Well, I need not look further as I think the person I found is a keeper. Here is my story: My condo was in dire need of new flooring. This go around, I elected to re-carpet the bedrooms and living room and use wood paneling for my hallways and kitchen. I believe in leaving professional, constructive reviews. With that, I will hone in on the positives and needs improvement categories of our experience working with Ryan. For our renovations, we are working with a variety of licensed tradespeople. For some areas of the work, I inquired with Ryan about his capability, experience and willingness to accomplish them. After numerous conversations, meetings and emails (both pre and post demo and post other work completed by other tradespeople), Ryan expressed with confidence he could and would like to do the various tasks, as well as other items that arose post-demo. Ryan began the work for us on 9/3 and we communicated our move-in date of 9/30, and our main needs of having our flooring and baseboards installed (minus the kitchen area until cabinetry arrived), the pocket door build-out and installation to our guest room, and some prep work of areas on our walls so we may more easily be ready to paint when that time came. Things were progressing well and we were appreciative of Ryan's efforts (in additional billable time) to improve areas where demo wasn't ideal in order to lay our flooring to achieve a better outcome. We checked in with Ryan daily, in-person and via text, and he text progress images along with happy emoji's. On 9/10 I received another round of progress images of our flooring nearly complete minus the baseboards (with only the stairs and one closet left to finish). Within an hour of that communication I received another text from Ryan that was completely, and I am emphasizing completely, out of left field -- unprofessional and immature. I will not repeat some of the details but in sum, he claimed that our project was the most stressful one he's had this year and that he 'wants out.' As a design professional who works with demanding clients and skilled tradespeople daily, I was, to be blunt, shocked. I called Ryan immediately and noted that whatever was going on did not warrant a text, especially of that nature, and that speaking or meeting with us was the professional thing to do. I then asked him to communicate what prompted such an action as at no point in the last week have you told us you were under any stress, nor acted like you were. He noted it came to him at 2am that morning. He expressed that he signed up to only do a few things and now he's doing more, spending more time and having to cancel other work. I responded, as I noted above, that at every step of the way we asked him of his capabilities and willingness to take on the additional items and he responded with a confident 'I can do that.' I also responded that at no time did we expect to see him at our home every day. We provided the move-in date and our expectations of what was needed to be able to move-in and I expected him, as a business owner, to be able to manage his schedule and clients accordingly. He then said that this was his doing and that he should not have told us he could complete the work discussed. He again noted that he 'wanted out' but that didn't mean he wouldn't finish what he said he'd do. That made me uncomfortable, which I said to him, and then stated it was best he just complete the install of our flooring on our stairs and hall closet and we settle up and part ways. The following day, 9/11, I reviewed the work of our flooring installation on our stairs, took images and met him downstairs. I asked him if he thought he did a good job. He noted he did with what he had to work with (with regard to the condition of the concrete). I showed him the images which had gaps, areas that were not holding the glue, and an overall unfinished look and I asked if he wanted to try and make it right. He said he did and brought some of his things back up to try and rectify. Once done, I said he had to live with his work. Yes, we have to literally live with it if we decided to keep it as it was installed, but he has to live with the fact that he did or did not do the best job possible to leave on the best terms possible at this point. Ryan nodded and said he felt he did the best job he could. We will not be leaving the installation as-is, which is unfortunate. I provided a check for services he completed and expressed that we were quite pleased and appreciative of the main areas of the flooring work. However, his lack of any communication about feeling stressed/not being capable of completing our scope of work leading up to that unprofessional text was unsettling. I offered constructive advice to never text such things to a client again and to work on understanding your capabilities and clearly communicating them upfront so not to put any other clients in this uncomfortable position. read more

Had seen this company on TV. The comments and reviews of positive so I thought I would give it a try. Requested a quote and received an email shortly thereafter from Ryan. His answers are to the point which I really appreciate I did measure e and was texting it to him. I would say my only thing was I am not a great measuring person and I understand Ryan was very busy which I think to be a good thing.. did the measuring as best I could submitted pictures and I needed to do one more measurement for him. In the meantime our building had someone come in who was repairing a good number doors he came by measured the doors a standard size and he will be back to replace the door that I need replaced.
