    Tacos Plate
    Helen C.

These were so delicious!! I ordered the plate with five tacos - 3 bistec, 3 al pastor. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The bistec was juicy and the perfect consistency, the al pastor tacos had pineapple on them, a wonderful touch. I could tell this food was made with love and I will be ordering from this location again. Very affordable for the quality!!

Quick and comforting bakery and food at a reasonable price. This bakery is a local favorite, with many customers constantly coming and going. Food: The tacos and tortas are good, but they're not my absolute favorite. Still, I definitely recommend giving them a try since lots of people really love them. Service: The staff was friendly, and the service was efficient. Everyone was on top of it. Ambiance: Walking in for the first time can be a bit intimidating, especially when it's crowded and people are busy selecting their baked goods. However, everyone tends to mind their own business, so there's no need to worry.

    Pan dulce

Mi Tradición has the key to my heart and this bakery is hands down one of the best panaderias I've been to. This bakery features plenty of different options including churros, pan dulce, empanadas, donuts, pastel, bolillos, and so much more. What I enjoy most about this shop is the sensation of playing baker and getting to select your baked goods with your own metal pan and tongs. Maybe it's the inner child in me, but I dig it. I find myself always coming for one or two bolillos and I swear I won't be grabbing anything else; however, three minutes in I'm filling up the tray lol. My faves are these flaky pastries topped with raw sugar and filled with guava. I'm seriously drooling as I'm typing this. Their apple empanadas are delicious too! Everyone is super friendly here and there's a restaurant adjacent to it as well. Take a few moments to appreciate the baking process and the quality of their work.

    Tres Leches

This is a hidden gem with the best Tres Leches cake in Austin. I ordered a birthday cake from here and it did not disappoint. I took the cake home and decorated it myself. The price of the cake wasn't expensive at all. The service was fast and the employees all were very nice. Each time I visit there are always lots of people, but there is never a super long wait and it isn't too noisy. I've only ordered cakes but they have a lot of items on their menu to select from. Cakes are baked fresh daily which is a plus, and there is a large selection to choose from.

The place has two sections: a Mexican restaurant and a bakery. I didn't order any bread, but I did get a tacos de arroz and a zucchini huarache. The tacos de arroz came with a piece of breaded poblano stuffed with cheese. The pepper was delicious, though the bread was a bit too salty for my taste. The zucchini huarache was juicy and had a rich, complex flavor for a vegetable dish.

Love this place because it's a one stop shop for pan dulce and to grab lunch/dinner. One side is the bakery and the other side is the taqueria, which offers a variety of legit Mexican dishes. You can find flautas, chilles rellenos, blue corn quesadillas, tacos, tinga, gorditas, sopes. The best part is they allow modifications if you don't like certain ingredients. The tortas are quite hefty and very filling. I always judge a place by their salsa and theirs is actually spicy so they get bonus points from me! They have all the options for aguas frescas to go with your meal and service is prompt and friendly. Don't pass this up when you're in the Austin area.

This place reminds me of one of my favorite panaderias in Houston. You walk in and it's self serve of all the Mexican pastries one could want. Service is quick, efficient and friendly. It's located in a big strip mall with plenty of parking in the lot.

We'll skip the fact that you choose and place your treats on a tray and their prices are amazing... what I really love about this place is the authenticity. I hope you try this place and enjoy it as much as we did! If you are choosey about packaging, bring a tray or large storage container - they place things in a paper bag which was off-putting for me b/c the baked items are so pretty!

    Baked deliciousness

There are many things that make me love Mi Tradición. One of those things is the wide selection of amazing baked goods. From conchas to churros to cakes to empanadas, there is genuinely something for anyone here. Not only is the selection huge, but they are very affordable. And it's so fun just to throw stuff on your tray, even if you don't know what it is! Besides the bakery, the food side is solid as well. I've gotten tacos in the past and had to try the tortas. While the torta isn't the best I've ever had, it's definitely fantastic and one that I would want again. There are a variety of flavors to try so I'm looking forward to it! Lastly, you've gotta try the horchata. Seriously some of the best I've had in Austin! Love this place altogether!

Authentic Mexican food and bakery. Blue corn tortillas and masa for the win on a lot of dishes. Probably the best tortas in town and the selection of aguas is always excellent. You order at the front and collect your food at the pass and the bakery is self service so service is friendly and efficient taking orders and cashing customers out. Nothing fancy but it keeps the line moving and the delicious food coming out. The feel is very common to a panaderia and taqueria in Mexico. I love bringing people here for lunch. There are little frills in the seating area and it is definitely not a romantic setting but the food...come here for the food...and dessert.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

Immediately upon walking in, we felt unwelcomed. We waited 10 minutes at the front desk for someone to even address us, and then were told to wait while they cleared off a table for us. Twenty minutes later, we went back up to ask about the table and were actually told by the staff that they forgot about it. Finally a table was set for us and we sat down. We all ordered drinks and asked for water at this point. The water was brought, but we waited and waited for our drinks. After another 20 minutes and watching the bartenders (who were not busy this evening) make no moves to make our drinks, we got up and left. I have never had such an experience at a restaurant before.
