Came for lunch (perfect time)! Sanders our waiter helped guide us through the menu. So all was fabulous. We loved the starter of Pork & Crab Xiao Long Bao, entree was "Feeling Right" which was great combo of seafood plus plus. To bring home for dinner was Chicken and shrimp Jambalaya. You sit right on Puget Sound with views, gardens and tons of outdoor seating for Summer. We will be back and We will ask for Sanders as he was great read more

I very rarely write Yelp reviews, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna regret writing this one. Because there were only 3-4 other groups there when my wife and I checked it out for lunch. I hesitate to call attention to this place because I can easily imagine it becoming so popular it'll be hard to get a table right by the windows. But the people who opened and run this place deserve to get a lot of people here. I did the custom seafood boil with Dungeness crab, sausage, corn, potato, and white rice with the house Mala blend sauce (hot). I've seen the other reviews where people complained about the frozen seafood, but I thoroughly enjoyed the crab (and everything else in the dish). You're dipping the crab into spicy Cajun/Asian sauce for God's sake, so who the hell cares if it's frozen. I would get it again, but looking forward to trying the dumplings and other items from the menu. Since the restaurant's cuisine is a blend of Cajun and Asian, let me be the first to suggest it be referred to henceforth as "Casian" or "Ajun." You're welcome. The views really are as impressive as everybody's been saying, and even if you don't get a seat by a window, it's designed so every table has some kind of very nice view. Walk around the place, and you'll notice everywhere you stop gives you a different angle with its own uniquely beautiful view. Whoever designed this place did a f-cking great job. The indoor aesthetic is really nice, as well as outdoors. The planter boxes with wildflowers are beautiful and complement everything else nicely. The only thing I didn't care for was the robot servers. We already had a human server take our orders and do everything else other than bring the plates to our table, and we enjoyed our conversations with him (Gilbert). I get why other people like the robot servers, and that's fine. I would just rather have the human to human experience and know the staff are getting paid the wages they deserve. Let the Terminator robot revolution wait a few more years. The outdoor seating looks wonderful, and I look forward to coming back in the summer. I'll be pissed AF if this place gets so popular it's hard to get a table. But like I said, the chef and owner(s) deserve this place to be successful. read more

Super bummed about my experience because I was honestly hoping that the reviews were exaggerating the situation. I came here with my partner on Christmas Day, very thankful that the entire restaurant was open. When we arrived there was only one other party of three in the restaurant. My partner ordered the burger and I ordered the biang biang noodles. I was e so excited for these noodles so it was very unfortunate that there was a piece of metal thread? In my noodles? Looked like a piece of steel wool. It was in the middle of my noodles though, as if it had been mixed in to the noodles at the end we flagged over our waited and he asked if we would like another item but at that point it had already taken some time and my partner and I ended up sharing his burger which was just fine. The next time I'm craving a seafood boil I'll try another spot read more

I was hoping I'd like this place, but the food tasted really bad. The flavor of the seafood in general did not taste good. We had a seafood boil. The sauce was all on the bottom, so the seafood wasn't actually cooked in the sauce and lacked flavor. Shrimp in the boil tasted basically okay, but the clams and crab tasted like they had been in a fish tank too long. Sort of that weird chemical-y flavor of low quality seafood. Crab cakes also tasted gross and no one in our party would eat them. Veg and tofu dumplings tasted musty somehow. Not sure how to describe what was off, flavor wise, but something was. Ambiance was nice at least. I really wish I could give a good review, but honestly if a restaurant is starting up in a big expensive space like this, they really need to be confident about quality and flavor of the food. This is my fourth seafood boil restaurant experience and the only one I didn't like. read more

The views and the food was good, but service was very slow. It wasn't "bad" service per se. It just seemed like it was just run by lots of inexperienced help. The food itself was pretty good. Price is good for the location. Not sure how long the place will last if the service is this way. read more

View is amazing! Parking is spacious. They have robots carrying the food to the table. The hand pulled noodles were very good. The service was ok and waiters were pretty attentive. They did forget the salt and pepper when we asked for them. Never did get them at the end of the meal. That's all the good things....now to the seafood boil. We got the most expensive boil with the mala mix and it included snow crab, Dungeness crab, crawfish, mussels, shrimp, sausage, potatos, and corn. The presentation was great however the food was COLD and all the sauce was on the bottom!! The flavor didn't penetrate the meat at all. It was obviously not fresh and the meat was dry including being cold. We also ordered 3 bowls of clam chowder and 2 of them were just barely warm and the 3rd one had to be sent back as it was cold. The crab cakes were so gross I couldn't even eat them. I was also super disappointed as well that this restaurant had flys buzzing around our heads -- we were inside and it was air conditioned what's up with flys on a rainy fall evening??? read more

Great local spot to catch a super meal ! Right on the water , breeze, sun and shade , very good food, a bit of an eclectic menu . We love the happy hour ( goes til 6:00, great for kids ) . Super wait staff , and we even brought our dog to sit outside ... Our favs are wontons , biang biang shaved noodles , coconut shrimp ! ALL the best views in Ballard and really good food ( honestly without the crowds and high prices next door ) read more

The food was reasonably priced. The staff took care of my family's needs promptly. The views were out of this world. We had a great experience read more

Lunch menu lacking thus we ordered the chicken burger and it was just a little bit of chicken deep fried with very thick, thick hard crust. Not good at all. Bus person close to our table constantly and loudly adding/dropping dishes into tub. Service was great by young gal. Shrieking child at table next to us also loud child few tables away. I know this is not fault of facility. read more

I'll start off by saying the food tastes good and the waiter we got was friendly. They brought us the wrong order twice, forgot we ordered drinks which were incredibly watered down, and when we finally got our order the seasoning wasn't covering the entire crab boil. It was just kind of on top of everything which meant everything on the bottom had zero sauce. The crawfish was ok but very bland. The mussels were good but you have to apply the sauce by hand because, again, the seasoning wasn't covering everything or you're literally looking at a steamed mussel with nothing on it otherwise. The crab legs were good. The price was definitely not worth the quality of what we got. I'm not sure if they're still trying to figure things out or if they're in over their head but if they continue with this level of service and quality of food, I don't see them sticking around for very long. read more

10's across the board!! For coming in on a Saturday evening during their soft opening for dinner time, things went really well!! The lobby was full with a wait at 6:30. It took about 30 minutes to get a table for two seated but the manager came out while we were all waiting to tell us that the kitchen was running behind so there would be a bit of an extra wait. The hostess was really nice and the check in process to get put on the waitlist was really easy. The interior of the restaurant is really nice, ample amount of tables and a lot of tables for outside dining- will be amazing for the summers to come! I think having heated lamps outside for the fall/ winter would be a great idea for when it gets dark early during those months. The best part of the experience- the food!! For two people we shared a seafood boil combo and the cucumber salad + an additional build your own boil (green mussels) and everything was super fresh!! Perfectly seasoned and tasty. We had gotten the house special signature mala blend and also the classic Cajun with the spice level mild and hot. The hot was perfect! This is something I will be craving on a regular basis! As someone who eats with their eyes, while we were waiting for our table it seemed like by the looks of everyone else that was already dining in and eating, it felt like there was a lot of entrees being ordered vs seafood boils so that also feels like could be the cause of the kitchen running behind. For being open only 4 days I think it was a great experience and we will definitely be back!! I'm so excited to have a restaurant that offers so much now in Ballard. The parking is also a huge plus. I'm already looking forward to coming back! read more

The service was inattentive and the food mediocre at best. The Biang Biang Noodles was the best thing we ate. The muscles were way over cooked and rubbery. read more

My wife and I stopped in on Saturday afternoon during the soft opening. Was greeted on arrival and seated at a table in the bar. The dining room and bar area are modern, with floor to ceiling windows. Great views of Puget Sound. There were TV's in the bar area with college football. Thank you! Gilbert was our waiter. He was attentive and friendly, and made us feel welcome. We ordered the Cajun (mild) boil with shrimp, sausage, and hard boiled eggs. The boil included corn on the cob and potatoes. It was a classic boil and it was delicious. Next time, we'll order the spicy Cajun. Happy Crab, welcome to Ballard. We look forward to eating here often. read more

Food was great , view is unbeatable though. Nothing beats it. Staff was very friendly.

Food is delicious, service is very friendly and the bathrooms are amazing for a restaurant.

Amazing view!!! fresh seafood but they should put seafood boil in a bag to marinate the seasoning and food doesnt get cold. Overall it's a great experience dining here read more

A group of 8 of us had lunch. Four of us got jambalaya, which way nothing like a traditional jambalaya any of us had ever had, so it was edible, but disappointing. Nobody raved about the order except for one person. We were at the Seaview location in Ballard. Very nice server though read more

Shout out to James the server. Great service and the food was fire . We will be back in the summer time for the vibes !

Everything was sooo good and our server(who was also the bartender) was really warm and friendly. He made our night out special and was very accommodating to us all! Will definitely be back closer to sunset to see the amazing views! read more

Food was great. The hand pulled noodles and a hard boiled as an addition to the build your own plate is great because the sauce they use is fantastic. Green beans are yummy. Food took a long time. They needed more servers and a host. Cool vibe. View is amazing. read more

Stellar space, beautiful view. The biang biang noodles and green beans were excellent. I was excited about the seafood boil, but I'm not sure I would get it again--we got a lobster tail and it was pretty dry, especially for the price, though the garlic butter was excellent. I will definitely be back, but I might stick to the non-seafood boil food next time! It's a shame because I think if they can get the seafood boil food right, that will be a huge draw. read more

Servers were so friendly, great casual place for big groups. The hand pulled pasta and potatoes soaking under the house sauce is v yummy. First time seafood combos were huge , second time, smaller but more than enough. Can't wait for warm weather to sit on their huge waterfront patio. read more

We love happy crab!! The location/view is awesome and the seafood boils are beyond delicious (get the mala sauce!). The green beans are also soooo good. At the bar enjoying that satiated feeling you get after you have a good meal. I've always loved an all-you-can-eat buffet. I was sad at how Covid changed that. Some casino's have them but frankly they are terrible. I don't recall how i stumbled onto Happy Crab's website site but the moment I saw all-you-can-eat seafood buffet I was in. They are in the old Anthony's location at Shilshole (and please, whatever you do, don't tell them this fact, they are keenly aware...) Snow crab, Dungeness crab, clams, mussels, shrimp, cold shrimp, coconut shrimp, oysters, salmon,...takes a breath...fresh sushi, omlette bar, breakfast things, salad and fruit bar aaaannndddd dessert bar....whew! Oh, and unlimited made to order steak, halibut, crab cakes, dumplings and wonton and much more. If the price of the buffet gives you pause (look that up yourself) they do have an al a cart menu as well. If you've missed those all-you-can eat seafood buffets, Happy Crab is for you. read more

Omg, date night was beautiful watching the sunset This is an awesome restaurant to take over the old Anthony's! This is my first time trying a crab boil and it was so fun! Everything was delicious. We did a 2 person crab boil with a side of garlic bread and for dessert some strawberry bingsoo. I loved my waiter as well, he was so knowledgeable and gave great advice. read more

Came here with a group of 9 with reservations. Spacious, family friendly, casual vibe with TVs and bar. Menu is all over the place - specializes in Seafood boils - cajun and house special sauce were delicious, portions large for Seattle. Food winners: Green Beans. You will want to order at least one more serving than you think. I'd literally come back JUST for the green beans. If you don't order this, you're missing out. I am not alone in this opinion. Grilled Halibut plate. Really tasty. We ordered the additional roasted potatoes, too. Fish & chips. Excellent breading. Big portion Seafood boil. Get the Mala Sauce. If someone in your group doesn't like seafood, get extra sausage, potatoes, and corn. Very tasty. Food Losers: Shrimp & Grits. Just not good. Avoid. Xiao Long Bao ( soup dumplings). Very dough heavy. Contents bland and dry. Biang Biang Noodles. Very mid and bland. Ordered on two occasions and each time same opinion. Doesn't really matter what protein you get. The noodles just didn't do it for us. Our server, Dominique, was wonderful. Even though I think she had to cover too many tables to be able to check in enough in our large party. Happy Crab has a lot of potential. Kind of depends on what your order. Beautiful view. Installing mirrors along the back walls would help the patrons who have their backs to the view not feel like they're missing out quite as much. read more

I enjoyed coming to Happy Crab. I was very excited to see so many TVs there, since I like watching sports. The last time I was there, the TVs were all off, and we wanted to watch the world series game. The story we got was that some customer(s) complained about the TVs! If the TVs are going to be off, I won't be coming back! Food is good, service is good enough, view is amazing. My message to ownership: don't listen to the feedback about the TVs! You put them in for a reason. read more

The food was frozen, overpriced and awful. Service sucked and a robot delivered our food. Don't waste your time.

The food was absolutely delicious. The views were outstanding both from in the restaurant and on the patio. Service was a lackluster and our oysters had lots of shell pieces in them. But the biang biang noodles, crab and mussels where out of this world. Fantastic location too! read more

This was our first time dining at Happy Crab, and I recommend the restaurant 100%. We ordered garlic-blistered green beans, pork Xiao long bao, pork biang biang noodles, and a 22 ounce beer. If I had to pick favorites I'd select the green beans & the noodles - both of them were flavorful and delicious. Plus, of course, the beer. The service was helpful & polite. I think the prices are really reasonable in a town where restaurant prices have gotten expensive. I'll definitely be back! read more

For years I have always waited at least a month to visit a new place. I should have followed my rule...Unfortunately there was nothing happy about this visit. We observed two employees lose their temper at each other, general organization was chaotic, no chili oil for dumplings. Gilbert the bartender was about the only silver lining to our visit. I wanted to love this place but I left disappointed and not happy. read more

Horrible bartender. This place cannot seem to retain employees who are good at their job. They used to have a good bartender but he left. We unwisely sat at the empty bar. Stopped by for lunch. Restaurant has a lot Ely location with plenty of parking. Food was good. We went for Chinese options. Don't get the Xiaolongbao, though, because they are overly dry. What really kills this place is the incredibly poor service. As far as we could see, there was one manager and one waiter. They try to supplement this with a robot. No one checks to see if your meal is complete or OK. You can't ask the robot for anything. That doesn't make us want to go back. read more
