Patty Melt (lettuce wrap) with potato salad
Emily S.

Came to Harlow's Café for a business lunch - not my choice of restaurant establishment. I decided to order the potty mount with a lettuce wrapper to avoid any gluten or processed bread. It tasted all right, but was very greasy and heavy on the onions (that were not cooked enough). I did appreciate our servers attention to detail and making sure to accommodate my dietary requests. I just didn't love the quality of the food here. It was very greasy spoon which isn't my preference but they do seem to be loved by long time Patrons.

Moved back to the Valley after being gone for almost 20 years. This used to be one of my husband's favorite places to take clients and he was excited to return and it did not disappoint! They were busy on a Sunday morning (got there at 10:30) but we were able to get two spots at the counter. Kendall took care of us and did a great job. In fact, I noticed the whole group of servers really had a team approach - filling up syrup cups for each other, grabbing a jelly or creamer for another - and everyone had a smile and positive attitude. I ordered the Sierra Omelette and it was delicious! Loved the spice and definitely got my protein intake for the day! The beef was super tender and tasty. I got a biscuit with it and it was good, a little dense (I prefer a flakier buttermilk style) but it was warm and had a good flavor. Hubby had bacon and eggs with a Blueberry Muffin. His bacon was cooked perfectly and his muffin was amazing! Not too sweet, moist, warm with just the right amount of blueberries. Sooooo good (yes, I stole a few bites!)!! Restaurant had that great diner feel, super clean, and the bathroom was well maintained. And I loved the table of cocktail napkins. Kendall told us the story behind them...order a cocktail and you'll find out. I wished we lived closer but the 40 minute drive will be worth it when we return! Oh...and the coffee was delicious.

Oops cheese visibly not melted

Went after Rockclimbing with my group of 6! Atmosphere very homey, food let's say "may have not been for my personal preference" No matter for others. I ordered a 'bean_cheese burrito, hash brown came with it. The burrito came 'cold with visual shredded cheese not melted. I never like sending food back but one of the group members took that on. Waiters very nice/Understanding. Note! If you go in a gruop of 6 or more they will not split the bill individually!!! The Atmosphere is definitely comfortable/chilled. I definitely recommend but not for me

This is one of those oldies but goodies cafe's that have endured the test of time. Not sure how long it's been in business but from the cliente it looks like a cult following. There are some long standing return customers. Everyone seems to agree the chorizo and eggs is the go to for breakfast. The eggs Benedict were pretty good. I can understand why customers become loyal. It's nice to see servers being friendly, attentive and performing as they should. The decor screams old Hollywood. Gene Harlow cafe. Makes sense. Thank you

Haven't been here in a long long time.. and this place hasn't changed at all.. Defin a local hole in the wall spot in Tempe. The food was good and the service was good could have been better but can't complain.

"Harlows".... Yes it's centered around classic cinema, with wood paneling, classic movie posters & celebrity pictures as decor. Parking can be tough but don't give up. The food is delicious, service is awesome & coffee is hot n . Plenty of seating, booths, tables ,bar , you choose. The "early bird special" 8-11am was the best deal, as the menu is a tad expensive but I've heard the portions are large. I ordered the really bird egg muffin sandwich with hash browns it's very good, more homemade style. Hash browns are more like home potatoes (cubes with seasoning). I like it & you should too. Great job Eva; your service is exceptional, the smile is beautiful & your attention is spot on!

This place is located on SW corner of University and Hardy, West of ASU. We stopped in to pickup food for brunch. The Reuben (see photo) was a great size for the price. And the meat was very well prepared. Potato salad was a healthy serving and very good as well.

French toast with a side of green pork chili

I love Harlow's afraid to review because it will get even busier than it is . It's a great old school cafe without the greasy spoon food. The French toast is thick and soft the green pork chili is out of this world , the home fries are crispy and the coffee is simple . Reminds me of the diners growing up back east . I often will sit up at the counter if on my own and have met both the owners and the staff . Always so friendly and proud of what they do . But make sure you order a drink . They have a table of unique napkins and the server will choose one based on your personality or occasion. Love supporting small business

Long time been on my list for breakfast spots to try. But I don't go out for breakfast often so this was a treat! Harlow's was delicious. Everything we ordered was yummy and quickly prepared. Service was great! It was busy on the weekend but our wait for a party of 3 wasn't very long. Maybe 10-15 mins at 10am. I'm sure if going earlier it would have been no wait. I called to see if they take a name on the list or rez, nope just waiting upon arrival. That wasn't surprising. It's a small breakfast restaurant with fun decor and still very mom and pop vibe. I'd definitely go back and try the creamed chipped beef on toast, as it's a speciality but they were sold out by 10am.

Love it here I love that it's hasn't changed in years, you know that saying if it's not broken don't fix it well this place is the definition of that food was amazing like if my mom made it bacon was crispy just they way I like it eggs scrambled not over cook like some places I have been too and the pancakes yum!!! Our server was good come every so often to check on us, my husband has been there before and he had her last time too and she recognized him quickly that a plus for us to be honest with you... I love the feel wood panels and autographs photos of different celebrities that have been there I loved it here we will definitely be back but in my car and not his bike lol

Harlow's is a Tempe gem! Very good food served in generous portions. Fresh baked muffins are always a must! Great diner vibe with great service. Always busy, so plan for a short wait, but It'll be worth it! Bring cash and save a couple bucks on your bill.

Cottage cheese

The food portions were huge. I ordered a chorizo burrito. I also ordered a side of cottage cheese. Both were generous portions which makes up for the somewhat pricey menu. My husband ordered a two egg breakfast named after someone but I couldn't find it on the online menu. He said the bacon was really good. The potatoes were just potatoes. Eggs were cooked to his liking. I would definitely go again. Service was good and food was fast despite them being busy. It's an old school kind of place with old signs, photos and knickknacks. If that's your cup of tea, give them a try!

Arley L.

Cute small cafe, nice and fast service with cafe style breakfast. The Breakfast burritos are a pretty good size that will leave you full. Coffee is good and their Ice Tea is delicious as well. Bisques and gravy were a bit disappointing. Bisques were a bit dry and hard around the edges and the gravy lacked flavor, it was pretty plain. But everything else was delicious and would definitely come back!

It had a really nice upscale feel while still being relaxed and comfortable. The cocktails were excellent, the food was delicious, and even the music playing overhead was on point. It was the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to sit back, enjoy yourself and keep sipping cocktails. I did have a few but my favorite was the floor is lava, while my wife enjoyed a classic margarita. They also have a really nice kids menu and some great appetizers, so it worked perfectly for our family. Our waiter, Elias, was very nice and told us that Eureka was known for their burgers. Well, he was right! The burger was excellent and those truffle fries with the fresh grated cheese on top were absolutely delicious. You can have your burger cooked to whichever style you like, I like medium myself. I would order both again without hesitation. The service was another highlight. The manager even came out to help bring our food, and you could tell everyone was working together. The entire staff seemed to be in sync, which was really nice to see. This was easily one of my favorite places we visited while in the area. Great food, great cocktails, great atmosphere and excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would absolutely come back. All I have to say is... Eureka!!

We choose to sit indoors. The restaurant is very cozy with dimmed lighting to add to the evening ambiance. It has a casual feel but you can dress up or down. Some people were casual and some more dressed up. We were seated at the front by the stage where live music was about to start. I thought this would be nice since I do enjoy live music. Well the speakers were facing right at our table and it was noticeably loud when the entertainer began to play. We asked for another table. We could not hear ourselves talking. I ordered a cocktail, The Giddy Up Espresso Martini. That was very delicious! They do have a full bar, it's nice to have choices as far as alcoholic beverages. Our food, Fish & Chips, BBQ Nachos, Aged Manchego, Crusty Bread Garlic Oil & Balsamic, and Molinari Sopressata. Everything was absolutely delicious! The fries with the Fish were perfect. My favorite besides the Martini. was the Crusty Bread with Olive Oil and Balsamic. Our server was the best! Amiriya made sure our drinks stayed filled and asked us what we thought about the food. Even on this busy night. After our meal we walked around the outside seating and game area. This place is a fun place to meet with others especially with the outdoor/patio game area. I would love to come back when in AZ.. But, I don't have to wait until then because we have a CD restaurant in the San Diego area! Woohoo! I can't wait to try some other dishes and have another Espresso Martini. I probably would pay for a shot of Bailey's added to the drink. The space is so bright and sunny. I love the cute style of the little diner lots of yellows to help you wake up. There is a bar area to sit inside at a big picture window overseeing the Novus Place structure and greenspace. There is a lot of outdoor seating for the nice weather months. They have a drink bar for special cocktail drinks and coffees. They had little league championships on the tvs. The menu doesn't have a lot of vegetarian choices listed but they do have many gluten free options. I special ordered my chiliquiles without chicken with no issues. The waitress even offered to check on the sauce to see if there were any animal based broths in the recipe. The dish was so flavorful topped with sour cream, and very fresh tomatoes and green onions in the salsa. The tortilla chips were perfectly done not soggy like they can get if not prepared carefully. I ordered my eggs scrambled and they were very cheesy and so delicious. I ordered a single pancake as pancakes are my favorite breakfast food. I can say it was perfectly fluffy and tasty and I am picky about my pancakes. My husband ordered a California Omelet he said it was absolutely delicious with very fresh vegetables. His exact words were this was night and day from the first time we came. I am so happy to say that we will definitely be returning, confidently bring out of state visitors, and recommend this cute diner to others. For locals I noticed they offer a day with 20% for students and faculty at ASU. I am very pleasantly surprised by the difference from the first experience. The management was very respectful and receptive. I appreciate it so much when a business can work to make things right. Thank you for the wonderful breakfast experience I really wanted to like this little brunch place in the Novus Plaza. As a vegetarian it is often hard to find good choices at a standard restaurant. Usually breakfast, brunch style is the best for me because I still eat dairy and eggs. I can't tell you how disappointed I was with the food. The menu was cute and had trendy food from their "As Seen on TV" menu from TV shows featuring certain recipes. I had high hopes as the reviews have been overall good. So after searching the menu for a good vegetarian choice I could only find pancakes and had to order my protein * scrambled eggs separately to fill out my meal. Saying the quality of my food was horrendous is an understatement. I haven't seen burnt pancakes since I was making them myself at 10 years old. Not only did they burn them but they served them to me that way. The cook obviously realized it because he put the worst burnt one on the bottom of the stack. I was so hungry so I tried to eat them but just couldn't yuck. . I enjoyed my scrambled eggs and watched my husband enjoy his bisuits and gravy which he said was decent. The server (singular) was so busy. He was running the bar area and the tables. Not totally his fault but he didn't get back to check on us until my husband had almost finished his entire meal and I still had burnt pancakes. He offered to get me something else but there was nothing else on the menu for me and the experience put me off of pancakes. The menu online looked like it had many more choices maybe the Tempe restaurant limited their menu, I'm not sure. I ended up getting a refund for my pancakes and going home hungry. The restaurant itself was adorable, it had a retro-ish vibe and the server really was trying to get to the 4 or 5 tables that had customers at the time.
