Solid 4/5 stars! Moved to Augusta few weeks ago and been craving some Korean food and giving Happy House a try was a great decision. My friend and I ordered some entrees to go and all the dishes met or exceeded expectations. The spicy ja jang myun sauce was perfect. We also had the option to make it extra spicy, but the noodles were too soft. The chicken katsu and sauce tasted good too. Wasn't greasy or overly fried, chicken was still tender inside. Cant get ja jang without tang soo yuk and their chicken tang soo yuk was pretty good! I'd say slightly too chewy on some parts, but the overall enjoyment of the dish including the sweet sauce made me feel like I was back in NJ. Definitely entrees cooked way better than other Korean restaurants I've been to in SC or Augusta. There's plenty of dining a space in the front and back of the store, decent size parking lot, but a very tiny bathroom. Overall facilities were kept well cleaned & maintained from what I've seen. The staff were friendly and our food came out fairly quick for the amount we ordered. I'll certainly be back again and I'm sure my friend who dined here with me would agree.

Certainly for Augusta and the surrounding area, this is about as authentic as you're going to get for Korean food. You'd have to go to Atlanta for anything better. I like the steamed egg soup. It's simple. The pork bulgogi is more of a stewed pork without any char on it. This is not unusual for this dish. There are versions where the pork is grilled but each place does it differently.

Looked for a Korean place to eat after work and found this place. Cute family own Korean restaurant, friendly and good foo my favorite place when I come to Augusta for work.

Found hair in the food wrapped around it so disgusting! Wear some hairnets if you're cooking! I can't eat here again!

They should wear hair nets. I went and spent 60.00 dollars on food for me and co workers just to find out there was a big long strand of hair tied into the food disgusting!!!

Very Tasty Seafood Glass Noodles with Soup and The Beef was Tender! The Servers were Willing to Assist With Helping With The Decisions On What To Get To Eat, and They Did It With A Smile, So Thats Always A Plus. Inside, I Only Wish The Decorations Stuck With The Theme Of The Food. Other Than That, I Would Definitely Be Visiting This Restaurant Again.

Stopped by for the lunch special, the amount of food and sides you get for $15.99 is amazing. It filled me up forsure. The food tasted authentic, the soup was great as well. Spice level was perfect. The service was quick and kind. Walking in it doesn't look like much but once inside it's bright and vibey. I enjoyed eating here and will come back next time I'm craving Korean

Was pleasantly surprised to find this location stopped by for lunch the food was fantastic!

The food was amazing and great customer service. It doesn't look like much on the outside but the food, portions sizes and customer service makes up it. I definitely recommend

I can always count on a Korean spot to be near a military base. Out of two Korean restaurants in close proximity to Fort Gordon, Happy House (HH) was the the only one open on a Tuesday night and also the closest, about 15 minutes away. It was COLD at Fort Gordon, at least a good 5-10 degrees colder than in Savannah, so I ordered my go to stew, Kimchijjiggae, to dethaw my soul. It came with a bowl of rice and a box full of 5 varieties of banchan, see pic. Direct translation: "ban" means 100 and "chan" means dishes, meaning 100 dishes. There are endless varieties of banchan which are side dishes in Korean cuisine and they accompany every meal. Think of it as a sampling session. Most restaurants in the US serve anywhere between 4 - 8 dishes. *Kimchijjiggae - This was a super generous portion. I am pretty sure HH's take out soup container is bigger than the standard pint size soup containers that most restaurants use. The mouth of the container was wider and felt pretty heavy. I'm a big eater, but no matter how much I ate, I didn't see the bottom of that container. *Kimchi - The Kimchijjiggae is only as good as its Kimchi and their regular Kimchi was pretty good. *Kongnamul Muchim (Mung Bean Sprouts) - This is one of my faves. It was well seasoned and I definitely finished this one! *Stir fried zucchini - I wasn't a fan of this one. It was plain, which is fine because sometimes, banchan can be plain, but it was too oily for me. *Spicy Korean Radish - Korean daikon radish is julienned and is mixed in a similar marinade as Kimchi. This was great too! *Cucumber Kimchi - crunchy and delicious My husband wasn't around to help me eat it, but it would have been plenty for the both of us. I felt awful for throwing out the uneaten portion, but I would have burst if I kept eating and had no way of keeping it for later. For about $17 and change, it was a little on the pricier side, but the portion justifies the price and you can share with a buddy and just order another app to share to make it a complete meal. - Service - I placed my take out order over the phone and left immediately to go and pick it up. I arrived within 15 minutes and the order was already packed and ready to go! It was well packed too (the soup container itself was packed with plastic wrap...the last thing you need is Kimchijjiggae leaking in your car. The lady who helped me was really nice and courteous. She handed me my card back with 2 hands which is a sign of respect in Korean culture, so for a non-Korean to be very aware and sensitive to a part of the customer base was of a nice touch! I'm sure the older Korean generation would be both impressed and appreciative of the gesture! Tip: If you are ordering this alone and have leftovers of banchan, that is, if you haven't eaten it all, mix any leftover rice, banchan and fry an egg, mix all together to make BiBimBap! - COVID Observations - * staff are wearing masks * masks are required to enter * Dining area is open, only 2 tables were occupied when I went, not sure if they are limiting capacity - take out available Stay safe, Friends!

The bean sprouts were a bit salty. Chili cucumber was well seasoned and refreshing, and the sliced fish cake was the highlight with a slight sweet and sesame oil flavor. Each dish supposedly comes with a banchan, but if you eat with another person, then you get 1 set of banchan only with 1 refill and additional refills cost $2.50 which was different from most cities I have been to with a more established asian food scene (Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, etc). jjajangmyeon 4/5: The jjajangmyeon had decent portions. The noodles were really nice and chewy, and the sauce on top had a slight sweetness to it that made it different from the chinese jiajiang mian I normally eat. There were plenty of zucchini and onion pieces, and the pork was tender and just a bit fatty which I enjoyed. Highlight of the meal. Kimchi Jjigae 3/5: The kimchi jjigae comes with kimchi, tofu, and pork pieces in a stew and a side of rice. The stew itself comes out piping hot but is almost 90% kimchi and minimal tofu and pork. Very few pieces of tofu and pork, unlike the jjajangmyeon which had more generous amounts of pork. The rice bowl it comes with is quite small. We ran out well before the kimchi stew was completed, and they charge $2 for rice refills. Overall, the food was decent and service is solid. Pricing was slightly steep with a bowl of jjajangmyeon (noodles with stir fry pork sauce overlying) running at $19 and a bowl of mostly kimchi and a few pieces of tofu/pork pieces costing $17. Their banchan/rice refill policy is questionable, but the food scratches the itch in a city with a smaller Korean population and minimal competition.

That right there was amazing! We ordered the pork Mandu for appetizer and beef bulgogi as main dish which came with 4 sides. Both were very well made and enough helping for 2. The owner, Ms. Min came in as we were finishing up and greeted us with a big, warm smile. She came to our table and chatted with us for a few minutes. Very sweet lady. It makes perfect sense that an authentic Korean eatery would thrive near a military base, and this one did not disappoint. Tucked away and unassuming, this tiny hole-in-the-wall has actually been around since 1999 -- a true mom-and-pop operation that feels like a well-kept local secret. Truly more of a takeout scenario... The food? Fresh, flavorful, and unmistakably authentic. All dishes cooked when ordered, so expect to wait... The Korean guy at register was very nice and helpful letting me use their bowls to eat in house... Just a heads-up: seating is extremely limited (think 8 people, max). And while the AC situation consists of a giant air blower with the doors flung open on a 90-degree day, it somehow adds to the charm. Pro tip: order takeout, or bring your own gochujang and dipping sauces -- otherwise, you'll have to purchase full-size bottles to use at the table (which you can take home). Quirky, no-frills, and absolutely worth it. Best Korean lunch deal in town!!! $9.99 Korean rice bowl lunch of meats with banchan and mandoo!!! And lots of sliced Kim Bap for $8!!! I'm a FaN!
