I came to Happy Bao and left being a Sad Bao. Staff were very friendly and nice. Vibe inside was clean and chill. Food: I was kinda disappointed on the flavors of the dumplings. The flavors wasn't really there. They all tasted the same, just bland. Only food I like was the pork wonton noodle, its was flavorful. Please add more flavor to your dumplings!! Chili oil wasn't spicy at all, we asked for spicy sauce. Not even a hit of spicy.
While visiting Phoenix, we met with some local friends for lunch. It was very yummy! Didn't realize they'd just opened this location in the spring. All of the food we had was delicious! They were sold out of chicken and pork soup dumplings, so we settled for seafood. The cucumber salad was my favorite- the garlic was so tasty. I would honestly say it's comparable to Din Tai Fung! Fried rice was delicious too- the flavors were great. Definitely recommend stopping by! The family who runs it is so kind.
Ummmmm yes a must try!!! I tried all the things and can't wait to try more!!! I really enjoyed everything that I got! It was packed when I got there for my pick up making me lowkey happy I was taking it to go! It's a smaller space but clean and the food is good so if you're willing to wait a little bit for a table you'll be fine! The food was fresh hot and I also added the homemade chili sauce sooooo worth it!!
Im so happy they have a location in north phx now. The food was great and in my opinion, better than din tai fung's! The skin of the xlb is much softer and they have more soup inside them. The service was good, it is a small business. I wish they had a little bit more space inside but overall, everything was great.
Fantastic service, food and super relaxed atmosphere. $40 was a great deal for all of this. We'll be back!
They have a bright menu with a lot of pictures. Chill vibes. Pokémon was on, they have a big tv with it on. No idea if that's what they always play bc I wasn't fully watching. Food was pretty decent. We bought a spread so we could taste different things. The seafood xiao long bao was decent. Mild flavor, thin wrapper. They have a vinegary xiao long bao sauce on the table to accompany it. It tastes even better with it. It's not overly salty, which is always good. Kiddo ordered Lu Ro Fan and hated it. I tried it, it was fine. She just wasn't a fan of the textures but said flavor wise it was fine. You get a good size portion of food, there's a lot of flavors. I actually liked it and would eat it again. The only thing I thought could improve was having a softer boiled egg. It was fully hard boiled, just shy of getting the gray color on the yolk. Service was okay. Nothing to complain about, nothing special. You order from a QR code at the table. The dumplings were very mid. The wrappers were so thick. I think I'm extra particular because when I make mine I like thinner wrappers. Filling was okay, not that flavorful. On the table they have a dumpling sauce as well. We also ordered the Sheng Jian Bao combo. They were okay. Mild in flavor. Not bad but needed something flavor wise to step it up. Would I come back? Yes, there's still other things I want to try.
My family and I had pork green chives, chicken cabbage dumplings, house-fried rice and I don't remember what else. Goodness gracious! Everything was so delicious from the first bite to the last. The service was great. They checked up on us every 7-10 mins to make sure we had enough water,chili sauce, ginger and napkins. The vibes of this establishment is very welcoming and comforting. They gave us advice on the mixology of sauces for our food. If you're a family of 5 or more and looking for a place that serves family portions I highly recommend this place! We're definitely coming back on our next family outing.
I love the soup dumplings here, they're always flavorful and satisfying. The beef noodle soup is also excellent, warm, comforting, and perfect for any day. This location is very clean, spacious, and offers plenty of seating, making it a great place to dine in. Service is fast, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that keeps me coming back.
Absolutely loved our experience at Happy Bao in Glendale! We ordered the chicken xiao long bao, hot & sour noodle soup, cucumber salad, and beef sheng jian bao--and every single thing was SO good! The hot & sour noodle soup was incredible and definitely a standout. The cucumber salad was such a pleasant surprise and quickly became one of our favorites--so refreshing and flavorful! The chicken xiao long bao were delicious, and the beef sheng jian bao were just as amazing. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and seriously satisfying. We'll absolutely be back to try more of the menu!

Absolutely incredible. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. The soup dumplings were the standout, perfectly juicy with a rich, savory broth inside. The pan-fried soup buns had an amazing crispy sesame-coated bottom while staying soft and juicy on top. The spicy wontons were coated in a flavorful chili oil that had just the right amount of heat, and the beef noodle soup was comforting, rich, and loaded with tender beef that fell apart with every bite. The service was friendly, the food came out hot and fresh, and you can tell everything is made with care. If you're a dumpling lover, this place is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back!
I have a *slight* (haha) soup dumpling habit. A trip to Vegas or LA and I will go to Din Tai Fung every day. I was super happy they opened up in the valley... but it is so hard to get a reservation and it is very spendy. You can image how thrilled I was to discover Happy Bao's and their awesome Xiao long bao! They are tender and very, very flavorful. The broth inside is superb! Are they the same? No. But they ARE great in their own way. They have more broth and are slighlty larger than I am used to. That said, they are still one bite and so tasty! Also, less expensive and closer to home! Wins all around! My only regret is that I couldn't finish them at the restaurant as I wanted to try other dishes. Also got the spicy chili wontons. Not too spice and the filling is very flavorful. The pork flavor was almost like sausage flavor, but not sausage... hard to describe. I also ordered the beef chow fun. The beef was tender and the overall flavor of the dish was yummy. The noodles seemed a tad overcooked, but i did really enjoy it. As I was dining alone, I had lots leftover and am looking forward to sharing them with a family member for lunch tomorrow. Service was great. Fast and friendly. Will definitely be back and can't wait to try other dishes!
Tried this place at their new location for the first time and i was impressed. The pork ribs were so tender and flavorful, the soup dumplings were delicious! I did think the dough was too much for the meat ratio but still yummy. The chicken spicy wontons were not my favorite. The dough was way too thick. Fried rice was mediocre, nothing special. The noodles were so yummy and flavorful. The service was excellent and the place was so nice!

I will totally be coming back over and over again. I am extremely happy with my service there. I did go earlier in the day so everything was fresh. The service there was just right I couldn't ask for a better little place for homemade steam buns that you get a large amount for your buck. read more

What an Amazing New Place to dine!! I am from New York and I love my Boas!!! Chinese Food for everyone else. This place is so Great for lunch. Atmosphere is calming, fresh and clean. Ordered takeout. Was an easy process and super quick. The food was amazing. Got the Dumpling Sampler Platter and the Honey Sauce Ribs. The ribs were super flavorful and the dumplings were delicious. Loved the Pork and Chives one but all were amazing. The restaurant was clean and busy. Definitely give it a try. I'll be back very soon! read more

It was quite delicious. The braised pork rice could have been served with a slice of pickled yellow radish. The soup dumplings could have had finer ginger shreds. The flavor was good, the portion size was generous, and the service was also good. The environment was clean. Plays good music read more

The food is consistently delicious! I love coming here to eat with other people as the portion sizes are pretty big. I would usually go to the location in Mesa which has a much smaller dining area, but this new location is very spacious and has a great atmosphere. The employees were very kind and gave us some freebies for the grand opening. read more

I really loved this place. They are having a soft opening.. The food is absolutely incredible. The flavors are great, and the restaurant itself is really cute, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, I can definitely see this is someplace that I eat often. I hope they stay open. The place that was here before them, my daughter loved, but they closed down, but this place is even better. Also, what I like is the food is fresh. My photos don't even do it justice read more

Not to be dramatic, but Happy Bao's opening on the west side is top #10 best things to ever happen to me! I was traveling to Mesa because of how good their dumplings are, but will definitely be stopping here way more often. The quality & freshness is the exact same; my personal favorites are the Spicy Chili Dumplings & the Sheng Jian Baos (all of them are great- pork, chicken, or veggie!) My friend and I have visited the Mesa location and loved it (been multiple times and know the menu well) so we were excited that this location opened up as it is closer to us. When we came in, we were not greeted and I had to go up to the front to get assistance. We were told we had to order on the QR code so we ordered our regular dishes, Dan Dan noodles, bok choy, wontons. We had actually come for the XLB which we've gotten at the other location and when I couldn't find it on the QR code, I asked and was told they didn't have it. Disappointed, but decided to try the seafood one as that was the only one they had available. Food comes out and we immediately notice the Dan Dan noodles look extremely bland, see photo. Overcooked noodles drowning in a watery "sauce". Their pork and cabbage dumplings were also extremely bland and covered in water. Seafood XLB and spicy wontons were okay but would definitely not get the seafood XLB again. Bok choy was fine. Will not go back to his location, we tried to complain about the noodles to our "server" but she didn't speak any English. read more
