Before I get to the good part, why is it that every restaurant around here has a waitstaff that is one way or the other inept. I don't dobut it is a hard job but let me state the requisite skills. Drink orders, should be filled quickly and one out of four should not vbe forgotten (10 minutes os way too long). The food of all diners should be brought AT THE SAME TIME. Not when the kitchen gets around to it. Don't hover around tables (never a problem) but don't disappear like there was a shift change mid-meal and nobody was assigned the table (always a problem). If something on the plate looks wrong, sort it out with the kitchen before serving. If you can't bring a side with the meal dont bring it 10 minutes later The staff here are very nice, but I have experienced every one of these problems here and at every restaurant in Northern Va and many in DC as well. If this restaurant cured these problems (and one peculiar to this reaturant, delicious flatbread pizas that can only take 8 minutes to cook, but 30 minutes to serve and this was as one of the first seatings for dinner) I would give it a 4.5 because the food is very good, love the small plates, bacon jam is amazing, and dessert can be so good that we take it go when there is no room for it (best cupcake ever--one maitre d said he once scoffed down 3 which seems either amazing or improbable) and the room is really great. I have eaten here 5 ot 6 times and I will return because the episodic poor service has already been factored in but it is unecessary and unfortunate. I think it comes down to a lack of training. The Hilton used to offer valet parking and then stopped, now this is really stupid if you have a restaurant you want to promote. I think the Hilton thinks it is enough to have a restaurant to service their guests. I have been here only once, but once is enough for me to give shower this place with praise. As everyone else has noted, the bar inside the hotel lobby is gorgeous, drinks we had were great, the restaurant is gorgeous, the service is top notch without any attitude, the food was great. With such opulence in a hotel, I would have expected the prices to be really expensive. While there were a few high ticket items on the menu, there were an equal number of relatively cheap items on the menu including burgers and pizza. I can report that for me and my party, items from both price ranges were outstanding. One thing of note as well was the very personable and friendly hostess that we encountered on a Friday evening - that was a great 1st impression! I really enjoyed my time at Harth and will def be back many more times in the future. read more

Quickly: - The bacon jam is a good idea but unbalanced. - The veal sweetbreads were 100% unseasoned. - The foie gras was mediocre and it was served alongside the wrong kind of bread that was really too soft, and there was not nearly enough. This dish needs to be rethought. - I had the petite filet and it was nicely cooked with a decent sauce and a nice bacon wrapped potato. I want to like Harth, but it's so hard to when service is painfully slow, prices are steep for quality of food, and food is mediocre. I visited for breakfast and had the biscuit with ham and egg. The biscuit sandwich was good, but at $10, came with potatoes that were dry and old tasting. The whole meal, I had to flag wait staff down to ask for more coffee, ketchup, and the bill. Eek, not the most pleasant breakfast experience. After being seated we asked what the wait time would be for omelettes, as we only had a half an hour to spare. Our waitress told us ten minutes. We each ordered and didn't receive our food for 30 minutes. In addition, they served one of us the wrong omelette altogether and when they said they'd replace it, we were not about to wait another 30 minutes to receive the correct one. We scarfed down our tiny, overpriced, incorrect omelettes in less than a few minutes because at this point we were late. They charged us for the incorrect omelette and made us wait another ten minutes while they figured out how they were going to reimburse the incorrect meal. This has been one of my favorite restaurant experiences due to the likeability of Chef Tom and their mixture of high end decor/ambiance, as well as community involvement in local farms and even their own garden! if you get a chance to tour their garden, you can see all the herbs and veggies they grow and use in their dishes. if you look on the roof above the ballrooms, you can see the tops of Harth's own beehives. kind of awesome that they grow their own food as well as source local farms. over two visits i have had the following: roasted beets roasted brussel sprouts roasted cauliflower roasted mushroom flatbread pork chop veal shank i'd recommend any of these dishes. the place has been consistent across both visits and i look forward to going back read more

This is a really tucked away restaurant hidden among the tall office buildings in McLean. It's away from the hustle and bustle of Tysons. The day that I went, the restaurant was pretty dead until I left. I ordered a Nojito...their version of the Mojito, which was turned out very good. They offer you the drink menu via an IPad. The only problem was the server forgot about my drink and after being reminded, I got it after I finished my appetizer. The bread that came with the meal tasted freshly baked, and I enjoyed the bacon jam and other spread that came with it. The french onion soup was good, but not outstanding. I had high hopes for the smoked oysters, but they had more fake smoke trapped under the cover than real smokey flavor. They were overcooked. For my entree, I ordered the braised short rib, which was really tender and flavorful, but it was quite small, and was really marbled. I have been here twice so far and plan on going again very soon (tomorrow). The first time I went was on a whim when I was passing through. I yelped the nearest restaurant and this is what I found. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a low key atmosphere. The staff is all very welcoming and friendly despite their silly sunshine themed outfits (orange shirts and orange ties). Both times, I have been served by JP and IF YOU GET A CHANCE ASK TO BE SEATED IN JP'S AREA!!! He is a very well spoken and interesting server but is just the right combination of being friendly while not intruding on your dining experience. The first night, I ordered the lobster lasagna per his recommendation and I seriously had a dream about it that same night. It is UH-MAZE-ING. 5 stars for service, decor, and taste! Nothing will put you more at ease than this. The atmosphere is perfect for any situation - professional, romantic, family. With natural woods and white it makes you feel like you're in some sort of elite forest. The service is incredible - I didn't have to think once "when is the waiter coming?" while on the flip side, a waiter didn't approach unless I needed something. It was seamless. They serve you bacon jam to start, and even though I don't eat red meat I tried it and it was delicious. Obviously a major hit with everyone else. They keep their own bees at the top and everything is from local farms so you are also supporting the local economy. Flatbreads are delicious..mussels were too! I got the lobster ravioli which was a delicious fusion. They also give you iPads to discover their extensive wine list (they have a beautiful wine room). If you want to impress anyone - this is the place to bring them. No need to comment on the ambiance and decor, as all other reviewers have covered that extensively - the place is beautiful and elegant. My problem with this place is their weekend brunch. They offer a la carte breakfast during the week and it's decent, however in the weekend, they only offer buffet. The issue is compounded by the fact that is a BAD buffet, mostly stuff I would not eat for breakfast. I stopped by one weekend and kindly asked the restaurant manager if they would allow us to order breakfast from their weekly breakfast menu. His replay was "If I allowed you to do that, EVERYONE would ask me for the same". Well....shouldn't that tell you something???? Last time I checked, a business is only successful if they answer the needs of their customers, but apparently this guy has not gotten the memo. I chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner because a review in the Post made it sound interesting. I thought it had promise, but is not yet ready to deliver. First, a few words about the service. I don't think I have ever seen such disorganized service in my life. All of the waiters seemed to be working all of the tables, and they scurried around like ants, but without organization. Much of the time, we had two or three waiters at a time or in a row, and then when we wanted dessert menus, nobody approaced for about 15-20 minutes, and then only to ask if we wanted the check. On the other hand, the wait staff was all friendly, and when my wife left the choice of her glass of pinot noir up to the waiter, he chose the lower priced wine, and it was quite good indeed. As to the food, I was a little underwhelmed. My chicken and mango salad special was good, but a bit too cold, while my wife's romaine salad was essentially a pretty typical caesar salad. My main course -- Maine Lobster Lasagna -- a deconstructed form of lasagna, was interested, and the lobster was absolutley fresh and sweet, but I was not sure that the various parts worked that well together. I think I admired it more than I enjoyed it, but would still rate it pretty good. My wife's short ribs, however, were pretty pedestrian. Dessert was fine but now outstanding. again, i seemed to have made the better choice -- fresh apple tart with cinnamon ice cream. The apples and ice cream were delicious, the pastry somewhat bland and a little burned in spots. My wife had the special of raspberry creme brulee, as she is a real fan of good creme brulee. Alas, this was only fair, and not neatly creamy enough. Prices seemed pretty reasonable for this type of restaurant, particularly if they can develop consistently to their apparent level of talent. The only price I question is $16 for a single glass of pinot noir, and thiw was the lower priced offering. Wow I wish we had the experience that other diners had. We were not impressed. Planned to go here for Mother's Day lunch/brunch and booked 1:45 table after finding that most other places in the area were already booked up. After being seated and chatting/catching up we were informed that the kitchen closed ten minutes ago and we should place an order. Server was not terribly informative or even pleasant. Only positive really, was that they called me after I booked on open table, to confirm and also make sure we knew they weren't having a buffet brunch, which was fine but the extra effort just in case was nice. I feel like we should have only gone to this restaurant if we were staying at the hotel for convenience sake. Not special or worth venturing out to otherwise. There isn't a bathroom in the restaurant you have to cross the whole lobby to the other end for a restroom. Decor was modern but almost seemed like trying too hard. Everyone at the table felt their food was just okay. Definitely will plan on making a Mother's Day reservation elsewhere next year. ***Update- Megan from management reached out to us to apologize for our lackluster experience. They are mailing us vouchers for four to come back for lunch and give Härth another chance. Definitely appreciate their dedication to customer service. An über chic restaurant, Harth is located within the Tysons Corner Hilton Hotel and is as magnificently designed and decorated as the hotel itself. The ambiance is one of sophistication and artistry with a centralized theme of fire; "harth" being synonymous with hearth of a fireplace or being fireside. The motif and decor makes Harth perhaps one of the most beautiful restaurants I have ever been to by far, and has been the inspiration to the redesign of the kitchen and living room in my home. Harth's menu is relatively small and simplistic. There are approximate five dishes of each category; appetizer, salad, and entree. Utilizing local farms in the Virginia and Maryland area, the menu also varies with each season. There are some distinguishable staples that do not change, the homemade bacon jam, sweet ketchup, and pickles. I recently ordered the Aramolitti with fig and pecan which was outstanding. It was delightfully rich, flavorable, and tangy with a hint of lemon to the sauce. Perhaps my favorite item here is the turkey sandwich offered on the lunch menu and offered on the bar menu. The wheat bread, thick slices of turkey meat, and cranberry mayo makes for a delicious creation and is accompanied with homemade chips. The flat bread pizza is good but not memorable. Regrettably, I should of ordered the flat bread pizza with the prosciutto instead of the Margherita. The prosciutto is carved by order and is generously portioned. The service is good but not great for the caliber of restaurant Harth is trying to portray. While it is nothing specific, it is really an overall and encompassing attention to detail in maintenance of tables such as pre-bussing and timeliness of replenishment of beverages, Harth is trendy and chill, but as expected it is pricey. So it is a nice place for a business lunch or dinner, birthday, date, or for a couple cocktails on the patio close proximity to the gas pit (sans snow of course). read more

We came here for a post-wedding brunch, and like the rest of the hotel, it's super modern and clean looking, with large booths and tables and even a fireplace in glass. The night before we also got some late night flat bread (margherita) and lobster rolls at the bar, which definitely hit the spot. Sunday was a brunch buffet, and they had a pretty good set up. They have lots of fresh cut fruit including strawberries, pineapple, melons, and also greek yogurt and fat free yoplait. They have your standard cereals and 3 kinds of milk (non-fat, full, 2%). The more unique items include the freshly baked giant muffins, still in a pan, with flavors like apple cinnamon. They also had bagels, English muffins, pound cake, and bread, but the best part was the FRESHLY baked still warm and flaky croissants! Then my favorite part of the display (presentation wise) was the beautiful red Le Crueset dishes of breakfast potato wedges, sausage, bacon, and scrambled eggs. In addition to the buffet items that are out there, they also do made to order omelettes, which they bring to your table (much nicer than waiting in line for a chef to make it in front of you). They also have their own house made ketchup, and I'm not even a ketchup fan, but their's is just the right amount of sweetness and tanginess. They also had cool shot glasses of juices like carrot and even an Odwalla superfood type of drink. Coffee is also nice and strong. The staff was very friendly and cheerful but not intrusive, and the decor is pretty awesome. Definitely a very cool place for brunch or late night food, and it's much better than your typical hotel restaurant. I'd actually come out of the way to eat here even if I wasn't staying at the Hilton. read more

The decor at Harth is upscale, yet looks welcoming. The wine collection they use as a wall backdrop is very pretty. The bacon jam they give you with bread and butter as an appetizer is amaaaazing. That sweet and salty combo works. I got the margherita flatbread, which was a good size for being $11.75. It was my friend's birthday so they treated her to a very rich, chocolate cupcake. Service could be better though. Waiter came a century later to get my friend tissues so she could spit her gum out (they have cloth napkins), and I guess it takes a while for them to give you change back if you pay with cash. read more

Very flavorful and goes well with my cocktails. I had the Pama Fizz which is champagne and pomegranate. It's pretty in pink and bubbly in the glass. I also tried the Hive, and it was a bit strong for me, but still very good cocktail. My favorite is the Pear Martini, as the name implied, it's pear flavored martini. If we didn't have the coupons it would have been $53 for just the two of us to eat at the breakfast buffet. The food at the breakfast buffet consisted of cereal, fruit, eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, bakery pastries (muffins were hard), home fries & a few other items. Harth impresses with its farm-to-table cuisine. As you enter the restaurant, you can admire their hydroponically grown greens, which are served in their salads and sides. On the rooftop of the building, they maintain 200,000 honey bees (under the domain of four queens), who produce the honey used in their cocktails and desserts. Harth is a restaurant that prides itself on using high quality, locally sourced ingredients, that are presumably fresher and more delicious than commercial ingredients sourced and shipped by traditional suppliers. Perhaps more importantly, the food itself is delicious. My wife and I ordered their roasted octopus, heirloom pork chops, and NY strip steak, and were impressed by everything. The steak in particular was spectacular. The kids menu was also a hit, with the roast chicken being a top pick. The food was a little slow to arrive, but I chalk that up to the chef's deliberation. Service was excellent, and our waiter was Juan, who was both charming and knowledgeable. He also recommended and comped us a delicious dessert with a piped chocolate congratulatory message when I mentioned it was my wife's birthday. Harth is located in the Hilton, but is well worth a visit for those not staying at the hotel. The decor and atmosphere were well suited for a date night, with banks of glass-enclosed fireplaces embedded into several of the booths. For a special occasion, I recommend requesting seating in a booth with one of the fireplaces. read more

Went for the Sunday Brunch Buffet. The croissants were excellent, as was the fruit preserves, fresh squeezed juices, and fresh fruits. The staff was also very, very good. Anything you wanted, they would try to get to you as soon as possible. Really enjoyed the service. The sad parts were the bacon and sausages, which were sitting in a pool of oil, and the french toast, which was hard and old tasting (although I saw another batch come out later, which looked much better). We had 2 bottles at the table and our glasses were empty for at least 15 min so we decided that we shouldn't wait any longer. If this claims to be a 4/5 star restaurant, the service has to be up to par. 2nd, the food was not very impressive. The sirloin skewer app was very tender. The bbq pork shoulder was dry and meat was tough. My friend as the Lamb dish and she said she had better. The rice was oily and meat was not as tender. My other friend had the strip steak and she said the same. Very little flavor. The 4th friend had the scallops and I think she's the only one that finished her plate. Third visit and I continue to be impressed. This is not your average restaurant at a hotel. It's in the flagship Hilton, right next to the WW headquarters. I assume because of its proximity, they have taken great pains to ensure a wonderful ambiance as well as very good food. The setting is perfect for both a romantic dinner or a business get together. Friday was the third time that I have eaten there. i started with a house salad and then had the mushroom risotto - excellent! And the bacon jam that accompanies the bread is always delicious...I can't stop myself! I also want to comment on the service. The wait person that we had was outstanding - she was always there and all of the waitstaff served to perfection. One small example: We had called ahead to inquire about corkage. The person that answered the phone told us that it was $20. When we showed our wine, our wait person told us that it would cost $25 for corkage. When we repeated what we had been told when calling, she quickly said that they would honor the $20 charge. I don't get that response often! read more

Great ambiance for a date, date with another couple or with a group of girlfriends. Think modern ski lodge in Switzerland done with a 70's twist. The lighting is brighter than the photos I've seen on Yelp. It's not so night clubby. The light is medium but not dark like I originally thought. Service was a overly attentive. The bf got an omelet. And fresh squeezed grapefruit juice which I thought was a good substitute for the standard OJ. I can't remember much more. It was a beautiful restaurant. And man, the hotel lobby is gorgeous as well! Just know you'll be surrounded by mostly business men. My server acted a bit weird when I asked about the free small jar of bacon jam for checking in on Yelp but brought he did bring it in a little bag at the end of the meal. He was a bit slow and going through the motions but professional.
