Doesn't look like much from the outside, but Dragon Express actually has really good take out food. First time here, I was impressed with their broad menu selection as they have your typical Chinese take out, but also wings & fries. It didn't take long before I got my food and service was fairly quick. I ordered the beef fried rice and beef with broccoli. Wasn't overly oily like some places and pretty flavorful. My friend who got the lo mein and hunan chicken said it was worth trying too. The portion side was very generous for the price paid, so if you're looking for a decent quality Chinese take out, this place is worth trying out. The food is good. I wouldn't dine in though. It's an old Huddle House that's been shoddily modified for more counter space. A decent section of the shore is unlit and corners of the store are littered with miscellaneous storage. Yes ! Great Wings ! I have been passing this restaurant every day on my way home and have been wondering about the wings. As a wing aficionado I gave in to my curiosity for a take out. In an old Huddle House building it lies by Bobby Jones right off Gordon Hwy. Went in & ordered 6 spicy wings from the nice counter staff. Was told it would be about 10 minutes and it was delivered to my seat with a "thank you" . Way above average size which was a pleaser! Great flavor too! Already planning my next wing attack. I got the Shrimp fried rice, egg roll, and cream cheese wonton. Everything was delicious except for the cream cheese wonton, the bottom of the wrap was not done. I put the cream cheese wonton's in the air fryer for 4 mins and they were much better. I called the order in and it was ready when I got there. The service was just OK. In the inside there is about 5 or 6 Booths for inside dinning...nothing special about it. The next time I'm in Augusta and I've got a craving for Chinese food I'll go back for more. We're fairly new to the area and was at Augusta mall and found this Chinese restaurant only 7 minutes away. Very low key spot. Not much business around and easy to spot the restaurant. We ordered Mongolian beef, chicken, shrimp and noodles special that included chicken, shrimp and pawn. It was a wait and worth it. Everything came out hot and just made. Smelled delicious and taste to match. I didn't see much prawn in the meal (small size) and only 2-3 shrimp in the Mongolian dish (large size). Prices were reasonable. Portions go a long way! We came here because we were in the area. While I love our usual take out spot, this was a very pleasant surprise. Dragon Express is roughly 15 minutes from Ft. Gordon. Had I seen the outside before hand, it honestly would have been a hard no. Good thing we placed an order over the phone which was a very easy, smooth conversation. While we're pulling into the lot, lots of people are coming out with big orders. We had came on super bowl Sunday, and since this establishment was poppin', I just knew I was in for a treat. However, to be fair, I want to say everyone was getting wings because they had a 100 wing special advertised. We head on in, and it's a whole bunch of super sweet older asian ladies who remind me of my Lola (grandma). I didn't see one man working there that day, get it ladies! Being a creature of habit, I got general tso, and my husband the sesame. I was so happy with my order. For some reason, a lot of the time, the general comes out sweet, but not here. I had a very delightful kick dancing around my taste buds. What's amazing to me, is the drive home was about another 15-20 minutes, with traffic, and my food was still piping hot. I also loved that the breaded chicken actually had chicken in it, who'd have guessed? A lot of places just fry the breading and mix it in, not here. Sadly, the fried rice was just so-so. We did also get a four count of the "cheese wontons", a play on crab Rangoon, and HELLO, it was delicious. Recommend the eight count though! Definitely don't judge a book by its cover, otherwise you'll miss out on a great opportunity to treat your tastebuds. We'll be adding Dragon Express to our rotation list. read more

I apologize, I forget to give credit to the watered down broth they use for the Won Ton it's almost not fair but I'll say it soup.... It's been a long time that I've been this disappointed in a meal. So I have been looking for a new Chinese place to enjoy since the ones most people use on Fort Gordon are pretty bad. Pros: On their website they advertise an hour delivery time (which I love that they put that out there in advance) but it only took 30 mins! Yay! The lo-mein was made with thinner noodles than what I am used to but they hooked it up by using big chunks of meat. The egg drop soup and spring rolls were great as well. Cons: the shrimp for my sweet and sour shrimp... OMG IT WAS BURNT! Literally dry and burnt. I was so disappointed I had to take a picture and share. Usually I would let little things slide since no restaurant is perfect but burnt food that they knew was burnt and they gave it to us anyway... Very disappointed. So I am going to call and see what they say about it. :-) read more

Dragon Express is top notch Chinese takeout in the Augusta area. Located off of Gordon Highway about a quarter mile from the Gordon Highway exits to both the 520 East and West points, the restaurant itself seems to be an old diner converted to a Chinese takeout restaurant. There is plenty of seating inside in case you want to eat your meals on site. The food is as plentiful as it is tasty. Ordering a lunch combo will score you a sweet tea and leftovers for dinner while ordering a dinner combo will easily provide for 3 meals. I've ordered both in person and over the phone as well as delivery and takeout and each time has been satisfactory. I tend to like the Mongolian chicken and the Chinese chicken and vegetables with extra heat and I've always been impressed with the freshness of the veggies and the overall meal. Egg rolls are always super crunchy and not overly greasy! The employees are very pleasant and the delivery drivers are pleasant and seem very hard-working. If you order delivery, make sure that you know there is about a $3 delivery fee included in your total. The good thing is that they always tell you your total on the phone regardless of pick up method. They also have a card reader so if you don't have cash on hand for delivery, they have you covered. If I'm not mistaken, they deliver to Fort Gordon so those of you on post looking for a good, cheap takeout meal should also consider Dragon Express as an option. Dragon Express is definitely my go-to for Chinese takeout in Augusta. read more

Yummy!! The best Chinese fast food place next to a microtel hotel I've ever been to!!! Really!! Lo mein fresh to order, wait staff is excellent and super nice. My sister brought me here for a late night (9pm) bite. Actually this is the only place open that we could find after leaving the mall. This is a great place! My niece loves the lo mein and the Mongolian beef looked jamming. Every dish I saw them make was a foodies delight and the food tastes great. We ordered some fried chicken wings and all I could say was wow! Tastey fried goodness and flavorful. Prices are awesome for the amount of food that you get.... And it's alot of food. My family and I love this place. their wings are fantastic, they take a bit to cook so order them early. The comb dinner plates are big You will have enough leftovers for another meal. Say hello to cathy she's the best. 6/20/18 update Cathy is no longer there, booo. Also I have been noticing a pattern, The recipes vary, I assume, from cook to cook. Sometimes the mongolian beef/chicken is off the chains, then sometimes it's just weak. A bit of a disappointment really, when your looking forward to kung pow and get poo poo.
