    Biang Biang noodles

Beautiful waterfront location with acceptable seafood boil and disappointing Chinese food. We came to check out Happy crab due to social media recommendations and to bring family to see the waterfront view. The location is in Ballard which is hard to get to as is but the spot on the waterfront is beautiful. I can only imagine the water in the summer! Our server was friendly and efficient. We ordered a seafood boil as well as xiao long bao, gumbo, and Biang Biang noodles. The seafood boil was not bad - decently fresh and sauce was nice. But the xiao long bao tasted very mediocre (thick skin with a processed tasting filling), and the Biang Biang noodles were overly oily. The gumbo was also ok, not anything memorable. Overall the Chinese food felt disappointing, but the seafood boil was ok - so I could maybe see us coming back in the summer for the views and maybe the seafood. But otherwise I felt a little let down.

It was great!! Dropped in to check it out during Happy Hour to gauge for future, large party, family dinner event. Location is remarkable and very familiar (the old Anthony's spot). Happy Hour menu is the way to go. Tried the Basic. Super Good!! Price was just right. My server August was friendly, efficient and very informative about the longer menu. This will be Happy Crab's first full summer. Lots of seating outside. Chill vibe. Looking forward to hearing the piano player. We will be back. (The recent bad ratings here are humorous).

I give it a 3.5 is more to be exact it Ben open for 8 months still working on a buffet , the sign outside on the street said coming soon but that's for the buffet . On the day when we went there it look like it was closed at lunch but alki gun to the door there were several people already eating , very nice bathrooms and there is an area if you just want to wash your hands separately if you didn't want to go in. The view is fantastic , your at the " mouth of the locks ", I would just go back for the view , air condition inside , lots of different utensils for you to get down to business, extremely friendly staff but I never had the ore made combo it was okay but next time I think I would put my own spin on things. Btw there is another seafood place next day with a view but not close to the sea as we were but there is overpriced.

You're paying for the atmosphere, and nice service. Genuine compliments to the team putting in nice effort, but I just can't recommend choosing this spot. Seattle surrounding areas offers many other options for (in my opinion) better quality seafood, flavor, and options. The atmosphere is nice, and the menu was clear- but the quality and portion of food felt, underwhelming, and un-refined. Small icks like I had to ask for a cleaner spoon. Was told they don't have any sauce that comes with oysters, and they boast about the noodles, but are mushy and nothing special. Sorry, had higher hopes. Bubble tea drinks are mediocre.

We got custom boils with dungeness and snow crab, green mussels, sausage, and a noodle. Potatoes and corn are complimentary. They forgot to add a few items initially but more than made up for it by giving us large quantities of what was missing. The noodle was perfectly chewy and bouncy, the crab was flavorful (I think the dungeness was better than snow) and the mussels were meaty and delicious. Our sauce was a little salty but still really good with all the food. Would go again!

definitely one of the nicest seafood boils I've been to, it's right on the water and we came during sunset and the views were so nice. I've been here a few times now and overall I think it's good, with some mixed stuff. This is the first boil I've been to that has mala flavor which I really liked, you can also add hand pulled noodles which is fun. But I did try their happy hour which was very hit or miss. We tried the dumplings and those were very bad, very oily and the dumplings had no flavor on their own and the sauce didn't stick well to the dumplings. The calamari and that entire plate was soggy and not crisp or crunchy. The shrimp and grits were all right, very buttery - little too much for me but that's just me. The jambalaya wasn't bad and the mushroom thing was very rich but it was good. Overall I'll keep coming back

Beautiful location, great view of the water, and they have a massive parking lot! They had their patio door opened so there were quite a bit of flies buzzing around. Service was a hit and miss, the servers are very nice, but kind of slow and sometimes very attentive and sometimes not. We waited a bit to get seated and it wasn't even busy at all. It took about 25 mins to get our food. Food, it's pricey. Their dumplings were cold and didn't taste fresh. It was actually a bit dry. The seafood boil, it was also cold, and it's a seafood "boil," so it didn't live up to its name. And it taking 25 mins to get our order, I was hoping it was going to be hot for waiting that long. The boil itself came with a variety of seafood which was great, and there were some highlights. We liked the mussels, potatoes, corn, and shrimp. The crab legs and crawfish didn't feel the flavor penetrated into them.

Lunch at Happy Crab View is 5 stars. We wanted to watch a FB game as they had 6 TVs in one spot. Server said no problem and completely forgot. It wasn't busy but oh well. The seafood boil was ok; price was reasonable. Forgot to take a picture of the $18 jambalaya- this one is definitely not worth the price.

The view is absolutely spectacular. And whether you dine inside by a window or whether you dine on the patio outside, you're gonna have a great view of the Shilshole Bay waterfront. This place definitely has potential They just opened up recently so I'm sure they are still working out a lot of the kinks. They now have the full menu both daytime and evening, which is great. we tried three different menu items and shared them, I'd say the food is so so. it's got some zest and taste OK but is incredibly greasy and loaded with oil. I'm hoping that is just because the cooks are new and things are still getting worked out on recipes and learning to make them. Service was wonderful, especially the robot server who came out and joined one of the servers bringing some of our dishes out I definitely prefer humans over robots, but it was fun amusement to at least have the robot come and join the human servers and help out. I forgot to take a pictures of the bar, but the bar also looked really nice although it looks like at this point, they mainly have vodka & rum.

I was influenced. I kept seeing all the influencers posting about this new Chinese seafood boil place. They were raving about the xiao long baos and that it might be better than Din Tai Fung. Well let me just say it was not. We went today, day after Christmas for lunch. Made a reservation because we were a party of 8 and I thought it would be packed. It was empty. Great. The space is beautiful, the water views are nice. Large free parking lot. Amazing. Then it all goes down hill from here. The food, we ordered cucumber salad, garlic green beans, custom seafood boil, pork XLB and truffle XLB, mussels, fried rice, beef biang biang noodles, and coconut shrimp. They were out of the cucumber salad, so they told us they'll take it off the bill. My seafood boil came first and it was missing the hand pulled noodles, I didn't say anything initially because I thought maybe it'd come separately, I later had to point it out then the waiter brought it out. The noodles were SO incredibly disappointing. Poorly stretched. Really thick and doughy. I wanted it to be beautifully wide and thin like the influencers noodles were. I guess they didn't put care into mine since I wasn't an influencer. Sad. My kids wanted the xlb and that took forever. Pretty much by the time I finished my seafood boil, it finally came. It shouldn't take this long. Yes it is "made-to-order" but considering there were only 2 other parties at the restaurant, it shouldn't have taken this long. They forgot about the second order of pork xlb and brought it at the very end, so that was comped. The xlb was also not great. Go to Supreme Dumplings or DTF for good ones, better ones. These were already exploded when it arrived. So there was no soup in them. Not a soup dumpling at all. Just wet dumplings. Then mid way through the meal, the waiter brought the cucumber salad that he initially told us they were out of. It was literally just a stack of cucumbers. Not seasoned at all, and since he brought it out, it was on the bill. Again, pretty much ANY of the dumpling restaurants in the area have better ones. I was looking forward to this place so much. But we left very disappointed. Go for the view, go with no expectations.

    Gloria K.

Food was overwhelming. I ordered a combo, green bean and the beef noodles. I would say all the dishes were okay. I was also a little disappointed by the noodles, they're not as thick and chewy as other places. I'd say if you want the view and ambience, this is a good spot.

    Seafood boil with mala sauce

Amazing experience. The options were great for a seafood boil place. They had dim sum, veggies and dessert and traditional Chinese entrees. The service was perfect. We went on a Saturday night without a reservation and got seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant was clean, well spaced, huge and the ambiance was light and bright. We can't wait to visit in the warmer months to soak in the views from the on water location. We got a seafood boil with head on shrimp, muscles and crawfish with a malatang sauce. The crawfish was frozen which was expected and shrimp was so good and fresh! Corn bread was dry and not freshly baked. Side of green beans was tasty with lots of garlic!

Happy Crab! This place is another hidden new gem In the Seattle area! We saw this place on social media and had to check it out. First off, the decor of this place is amazing. Loved the quote on the wall and the esthetics of the restaurant. Second, they had so much to offer on the menu. The prices are very reasonable as well. We each ordered the boil. I got the lobster only and it was 19 dollars for just the tail. We older orders fried rice which was amazing, some dim sum, string beans, and the mala noodles. I'm not a big fan of the mala taste but my group loved it. Also, when you pick the sauce for the boil you can choose mala as well, but if you prefer not the mala taste you can do the Cajun butter and it was delicious. My only down fall of this restaurant would be the when you get the boil there is not that much sauce. I loved a saucy saucy boil to soak up all the meat. Another thing, a lot of entrees come out on a robot so I don't know if the robot is slow but some of the food was warm but not too hot. This place is new and I know has some work to do but overall it's one of our top new boil places.

For mains, we ordered the ribeye and the grilled sablefish. The sablefish was delicious and a nice change from more standard fish dishes I've had before. The puree it came with was good, but the dish, I thought could've been served warmer. The ribeye had a weak sear and chewy, unrendered fat making it tough and difficult to slice, and the cut itself was uneven with one end thicker than the other. The sauce ended up being overpowering rather than enhancing the dish. On a positive note, the service was thoughtful, and the view is absolutely stunning. We were sat right at the window, and even post sunset it is a nice ambiance. The restaurant was not overly crowded and we didn't have to wait long with our reservation. I do recommend getting a reservation though. The staff was friendly, helpful and on top of things. The food was good, but was pricey. We got the mushroom risotto and added scallops to it. To add 2 scallops was +$26 which is steep even for Seattle. The scallops were cooked really well, but I would still say the price tag wasn't justified. We also also had the Wild Alaskan King Salmon and the Sablefish in Sake Kasu . The salmon was okay, but nothing noteworthy. The sablefish was delicious, and I would definitely recommend. If you are looking for a special meal - anniversary, birthday, etc. - and want great views of the water then I think Ray's is a good choice. While the food is pricey, there are some solid options on the menu. But if you are just looking for some great seafood, there are better tasting and better priced places around Seattle that would be better suited.

So when I woke up still craving shellfish, RockCreek was the call. It was the right one. A dozen oysters to start: Kumamoto and Shigoku. Clean -- no grit, no sand. Whatever they're doing back there, it's working. The brine was full and present in every shell, and the mignonette hit that rare sweet spot of light but actually seasoned. The Winter Old Fashioned? Get it. It was so delicious. Then came the crab Benedict. The side salad alone was worth writing home about -- big, buttery, peppery leaves draped in one of those feather-light vinaigrettes that sounds simple until you try to replicate it at home and realize you can't. But the real star of the entire plate was the potatoes. Crispy outside, genuinely fluffy inside, seasoned with conviction. A masterpiece is not too strong a word. Closed with a glass of pink wine. Was eyeing the bottle with the piglet on the label, but it was bottle-only -- a distinction I find increasingly arbitrary as a former server and bartender. One day that policy will be a relic. Not yet, apparently. Best brunch I've had in Seattle in two years. Highly recommend.

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and I am so glad I finally did! We ordered a few things to share and every single dish was delicious! Shrimp toast: this was a great appetizer to share! Very crispy and the sauces on the side gave it a more complex flavor! It came with a sweet mayo and chili sauce. The chili sauce is definitely spicy if you can't handle spice so beware on how much you're using if that's the case. I also really enjoyed the slaw that came with it, it was very refreshing and it had a bit of sweet mayo flavor to it, I think it's the same as the dipping sauce but I could be wrong! Fried oysters: these were delicious! I think fried oysters can be a hit or miss for me, sometimes the interior can feel too dry and feel kinda of mushy-like, like I'm eating bread rather than seafood. But this had great texture on the inside while being crispy on the outside! The sauce on the side tasted like a pepper aioli which gave the oyster a nice tang *the fried dishes were great but after having a few, it definitely felt heavy, so this would be something I share with someone else vs eating it on my own Smoked salmon belly dip: I really enjoyed this! It was creamy and had chunks of salmon in it. It wasn't too dense or thick so it was perfect for scooping onto the kettle chips. The kettle chips were lightly salted so it was the perfect combo with the dip. Clam chowder: wow I absolutely loved this! This is different than any other chowder I've had. While I love a white creamy chowder from your typical seafood places, the base being a fish stock definitely brought out the seafood flavor vs a white chowder feeling like a cream base. This chowder still felt creamy and rich without the seafood flavor being overpowered. Rockfish bowl: the crab rolls were sold out by the time we made it to the register so we opted for this instead and I am so glad that we did. I didn't really expect this to blow me away but this was such a refreshing dish that balanced out the fried dishes we got. It used viet flavors that you may typically find in a banh mi which made it refreshing and had great texture from all the different fresh ingredients and fried garlic. I also loved how the fish came in patty form mixed with pork, it was flavorful and moist. I love any type of fish tofu/patty, I think it really makes fish flavorful when it sometimes can have a really mild flavor. I'll definitely be back to try the crab rolls!

I always enjoy looking at the old classic photographs on the Walls of Ray's, Ray history and various random Northwest seafood artifacts. This place feels like a classic four star restaurant with 100+ years of history in the best of ways. The service is exquisite and some of the best we've experienced. Extremely attentive but also knows to leave you alone when you're visiting. Our two servers, the hosts and the bussers we experienced yesterday were all excellent with wonderful energy. The food is in the running for best seafood in the Northwest. The clam chowder is the measuring stick of any seafood restaurant and the chowder here is fabulous. Hearty, thick and creamy. What I appreciate about the clam chowder is it's the ancient Ray's recipe that's been the same ever since I started coming here and it is world class. We ordered a little bit of everything here as we usually do because the food is exceptional. I always go fish and chips and can report the fish and chips here are about the best you can find in town. The tartar sauce here is especially good and unique. The rest of the table ordered various seafood dishes and everyone reported that they loved their dishes. Really about the best seafood I've experienced in a restaurant. Ray's is pricey but the food and the service are among the best in the Northwest as well as the history and experience. One of the things that always impresses me about Ray's is Ray's doesn't try, it just is. For Ray's to not just have survived but thrived for 80+ years on just the quality of it's food and service is stunning and a testament to how wonderful this business is. With so much of the beautiful Seattle we natives know and love being destroyed, a beautiful ferry ride over to Seattle and a meal at Ray's is one of the greatest Seattle experiences one can experience in that town. I just had a stunningly bad experience at supposedly one of the best seafood houses in the world in San Francisco where the food and service was abysmal. I realize now after visiting Ray's that we were so underwhelmed because as Native Seattlites, we've been blessed with the best seafood houses in the world like Ray's living in the Northwest. Nothing else compares.

Renee Erickson's team always does excellent with small plates. The endive salad with toasted pistachios was delightful, refreshing, and well-made. Sit at the oyster bar and order a glass of your favorite crisp white or bubbly. Always a good time, great vibes. Usually love the steak tartare but the night we went they were using some odd aioli that I didn't care for.

The oyster selection is always fantastic with a great variety to choose from, though they do feel a tad pricey. The bread is fabulous, really well done, but at the end of the day it's still just bread. The tartare is solid and enjoyable. I was a bit disappointed in the sardines as the walnut pesto and shallots overwhelmed the fish, which on their own are delicious and didn't need that much going on. The cheese options are another highlight and something I do quite enjoy. Overall everything here is solid and well executed, and I understand why it's popular. For me though, it never quite reaches exceptional. It's a good experience, just not one I find myself going out of my way for.

Our incredible server Trey soon came over and helped us decide on some drinks, as we were debating between a few. The menu has so many options, it was hard to just choose one! We soon put our appetizer orders in, as well as our entrees. The calamari tasted fresh and crispy, what's not to like? The oysters I was recommended, tasted sooo fresh! The smoked salmon deviled egg was something I've never thought would work, but it tasted amazing. You can never go wrong with fish and chips, which tasted great! Our server was so sweet and was very attentive throughout the whole night. Dessert time came around and Trey recommended this Washington berry pie, we were sold! It came out deliciously warm with some ice cream on top, which was the cherry on top for our night!! Can't say enough great things about this restaurant, great staff, solid menu, we will definitely be back!!

The food is good, but not something that will bring you back over and over again. The service on the other hand is incredibly good. Kind, thoughtful and incredibly authentic. We took my mother - a person who lives with disabilities and requires a mobility scooter. The staff went out of their way to help her feel comfortable and well taken care of. In my book - the staff of Duke's of south Lake Union are a solid 5 stars rating. And, the food is a 3'ish rating. Put together- it's a place that is worth visiting if for nothing else than the amazing staff. Oh, and the view on Lake Union is also really great, especially if you can grab a table near one of the patio heaters.
