I searched "bagels" the other day since we were gonna run some errands and I wanted to pick something up to go. I realize I am that weirdo who sometimes just wants a solid bagel, not sliced, nothing on it. It always makes me laugh how foreign this concept is to some people. So we get inside and I realize it's more of a deli than a "bagel" place, bummer, but I asked what kind they have and they gave me a list of 4-5. They didn't sell cinnamon raisin, so I just got a plain. I said nothing on it. They asked me like 8 questions - no butter? no jelly? no cream cheese? Broskis, just a plain bagel. My husband ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese and they acted like he was speaking gibberish, when it's right on their menu. Everyone seemed......new that day? Or had never seen their own menu before? It was more cumbersome to order than one would imagine. Anyway, this was probably one of the worst bagels I've ever had. Texture was off, tasted like bread and not a bagel. I know I have to temper my expectations for bagels in Colorado, but for a place called BROOKLYN deli, super disappointed. The frozen bagels I get from Walmart sometimes are far superior. The bacon, egg, and cheese was fine ingredients wise, but my husband's everything bagel (not actually everything - they just added poppy seeds + sesame seeds, not all the other seasonings) was on par with mine. Winner!! A quaint little place! New Customer... pleasantly surprised!! Yesterday, I ordered the turkey wrap on tomato basil ... sooooo good! Fresh, delicious, and plentiful! They don't make it until you order it! It was cold outside, so I went back today for soup (to warm me up). I ordered Tomato Florentine ... it was really delicious! I went to the location in Brighton. To start, the service was not great. When I arrived there were a few people in front of me, and it wasn't busy yet. I ordered the Juliana and also a kids hot dog. It took what seemed like FOREVER to get our order. The people in front of us all got their orders and then people after me got their orders. I finally went to question where my order was and they were calling an "Emily" instead of my name which is "Monique". A few things I think they can improve, is if they didn't hear a name fully, the staff should ask again instead of assuming a name. Maybe repeat the name back to the customer to make sure it is correct. Also, the Juliana sandwich stated it comes warmed. Mine was not. For an Italian sandwich it was quite dry and not worth the 25+ min wait time. I was hoping that with waiting the sandwich would come out phenomenal, which was not the case. Very mediocre in my opinion. My husband and I love to go to different sandwich shops and order the Italian sub. We are Italian sub pros at this point and this shouldn't have taken that long to be that mediocre and dry. Lastly, when given my order, they forgot the kids meal, entirely. I had to remind them and they did apologize and made it on the spot, but that added an additional 8+ minutes or so to wait for the kids order. At this point, we have been at this shop for a while. It's hard not to feel some sort of way. The staff apologized, but their sense of urgency seems to be lacking. It's like they were all moving in slow motion. I didn't expect anything super fast, but to have 5-6 people on one line and for things to be as slow as they were was confusing and painful to watch. I would recommend to preorder online to prevent any long wait times and to check your food order to avoid forgotten items. In my opinion, there are better deli spots with better tasting food. Of course I understand some days are off days. I won't count them out just yet, and would like to give them another chance. A positive is the snickerdoodle cookies are quite delicious! read more

I visited Heidi's Brooklyn Deli for lunch during the week. The line was very long with many customers coming in during the lunch rush, but it was well worth the wait! The staff is very friendly and quickly took and completed orders to keep the line moving. I highly recommend getting the hot sandwiches from Heidi's. I particularly enjoyed the pastrami on rye and Italian sandwiches! The deli meat and vegetables were both very fresh but the best part of the sandwiches is definitely the bread! The french bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside while the rye had a nice blend of flavors. I will continue to stop by for lunch when downtown in the future! read more

Heidi's Denver, which is located on Lawrence Street, between 17th and 18th Streets, makes incredibly delicious fast casual food. The team is always friendly, and they do tend to get busy due to being located on the ground floor of a large office building, and in part, because they're only open during breakfast and lunchtime hours only (8 am - 2:30 pm Mon-Thurs, 8 am - 2 pm Fri, Closed Sat/Sun), but things move swiftly. I typically get the Canjun Turkey sandwich with no modifications, and I can honestly say it's one of the best deli sandwiches in Denver and beyond. Normally, I get it on whole wheat, but you really cannot go wrong with your bread choice, because the primary bread selection is made from scratch, and baked in-house daily. They hand slice the wonderfully soft bread and then top it with fresh turkey, avocado, tomato, onions, lettuce, and a delicious housemade sweet and slightly spicy Cajun sauce. For just $9.99 (at the time this was written), you get a huge sandwich, a deli-style dill pickle, and your choice of homemade potato salad, homemade coleslaw, or standard Lays chips. It's so good and many times I eat it as two separate meals. The cookies are also made fresh in-store and are amazing! read more

I love me some Heidi's, and I was super sad when the location on the other end of downtown closed. I knew that there was another one somewhere along the same street, but would it the same as the location that I loved so much? Yes, of course. It's a chain. A beloved chain that will always be tasty. This location always has lines out the door at lunch time, but that's typical for most places. It's lunch time. People gotta eat. It doesn't take too terribly long, and before I know it, I am placing an order for my world famous Transplanted New Yorker on pumpernickel bread. This place has the BEST pumpernickel bread. Dark, thick, and so damn soft. Just like me. Pile on all the Italian meats and cheese, cajun sauce, avocado, tomato and lettuce, and this girl is in heaven. As for sides, get the potato salad. Trust me. German taters at their best. Who cares about service when I can get the aforementioned sandwich? Eat half for lunch and save the rest for lunch tomorrow (or, if you're like me, as a late afternoon snack). read more

I've had better... I thought I would go with the turkey on wheat. The bread was nice and fresh - I ordered the wheat (trying to be healthy, yanno?). The deli meat was really tasty too, not sure what kind of turkey they use, but it was pretty savory. The rest of the sandwich, however, just left something to be desired. I found it overall to be quite dry - and that's with the addition of avocado (which I could barely see or taste because it was as skimpy as a Paris Hilton outfit). There was very little produce on it either...one smallish wilted piece of lettuce and like two slices of tomato. Also noticeably missing was the mustard - maybe when I said no mayo no onion, she naturally assumed I meant no mustard?! Maybe that also was secret sandwich maker language for, don't put anything but turkey on there!? Someone fill me in - I think I missed the memo! $10 for a boring and bland sandwich and a soda seems a bit steep to me - but then I'm just a visitor here to Denver and maybe that's the norm. By way of a disclaimer: Heidi's Deli gave me a free chocolate chip cookie today that I just wolfed down. My opinion might be skewed in gooey chocolate goodness! I had no idea that Heidi's Deli was so close to my office, but I just walked over to Heidi's for lunch and it was very good. I had a tuna salad sandwich on wheat - and the bread was tasty. It was a little thickly sliced for my taste (I hate gigantic hard crusts - and there is a lot of that sitting on my plate staring at me), but overall the flavors were good and the cole slaw I had on the side was not too mayonnaise-d out. The service was relatively quick, but not overly friendly. I'll definitely go back to Heidi's Deli - this and other locations always satisfy my stomach! read more

Ah the lowly sandwich. You'd think there was not much to do with a sandwich. Or really not much to get excited about, you think? What with all the choices you have for real, hot, prepared, made to order stuff. You'd think a place like Heidi's wouldn't stand a chance. Well, what I had could be a lowly choice itself! Imagine getting excited about an egg salad sandwich! I mean, really! Two large freshly baked slices of wheat bread. An ample and bodacious spread of egg salad. The salad, called a Country Egg Salad, was advertised as having Dijon mustard, which provided just the right tang to bind everything together. I asked for the works, which meant lettuce, tomato and onion. Actually, no wait, I said to hold the tomato. And what a feast it was! If I can complain about something silly, they actually overstuffed the sandwich with the egg salad! It was so tasty, perfectly seasoned. As a matter of fact they probably had just made it fresh because on one bite I could taste a bit more of the mustard because it wasn't totally mixed yet. Marvelous sandwich, and a bargain too with a small bag o'chips tossed in. I saw a Mom pick up a nice pb&j for her kids --that too was made to order. Food review: This spin on an egg salad sandwich is so good. There's kind of two areas of this sandwich. First there's the egg salad and bacon which is kind of like having breakfast. :-) Then there's the avocado and cajun sauce which blend together nicely. Altogether, you get a really yummy egg salad sandwich. The potato salad is a little bit on the sweeter side which was ok but I'm not a big fan of sweeter potato salads. Finished off the meal with a chocolate eclair which was quite good. Nothing really bad to say about this yummy lunch. Service? This place is right near my work so in a pinch I tend to go there. I have tried quite a few of their sandwiches, and some are pretty good, and some just are plain bad. There are such contradictions about this place. For example: you have fresh sliced to order homemade bread, but they heat everything up in the microwave. The egg salad is great and home made, but the turkey is slimy pressed meat you would find in a lunchable. (you remember lunchables right?). And their soups are frozen and come out of a food service bag. PROS: Good Brooklyn veggie wrap with hummus, beats, avocado, and some other veggies good Ruben (not the best, but good) Good meatball and chicken parm Really good egg salad Fresh made bread Fast CONS: EXPENSIVE for a sandwich. 7 bucks for half a prime rib sandwich on wheat where there was a piddly, fatty piece of overcooked meat. I even asked before hand if it was too fatty, and the lady gave me kind of a exasperated, "well, it is a little bit." This thing had more fat than meat. The microwaves. I like the chicken parm and meatball sandwiches but they are microwaved. Actually any thing served "hot" is toasted bread and microwaved meat. I just find this bizarre for the price. Their pickles always taste off. It comes with coleslaw (ok) potato salad (better than the coleslaw) or a small bag of food service chips (meaning the small size of plain chips, and if you want any of the other better, tastier chips, or fruit that is extra) Friday is free cookie day (and it is a pretty good cookie). For the price, I would just expect higher quality meats, not microwaved. read more

This location gets pretty packed so we just have it delivered these days but I cannot get enough of Heidi's. I must admit, so far, I always get the same sandwich. Mainly because they don't have any meat substitute for the philly cheesesteak. I like mine with chicken and, many times, they end up only having the breaded chicken. Aside from that, I think the staff is pretty personable. Order taking over the phone is awesome. They even put the names on the sandwiches so people know exactly what is theirs when delivered. The best thing about Heidi's is the bread. Bread is important, and why I'll never eat at a Quizno's or Subway for the rest of my life. The worst: long lines for around two hours in the middle of every workday, crazy prices (mostly $8 and up) for simple sandwiches, poor produce and crappy limp pickles. I'll throw in a staff that sneers at the people in line and screws up my orders 50% of the time. On a brighter note, the chocolate chip cookies are delicious and free on Fridays with a purchase. And the Hell's Kitchen is a tasty sandwich you won't find elsewhere. But another downer, I think it's lame I have to pay extra for a real bag of chips. Haven't had much luck with the breakfast burritos or bagel sandwiches here either...they are pretty big, though messy, pricey and greasy. I only stop here in the AM if I am extremely hungover. PS this is a dead giveaway to my boss. If I'm in dire straits and need to grab lunch during the day, I walk across the street to pay $5 for a similar sandwich at the Corporate Deli.
