We were there on Friday night and had a great time. Kelly and Callie were our bartenders. Service was 5 stars. Food was pretty good. We got the 3 meat platter. Broccoli was cooked perfect. Mac n cheese a little on the dry side. Baby back ribs were excellent, burnt ends pretty good. The pulled pork was average. Seemed like they used steam or water to keep it moist, but it took away from the flavor. Bbq sauce was excellent. There was a band that was pretty good playing classic rock. We made the 30 minute journey to Dillons at the Wild Life World Zoo and for some reason we seem to always get there within about 30 minutes of closing. They close fairly early, even on weekends. The remaining server, Samantha, was happy to help us and didn't make us feel rushed. We knew what we wanted...and always ordered when there..the Brontosaurus (beef) ribs. Man, this experience was just not great. I really don't like leaving negative reviews but they missed the mark on so many fronts. Issue #1: no one took our order until 25 minutes after we arrived (yes, I kept track.). Issue #2: appetizer arrived at almost the same time as our main meal - 58 minutes after we arrived. Issue #3: I had to ask 2 different people and wait 10 minutes for a cup of ice for my water. Issue #4: my husband opened a bottle of ketchup to put some on his burger and the bottle literally exploded. Ketchup went everywhere. It was all over my husband's face and clothes. It was all over my clothes and arm and all through my hair. His burger was covered in an avalanche of ketchup. This is clearly not normal for a bottle of Ketchup. The server seemed baffled and was going to leave my husband with his meal that was drenched in Ketchup even after he asked her what would have caused the bottle to explode like that. I finally asked him if he was comfortable eating the food and she then offered to have it remade. Now the food: Burger (after being remade) was average. Chicken tenders were average. Mac and cheese and baked beans were not good. The positives: Loaded potato peels were delicious. Would definitely recommend those. Server kept my husband's soda refilled. The lady doing the bingo games was awesome. She played good music and had a good vibe with everyone in the room. I think (hope?) they were severely understaffed, hence the extreme wait times for service and food. All in all it took 2 full hours from when we got there to the time we were able to get our bill paid and leave. I cannot imagine wanting to return here unfortunately. The other patrons seemed to be having a good time with the bingo host as well. It seems this place does attract regulars but most seemed to just be drinking beer and eating onion rings. Try this place every now and then and the quality has declined so much. Figured they couldnt screw up a pulled pork sandwich and I miscalculated. To be 100 percent honest you are better off getting a sandwich from QT. For nearly $20 with just a sandwich and a tiny cup of beans, this was the worst bbq sandwich ever. The bbq sauce that came in a cup is good but this had to be the toughest, driest bbq Ive ever tried. Like there was nothing about it that makes me want to try this place again. Even Buc cees has a tasty, tender sandwich for a fraction of the price. Final straw kinda experience. Don't waste your money here. read more

Came here based off some other yelpers reviews. The staff was awesome. Super friendly and helpful. The food : I got a trio combo. Pulled pork, burnt ends, and brisket... unfortunately the highlight was the baked beans. They were good. The meat wasn't bad it was just pretty dry although a decent size serving. Typically I'll judge it off of needing to use bbq sauce. It was pretty rough without it to be honest. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day. Took some friends out to dinner, Dillon's was their choice. Arrived on a Saturday evening about 6:30. A trio was playing on a small stage when entering. The energy in the room was great. One star for the music and vibe. We sat in the back of the bar area was we could have conversation. Several tv's playing several sporting events. Waitress took our drink order. We all had sodas. Orders taken. I ordered a brisket sandwich with coleslaw and sweet heat sauce. Hubs ordered a green Chile burger with bbq beans. Food arrived after about 15 minutes. Husbands burger looked good, but the chiles were ice cold. One bite of the beans and he pushed them aside. They had a strange sweet flavor that was off putting. His burger did come with two onion rings. Those rings were amazing. Batter flavorful fried on a thick slice of onion, perfectly cooked. One star for the rings, other than the band playing, those onion rings were the best part of the visit. Now to my sandwich. Never have I seen a brisket sandwich presented the way this one was. The meat was rolled into a coil. It was gray like boiled meat with no smoke ring. How can it be smoked with no smoke ring? I took the meat off of the bun, the top of my bun was hard like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. I'm glad I tasted the sweet heat sauce that was on the side because again I wasn't a fan. My question is most places have bottles of sauce on the table so you can sample the choices before deciding what flavor profile you want. Why doesn't Dillons? Back to the brisket. It wasn't tough, it wasn't tender either. Coleslaw looked good but was extremely bland. Service. No drink refills on soda offered. It was average at best. Would I return. Not for the BBQ. I just don't get the hype. So many better places in town. I would return for the onion rings and to listen to the band. read more

It took them almost an hour to get me an order of wings and a side salad. The worst part about it is they still charge me the full amount and offered me a limp wristed apology saying they're not sure what happened. Well if they don't know what happened nobody does. Great BBQ. Maybe one time in five it is a tad bit dry; but their excellent BBQ sauces make up for that. Onion rings are absolutely 10 out of 10. The salads, soup, chili, Chx wings are all very good. Beers and drinks are cold and strong; all bartenders are very good. I'd say Kallie is the fastest, most outgoing, and clearly a great bar-manager. Sadly, the Synergy card deal is no longer good, so I'll have to load up on the in-house dining cards the next time they offer them. All-in, great place for top notch BBQ and cold drinks. read more

I have been to Dillions several times and last night was beyond belief. We were told it would be a 5 to 10 minute wait to be seated. 35 minutes later we were seated in a section with one larger party of 8 and a couple that was just leaving. Another 30 minutes passed and no server. Eventually our order was taken and another 30 minutes until being served barely warm baby back ribs that were DRY and had a lot of bark. The ambiance of Dillion's is that of a sports bar with multiple TVs (even in the booth) and loud music from the bar area for Trivia night. Unfortunately PHX doesn't have many options for BBQ (sans Bobby Q) and unfortunately Dillions despite being conveniently located is not worth the distance saved. read more

Seven years later it feels like it's time to update my review of Dillon's. It's still a place my friends can walk to from their short-term rental (though this time we drove). It's still a place offering a menu with something for everyone (three of us each had a different salad with different proteins, 1 had a BBQ plate, the table shared onion rings, and all of us had beer or wine). Everything ordered was generous in portion size and tasted great. I was told that business seemed to have slowed since my visit of 7 years ago but the noise and activity level in the bar, where we sat on a Tuesday night, didn't make that apparent. I arrived to a full bar area where most of the crowd was partaking in a Family Feud type of trivia game. This segued into a (much more fun) music video bingo game for patrons. Although both were overly loud for my tastes (Dillon's noise level might be my sole complaint) the music video game was fun enough that it'd bing me back repeatedly if I was nearer. Of course, the food and service would do that as well. Dillon's remains a comfortably casual option for dinner and/or drinks. Prices now hover between $15-$20 for most items and for the quality and fun they're serving, Dillon's remains a consistently good choice. read more

The service was excellent. The chicken tenders were very good, and the fries. The loaded mashed potatoes were excellent. That's where it ended. Beef ribs were terrible, hardly any meat, plenty of fat, no flavor. The brisket was terrible, no flavor, dry. The burnt ends were not good, tender but no flavor. The over-flavored, bad-flavored sauce made them all worse. The Mac and cheese had no flavor. If cabbage could be something less than raw, that's the terrible coleslaw. And for all these years Dillon's has been pretty consistent but today was the first time we had a problem. There was a bone in my chicken Cesar salad. It startled me and I for a second thought It chipped my tooth! Just a bad scare tho bec my teeth are ok tg. Then there was the jalapeño cheese dip for my husband's pretzel was super runny and salty. So we asked for a different batch of cheese dip, the beer cheese dip. That too came super watery, soupy and salty and it had a bunch of carrots and random miscellaneous bits of junk in it. Not edible at all. We live right next door so this makes me sad to think that we might have to find a news spot. I hope this was just a one off. read more

Dillon's was all that I expected and more. The service was very good. Our waiter was friendly and timely. He helped us navigate their large menu and made some recommendations for us. We opted for the baby back ribs and they were tender and delicious! We sampled all 3 of their sauces and preferred the sweet one. The sides were also very good. The interior is expansive and had almost a sports bar feel. It looked to be an excellent place for large groups or parties. The ONLY thing that I could really knock Dillon's on was their appetizers. This restaurant unfortunatus doesn't have enough healthy options. Yes, I did get the smoked turkey which was really good and moist and smoked. However, once you get past that there's a lot of fried food and overpriced steak. If you get outside the vegetable of the day, there aren't even a whole lot of really healthy side dishes without starch or sugar in them. There are barbecue restaurants and steakhouses with a lot more healthy options than Dylan's and although they have the typical salads, even most of the appetizers are fried up and not worth spending the money on. read more

Pros: The food was amazing with generous portions. I especially recommend the rack of smoked baby back ribs! Ambiance was great and the music was not too loud. Cons: I think it was our server's first day, as she really didn't know what they offered and had to constantly check with someone else, plus we had to remind her several times of what we'd ordered. We ordered three plates of full rack ribs but they only had 1 1/2 racks available... at 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't totally their fault. They explained that someone had just ordered 7 racks, so we each settled for a half rack ribs and a side of pulled pork. Still, it was disappointing. Overall though, we had a good time and as I said, the food was delicious. I will probably go back, hoping to be able to get a full rack of ribs... they are that good. read more

I'll start with the really great parts. The service was wonderful! Friendly and attentive bartenders (we sat at the bar). The side salad was served in a chilled bowl, great toppings and house made ranch. The sweet heat bbq sauce was fantastic, one of the best I have had. Now for the rest. I was craving bbq, specifically, brisket. It was sliced to about 1/8", was way over done, no seasoning, smoke flavor, completely fat free. It literally looked like sandwich sliced roast beef. It was meat fit for an open faced hot beef sandwich at best. Burnt ends we chunked ends, not burnt, not glazed, no flavor. Literally chunked beef. It was very tender I guess. The mashed potatoes were literally watery and without flavor. At first I thought they were instant potatoes, but alas, they were just entirely over cooked and took on too much water. Prices were pretty low, and I guess it's true-you get what you pay for. If you are looking for BBQ with the quality level of a hospital cafeteria, Dillon's would be a good choice. I would have much rather paid double the bill for really good brisket and burnt ends. The three stars are for the salad, service and sweet heat sauce. The rest of the food is zero stars. read more

We visit this restaurant everytime we go vacation there. We came in Sunday night ( Easter) and they were amazing! Our server was so nice and attentive. The food was amazing! I mostly just get takeout from there . The last two times I've ordered the beef brisket by the pound. They have gotten cheap about the bbq sauce, only giving about half of what they used to and stating they would charge me if I wanted more. At $22.99 per pound, I don't think they're going to lose revenue by giving me a little extra bbq sauce. The meat usually has great flavor but the last two batches have tasted old or reheated. I picked up lunch early. At about noon, so maybe the bbq isn't done yet but I don't know what goes on there. Only what it tastes like. Besides that, the staff that handle the takeout orders do a great job. read more
