I love this place, they're such a fun selection of desserts and treats and snacks. Little kids would just die here. The lady making our desserts was so goofy and entertaining to watch. Went here on a whim late Sunday evening to get some elote (corn). We first tried going to the location on 7th st downtown and it was way too busy so we drove up to this location. The line looked shorter than downtown so we got in line. It was 15 minutes before closing, and before we knew it, we stood there for 45 minutes. When it was our turn to order, we were told they were out of corn. What a bummer! After waiting all that time we figured we had to try something so we got a waffle bowl. When you are craving Mexican corn, an ice cream bowl doesn't really fill that craving, but after waiting all that time how can you walk away empty handed? It would have been nice if maybe they put a note on their menu board saying the elote is sold out. The waffle bowl was average. It was a good size portion which was nice. The fruit didn't taste like it was fully ripe though. The Mango Hill looked like a popular choice and looked good. When I have a craving for something like that I know where to come. Friends in Austin and Pville raved about how great the corn in the cup was here so I decided to give them a shot. Ordered a small corn in a cup and a mangonada. The corn was just ok. They use(from what it looks like) white corn instead of the typical yellow corn and load it up with grated parmesan blend cheese with "chile" to spice it up. I am a bit biased to my local hood shops back in Houston and Pasadena where it's not only cheaper, but have an entirely different corn recipe that just blows your mind. But overall their corn is good.. Now where these guys really shine is their mangonadas! OMG, one sip and I was in heaven! Really juicy mango meat all throughout the drink, perfectly blended and balanced with chile and sweetness. They have a pretty diverse menu for a refresqueria and all in all it was a good spot. Plenty of snacks to choose from! So many that I couldn't decide and my cousin and I grabbed a few things. They make a few different snacks with very fresh fruit that is cut up as you order. They have corn in a cup which they add mayo ( some people only do butter or some just do mayo) so make sure to let them know your preference. They were a bit heavy with the mayo but after I mixed everything together it still had that corn in the cup craving flavor satisfaction. We also ordered chilindrinas and I'm not a big fan of these, but Hay elotes has changed my mind they were super delicious. Came here when we finished eating at the Korean bbq joint next door. Got to say the selection is quite extensive and the food/drinks/snacks/desserts were all delicious. Overall the choices are amazing and it definitely hit the spot after a heavy dinner. We got a few items I can't remember one of them was a mango tower of deliciousness! Fruit cup was good but I didn't realize there was station on the side for chili salts etc. Would have given a full 5 stars but cleanliness wasn't the best, the tables were kinda sticky and chairs were kinda dirty. I'm not an elotes expert and when I have had them, they've been on the cob rather than in a cup. We stopped in at about 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. The line was almost out the door. We waited a good 15 minutes or more to get to the counter. Since we had dinner plans already we just wanted to sample the elotes this first visit and got a small cup. I am sure some or most of the staff speak English, but the woman asked what we wanted to order in Spanish and I replied in the little Spanish I knew. I was a little hesitant to try this after I saw her make it because they do use A LOT of crema or mayo, not sure which it is. They basically layer corn, cheese crema a few times and then top it with some chile powder. My husband took a crack at it and once he mixed up the layers I tried it. It does have a very strong mayo flavor at first but then the cheese flavor comes in and then the corn. It's REALLY good. I still prefer elotes on the cob but this was a little more travel friendly. I really want to come back sometime for dessert and try the Coconada! They all looked really amazing. read more
