What an institution! We love their breakfast. It's a small space and always packed but the staff knows how to take care of their customers.

Our first time here. Flew into Phoenix and heading back home to Tucson. Our shuttle driver recommended and so glad we took him up on it. Great fresh food and exceptional, attentive service. Husband had the corned beef hash served with the best, freshest potatoes we've ever had! I had eggs over medium (perfectly cooked), sausage links and French Toast. The inside is based off of old movies which is a really cool theme for me. Old school diner look too. The food was pretty good, I had the Panco which was pancakes eggs and your choice of meat (I had bacon) and it was all good. Big pancakes! The servers all there were nice and very attentive, they all were helping each other pretty much too! The interesting part was that they serve their lunch menu all day, we went in at like 8 am and heard our table next to us enjoying cheeseburgers. Today sure looks like a good day...cloudy with a mild drizzle in Arizona. So , the kids and I decided to visit Harlow's Cafe a local spot that I visit with old friends when they are in town. A bit crowded and the air doesn't flow well but they have great tasting coffee. The portions are incredibly big and the servers are always smiling. We were seated almost immediately regardless of it being very busy and it took 3-5 minutes after to get our drinks. We ordered from a goid sized menu with a variety of items for even the weirdest taste buds. The close proximity makes it really hard to have a conversation and the restrooms are very small (nice but small) and there's usually someone already knocking on the door to let them in next. I'd hate to be in this place in a fire....out of respect for the folks eating here this morning, I didn't take any pictures. Just know it's a rather tight space and you might actually be seated next to a stranger close enough to rub elbows. Food review....the chicken fried steak n eggs was good, the gravy was great and the potatoes needed to be a bit less mushy n needed salt n pepper. Once the food arrived, the server disappeared and so did the idea of getting a refill on the iced tea. We did have another server walk by offering coffee refills. Overall the portions are great and the food is good. The environment is a bit hectic especially for folks that don't do good with cramped or tight spaces. The service was good but towards the end is just didn't do it for me...sorry but it just didn't. They have great tasting coffee and good portions for your hard earned cash. We stopped in as a family to eat. The server was not very happy to be there. The service was okay. Only got one refill on our drinks. The prices were high. The eggs were overcooked and the cheese was melted on top, not in the eggs. The pancake was raw in the middle. The chicken fried steak was raw as well. Needed to be cooked. Maybe another 5 minutes. We were not happy with the service or the food that was way overpriced. $60 for three people to eat. Ridiculous and that was with order one shared meal between two. We did order one shared pancake and it tasted like a Krusty pancake mix. One pancake for 8 dollars is crazy. read more

I drove by Harlow's a million times and finally dropped in for lunch. It has an old school restaurant, diner type vibe to it. We were seated right away and the waitresses were awesome with drink orders on the way quickly. We never had to wait for an Iced tea refill. The open faced roast beef was incredible and just like you'd think from a excellent local diner. I was looking for the turkey dinner but didn't see it. I found this place on Yelp! We were visiting Phoenix for Arizona Craft Beer Week. We arrived and they were extremely busy, we waited about thirty minutes for a table. It's an old unassuming building and it's wood paneling and pictures on the wall inside; I think it's been around for forty years or so. Service was a little slow from the start and coffees were delivered without spoons. I grabbed one from the bidder and our waitress said they were a little behind (totally understand). Once our waitress made contact she was awesome and the service was fantastic. I had the Sierra omelette and it came with toast, biscuit or a fresh made muffin! I went with the blueberry muffin. The muffin arrived hot and steamy and it was served with a butter flavored spread (minus points for this one, old school diners should use real butter). The three of us enjoyed our food and our experience here and we would most definitely return. read more

We were told a 45 minute wait. We've waited an hour they continue to call other groups of people that are either here or not here at all, it's hotter than hell out. The food can't be good enough to wait outside in AZ hell for some breakfast. Post quarantine review: 8.21.21 This is our go-to spot. Five stars all day! Support Local AZ!! The first time I came here I tried the Tiffany Omelette! And I was hooked! Just like that.. whammy! Been coming back here ever since.. Practically tried everything on the menu! And it's a LONG & Diverse menu too! Something from everyone, home cooked and made with love! Eggs Maximillian. (+ chorizo) Chill Willis Biscuits & Gravy Three of Clubs French Toast ( recently tried the gringo burrito) is off the menu; and has bacon egg cheese and potato! It's delicious! Everything is delicious! Their Jameson Coffee with Baileys is delish too and a great way to start the workday-- I mean day. ;) Yes they have a full bar! I highly recommend the Bloody Mary! Comes with a "Harlow's Cafe" signature engraved miniature Tabasco bottle. Their chicken fried steak is out of this world! (Lunch \ Dinner portion sizes are huge.) Old school since 1980. I asked my cousin where should we meet up for breakfast and he recommended this restaurant. I'm glad we met up here because it was spot on greasy spoon deliciousness. 1021 W University Tempe, 85281 Companion and I went for breakfast at Harlow's Cafe early one morning and were surprised to find that it was packed. I've been in many other places for breakfast and they don't usually get so full at opening time, but this was an exception. After perusing the menu, our wait person took our order. We started with cups of steaming hot delicious coffee. Everyone serves coffee, and a lot of it is bitter and poor, but this was really good. In addition, without having to ask for it we also were brought glasses of ice water. Companion ordered a "short stack" of blueberry pancakes. I place it in quotes because their short stack was bigger than many regular stacks that have been served to me. It came with a cruette of maple syrup. To say that these were terrific is an understatement. Loads of big blueberries in a nice matrix of pancake. Companion was not able to finish the plate! I ordered Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast, alias SOS. It has been many years since I last had it and to be honest, this brought back memories of when I was a lot younger. Slightly salty in a nice cream sauce served over slices of toast with hash browns I almost had tears in my eyes. The decoration of the place is very old fashioned with wood paneling on the walls and old time pictures hanging. Looking around at the others eating, revealed lots of people over 40 scarfing down big breakfasts. As soon as someone got up from their table, it was bussed, reset and another person sat down to enjoy a great breakfast. Companion and I will be back again to try other items on the menu. This place, and the people working in it rock! The place is buzzing with customers...and clearly many of them regulars. The biggest standout, though, was kindness. I was by myself, so I sat at the counter. Before coming in though, I had briefly chatted with an old-timer out front. As I was eating he came in and sat down at the counter. Clearly the staff knows him, and they greeted him and treated him with respect. He ordered a big hearty meal. The server, Ashleigh, was friendly, kind and attentive...nice. It didn't seem that she is the only one with the right stuff. Culture is everything, and this place has it. A neighborhood restaurant where good food, large portions, friendly service, and kind younger people are happy to serve. If you're looking for a place to restore your belief in people...and especially younger working people this is the place. I'm humbled by them. And...oh yeah, the food was awesome. Hallow's is only about 12 minutes to the airport so it's in a good location to grab a bite before your flight. The service was fast and friendly service, with a good variety to choose from. Our breakfast was a mixed bag. My husband ordered the chip beef. He said it was "OK" and the potatoes were good. I ordered the pancake breakfast. The sausage links were really moist and flavorful and the eggs were good. The pancakes were a bit disappointing; they were pretty dry and we had to use a lot of syrup. Bacon was thick and perfectly cooked (hard to find bacon that's not over or undercooked imo). The pancake was hard at the bottom and a little hard to cut. The syrup was watery. I'm more than confident this is going to be a great eating experience! The owner gave me the best coffee cocktail I've ever had and they even have signature mimosas!!! Trying to also order a meal to-go for my wife was rudely brushed off by our server, who had seemed annoyed the entire time, and who disappeared after the check was dropped off. I came here with my friends and husband for Sunday brunch and we were very impressed! It was busy so we knew it had to be good. The Bloody Mary and mimosa were delicious! I don't get what all the hype is about this place. I was there early February with my family on the way out of Tempe. It is typical coffee shop type food and pricy for what you receive. I went there because this had some of the best reviews around town. However , the food was just average and nothing special. But, they serve Farmer Bros. Coffee and it was made just right. The service was good though and the owner came to the table and introduced himself. Therefore, 3 stars for Hospitality & the good coffee. read more
