Went opening week on a weekday around 7pm and waited an hour to order. Got the mango grapefruit drink and it came out 15 minutes after I ordered. Honestly, I don't think it's worth the wait because you can find drinks just as good elsewhere without the wait. (I found the mango drink to be the same as 7 miles in Cerritos). The drinks are good; I just wouldn't wait over 30 minutes so recommend to wait until the hype dies down. One reason for the 2 stars is that I had gone with friends and we ordered separately. We all ordered a mango drink where the first group and me who ordered last got our drinks. After ten minutes, we went to the counter to see where the second order was which at that time told us they had run out of mango, when there were orders coming out with mango drinks throughout the additional time we were waiting. They had us order another drink (which took another ten minutes and we had to go to the counter twice to remind them of our drink) but it wasn't good. I wish they had a better system where they make the drinks in order because it really shouldn't take an additional ten minutes for the second order to come out and parties behind us all got their mango drinks. read more

We came here after dinner and it was quite busy. If you downloaded and ordered through the app you got a discount, which was nice, but it was a little inconvenient and I deleted the app soon after. I don't really understand why everything needs it's own app. Anyways I got a milk tea with boba and the staff were pretty backed up with orders, but when a tea would get made they just kind of kept it on a counter in the back where we could see it but took their sweet time announcing the orders and giving them out. There were at least a couple of other people who were waiting for their order which was just sitting beyond their reach. After some more waiting one of my friends finally asked about the orders though they finally started to handing them out. Their main tag-line here seems to be that they use real ingredients, like real milk and tea, which is nice and all. It should pretty much be the standard in my opinion. I would liken it to a creamy version of the green grape smash at Jam Jam. The line to order moves very quickly, but we probably ended up waiting around 30 minutes for our drinks to be made. As you can see from the photo, traffic control is not the best, so there are just a lot of people standing outside waiting for their numbers to be called. They do have two tv screens inside which show a list of order numbers currently being made and which orders are ready for pickup, which helps for the people waiting outside that may not be able to hear when their number is called. My personal favorite place to get matcha! I prefer more creamy subtle types of matcha and it really hits the spot. Their cheese foam is the only cheese foam I like. I also recently tried the magnolia tea and it's really good as well. Unlike some other boba places, you can actually taste the tea. I usually order online since the wait time can get really long. They were working so hard to handle the insane popularity of this shop, had pleasant attitudes despite the chaos, and were so hardworking. Replaced the old Yi Fang that was here. This plaza can get packed so be a bit patient with finding parking. The line is still atrociously long even though grand opening was a week ago. Reminded me of the old Orobae lines - but the crowd for this line was different in an annoying way. I'm not a boba nor tea connoisseur. But I do LOVE Hey Tea. I think I ended up being one of the oldest (by age) visitors today. Came in after a holiday dinner with younger family members. They got us the crisp grape and the mango tea. Personally, I liked the crisp grape more. But the mango tea was also great. Compared to other boba places, these drinks were in fact very refreshing in a way that others can't seem to replicate. If you can deal with all the high school and college kids, you should definitely come in for a drink. Everyone seems to order via the app rather than the tablet in store. There were crowds of kids waiting around for drinks with no line to order. The shop isn't a hangout spot. When visiting you'll see they have virtually no furniture. I took advantage of phone online order with the 10% discount, so I didn't have to wait in line to order. It was on a Sunday late afternoon and when arrived I saw a lot of customers waiting for their drinks in front of the door and around the building. I was afraid it might take an hour for my drinks to be ready. However, I was impressed with how well they managed both in-store orders and online pickups. My drinks were ready in about 30 minutes or so. A big plus is that the cashiers were incredibly nice and helpful, even though they were working non-stop in a fast-paced environment. Had heytea again recently and it was still really good! The drinks are still on the more pricy end for sure but the freshness of the fruits makes it a nice treat here and there. I got the mango and grapefruit drink which I really loved(think that although it is an iconic combination on its own the contrast is truly heightened with the freshness of the fruits). If you live in Irvine or in OC you know this parking lot can get rough so just something to keep in mind but it's nice that there's other amazing restaurants to visit nearby. Service is not outstanding(not bad by any means) and wait can be a while but I appreciate that they are transparent about it. read more

Pros: The teas are amazing! I especially recommend their grape boom with cheese foam. The cheese is perfectly cheesy and salty. I got it on the side first to make sure. The service was great, and everything was nicely packaged! I would definitely come here again for the drinks. Yuck yuck yuck! It was either stand outside in the 100F+ heat or wait inside and cover my nose from this gross smell! I do like how they use fresh ingredients and fruit as you can definitely taste the quality in the mango boom which was our favorite. Although it was supposed to be a slushy, when I went to pick it up, it was already very melted but still very rich, creamy and delicious. I'm glad HeyTea is finally opening locations in the US ten years too late. However the entire experience seriously pales in comparison to every aspect to what I had in China. Starting off with the cups size. In China, a large cup would usually be $1.50 depending on the exchange rate but in Irvine they are at least $7 for the smaller size. Menu is significantly smaller than whatever they had in China with a lot of the more interesting toppings and seasonal options missing. From an operation standpoint the Irvine store was extremely efficient. Wait times were just as bad if not worse than the notorious DMV. In China there's a kiosk at the front of the store updating order statuses compared to Irvine there's just a person shouting the order numbers. The iconic Grape Boom just didn't taste as good as what I had in China many times. The slushies were more liquid than ice by the time I got my order. Bluntly speaking whoever is giving it a 5 star review probably hasn't even tried the real HeyTea experience in China. For me personally, it was a serious disappointment having to wait at least close to 2 hours in line for such an inferior experience. I personally don't think it's worth wasting your time coming here until online orders are officially available. read more
