I wanted to change my old outdated wooden screen door and called a few businesses that said they do screen doors. But did you know that it doesn't mean they all do security screen doors? Security screen type doors are a different animal. I knew that my doorway would require some wood framing because of it's unusual size so who better to do this type of job than a handyman. I Yelped through handyman and came across Handyman Services. I was delighted that I saw Terry K.'s used him and was very impressed with Ryan's work. So I made the call to Handyman Services (Ryan/Owner) and explained what I wanted, an estimate on installation of two doors. To my amazement, he said that he would be in my area in the afternoon. Sure enough he came by and took the measurements and within a couple of hours texted me the estimate. Now that's the kind of service that everyone expects, but rarely receive from any type business. I won't say how much the estimate was for, but I found it reasonable and less than I anticipated the job to be. I scheduled the next open date which was the following week. Ryan came by as scheduled and quickly framed and installed two security screen doors with some modifications. He's quick and efficient, also takes pride in the quality of his work. Will definitely use him for projects that I can't do around the house. read more

My review is more customer service based and is solely on my phone interaction. I called to see if they could repair my dryer ducts, which went through my bathroom walls. The man who answered was up front and honest in stating they could do the job, but they recommended we turn to an HVAC company to do the job instead. I don't often leave reviews, but I just wanted to show my appreciation for his integrity in assisting me and giving me his recommendation. read more

I don't know about you, but I'm always on the hunt for a good, reliable and trustworthy handyman who can help me on fixit things at my residence and my rental properties. Well, I need not look further as I think the person I found is a keeper. Here is my story: My condo was in dire need of new flooring. This go around, I elected to re-carpet the bedrooms and living room and use wood paneling for my hallways and kitchen. The carpets were done by my carpet installer and the wood flooring was handled by Handyman Services Hawaii. It was a seamless effort as Handyman Services did all the heavy work. He selected an assortment of patterns and colors for me to select from. Once I made my choice, he got the materials needed for installation including the coving, coordinated with my tenants and before I knew it, the job was done. I received a message from my tenant saying it was a terrific job and she was so very happy. A happy tenant makes for a happy landlord (or so I've learned). Last and of note; the rate for labor was simply a fair and great rate! I don't know if there was enough mark up on the materials which I should have asked, but then I was the lucky benefactor I guess for a great job completed at a great price! 77/100 Yelp Review Challenge Los Angeles read more

Not really sure where to begin. When I Initially contacted Ryan he let me know that he did not take every job but would absolutely point me in the right direction. Not only did he accept job he was true to his word in pointing me in the right direction for services that he was not contracted to complete. Ryan is extremely trustworthy! He agreed to work on our flooring project even though we had not yet arrived on island. He provided a very reasonable and detailed quote. Ryan sent updates almost daily. He notified me of issues/concerns as they arose. As for his work, good luck finding someone who can do a better job than Ryan on flooring. Our home looks amazing! He goes the extra mile to please his customers. read more

when i asked ryan to do modifications to my unit, the first thing he said was that his goal is that when he completes his work, i will feel like - "Yes - i am finally home". Simply put, ryan has exceeded all my expectations of what i had requested. at the same time my renovation was happening, there was a building pipe project and ryan completed my flooring in time for the plumbers to start their work. ryan did not nickel and dime me for fixing problems. my front door closer was slamming and my door frame was deteriorating. he pointed it out, fixed the problem and didn't charge me extra. please don't take advantage of his generous spirit. he just wanted me to feel at home which he certainly succeeded. i am so very thankful for the work that ryan did that i truly feel that i live in a home and not just someplace where i store my belongings read more

Ryan did the demolition work for our project singlehandedly and efficiently, first removing the old sink, kitchen cabinets and large built-in peninsula, then hauling away all the debris. When unexpected termite damage was discovered in one of the wood walls, he quickly repaired that section with drywall so painting could be completed with little delay. He is knowledgeable and experienced in many areas, a true "Handyman"! read more

Called to make an appointment, they were so rude and clueless. They said the don't service Kalihi even if your in a multi million dollar home!! Finally, he could only make an appointment 1 month from now. They claim they 15, 5 star reviews. I don't think so, not with that kind attitude! read more

We recently purchased a new home and love everything about it except the lack of storage - especially in the kitchen. Ryan was phenomenal in walking me through the process of identifying the cabinets I would need, ordering them and installing them. The whole process from initial consultation to installation was completed in one week! The result was a transformed kitchen space that is both beautiful and functional! Ryan's amazing attention to detail, professionalism, and incredible work ethic are three of many reasons why we highly recommend Handyman Services Hawaii. We are looking forward to working with Ryan again in the future. read more

Amazing!!!! Ryan is worth his weight in gold I had a disastrous experience with a company who was doing a renovation on my shower and had to fire them for very sub par work This was especially challenging as ryan had to fix what they screwed up Tear down and start from scratch Work was amazing: he is detailed oriented and takes pride in his work He installed a sophisticated mirror system with no directions and a box of loose screws ! He installed a high end vanity system I am so grateful It is especially refreshing that someone takes pride in their work He will always be the first call for further repairs Thank you so much ryan! read more

Poor service. Before you take a call for a potential client, you should inquire where they are located first if you don't service the whole island. Don't let them go through their entire list of questions then say oh sorry can't help you. Besides, Ewa isn't that far from Town! read more

Our home was burglarized on 1/25/2022. My purse and car were stolen. Ryan was kind enough to change our family room door through which the thief had broken in, the day of the break-in. He returned to also replace our front door which required ingenuity and great skill since our house is so old. Both doors look great--Ryan's workmanship is excellent. The best thing Ryan gave us was peace of mind, knowing our home is more secure now with solid doors. read more

Right as Covid was ramping up in Hawaii, I was tasked with rehabbing my very old Manoa house after family lived there for over 15 years. I called Ryan from the mainland (I live Cali) and we spoke about him installing laminate flooring. He agreed, but as we talked, I asked him about doing other projects for me. All in all, Ryan essentially became my handyman and project manager for essentially a complete home renovation. Ryan and his assistant/fiancee: -installed new laminate throughout -renovated 2 entire bathrooms, -repaired old doors and fixtures, -renovated the entire kitchen, cabinets, countertops and sink, -hired and supervised a painter for inside and out - who did a very great job quickly -a bunch of finish work - helped to install all my appliances. Without Ryan, I would have spend tens of thousands of dollars more on a contractor. Ryan never "upcharged"me on any of the supplies that he bought. Most of the time he was able to buy supplies at home depot with my credit card. Many times, he spent late hours to get the projects done and did them with quality craftsmanship. All in all, I would highly recommend Ryan for any and home improvement / installation / repair. If he is still available, I would book him quickly!!! read more

Very fast response time. Excellent service and very personable. I will definitely use him again.

Quantity of Quality is often difficult to find, as well as, Integrity. Handyman Services Hawaii exceeded my expectations for both. I had experienced an unfinished and somewhat botched up job on a recent floor installation by "Kainoa", a "professional installer" who put in the flooring 5 months ago. Numerous calls, texts and missed appearances, and a recent appointment this past Wednesday, which was no-showed without a call or text, to Complete the project led me to find a fix/cure.. Enter HHS! I called and explained my issues. An appointment was made for Thursday late afternoon. HHS arrived on time, assessed the issue and advised me of options. His technical excellence and knowledge base was incredible. After the price was agreed to, which was way less than I expected, based on my previous flooring experience, HHS began work and completed the task at hand. Workmanship and Craftsmanship are to be applauded! Have you ever met some who Loves their Work/Job? Try HHS out for your next Handyman job! You won't be disappointed or feel ripped off! I've worked with countless handymen and contractors over the last 10 years of doing property management. Ryan responded right away, scheduled quickly, and did a fantastic job repairing a bathroom ceiling that was badly water damaged. He did flawless work. I know how difficult it can be to make damaged drywall look perfect. His work was perfect! Also retro fitted a new ceiling vent with ease. I've been told by others it could not be done...Ryan did it! Absolutely recommend, he's a great guy, very personable and responsible and his charge was extremely reasonable (I know a lot about that too). I'll be calling him for every job from now on. read more

I called Ryan up and arranged a time to check out what needed to be done. He was very busy, but, made time to demo my bathtub walls and redo the tile. Not easy to do as the tiles were glued to concrete. Ryan had all the correct tools to demo very quickly. After that put in new tiles and to save time and money I helped him with dumping the waste. While that is all drying he was able to put in a kitchenette for me. All in all great service and will call him again and refer him to my friends. Some before and after pics. read more

Ryan helped me out with simple install of garbage disposal in my condo in Waikiki. I really appreciated his professional manner and the fact that he didn't overcharge me for the install and unit was commendable. I believe in leaving professional, constructive reviews. With that, I will hone in on the positives and needs improvement categories of our experience working with Ryan. For our renovations, we are working with a variety of licensed tradespeople. For some areas of the work, I inquired with Ryan about his capability, experience and willingness to accomplish them. After numerous conversations, meetings and emails (both pre and post demo and post other work completed by other tradespeople), Ryan expressed with confidence he could and would like to do the various tasks, as well as other items that arose post-demo. Ryan began the work for us on 9/3 and we communicated our move-in date of 9/30, and our main needs of having our flooring and baseboards installed (minus the kitchen area until cabinetry arrived), the pocket door build-out and installation to our guest room, and some prep work of areas on our walls so we may more easily be ready to paint when that time came. Things were progressing well and we were appreciative of Ryan's efforts (in additional billable time) to improve areas where demo wasn't ideal in order to lay our flooring to achieve a better outcome. We checked in with Ryan daily, in-person and via text, and he text progress images along with happy emoji's. On 9/10 I received another round of progress images of our flooring nearly complete minus the baseboards (with only the stairs and one closet left to finish). Within an hour of that communication I received another text from Ryan that was completely, and I am emphasizing completely, out of left field -- unprofessional and immature. I will not repeat some of the details but in sum, he claimed that our project was the most stressful one he's had this year and that he 'wants out.' As a design professional who works with demanding clients and skilled tradespeople daily, I was, to be blunt, shocked. I called Ryan immediately and noted that whatever was going on did not warrant a text, especially of that nature, and that speaking or meeting with us was the professional thing to do. I then asked him to communicate what prompted such an action as at no point in the last week have you told us you were under any stress, nor acted like you were. He noted it came to him at 2am that morning. He expressed that he signed up to only do a few things and now he's doing more, spending more time and having to cancel other work. I responded, as I noted above, that at every step of the way we asked him of his capabilities and willingness to take on the additional items and he responded with a confident 'I can do that.' I also responded that at no time did we expect to see him at our home every day. We provided the move-in date and our expectations of what was needed to be able to move-in and I expected him, as a business owner, to be able to manage his schedule and clients accordingly. He then said that this was his doing and that he should not have told us he could complete the work discussed. He again noted that he 'wanted out' but that didn't mean he wouldn't finish what he said he'd do. That made me uncomfortable, which I said to him, and then stated it was best he just complete the install of our flooring on our stairs and hall closet and we settle up and part ways. The following day, 9/11, I reviewed the work of our flooring installation on our stairs, took images and met him downstairs. I asked him if he thought he did a good job. He noted he did with what he had to work with (with regard to the condition of the concrete). I showed him the images which had gaps, areas that were not holding the glue, and an overall unfinished look and I asked if he wanted to try and make it right. He said he did and brought some of his things back up to try and rectify. Once done, I said he had to live with his work. Yes, we have to literally live with it if we decided to keep it as it was installed, but he has to live with the fact that he did or did not do the best job possible to leave on the best terms possible at this point. Ryan nodded and said he felt he did the best job he could. We will not be leaving the installation as-is, which is unfortunate. I provided a check for services he completed and expressed that we were quite pleased and appreciative of the main areas of the flooring work. However, his lack of any communication about feeling stressed/not being capable of completing our scope of work leading up to that unprofessional text was unsettling. I offered constructive advice to never text such things to a client again and to work on understanding your capabilities and clearly communicating them upfront so not to put any other clients in this uncomfortable position. read more

There haven't been any reviews for a while so maybe this company has gone out of business? I have tried to get a hold of them via phone call, text message, and the email function on their website. We hired Ryan to fix a list of problems that have collected throughout our home over the years. Honestly, I called him the first time based on all the great reviews posted here. I'm glad I listened. The range of projects ranged from 2 electrical outlet replacements, a plumbing issue, fixing a broken closet door, replacing a screen door, and putting in new weather stripping on a kitchen door. Looking at my list, I feel embarrassed it got so long, but in a short time, he crossed each item off the list. I was so impressed with his work I've already scheduled him to replace a major kitchen appliance (a cooktop). I very highly recommend Ryan, he did a great job! read more

Had seen this company on TV. The comments and reviews of positive so I thought I would give it a try. Requested a quote and received an email shortly thereafter from Ryan. His answers are to the point which I really appreciate I did measure e and was texting it to him. I would say my only thing was I am not a great measuring person and I understand Ryan was very busy which I think to be a good thing.. did the measuring as best I could submitted pictures and I needed to do one more measurement for him. In the meantime our building had someone come in who was repairing a good number doors he came by measured the doors a standard size and he will be back to replace the door that I need replaced. I would like to thank Ryan for his efforts and his professionalism. If you are one of those people that is real Handy with a tape measure and can get it down to the appropriate size to the Nano inch this is the place for you. I do recommend them as a customer service response time their answers are all spot on for me it was as simple as measuring I wish someone could have come out in measured. read more
