We had an old iBuyPower PC we bought from Best Buy a couple years ago to replace a work PC in a jam which broke right before a major deadline. It was a decent-ish PC and we upgraded parts of it over time with a RTX 2080, 64GB of RAM, and 2TB Samsung SSD's. However, we always knew that the processor was the bottleneck. Fast forward a couple years and suddenly this machine started making this weird ticking around the fans. We assumed it was some plastic bit hitting a fan blade so we dismantled one of the fans only to find out the hard way that it was attached to the liquid cooling! Yup, got water all inside the PC and fried the motherboard. So once again, we found ourselves in need of a replacement PC right before another upcoming work deadline and we needed it fixed ASAP. We had used Best Buy Geek Squad in the past and had planned to do them again, but after seeing the Yelp reviews for HeliX PC we decided to try local. We're so glad we did! Gar was AMAZING. On my way home from dropping off the fried PC, I got a prompt call back saying what was wrong. As suspected, the motherboard was fried and we'd need a new one. In addition, the ticking noise that started this all was apparently from the liquid cooling pump going bad. So since we had to replace the motherboard and cooling system anyway, we figured this was an opportune time to upgrade the processor while we were at it. We gave Gar our intended budget and he quickly found some replacement parts better than the originals and told us it'd be ready that same day. Though after some consideration, we decided we might as well just go for it and do a BIG upgrade while it was there at the shop, so at the last minute we increased our budget to use top-of-the-line replacements instead. Poor Gar had already installed most of our originally planned mid-tier replacement parts when I called with the change of plans, but he handled it like a champ and happily got to work putting top-tier parts in instead. All that and I still got my PC back early the next day. Now our PC has an AMD Ryzen 9, a ROG Strix X570-E Gaming Motherboard, and a brand new 360mm liquid cooling system (unlike the dinky 120mm that it came with). With these new additions on top of the pre-existing upgrades we did over the last couple years, the only thing left of the original iBuyPower at this point is the case and the power supply! Suffice to say, this is now a whole new beast of a machine compared to where it started. We're excited to put it through its paces in the weeks ahead, both for work and for gaming. So for any future repairs or upgrades, we're definitely going back to HeliX PC! read more

Had a problem with my Custom Built PC shutting off while gaming. Put in a few hours trying to troubleshoot on my own but finally decided it was time to give it up to someone who knows his stuff. Dropped my PC off via contactless drop-off. Gar knows his stuff, that's for sure. He gave me a call maybe 1hr after dropping it off and let me know what was up, and told me my liquid cooler is what failed, VERY QUICK! He asked if I'd like to get it repaired there, or if I'd like to take it home. I was more then capable of replacing the cooler on my own but decided to support local business. Called for a simple SSD steam deck install that takes about 20-30 minutes and dude quoted me $150 when I called several other places afterwards that quotes $50-$80. Dude is definitely greedy w prices and he seemed very cocky. Would not recommend. He also said it would take 1 whole day which is crazy when it's a less than a 30 minutes Job. No way this would take a day. Overall would not refer anyone to go here. Just his attitude alone I wouldn't even pay $20 if it was just that. I was able to find somewhere that will do it all for $75. I used quarantine to build my first PC and all was well until I tripped over my own two feet and dropped an Iron Man statuette onto the top of my gaming PC tower that also took out multiple usb inputs in the back along the journey down.
