Fantastic place, The Place is. Whatever you get, be sure to include at least one biscuit and gravy. I've never seen a biscuit rise that high. It was as delicious as it was to look at. Hash browns, bacon, omelet, cream of wheat, it was all a breakfast should be. Add to that a friendly and sassy group of waitresses and you have The Place. Saw a broad range of folks of all ages young and old including couples and families with children of all ages having a great time eating great food. It's definitely diner vibes. Portions are large, the food just isn't that great. We had a malted waffle and a T-bone steak breakfast. The waffle was not done all the way - nothing worse than a mushy waffle and the steak was well overcooked and no flavor, gravy (comes with choice of many things) biscuit/gravy was just meh too. Steak was ordered rare arrived no pink. I had eaten lunch here before and it was just ok then too., was hoping for better this time. I've been here a few times before today and had always been happy with the service and the food. Regrettably today was a different story. The place was busy but that's pretty par for the course here. Our service was extremely slow, even just to get our beverages. I ordered pancakes and was not impressed with them at all. They were dry and dense side. Honestly I make better pancakes at home. I love The Place for breakfast ! It's nowhere near our house but it is one of my favorites when I am visiting relatives. It gets VERY busy on weekends so be prepared, we went on a weekday and got seated right away. I went with something totally unusual for my usual tastes. Omelette with corned beef, spinach, cheese and mushrooms and it was fantastic! Has browns were great as well as the toast, my husband had the French toast and a side of two scrambled eggs. Service took a long time I think they were short staffed (still pretty busy for a Tuesday morning) never will go to IHOP, Denny's exc........this is the breakfast place! No pun intended. read more

Let's start with the service. Haley was fantastic, very nice, and in top of things. Now let's talk the food, very disappointed with the ratings vs the food I had. Chicken fried streak with scrambled eggs, hash browns, and it came with a stack of pancakes. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict sorry did not snap a photo of hers. Steak is frozen and not made in house, so if you are looking for homemade chicken fried steak this is not that. It was not good and the texture of the gravy was very gelatinous and not like a milk gravy. Pancakes were dry and over cooked.the Benedict muffin seemed uncooked and the sauce was not good. We recently visited The Place off Bell Road in Glenview for the second time. Our first experience had been good, so we were really looking forward to coming back. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. When we arrived, there was a small wait list, so we decided to sit at the bar. The waitress promptly took our drink order, but never gave us menus. We had to ask another waitress for them. After ordering a Smothered Burrito and a Buffalo Chicken Wrap (with ranch specifically requested on the side), we waited... and waited. Meanwhile, two different customers sat on either side of us after we had already ordered. Both received their drinks and meals within about 10 minutes and were already halfway finished with their meals before we even got our full order. We were told ours was "coming," but our waitress was rarely around to check on us. We were seated near the entryway to the kitchen, and the rest of the staff was coming and going with food quickly -- they were rocking the joint. It was clear the kitchen and other servers were moving efficiently, which made it even more frustrating that our service lagged behind. I truly wish our waitress (Syndina) had followed suit. After about 25 minutes, the burrito finally arrived -- but not the wrap. Shortly after, the waitress came back and told us they had forgotten to put the buffalo sauce on the chicken and asked if that was okay. At that point, given the long wait, we said yes. The burrito was heavily smothered in cheese but lacked green chile and overall flavor. The wrap was even more disappointing -- especially after a 25-minute wait. It was essentially a simple salad in a wrap with multiple sauces on the side, even though we had only requested ranch on the side. To make matters worse, when we asked for boxes, the waitress dropped them off and walked away without asking how the food was or checking in at all. There was no follow-up during the meal either. Sadly, this experience was frustrating and fell far below our expectations based on our previous visit. We left disappointed. read more

I went to The Place with two friends and was very pleased. I had an omelette that came with hash brown potatoes and a biscuit with gravy. I chose the Arizona omelette and it was excellent. The portions are large and both my friends left with takeout bags. We were surprised to see the staff pulling out the booths in half the restaurant for cleaning. I got the chicken fried steak and eggs with a side of pancakes and it was super fluffy. Everything was delicious! I also ordered a mimosa flight. The mimosa flight comes with 4, 1/2 size drinks equaling about two full size drinks. Good price and size for sharing. Of note, aside from the strawberry mimosa, they all taste the same. We had breakfast and it was delicious. We especially loved the pork green Chile sauce and the hash browns. One of us had the huevos rancheros (perfect) and the other had a veggie omelet (yummy). The Place (ha ha) had clean bathrooms, and everywhere our eyes wandered was clean with positive, encouraging signs all over. I have been going to this place for quite a while but within the last year, I have backed off because the service is not that great I went in for breakfast on Friday morning. I had a loaded burrito and it was horrible. It was very hard to cut. It was like the tortilla was microwaved hardly any loaded sauce on it. I would've said something to my bartender, but she was too busy socializing with the two girls at the bar and some guy so I could never get her attention. She never asked me how anything was never asked me if I wanted another drink and then when I got the bill to my surprise, the loaded burrito is now $19. That's extremely expensive for a breakfast burrito I'm extremely disappointed in this place because their prices used to be reasonable and their service used to be good but not anymore so I will not be coming back. read more

Pancakes were served with very cold butter (and not enough, but a server brought more), that was the only draw back. Not spreadable. We were told they don't have soft butter.
