I love this bakery! I have yet to eat any of their savory items, but their sweets are incredible. For my 30th birthday I ordered a custom cake in the Peach Lambic flavor - YUM! The tiramisu & yellow dragon are also delicious, as are all the other flavors. The cake is moist and the fillings are often very unique, which I appreciate. They also have seasonal flavors and offerings. Their Turkish coffee cookies are delicious - I lived in Israel for 2 years so I love anything that transports me back the Middle East. I was traveling for work and found myself in Cincinnati, OH, where I'd be for Easter and my birthday, which was a week later. I had given up gluten and sweets for Easter so I was badly anticipating the consumption of both but had zero faith that I'd find anything suitable in Cincinnati. I threw caution to the wind and searched "vegan desserts" in Yelp, the day before Easter, and voila! I couldn't believe my eyes when this place came up. I was in so much disbelief that I called them to ask. Thank goodness they were open during COVID-19, but they were going to be closed on Easter Sunday, and I had like 20 minutes to get to them before they closed on Easter eve. I arrived in time and to my surprise they still had a few options left. I grabbed some cupcakes, fruit bars, and a colorful mini cake. The lady (possibly the owner) was very upbeat and happy. I love to see it! The strawberry lemon cupcake was perfection. Moist, light, and sweet. The fruit bar (I think it was apricot, but I can't recall) was also quite yummy. Unfortunately, I didn't really care for the vanilla lavender whole mini cake. Their vanilla cake is that old school, vegan of the 70s, beige, a little on the dry side, vanilla cake. If you know, you know. It's unfortunate because in today's world, so many vegan chefs have mastered the light and fluffy vanilla cake that can rival any non-vegan version (i.e. The Happy Bakery in OFallon, IL or Vegan Treats in Bethlehem, PA, to name a few.). I also think I'm just not a fan of the taste of lavender. The prices were very fair and the desserts were fresh. I only saw street parking so be prepared for that. This is a really good vegan bakery in the area, but I wouldn't say the food necessarily "fools" you into thinking it isn't vegan. Also known as - I wouldn't necessarily compare this to a non-vegan bakery. I got the cinnamon raspberry cupcake today and I really loved the icing in particular. The raspberry icing was absolutely phenomenal - it was flavorful, satisfying, and so fluffy! The actual cake had a texture more consistent with a muffin (but a very good quality muffin!) - it didn't quite have that fluffy interior that I usually want in a cupcake but it wasn't super dense either. The staff were super sweet and very helpful. There were tons of plants around at the front and it made it so relaxing to be in there. Highly recommend coming here for anyone but especially for any vegans in the area! read more

The sandwich is made up of vegan cheese, tofu scramble, and a savory crumbly biscuit that tastes as good as any, and is much healthier for you. It also has a lunch menu featuring many vegan items. There's a sandwich with hummus among others. If you need vegan bakery items this is somewhere to look. It makes custom cakes for your parties. I hate writing bad stuff about a vegan bakery because there is definitely a need for places like this, however I am posting this review just on the basis of what I had when I was there. I was going to a different place to try donuts and somehow just ended here due to the other bakery being closed. First off, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They were all very chipper and happy. I saw a sign showing that they had two donuts to offer that day and so my friend and I ordered one of each, which was a peach glazed donut & a mocha glazed donut. The other positive I had was that they really nailed the mocha glazed taste and I really enjoyed it. The downward spiral was that this wasn't a donut. It was croissant pastry in the form of a donut. I took one bite and the outside was very rough to bite into and the inside was very flakey, which is not the normal donut. The donut was barely edible in that state and the peach glazed that we had wasn't a prevalent flavor, unlike the mocha. Also, the donuts were super small, which might have been the reason it felt overbaked and rough to bite into. In my opinion, it wasn't worth the calories. Still, I'm sure a bunch of their other stuff is delicious, but the donuts here won't satisfy any cravings, in my opinion. read more

The food is made from scratch, from cupcakes, croissants, cakes, and special little treats, not to mention their menu for breakfast/lunch (my go-to is the breakfast on a croissant) and they even have special treats for Sunday's! They get their ingredients locally. I know this business supports the community enormously. Not... to... mention... ALL VEGAN. The coffee is already available once you get there, and they even have the best-selling oat milk on their shelves as creamer for your coffee! The staff is attentive, personal, helpful and quick. Even on their busiest days, they always know who you are and what your order is. They personalize the experience. Happy Chicks is a fully vegan establishment in Northside, but even omnivores will enjoy their food! I got the quiche and the empanada, and both were fantastic. So we unintentionally found Happy Chicks Bakery while looking for another place...and it ended up being a good experience! First off, the ladies who work here are so nice. I also love adore all their plants near the windows and they have a very eclectic random vibe going on in this little place. I like that it's really close to school, but parking can be a little tricky if you don't know where you're going. There's metered street parking or a paid parking lot across the street, both fairly easy to figure out! The Greens Croissant sandwich was great, 10/10! Definitely should try it! I love cupcakes and am a super fan of Sprinkles Cupcakes, so naturally, I had to try the cupcakes, amiright?! Cupcakes: (1) Lemon Lavender and (2) Chocolate Berry I was super excited to try the lavender cupcake since one of the girls working there recommended it as her favorite, and I LOVE anything lavender! And, you can't really go wrong with Chocolate/Berry! Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to be obsessed with it, I was unimpressed. The cupcake itself was dense and seemed...stale?? Buuut, I did like that you could taste/see the lemon shavings in the cake portion though! This is such a split review. I first tasted a cake from Happy Chicks Bakery at a family member's birthday party and I was completely blown away. The cake, lemon with vanilla icing, was one of the best I had ever eaten. I don't even like lemon either, so that makes it kind of shocking. The cake was super moist and the lemon flavor was delicate and natural, not overwhelming at all. Wanting to try more, I went to the bakery to see what they had. Since their website lists tons of flavors they will make, I figured they would have a good selection. But, they only had 5 or 6 cupcake flavors the day I stopped, and only one chocolate flavor, which I consider a necessity. And besides the cupcakes, one brownie and one cookie flavor. I was just disappointed at such little selection. I tried a lavender vanilla cupcake and a lavender chocolate cupcake. The vanilla was great; the cake moist and flavorful. The lavender icing on both was sugary and mild, not soapy or overwhelming. But the chocolate cake tasted off. Almost like something was wrong with it, an ingredient missing or something wrong added. Very weird. I'd say if you were ordering something specific from here, you couldn't go wrong, as long as you stay away from chocolate. read more

Never meeting in person, strictly emailing my ideas and different cakes I admired, Jana pulled off an amazing hand painted creation that left my friend amazed. Leaving the artistic creativity up to Jana, I was surely blown away when I arrived to pick up the cake. The little details I asked for were incorporated beautifully. Can you go wrong with a vegan croissant? I think not! We had at least 3 to our table accompanied you two different jams. Friend had the croissant sandwich which looked and smelled great. I had the curry pea and potato empanadas. Daughter had a plain grilled cheese and the bread was epically thick and fluffy. Husband had the spicy grilled cheese with tomato relish. Happy Chicks is the absolute most adorable little cafe in Northside! It's not just a bakery, you should really come and try their amazing vegan lunch. This cafe is very homey and cozy. The decor is light and colorful, with mismatched furniture like you're sitting on your mama's front porch. Half of the bakery is for their baked goods, but the entire front half of is a cafe for savory meals. They have a really great menu full of healthy, seasonal items and baked goods that they make themselves. Everything is veggie/vegan friendly and the produce is sourced from local farms. I ordered The Greens sandwich ($8, hummus, kale, fermented veggies, and pesto mayo on their homemade croissant) and the soup of the day ($4, black bean and greens soup). Everything was so delicious, especially that croissant (!), that I didn't even care that there was no meat. My friend ordered the empanada ($4.50) and loved it, I really don't think you can go wrong here. Our food came out in just a couple minutes, so this would be a good option for a quick lunch. Service was extremely friendly (they really are "happy chicks!"), and this place was just a great restaurant to chill and hang out in. I can't wait to go back and leave with more baked goods next time, because they were calling my name from the display case. Happy Chicks Bakery is THE best vegan restaurant I've ever been to. 5 stars don't do a justice. I cannot rave about this bakery enough. If I could, I would start my morning here every single day. The interior is absolutely adorable with a very cozy and inviting feeling to it. I am a big fan of the precious mix of thrifted furniture and the abundance of bright green plants throughout. I also love the open kitchen layout and large sunny windows that achieve a bright and airy effect through the entire place. The staff are very pleasant, passionate and friendly. There is also a decent little parking lot behind the strip where Happy Chicks is located that you can park for a very small fee. This was our second visit to Happy Chicks and we left just as satisfied as the first time. I ordered the Breakfast sandwich on a croissant (I had the 'buttermilk' biscuit last time and the texture and flavor was fantastic) and my boyfriend went with the Greens sandwich. We also split an order of pretzels + beer cheese and the tomatillo + lentil empanada. Everything. Was. Phenomenal. My croissant was so flaky and buttery, the cheese warm and melty, the frittata could have fooled anyone, and top it all off with some deliciously fresh micro greens. The flavors and quality were spot on. My boyfriends sandwich didn't last long at all and he was just as happy with his. The beer cheese had a slightly runnier texture than I expected given your traditional beer cheese but the flavor was beyond amazing. I'll admit I enjoyed a few spoonfuls of the cheese alone the flavor was so good. The pretzels themselves had the perfect balance of salt and were baked perfectly. We also ended up liking the empanada a lot more than we expected. The flaky crust complimented the seasoned filling very well and the salsa brought it all together with the perfect balance of heat. Needless to say we cleaned every single plate. We ended our meal with an adorable shamrock cookie that I didn't even manage to get a picture of before it was devoured. The quality and flavors of the dishes crafted by the staff at Happy Chicks blew me away for the second time. I've never been so satisfied with a meal all the way through. There's not one thing I would have changed or that I disliked. I don't think it's possible to be disappointed with anything that comes from this bakery. They've earned a customer for life. I will continue to rave about them and recommend them to any and everyone that is looking for a restaurant with delicious plant based options. They get 1 star because the icing was decent. The reviews were great so I thought we should give it a try. I needed a last minute cake for my moms birthday lunch so I was not able to pre order. I called Saturday afternoon, they had Lemon Vanilla ready made (one of our favs) so I asked them to write HB on it and I picked it up Sunday morning. Needless to say I was soooo disappointed when I opened the box and saw the photo below. $45 for a 9" cake and it was UGLY!!! Good thing I can decorate cakes. After I made it beautiful I prayed that it tasted better than it looked upon pick up. Sadly no! Lemon flavor was just ok. It was so dense that it was hard to chew. 5 star definitely goes to the cupcakes! They were wonderfully flavored with such uniqueness to each individual cupcake. Black velvet hibiscus, yellow curry, cream-sickle, lavender lemonade... Honestly of the few cupcakes I've tried there, they were all up to par. The food on the other hand only gets a 2.8 rating... I was honestly really bummed by the amount of food I received for what I paid. I ordered the Green sandwich, which is supposed to be veggies with hummus and such on a housemade croissant. The croissant was truly amazing, but the rest wasn't as great. For 8 bucks it didn't come with a side or anything, and definitely wasn't filling. That's the main drag is the pricing here. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Cincinnati. It's tough to find vegan restaurants here, so when I found out about this place, I nearly jumped for joy. When I actually went there and ate, I DID jump for joy (in my head, at least.) You will never find a cleaner restaurant. You could search this place with a microscope and a pair of white gloves for six hours straight and not find a speck of dirt. The staff is wonderful. Every time I have been there, it's been BUSY. But the person taking my order never fails to smile and engage in pleasant chit-chat, no matter how many people are in line behind me. And even though the line often gets pretty long, I've never had to wait more than five minutes to place my order. My favorite two things here are the empanadas and the cupcakes. The empanada flavors tend to change, but every single flavor I've tried has been wonderful. As for the cupcakes, Happy Chicks has some of the strangest combinations I've ever seen--but they are all so good, and so much better than the standard chocolate and vanilla offered at other restaurants (think ginger chai, orange grapefruit, and bourbon chocolate cherry). Even if you're not vegan (and if you aren't, what are you waiting for?) you should give this place a try. I guarantee it'll become one of your favorite spots, too. read more
