As someone who's always looking for new places to try, I'm surprised it took us this long to find KinD Restaurant. We live in West Seattle, but since they've only been open for about two months, this was our first visit--and it definitely won't be our last. We started with the edamame and kimchi. The kimchi has a nice kick to it, and we absolutely loved it! For our mains, we ordered the tofu and vegetable noodle soup and the bone-in short rib. Both were incredibly comforting, with a rich, savory broth and plenty of vegetables. We actually found ourselves asking for extra broth because it was that good! The bone-in short rib was fork-tender, packed with flavor, and one of those dishes you'll still be thinking about after the meal. Everything tasted thoughtfully prepared without feeling overly heavy. We also tried the Japanese lager. My husband, who's a big beer enthusiast and usually prefers bolder, heavier beers, thought it was a little too light for his taste. If you enjoy easy-drinking lagers, though, you'll probably love it. The service made the experience even better. Brandon was the only server covering about five tables, yet he never seemed overwhelmed. He took the time to walk us through the menu, explain how everything worked, and checked on everyone throughout our meal. It's always refreshing to receive service that feels genuinely welcoming rather than rushed. For a restaurant that's only been open a short time, they're off to a fantastic start. If you're looking for a cozy spot with flavorful food and warm hospitality, Kind Restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. read more

I dined at KinD with a friend and we were both really looking forward to trying their food. The restaurant is well designed, and not too large - which was nice. There was one staff member working the front of the house and ordering was done through a tablet. They have a nice assortment of options on their menu, and I opted for the dumpling soup with beef broth. My friend opted for the veggie tofu soup with vegan broth. Food was delivered fairly quickly, which was nice, and beautifully presented. My dumpling soup came with six very full homemade dumplings, I opted to eliminate the white onions and green onions from my dish when I ordered - so you won't see them in the photo. The dumplings we're plump and clearly homemade with good flavor but the sodium level was quite high in them. And unfortunately, both my friend and I were really disappointed by the sodium level of the broths, which was much too high for us so stayed on my tongue for a really long time. Usually when the broth is high you might get a relief from the dumplings or the noodles and the vegetables, but everything was overly salted for our tastes. I even removed some dumplings and noodles from the broth hoping that eating them from a plate would give me a relief from the high sodium level. However it didn't because they were also high in sodium individually. The nice staff member who helped us offered to ask in the back of the kitchen if the chefs had done anything to change the recipe that day and apparently these were their standard traditional broth recipes, which is good to know, but also a disservice to the flavor because when broths are overly salted you really don't get a good sense of the broth flavor or the richness of the ingredients. He did mention in the future we can ask for a low sodium version and they can dilute the broth - I'm guessing this will also dilute the flavor of the broth so it might not be as rich. Unfortunately, neither of us were able to eat much of our food because we were overwhelmed by the sodium, so didn't even bring our leftovers home. We were given a discount on our bill because of this but left very hungry still and we really would have just preferred to been able to eat all our lunch. read more

The D in KinD stands for Do Not Eat here. Horrendous value. Even worse food. Pork curry: the curry sauce was out of a tube, and not the good one. Pork was overcooked to the point where it was dry and inedible. Chicken soup: served with "vegan" broth, not sure why. Zero flavor whatsoever. Chicken seemed like it was unseasoned and boiled in water. Broth was less than half a serving. Won tons: you can get better frozen ones from Uwajimaya. Wings: three to an order. Three. Zero flavor. They are cooked and that's about the only good thing I can say. You will get a better, tastier meal serving $1.99 grocery store bowl of noodles and dumplings. I don't wish ill on small businesses. But places that serve truly awful food that's worse than anything premade from any grocery store, should not stay in business. Do not reward them with your business, anything else would be better. This West Seattle restaurant is one of many I wanted to give a try, so for a trip to this part of Seattle and to also stroll around Alki Beach, I came here with a friend on a Saturday evening around 7:30pm. The interior immediately struck me as being pretty modern and minimalistic with several paintings on the walls and a bar area followed by several tables that seat groups of up to 8 people or so. Our wait wasn't long as most tables weren't filled until the absolute last minute right when we finished our 1-hour visit and ate our food. The menu has options including noodle soups, banh mi sandwiches, dumplings, rice plates and tons of drinks of all sorts. Staff gives you a tablet where you place your orders and add more when you feel like it. Our dishes took a good 20 or so minutes to finally come out which is a while given the restaurant wasn't packed in any way. As for our food: - We shared some homemade pork and shrimp spicy wontons, which came in six and showered with a spicy sauce similar to that of Lao Gan Ma chili crisps, only much thinner. We both agreed it wasn't too spicy but we were fine with the lower spice levels. - I got their beef noodle soup, which - put simply - felt more like a regular bowl of pho minus the lime and other small stuff. It has sirloin slices that were raw when presented until staff gracefully poured the beef broth into the bowl and turned all that red meat into the tender protein that I enjoy. Green onions, small mint leaves and some cilantro finish the rest of the dish. Hoisin sauce and sriracha are provided on the side for this. Dishes here are promising overall and there's a ton of variety besides what we both got. A return trip here is in the works whenever I come back for something related to West Seattle! read more

The quality of meat here hits different - everything was well-made and flavorful. I snapped a pic of the Fried Dumplings (pork) and appreciated the handmade filling. It's clean, a little small inside and has decent amount of seating. I would agree with others that is on the pricier end, but if you frequently eat similar foods and prefer higher quality meats, I think it's clear why. At the same time, if you don't have a preference - know that's what you're paying for (I have some spots I don't mind a lower quality of meat too). BUT I do think this is important - there really aren't many West Seattle restaurants with good Asian food. So sure, you could drive further out but if you want to stay local to WS - this is your spot. It's worth it. Try their handmade dumplings! Just like family makes. read more

I started with the spicy wonton appetizer (no soup version), which was pork wontons coated in chili oil and scallions. The chili crisp oil was decently flavorful and I enjoyed it, though at close to $15 after tax and tip, it felt steep for an appetizer portion. For my main, I went with their signature dish, the red cooked Wagyu beef and noodles. The Wagyu itself was the highlight of the meal, melt-in-your-mouth tender, rich, and you could really taste the quality of the beef. Fair warning that there's a lot of fattiness, but that comes with the territory for Wagyu. It's a unique dish - I haven't seen anything quite like it at other spots, so if you're in the mood for a rich, meaty noodle situation, it's worth trying at least once. That said, the broth leaned mild and neutral, so if you're hoping for something deeply seasoned and packed with flavor, this probably isn't the right pick. The noodles were decent and are supposedly handmade, but they tasted closer to good store-bought than what I was expecting from handmade, maybe just a small step above. A little more chew would have gone a long way. Overall the food is well-executed but on the pricier side, and the ambiance and ordering setup don't quite match the price point. You order through an iPad, which gives it a casual, quick-service feel that felt a bit at odds with what you're paying. I'm personally not a fan of tablet ordering when there's a friendly staff on hand to talk to. Speaking of, service was warm and welcoming, Brandon in particular was great. They also still have their prize wheel going for deals, though you may need to ask about it (and they'll ask for a review in exchange). The restaurant is clean, the location at the West Seattle junction is convenient with plenty of other spots nearby, and the Wagyu really is worth experiencing. Give it a try if you're in the area, just go in knowing you're paying a bit of a premium for a casual-feeling meal with at least the Wagyu noodle soup being a unique dish. read more

Been living in west Seattle for 2 years now and have always been looking for a good Asian spot and today I finally got to try kinD! KinD is located on the junction and offers a unique twist on Asian food. We went on a weekday during their soft opening phase, so we got a free appetizer: fried dumplings to share which was so delicious! For our main dishes, we opted for a chicken and beef noodle soup since it was a chilly day. The beef noodle soup was a twist on traditional pho. The soup was very flavorful but I did miss the spices they use in a traditional pho. The meat was slightly overcooked probably from how hot the soup was but was overall enjoyable. The chicken noodle soup had round noodles kind of resembling udon and the broth was really light and comforting, kind of like a home cooked meal. The other menu items like the wagyu noodle soup and the curry rice looked good so I do want to give those a try next time as well. Overall, given that we went during their soft opening, the food was not bad! Total was $77 for the 2 bowls of noodles, katsu, and tokyo malt latte BEFORE TIP, which is honestly extremely overpriced for what it was. If i could describe my experience at KinD with one word, it would be MID. They charged an extra .55 cents for spicy mayo with the katsu, when you could just mix the mayo with sriracha provided at the table. I wouldn't even call this place Asian, more like white people attempting to mix various Asian cuisines and calling it "fusion." Music was overbearing and there were multiple infants just crying in the already small, loud space. I genuinely don't understand how this place has so many raving reviews like the hand pulled noodles and broth were nothing special. TLDR: Food was mid, just go to Chinatown for better Asian food. read more

I was really craving soup and this Red cooked Waguy Noodle Soup just hit the spot. It has a great amount of spices, umami flavor and the noodles were cooked to perfection. We popped in on a Tuesday afternoon and were seated almost immediately. Brandon, our server insisted on setting the table first, so he wouldn't have to reach across us while he set things up. Once we were seated, he explained how the iPad menu worked, which was very user-friendly. His impeccable service was consistent throughout our visit.
