It's name is Fuji, and it's listed as a Thai restaurant. Nothing inherently wrong with that. But when you break it down, it's sort a catch all Asian spot with a big menu. And it's fine. There just isn't anything particularly special about it. The food was fine. The service was fine. Not really a lot of atmosphere to speak of. The prices were decent. So were the portions. It's just your hodge-podge place that should have something for everyone. Full disclosure, I tend to prefer restaurants that specifically focus on one cuisine (Korean, Japanese, Thai, etc.). I don't think I'll be hurrying back. But I also won't avoid it. I ended up here once, and I'm not opposed to ending up there again. read more

Now here is a hidden, not so hidden gem for Thai food. We came in a Thursday evening right after work and were seated immediately. They have Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisine on the menu. I had the Tom Kha soup and pad Thai entree, my husband had the shumai and duck. Excellent flavor profiles. The soup was so good that I ordered one to go to take for lunch the next day. We will definitely be back because the sushi I saw delivered to other tables looked really good too. The plum wine was a good choice for dinner as well. The restaurant decor was dated. Wow! That's how I am going to start this review. The staff were so nice and we got our food promptly. Everything tasted so fresh and clean I loved it. I did think the amount of crab on top of the Volcano Roll was a bit too much but when I portioned it out it was heavenly with the California roll underneath. The next time we visit I definitely want to try more rolls as I didn't feel I got the best taste of what they can do here with the few we got (even though they were amazing). We had also ordered some General Tso's chicken which was really good though my fiancé noted it wasn't as spicy as he would've liked (I thought the spice level was nice and not unbearable). Lastly after we had finished our meal and packed up our left over we get a little surprise 'desert' of strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate chips. It sounds so simple but was 10/10. Tried take out from this restaurant as it was close to our house. Ordered chicken wings and pad Thai. My initial concernstarted when I see place empty on Friday night at 7pm Very disappointing. Wings must have been from a baby hen or pigeon and over cooked. My wife said this was like chewing the turkey on Christmas vacation with an oily taste. Laid back atmosphere and delicious food. There were lots of kids in the restaurant and they have a nice kids menu with noodles and fried rice in addition to the standards. We loved the generous servings of fresh perfectly cooked veggies in each dish. Even the tomatoes in the salad were flavorful and perfectly ripe in the middle of mushy tomato season. Anytime we are here the food is aways coming out steaming hot with nothing wrong with it. The employees here treat us like kings and are amazing they check on us quickly and food comes out great. So I recently learned that Fuji is actually owned by the same people as thai kitchen. I think the menu is the same (at least the usual items I order from thai kitchen are on the menu). I did however try something new....the house special udon noodles. They taste similar to pad see ew just with udon noodles and I think I actually like it with udon noodles more than than the wide rice noodles. My friend that also frequents thai kitchen also tried something new and enjoyed it. The friend that gets the same dish from thai kitchen said it tastes the same. I do like the seating more at this location as it seems more spacious. read more

Great variety in their menu. Everything we have eaten there is delicious. Service is great and very nice people.

When it's good, it's really good. I really wish they would be more consistent with their dishes. The lady owner, with whom I have a good rapport, was very rude; she wouldn't write down our order, hence why she forgot the appetizers, and when we reminded her, she was even more rude. The dishes are inconsistent. Unfortunately, because when they are made well they are phenomenal, we have decided that we won't be back for a while. We thought maybe she was having a bad day, and that turned into several, and then the rudeness was the only consistently cold dish. It's a shame because her husband is so kind and makes great sushi and makes dishes right if they come out wrong. We love him and are grateful for his dedication when we are dining. read more

One word "amazing"!!!!!! Since we first sat down our waitress was so attentive and sweet. The food was so delicious and full of flavor. We loved the egg drop so much we all ordered another each. The lunch special is the best songs. They have the best spring rolls, different Thai and Chinese options, and you get the cutest and most perfect sized dessert with the special. I notice this place is almost never busy which I'll never understand! Went here again after moving back and noticed they have changed the menu which was good! Love to see some change! This is a hidden gem! It's a sit down restaurant which is beautifully decorated with booths, tables and a full bar. We were in search of a sit down restaurant that served chicken chow mien for my 95 year old mother. It's right next to Cork a Flame but everyone needs to treat yourself to the excellent food Fuji Asian serves. The egg drop soup was perfect as was the chicken chow mien. My husband and I had Asian fish dishes with octopus, shrimp, scallops and mussels. All the fish and vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly. When we were done with our meal, they gave us the cutest small dessert on the house of strawberries in cream that was to die for. The menu covers all you might want from Chinese, sushi, hibachi, Thai and other items. Their menu is extensive. We will be going back and you need to also. I came here with friends on a whim since the korean restaurant nearby was closed, and we were not dressed or in the mood for cork and flame. It feels very familiar, like a mish mash of all the Asian cuisines just because we can and we have rice. It's trying to be japanese, chinese, and thai, which sometimes is difficult because they may not do it all well. Luckily, the beauty of that means it can be anything you want. My friends happen to order the same dish red duck curry, which tastes like a standard Thai curry. It was fairly flavorful and had a good portion of vegetables and meat. I got the fish ginger that was a great flavor and had a very light fry that maintained crispiness on the outside and tenderness on the inside. The service is decent, they bring the correct food and it was timely, however it wasn't busy so I would expect that. Nothing special but also not repulsive. I do think it's a place I might stop by again if I happen to not want to cook these things myself, so I give them kudos for that. Maybe next time, I'll venture into the sushi here, but judging by the rest of the menu, I would stick to hot foods. read more

This is hands down our favorite Chinese/Thai/Japanese restaurant in the Columbia County area. The people are so nice. The food is delicious and any level of spice you want, the gyoza and summer rolls are yummy! Best dishes are Kung Pao and the Spicy Basil. The hot and sour soup is very good too. The Bento Boxes are great also, oh, it's all good... The prices are very reasonable, as opposed to some of the other Asian restaurants in the area. Great value and great food. read more

Went here last night, ordered the Pineapple/Mango Thai Fried Rice, Teriyaki Chicken, and Hot & Sour Soup. All of it was strangely flavorless. I asked for mild spice in the rice and it was there but it just lacked any kind of flavor- like eating plain white rice that was dusted with Tabasco. The teriyaki chicken tasted rubbery and once again flavorless. Maybe I just got a bad batch that night, but I won't be returning. Hot & Sour soup and the added sugared dough were the saving graces. I have been to Fuji Asian on Evans-To-Locks Rd, 4 different times for lunch and each time I very much enjoyed it. I have tried the pad sie ew, pad Thai, walnut chicken, spring rolls, and calamari. The pad sie ew is my favorite entre. I've had shrimp in both pad Thai and pad. sie ew but the shrimp were rather bland each time. The beef and chicken is better with a very nice grilled flavor. I'm sort of on the fence about this place. It serves up a little bit of everything and there are some dishes that just knock it out of the park but they pair it with a fried rice that's truly under par at times but you've gotta remember that you're not in a big city so for Augusta, I'd give the food a solid 4 stars. I have a weakness for fried, greasy Americanized food that comes from a white takeout container with a metal handle. I never grew up with it and only discovered the joy of beef and broccoli over rice during college so the novelty hasn't worn off yet. That being said, I also have strict standards for soup, spring rolls and cuts of beef so it's not easy finding the balance between comfort food that doesn't cut corners. This restaurant has a really loyal clientele and you can tell right away when you sit down that there's a lot of love going on here. I rarely sit down and frequently pick up food on the way home but the few times I've had a proper sit down meal here, the service has never disappointed. I'm not a die hard fan of any one dish so I just pick a new dish every time and slowly make my way down the menu. Their chicken dishes are all on point and I'd recommend not getting a honey chicken, or General Tso unless you can plan on eating all at once. It just doesn't reheat well so try and plan on sharing or getting a lunch special. Their noodle dishes haven't disappointed yet but their curries can be a little lackluster in the fresh vegetable department and the Tom Yum soup was salty every time I've ordered it. It might just be the chefs preference to be general with the fish sauce but those are really my main gripes. I do prefer the sit down service because the servers are just so sweet. Even when it's just their first week, you can tell they've been trained to just take care of the customer and be honest about the uncertainty on menu items. I have eaten here a couple of times since moving to Evans and it is one of my favorite Asian restaurants in Augusta/Evans area. They offer Chinese, Japanese and Thai. I have ordered Chinese and Japanese food from them and they were both good. The restaurant is always very clean and not super busy. The food is always very good and food portions--I always have enough to split for another day. When the entrees, you get soup, salad, wontons and donuts. Love it. Me asking my wife, what do you want to eat? Her eyes glaze over as she says gyoza. Safe to say we come here if we can time the lunch special right. Parking is easy as they have their own lot and it isn't usually packed. We always grab a portion of gyoza which come with 8 and a nice sweet, but not overly sweet sauce. Being creatures of habit, she gets the generals tso and I get the sesame. The generals isn't too spicy but when you get a spicy part, boy is it spicy and it is deeeelicous! The sesame has a hint of sweetness and is reminiscent of sweet and sour sauce. The staff is always pleasant, they offer military discount, and have a huge bowl of dum dum pops for little ones, or even for you. Overall we will definitely be back. read more

Finally tried Fuji Asian. Quickly.. my review. Nice customer service. That was the 4 stars and hot food. We got the Volcano Chicken, spice level 4, and sesame chicken. The only way I can describe the flavors are if you are a fan of Panda Express.. as a comparison.. you will totally love this place.. but with better quality chicken. I think the steamed vegetables were frozen. Would I go back?? probably not. But worth a try. Ask for their spice rack with the chili pepper sauce and pepper vinegar.
