of the footings on my home, in addition to, replacing all of the posts and braces, to include formwork with concrete below grade. My home is situated on a slight slope and this was a fairly big project, but Ben completed it on time and his work is outstanding! He even added an additional footing with post and braces to make my home even more secure, and did not charge for it. Ben's pricing is also super reasonable. I had some work done by another company who did not complete the work and did a poor job. I had already paid them and they would not come back to complete the work. When I talked to Ben he said he didn't like to come in after someone else to finish up their work but he would come out to look at things. Called BLS Carpentry for an estimate on some drywall repair in my home. Ben came right away, he is a union carpenter in the trade for more than 20 years. He gave me a great estimate and got started immediately. I thought maybe the quality would be compromised with the great price he gave me, but nope! The work was quality and he stayed on budget. He even found a leak in my toilet that was causing a water stain on the other side of the wall that he fixed for less than what a plumber would have charged me. I called Ben when I needed the bottom of my undersink cabinet in the kitchen replaced because it had warped from water damage. I've had a few estimates done and Ben's price was pretty reasonable. I decided to go with Ben because he had a pretty darn good review here on yelp, plus he also happened to be available to do it the same day. He did a really nice job on replacing the particle board bottom of the undersink cabinet--he even cut out the pipe areas really nicely and fitted them back and caulked all the way around. I was really happy when it was done because it looked like it was brand new (5 stars there)! One problem: Upon my final inspection of the job, I noticed two of the wood screws came protruding out the other side of the kitchen island! When I pointed it out to Ben, he felt bad about it because he had thought there would be molding on the other side. So, he spent Sunday going to Home Depot to find a matching maple molding, stain it the right shade to match my island and on Monday, Ben shows up with the molding and did a quick install/caulk. He was apologetic of the situation and offered no additional cost for the molding and the labor. I took away a star because, overall, the job turned out a bit longer than I had anticipated . However, because Ben showed me that he will do the customer right in the end (plus, my kitchen island looks even better than it did before with the additional molding!), I maintain my 4-star rating for BLS Carpentry. read more

Hired Ben to install a mount in my ceiling. Quoted 320.00 which seems high, but ceiling beam was 13 feet up. Arrived on time, took about an hour. Would give another star, but mount is little off centered and paint on 2 lag bolts rubbed off when he used a electric drill to tighten bolts. read more
