For Valentine's Day we visited Harvest Beat for Dinner. For those not familiar, Harvest Beat is a vegan restaurant located in the Wallingford neighborhood offering seasonal multi-course dinners. The multi-Course Dinner included alcoholic or non-alcoholic options. The dinner started with '18 Six Atmospheres Blanc De Blanc 100% chardonnay (Woodinville,WA ) and the Harvest Beat Hot Chocolate Oat Cinnamon Agave Urfa biber Cayenne option. The 1st and 2nd Courses were plated together) and included Hickory smoked potato chowder alongside a pinenut wasabi crème glazed roasted beet poke salad, topped with ponzu marinated wakame, and finished with toasted sesame seeds accompanied by, '23 Sigillo Cellars 100% Viognier (Snoqualmie,Wa.) and the non-alcoholic option Lemongrass Ginger Ice Tea. The 3rd Course included Curry, butternut squash, pumpkin seed paneer on a toasted cumin black lentil daal finished with a garam masala apple and pear chutney topped with purple potato chips. This course was accompanied by '21 Sparkman Cellars "Outlaw" Merlot (Woodinville,Wa.) and the non-alcoholic option, Apple Arugula Rose Chamomile Lemon Myrtle Sparkling Elixir. The 4th Course was Spinach, caramelized onion, roasted black trumpet mushroom, cashew cheese filled crepe with roasted carrots and fingerling potatoes, on a saffron cream sauce finished with toasted slivered almonds. This was accompanied by '23 Sigillo Cellars 100% Syrah ( Snoqualmie,Wa.) and the non-alcoholic option Pear Carrot Basil Apple Cider Vinegar Milk Thistle Holy Basil Dandelion root sparkling elixir. The final course, Red velvet chocolate lava cake with raspberry coconut whip cream accompanied by '23 El Aziz "Fina" 100% Late Harvest Grillo ( Sicily, Italy) and non-alcoholic Harvest Beat Tea Blend. Delicious people!! Compliments to the kitchen for exquisite plate presentation and making vegetables taste so good. The beverage pairings both alcohol and non were on point. The servers were knowledgeable and welcoming!

If you want to have a very UNIQUE and DIFFERENT experience go here. But if you're not generally into Vegan food, don't go here for the food lol. But I'd say it's definitely worth going for the experience you get - they only serve once a day and they serve all parties once they have arrived and seated altogether. Sort of an intimate experience with strangers (but not in a bad way). For not being vegan nor even liking vegetarian food much, the food wasn't BAD. But again, you don't go for the food you go for the experience.

I'm so happy harvest beat is staying strong to their roots no matter how hard it is to be a small business in Seattle. My second time visiting- first was an anniversary and this time my birthday. As a vegan and for my husband a non vegan, it's as close to a Seattle Michelin Star food experience as you could get. Honestly, I nominate them! (And , yes, I've been to one, check my Eleven Madison Yelp Review). Seattle has none and for good reason, however here, they're different. They don't shy away from any challenge. An ambitious menu that updates per the season , like every ~3 weeks. And using the real definition of farm to table with all ingredients from a 100 mile radius! With all that being said, service & food are top notch! Thursday - Sunday 7:00pm reservations only 5 course pre-planned vegan experience. Friendly inviting chefs including their kitchen welcome the guests. Full drink list with option to pair spritzers or wine. My food review; spectacular attention to details. The plating. The colors. The savory to sweet . We started with a warm soup to a refreshing salad and slowly worked to our hardy main dish with meaty mushrooms and creamy potatoes. We had a wonderful experience. I look forward to my next visit and highly recommend.

A wonderful experience for plant-based folks and omnivores alike. I had been wanting to dine at Harvest Beat for a while, and I'm so happy that I finally got the chance--the food is thoughtful, flavorful, and filling, the atmosphere is cozy, and service was great! When you walk in the door, you're greeted with the option to start off the evening with wine or an elixir (non-alcoholic beverage). Each course comes with a pairing, which adds another level of excitement to the menu. My boyfriend and I opted for one wine pairing and one elixir pairing, so that we could share and try both, which I recommend if you do partake in adult beverage consumption. I know mocktails may not seem the most appealing, but these drinks were refreshing, well-balanced, and paired exceptionally well with each course... dare I say I enjoyed them a little more than the wine! We chose to sit at the "bar" area, overlooking the kitchen, which I also highly recommend. Watching the chefs plate each course was a lot of fun! The food itself was seasonal, interesting, full of flavor, and yes, the portions overall were quite generous... I normally am able to finish my meals when out, but had to have some assistance with the main course and dessert. Although all of the food was good, the smoky potato chowder served alongside a unique roasted beet poke salad was by far my favorite. That chowder has to be one of the best soups I've ever had! My boyfriend isn't the biggest fan of beets but devoured his and asked for some of mine. The playlist was both calming and uplifting, the lighting was just right, and each course came out with impeccable timing--we didn't feel rushed, yet we weren't waiting too long between each course. The menu changes regularly, so I'm definitely looking forward to enjoying another lovely dining experience and having the opportunity to try more creative plant-based dishes, hopefully in the near future.

Menu, $135 + tax + tip per person regardless of Alcohol or Non-Alcohol pairing

TLDR: overpriced especially if you don't drink alcohol. For us it's an one-visit experience worth checking out but not returning. Brought my partner here for his birthday celebration. We were excited to try a vegetarian-centric fine dining experience. As many other reviewers have mentioned, they start serving courses to all tables at the same time, so all parties at the restaurant start dinner at the same time. Service was welcoming and friendly, but not attentive enough for the price you are paying... As soon as most tables have arrived, the staff started serving us drinks. My partner and I don't drink alcohol, so we got served some very creative colorful non-alcohol drinks to start with. As each course was served, they were paired with different drinks. For alcohol pairing, it was wine, for non-alcohol pairing, it was various colorful sugary drinks. All the courses of food were beautifully plated, with interesting ideas, pretty good taste, and high-quality ingredients. My partner as a vegetarian who always had limited options when dining out was quite satisfied and pleasantly surprised by the dishes. I was more impressed by their creativity and their local sourcing policy. However, neither of us were happy that we were charged the same price as patrons who had alcohol pairing. Alcohol is way pricier than N/A sugary drinks is a common knowledge, and I believe Harvest Beat used to charge less for N/A pairing. Both of us felt like we were forced to take in lots of liquid sugar just so they can charge us the same price as people who drink alcohol. The amount of sugary drinks served started impacting my appetite and experience towards the end of the dinner. It felt like an overkill. The service, as I mentioned earlier, was good, but nothing up to the expectation I had from the price tag. For $135 + tax and tipping per person, the service was mediocre. Nothing more than what you'd get at a casual sit-down restaurant.

We've been vegetarian/vegan for years, and have avoided fine dining/set experiences like this because the price point often came from the meat offerings. Not here!! And for non-drinkers, note that imo the non-alcoholic elixirs were even better than the wine pairings! But both were spot on. Every item was so fresh and clearly seasonal. The staff was kind and on top of things. This was our first time doing anything like this, and it was truly phenomenal. I didn't know how these things worked so imma write it out for ppl in the same boat: -like a normal restaurant, except everyone eats the same things at the same time bc you're all booked for 7 pm -can get there early to pick your preferred table, they give you set drinks while you wait, we got there at 645 and were the first table whoops! -chef came out ~720 to explain the origin of the meals -servers bring out the paired drink and food to each table one course at a time -you don't interact with other tables, literally like any other restaurant -pay at the end. With tax & 20% tip it was $178 per person. We left plenty full too! Hoping to do this at least once a year. So much fun, a truly special anniversary experience.

Harvest Beat has a prix-fixe menu with wine or non-alcoholic pairing. The entire restaurant is seated at 7PM and served each course at the same time. This means that if one table is late, the entire restaurant does not get started until everyone arrives. The chef(s) will go over the menu, usually consisting of many local and seasonal produce, with the entire room. My favorite courses were the salad and soup. The salad had the freshest greens with fun toppings like kumquats and a unique beet-and-yogurt dressing. The soup was a stinging nettles and miso bisque. Who ever thought of combining stinging nettles and miso?! Both the salad and the soup were delicious. The seeded cracker added a nice crunch. I was less impressed with the other courses. The samosa was good, but not necessarily better than ones I have had at Indian restaurants. The Vietnamese crepe was served like a taco, so I wasn't sure if I should eat it like a taco or with a knife and fork. I saw the other guests use a knife and fork, so I did too, but the crepe was very hard (as a taco shell would be) and difficult to cut through (1 star off). The maitake mushroom filling for the crepe/taco/whatever was overly salty (1 star off). The required drink pairings were nice individually, but they did not seem to go well with each course. For example, the stinging nettles-miso soup had a peach-cardamom-coconut drink pairing. The peach-cardamom-coconut drink was a delicious smoothie, but I don't think it worked well with a umami-rich soup. For dessert, the galub jamum had a foul odor, almost like sweat (1 star off). I think the dough must have been old or spoiled. I didn't want to complain because I did not want to stay any longer. For $135/person, I had expected much more. It was a shame that the food decreased in quality as the courses progressed.

The courses were all flavorful! My favorites were the spanakopita and soup. The non alcoholic drinks were excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed them. My husband enjoyed the alcoholic choices as well. The lands cake didn't escalope have the melted lava that we were expecting but the cake was alright. The whole experience takes at least 2 hours. We arrived around 6:55p and dinner starts around 7:05. We left around 9:30 or so. I loved the decor in the bathrooms and they are kept clean. The tables felt intimate and they even provided coloring sheets and crayons for my 4 year old. Very kind staff!

Incredible vegan food, very creative menu, all the ingredients are local. Comfortable ambiance, and the staff genuinely cares about you. The best restaurant in town, vegan or not.

Wanted to love it. My husband is vegan and we eat a lot of veggie/plant-forward dishes. The concept of Harvest Beat is right up our alley, but for us the reality didn't live up to the hype. The non-alcoholic elixir pairings were our favorite part, with the oat milk chai being our top pick from those. The service was very warm and welcoming. The dishes weren't tastier than what we've made for ourselves at home, and at times the execution was not great (like dry, tough fingerling potatoes). I think they had a new chef recently start on at the time, so maybe they have gotten back into a groove now. Nit picky things that not everyone will care about: I wish that instead of reading the entire menu off word-for-word during the introduction, the host had briefly described each dish just before it was served, perhaps with a bit of information that couldn't be found on the menu. Speaking of the menu, it kind of floated around on our very small table for 2 and we struggled to keep it out of the way while eating (they do not collect them for service). The diners next to us opted to place theirs on the floor.

Went here for my spouse's birthday. I was satisfied--up until the main course. That's where things started to go downhill. The first and second courses (served together) were a delight. The soup had nettle in it, which gave it a surprising kick I really enjoyed. The salad was equally fresh and well-balanced. The third course--a creative take on a samosa--was flavorful and well-executed. Definitely a highlight. The fourth course was their spin on a Vietnamese crepe, but it fell flat for me. The portion was too small to be satisfying, and the vegan fish sauce had a very off-putting taste that overshadowed the dish. I was genuinely disappointed. Dessert was a twist on gulab jamun. Maybe it's my Indian tastebuds, but the jamun itself was far too hard--I had to wait nearly 10 minutes before I could even get into it. The rose syrup was thin and didn't add much, but the ice cream was a saving grace. Infused with cardamom and spices, it tasted just like chai and was absolutely divine. We opted for the non-alcoholic drink pairings and were pleasantly surprised--they were creative, well-thought-out, and complemented the meal nicely. However, small things added to the letdown. For example, the toilet flush was constantly leaking--something that took away from the otherwise upscale atmosphere. Overall, it's a good restaurant with clear creative ambition, but the experience didn't justify the $350 price tag for me. Great for novelty or a one-time visit, but not somewhere I'd return often.

Pricey.. with tip it was $300 for 2. BUT... the dinner was phenomenal. The asparagus soup was a 10. The bread and hummus a 10, the mushroom paella a 9 . The mixed salad a 10. The thing that fell flat for me was the dessert but my wife had no problem eating mine

Five-course, prix-fixe, vegan dining that was impressive. Made last minute reservations via Opentable. We had trouble with our Lyft getting there, and it felt like everyone was waiting for our arrival to begin. Yikes. Small intimate setting that is warm and inviting. I opted to do the wine pairings with the meal. Prior to the start of dinner, Head chef came out and described each dish and explained which farms the vegetables or fruits came from or were foraged from and introduced all the cooks and servers, too. Nice introduction of everyone. 1st & 2nd: Local corn chowder topped w/applewood smoke corn alongside heirloom tomato salad w/fresh fennel, pickled red onion, lime, glazed melon in a miso yuzu vinaigrette 3rd: Tamari marinated beet poke & black forbidden rice on grilled baby lettuce w/shishito peppers & pine nut wasabi creme topped w/wakame & toasted sesame 4th: Wild foraged "Lobster" mushroom cake with fried garlic green beans & German style red new potato salad finished w/house pickle remoulade 5th: Vanilla bean panna cotta with wild foraged huckleberry gelee & peach preserves topped with cinnamon streusel. Menu was inventive and delicious. Service was excellent. We had a great time.

I still left 20% tip for order taker to put the food on the table after that they never checked how was the food or anything since you pay upfront so cannot do anything about. Even the burger i ordered does not come with fries even after paying so much for a burger. I would not recommend this place as i would rather go to other restaurant and i can pay same amout where i get atleast tap water or cutlery.

Unfortunately, this visit was overshadowed by a frustrating service experience that took away from what could have been an enjoyable meal. Ambiance - 4/5 The restaurant maintains its familiar modern-casual atmosphere: lively, efficient, and designed for quick turnover. Despite the busy environment, the space remains relatively comfortable and clean, making it an easy spot for casual group dining. Authenticity - 4/5 The menu reflects classic Northern Chinese comfort dishes and Taiwanese-inspired small plates fairly well. The xiao long bao and noodles still capture the approachable flavors that made Dough Zone popular in the first place. Flavor - 4/5 The food itself was enjoyable. The xiao long bao were flavorful with properly developed broth inside, and overall execution from the kitchen remained consistent. No complaints regarding the dishes themselves. However, what became frustrating was a conversation regarding the Dan Dan noodles. I asked whether the dish contained pork -- a perfectly reasonable question, especially considering authentic Sichuan-style Dan Dan noodles traditionally do contain minced pork. Instead of answering professionally, the waitress responded dismissively: "Since when does Dan Dan noodles have pork?" That response was both inaccurate and unnecessarily condescending, particularly toward a guest who clearly understands the cuisine. Service - 2/5 This is where the experience declined significantly. The waitress came across as rude, dismissive, and surprisingly uninformed about a very standard Chinese dish. Hospitality aside, basic menu knowledge should be expected. To their credit, the service lead attempted to recover the situation by comping one order of xiao long bao, which I appreciated as a gesture of accountability. Without that effort, this review would likely have been lower. Cost - 4/5 Dough Zone continues to offer good value for the quantity and quality of food. Pricing remains one of its strongest advantages, especially for group dining. Final Thoughts Dough Zone succeeds where many casual dumpling chains do: affordable, tasty food served quickly. But strong kitchens can only carry a restaurant so far when front-of-house hospitality breaks down. The food earned the 3 stars. The service nearly brought it down to 2.
