Let me start off with the store itself, there are ungodly amounts of flies in the restaurant, which makes me question the presence of maggots and other possible insects within the products. Second, I got the Bulgogi, which was tough, dry, and had very lackluster flavor as well. The Korean corndog was fine until I noticed a hair sticking out of the breading. Service was decent, it was just difficult to know whose order was being called out since they don't ask for a name, and the 50 minute wait time. He said Vegetables weren't included even though the menu clearly started vegetable included. He started screaming, "only one captain in the building". My grandma is Korean and we love bulgogi with that being said. This was not typical bulgogi meat. It is stew meat! It's really disappointing to think you are going to receive bulgogi but instead you receive stew meat. The spicy pork is decent the braised potatoes were made with russet potatoes and maybe if you didn't leave the skin on it would have tasted better?The stew meat threw off the flavor of the kimbap and it was just disappointing. Had to re-update my review from the last time I've been to Korean Express and changed it to 1 star. If I could give it 0 star review I would. I was extremely happy the first time I went in but this time I'm not. I got gimbap and there were multiple hairs in my food that I couldn't eat anymore. I'm very disappointed and will not be returning again. -------------- I've been missing Korean food from S.Korea and this is by far one of the best Korean American foods I had so far around Augusta. The owner is super friendly and nice. Portions are good. I regret ordering chicken bulgogi because of the meat (chicken teriyaki) and the taste is a tad bit watered down. Very hole in the wall -esque spot that will fill you up for around 10$. I always get the Bulgogi lunch special and it is more than able to satisfy my appetite. I have gotten both the pork and the steak, and personally have preferred the pork more. If you're a germaphobe I'd be weary. As stated, the selling point of this place isn't the appearance of cleanliness, rather it's food. That's not to say the standard precautions weren't taken in preparation, just that there isn't a stand out effort to make the physical location look nice. Service is great. Good hole in the wall takeout spot. Korean food is good and reminds me of a "Katusa style snack-bar" in South Korea (soldiers previously stationed in Korea will get the reference). This is my go-to Korean spot in the area. It's family run, the food is good, the portion size is excellent for the price, delivery is timely. You get side veggies with every meal order. Unless you're super hungry, one meal order will feed two adults or 3 kids. Add a kim bob or yaki (both also good) and you'll have more than enough food to go around. I ordered the Chicken Bulgogi Lunch Box (comes with vegetables, cabbage kimchi, yaki mandu and rice) and an eggroll. Upon 1st bite i was extremely impressed. The chicken Bulgogi had some sweetness and spice to it, but I love spicy food. The Egg roll was extremely good, which I didn't expect. The yaki was pretty decent. I've had better kimchi but it still hit the spot. The delivery was pretty quick, it took about 15 minutes. Expect it to be more of a fast food style Korean that sticks to traditional roots. There is no cooking of Meat and veggies over a burner, but there is some pretty good food! I'm no Korean food expert but it was overall a 4/5 for me! I ordered lunch takeout and for the price it can't be beat. Plus you get a whole container full of banchan, the side dishes that are served with every Korean meal. I ordered their pork bulgogi lunch special which came with rice and fried dumplings. The food was ready in 10 minutes which meant I was back at work and digging in quicker than most fast food places can turn around an order. The food for the price is a great deal and as I said, the turnaround is super quick. It's very small on the inside so while you could sit and eat it's just as easy as to do takeout. The owner was very friendly and their menu was pretty good. Another reviewer said they wished they had kimbap on the menu and I saw it under the appetizer section. Loved it before the soldiers complained about the wait for their fresh cook to order foods they offered. Tasted homemade but i can tell it's microwaved sometimes. I'm sure they do it so they can offer it faster. Chewy and sometimes the kimchi's offered taste overly preserved. Very friendly people- love their drink selections and wait time was never bad for me. The food is so fairly priced. You get so much food for such a good price. The food is freshly made. For example, the kimbab rolls are freshly rolled every day. It comes in two foam containers, one with meat and rice and the other with multiple vegetable side dishes (banchan) including cabbage and cucumber kimchi, radish, bean sprouts and more. Flavor was mediocre, however, and the kimchi was extremely salty. More of a takeout place, as there are only a couple of tiny tables. Also it felt as if the heater was on as we stood in the restaurant to wait for our food, and it was summer. If you're looking to pick up a filling meal, this is the spot for you. I really enjoyed visiting this place. I always pass by and I have been curious to try the food. I like to think I know what good Korean food tastes like. Because I am Korean ;-) of course. So this place is good for take out and delivery. They always seem to be busy. I'm guessing it's a family business. I saw two small tables and a TV so you can eat there if you are lucky to be there when they aren't busy. I was greeted by a young man with cool hair and i placed my order. Bibimbap and a side of the 16oz kimchee to put the taste to the test. I was told that I didn't have to pay until after I got my order. I sat down and waited for about 20 minutes as my food was cooked fresh. I heard a woman talking in the back, I think she is the main cook. There is a man with cool hair who takes the orders on the phone and puts everything together. I think he cooks too. Everyone here speaks good English as well as Korean. I was happy to see the Americanized Korean youths there speaking Korean and being respectful to their parents. I see a lot of military go and come to pick up their orders. These guys had at least 5 orders for delivery while we were waiting, people were willing to wait over an hour for their food. So far it felt good to be here. I asked for my bibimbap to have the gochujang "hot pepper sauce" on the side and not on my food. Yes they do give you a thick paste, but that is what is traditionally used to put on bulgogi and etc, however in most american restaurants they usually add water, honey, soy sauce, or even sesame oil in different combinations to make the paste runny. I do prefer a more watery ketchup like consistency for my gochujang but it was fine. So I received my order, it was packed well, two big containers and my container of kimchee. I paid the guy (I think the dad) some money... I had the best customer service ever...I was thanked and I thanked them. We said our Korean goodbyes, and we went home to eat. Yes this food is plenty enough for two people. The amount you get is worth the price. The vegetables were very fresh, Cooked well not mushy. The meat had a great flavor, but I would have liked it to be a bit more juicy. The egg was cooked right, the yolk ran down my eggs and was amazing looking and tasting. The banchan came in another box and was plentiful. I usually don't like the sweet sticky potatoes, but these were the best Ive ever had, and I've had Korean food from Hawaii and California as well as 3 other states...and most importantly from my mom. You do taste the love in it. Anyway. I liked this place. It's not fancy restaurant style, it's it's own style. It reminded me of local Hawaii kine small corner bbq. I'm not a big fan of fusion food, but I am very curios to try the wraps. This place impressed me, which is very hard to do. I wish I could come here everyday. I live for their Kimbob and fresh vegetables. The owners are always pleasant, food always fresh and hot. There are times that I place orders for delivery to my office(Fort Gordon). Haven't even tried this food we've heard so much about. We placed an order over an hour ago (almost hour and a half now). On the menu it says fast delivery..lol No one seems to know where our food is and it should be here they keep saying. Hopefully if it ever arrives its hot and hopefully it's as amazeballs as everyone says. Currently an extremely disappointed customer...
