I was in the area at the VA medical center. Which oddly I forgot to check in at. I have been following HOE on instagram and couldn't wait to stop in and it was worth it. I ordered a huge breakfast burrito that was oh so very yummy. The also serve some very good coffee. Service was extremely good and helpful. It was a little noisy, but this is because of the way the place is made and decorated. But it is still very good. I would gladly come back here again. It had been years since I had come to Hang Over Easy, so I was glad to stop in and remember why it's such a great spot! First things first, why is Hang Over Easy so great? BECAUSE THEY USE WAITLIST!!!!! When my parents came down to get lunch with my brother and I we wanted to grab a weekend brunch without having to wait an hour to sit down. Before we left his house, we added ourselves to the waitlist via the Yelp app, which prompted us to arrive by 11:30 am. When we arrived at 11:30, we were immediately seated. I felt like a celebrity as I walked past the crowd of people standing in front of the restaurant. The restaurant was packed, but our server greeted us quickly upon being seated. You could tell that she was hustling to get to quickly serve lots of customers. One note, is that I think in the rush of things, she came across as a little harsh. My brother ordered his meal and when asked what kind of toast he wanted he said "I actually don't want toast, but I would like to order a pancake." She replied "well, you can pay for it," assuming that he wanted the pancake as a replacement for the toast. A simple, "just so you know, that will still ring up in addition to your meal," would have sufficed. I think she may have just been a bit stressed with her tables, she was otherwise very kind and attentive. One of the reasons for this 5 star review is because of the value. I had forgotten how affordable this place was! Every menu item seemed to be $2-3 cheaper than I would expect to see at restaurants of a comparable nature. I imagine this plays well with the college crowd it attracts. I ordered the breakfast tacos ($8). The eggs and chorizo were delicious, but what really set the tacos off were the little bits of jalapeño in the tacos. Not too spicy, but enough to give each bite a little kick, only to be cooled off by the fresh crema. Truly, a fiesta in my mouth. Yum! Super cute place with a cheeky vibe. We tried it out for breakfast during our visit to Cincy. We were there on a Tuesday morning, so luckily not very busy. Our waitress was very nice but we did have to wait a bit for our food. The French toast was amazing, and I had "the dirty" on the waitress' recommendation. So good and made me realize I should order more breakfast burritos in the future, haha. Omelette was fine, but unfortunately the gravy on the sausage gravy biscuits was cold, but the waitress brought us some more hot gravy once alerted to the issue. Yummy! Got here with some friends around 10:30, had about a 30 minute wait and service was prompt. This is such a cute restaurant, has that modern diner feel. The menu is extensive and I had such a hard time picking something. I started with a rainbow mimosa and it was awesome (fun flavors all together). I ended up getting the "walk of shame" with HOE fries and I highly recommend. It was a great combination of sweet and savory, yes to a grilled donut, bacon, cheese, sausage and potatoes! This was so filling! My friends got the bread pudding French toast and the fruity pebbles French toast. While searching for restaurants in Clifton with my brother we found Hang Over Easy. We got on the waitlist through the Yelp app which is highly recommended as we walked right in and waited about 5 minutes for a table while others stood around. I ordered the breakfast tacos with chorizo which was very filling. My only complaint is that when you order a portion of tacos you normally get 3 and this portion only had 2. The potatoes on the side were very good but needed some more seasoning. My brother ordered pancakes and enjoyed them. Would recommend trying at least once read more

The waitress was apologetic and kind, but they still need to work on their serving efficiency since this is the second time I experienced this issue (Note: I am impatient and do get hangry, so the wait may not be bad for the average patient individual haha) As for the food, I ordered the Dirty Sanchez and Cinnamon Roll Pancake. The Dirty Sanchez was decent. I enjoyed the overall flavor--however the eggs were a bit dry and the potato to everything else inside the burrito ratio was a bit too high for my liking. Luckily, they added a lot of sauce to counterbalance the dryness, but I would still say this dish was a 3 star rating. As for the pancake, I was impressed. It tasted exactly like a cinnamon roll! I am a cinnamonroll-fiend, so this dish was enjoyable--I highly recommend trying it. Overall, I most likely will not come back to this restaurant unless a friend begs me to go with them. I visited Hang Over Easy with my girlfriends on a weekend trip to Cincinatti! The restaurant was modern and spacious, and we felt right at home. Hang Over Easy doesn't take reservations, but they do allow you to call ahead. We called ahead, but still waited about 40 minutes once we got there! We went midday on Sunday, which is a popular brunch-time, so we weren't upset by the wait! The food was delicious!!! I ordered the chicken and chorizo scramble with sunny side up eggs! In the picture, the eggs hide the goodness underneath, but trust me it was perfect! Also the toast came already buttered and that is a game changer in my book! Visited Hang Over Easy for the first time today with my husband and a friend. I'll come right out and say it: I hate breakfast food!! But I still enjoyed my meal When we arrived, the hostess told us that there would be a 45 minute wait. We looked around, and immediately saw 6 open tables. Not dirty with dishes on them, but clean, ready-to-go tables. As we waited, those tables stayed open for another 15 minutes. Why the wait? Anyway, we were lucky enough to get a spot at the bar, avoiding the long wait. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was phenomenal. The portion was also generous (a large waffle with 4 chicken tenders), so I ate as much as I could and passed it to my husband. He scarfed down the rest. It was truly delicious, and perfect for someone (i.e. Me) who hates most breakfast foods. Our plates were cleared, and it was another 15-20 minutes before our check came. Not sure why, but that's fine. We weren't in a rush. Overall, my meal was delicious. Prices are very fair. Service is slow and questionable. When we started to state our complaints he told us that we were the only ones who complained. Bad temper and disregards the customers when their unsatisfied. He has a bad attitude which led to this review. This place usually would not be my ideal style and vibes, but it's delicious and totally worth the wait. I joined the Yelp waitlist before leaving the hotel, which was about a 15 minute drive, so the wait did not really seem terrible. Once I arrived, I waited about another 10-12 minutes before being seated. All of the host/hostess and servers were wearing masks but the kitchen staff lacked COVID protocols and most were not wearing their masks. I was pleased to see hand sanitizer placed everywhere throughout the restaurant and your server event brings a bottle to the table for you to use. The menu is rather basic, but it works. They have the basics plus some. I ordered the cinnamon roll french toast- delicious, with a side of HOE potatoes. The HOE potatoes are good! I was a little sad when I asked if the orange juice was fresh squeezed and they said no, it's Simply Orange. My friend ordered an omelette and it was a good size but lacked ingredients and cheese. I'm in. Before I get to the food, I have to say whatever this place is paying Emmerson...it isn't enough. He is an excellent barman, waiter, entertainer, and conversationalist. Truly. A master of his craft. He offered the right beers and kept the Jameson flowing. He alone deserves high praise and 5 stars. Being the nerd I am I reviewed the menu prior to arrival. I had already decided on the Reuben...but Emmerson squashed any doubts I had and I ordered it. Basically...the only criticism I have is there was not enough 'kraut. The rye was perfectly toasted, crispy, and soft, with the perfect amount of Thousand Island dressing, all nestled on WAY too much Corned beef...which is not a criticism...that would make the best NYC delicatessen blush. Good god this sammich was amazing. MORE KRAUT NEXT TIME!!! The tots were crispy and delicious, but completely humbled by the sammich. The only crap thing is the parking. The university usurps all street parking. So you can run around and try and find street parking or be robbed by the people right across the street. We were met and seated immediately, I had checked the reviews prior who said to check in before arrival but I did not have any problems getting in. The waiter was patient and checked in frequently to ensure we had a good experience. The food was good, but was a little pricey for what it was. I did thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere of a modern brunch destination, I could easily see it being a lot of fun to have a brunch party with mimosas there (although I did not partake on this day) overall I think this deserves about a 4 star, with great service and enjoyable food. Busy place on a Saturday, even after UC has let out for the summer! Although the line was out the door when I arrived, most everyone was seated pretty quick. I think I waited 5 minutes? The large group of 6-8 in front of me were told they had to wait 30 minutes. Understandable, as the place is not very big inside. I was dining alone, so I was easy - a spot at the bar please. Impressively large bar, I might add. Two servers taking orders and slinging drinks helped quicken the process. They had wi-fi so after checking out the menu, I was on my laptop, but not for long! My coffee was in front of me within a minute and my meal, "Angry Egg" within 5 minutes! Man, this town moves fast! I really could've gone for an iced coffee, but none to be found here. I was surprised at how much of a bar (liquor and craft beer) it was as it is a breakfast diner. The service was friendly and fast, I dig the atmosphere- fun place! I was underwhelmed by the food though. The toast was perfect (I think on sourdough), but the scrambled eggs and hoe fries were just eh. When I lived in Clifton, Hang Over Easy was my #1 spot to...well...cure a hangover. They offer many different eclectic breakfast/brunch options that will cater to anyone, whether it be your friendly neighborhood hipster, your visiting parents, our your low key alcoholic friend group attempting to recover from the weekend. Hang Over Easy is located off of Short Vine on the southeast side of campus. The restaurant is large and minimally decorated. The fixtures and pieces that adorn the restaurant were chosen with care. Whoever designed the place wanted to tell you that you were going to enjoy a great damn breakfast in the most colorful yet chill way possible. The bright color scheme combined with the many windows may also be a subtle way of saying WAKE THE F%#! UP THE WEEKEND IS OVER AND THAT HANGOVER HAS TO GO! Maybe I'm just looking too much into it all. Whatever the case - it's a cool set up. The menu has a lot of approachable options mixed in with traditional choices that have twists. Anybody that serves goetta is automatically a good person in my book. For the longest time I ordered either the "Sloppy Seconds" (standard breakfast fare of eggs, toast and breakfast meat) or the avocado toast with goetta on the side. Recently I found out you can order their HOE Benny but sub the chorizo with goetta - now that's a game changer! They also have a full bar and an impressive tap selection should your choice of hangover cure be more drinking. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is that the service is inconsistent. Whenever I sit at the bar the bartenders are on it and get me whatever I need in a timely manner. Whenever I sit at a regular table, the servers are difficult to find and just not as cheery to be there. Maybe because they're farther from the alcohol? Also, takeout service is atrocious. My food has NEVER been ready in the amount of time they quote. When you're nursing said hangover, the last thing you want is to be told 20 and it actually takes 45. This morning my granddaughter took me out for my birthday and with the freezing rain, we decided not to go to Proud Rooster because they were lined out the door and there was no parking, so we went to Hang over. Big mistake!! I hadn't been in 5 years because food and service had so declined. I'd hoped that if they were still in business, someone must have righted the ship. Nope!! Ordered over medium eggs, they were over hard, after we'd waited 45 minutes to receive them! The hoe potatoes were crispy and would have been delicious except that the potatoes had not cooked through before they were sliced and sauteed, gross! My dranddaughter, against my advice (they used to have the worst gravy on the planet) got the frog eyes. The entire pool of gravy was surrounded by another pool of grease!
